STEPH JUDGEMENT: Pleasant place for lunch. We were in the area and were looking for a place for lunch and their menu was up our alley. We got there right after they opened so we were the first ones in, but the place filled up soon enough. The decor was attractive, with lots of dark wood, the ambiance was nice and calm, with friendly servers. I got the grilled shrimp tacos, which were three street-style tacos with plump shrimp, grilled veggies, shredded cabbage and avocado salsa, accompanied by seasoned tortilla chips and a nicely piquant green salsa. The hubby got the 1/2 grilled cheese sandwich and 1/2 garden salad, which he liked. You can mix and match among 3 types of sandwiches, salads, and soup--a nice option for a lighter lunch. We didn't have any beer on this visit but noticed the board with lots of interesting options. If you're looking for a more chill option on main st this place is worth a look. read more

Great food, lovingly prepared. They are understaffed, but that's no one's fault but management. The bartender, in particular, was doing a fantastic job serving EVERYONE. I had the poke nachos. In many years since we last visited here. So happy we stopped in though. Speaking with our waitress, they remodeled during Covid. Looks great! Just a beer and wine bar with some really good food! We were under impressed with the Abbey lemonade, and our appetizer, pretzel with beer cheese. They could've done something to increase the flavor of the Abby lemonade and the pretzel with beer cheese just really wasn't cutting it for whatever reason. Not on the same level as some other pretzels we've had recently. That said, their pizza was absolutely delicious! We ate more than half of the large buffalo chicken pizza. Delicious! Solid neighborhood pub experience during our lunch visit to Seal Beach. Simple fare, efficient friendly service. I ordered the main street BBQ teriyaki salmon plate which came with rice and veggies. Husband ordered the chicken caprese sandwich and fries. The sandwich came on a nice fluffy ciabatta bread with basil pesto, tomato, cheese and chicken grilled inside. He loved this sandwich! I think it was the pesto that made this dish for tasty. The fries were skinny cut and good as well. My salmon came with a side of some kind of sauce in addition to plenty of teriyaki on top. The veggies were tender broccoli and carrots both cooked fork tender so perfect for me. The dish was a huge piece of meat very thick and showing nice grill marks. I ate it all, and only wanted just a bit more jasmine rice to balance it out, the rice portion was a little stingy. But a really nicely prepared meal for a neighborhood bar! I'm on a bit of a quest to try all of the lunch specials in the area. On my way to my usual spot, I saw the sign advertising specials for the Abbey, and they looked good. I came in and actually saw a sliders option, which sounded better than the soup/sandwich option. The burgers were perfectly cooked and tasted fantastic, the patties are about 1/2 inch thick and about 3-4 inches in diameter. It had a good portion of fries. The fries were slightly stale, but that's common. The best part about this lunch special was that I was able to eat everything on my plate. I hate when restaurants give me too much and I end up wasting food. Service was pleasant and the restaurant/bathroom are clean. Very glad I finally stopped by! read more

We went to the Abbey on a Saturday evening, and boy was it busy! Hostess told us it would be a 30 minute wait for our party of six, we did not get seated for 85 minutes, not a large place but pretty disappointing! So by the time we sat down, we were quite hungry, a bit tired from standing outside on the street where they have you wait and not in the best of spirits. That being said, I ordered the ahi pokey nachos and thoroughly enjoyed them. The fish and chips and cheese pizza for the kids also went over quite well. Ordered a beer, but had to send it back as it wasn't what I ordered, but did enjoy the hazy IPA when it arrived. Went on a Monday around noon and was seated right away! Our server was very kind and attentive throughout our whole meal! We got the onion rings as an appetizer. Very flavorful and a good crunch. My friend is a regular here and I had never been. Smaller space but laid out very nicely. Bartender was very nice and paid attention. A little loud but it was cool that it had a sit down vibe for food but the bar felt separate if you wanted to just hang out. We are visiting for an out of town soccer tournament for our daughter and I was trying to find a restaurant that would accommodate 30 of us. It was around 7pm when I called and very last minute as every place I called was fully booked. The manager at The Abby went out of her way to hook us up and had tables ready for us by 8:15. It's a smaller place but super cute and the staff there is very attentive, accommodating and very friendly. The restaurant itself is super cute with a wine bar type of feel. The food was fresh and made from scratch. They only serve Beer and Wine. Everything we order was perfect and came out fairly quick. I ordered the Chicken Parm. I like it when they pound the chicken thin and litely bread it before frying it. I did need to ask for more sauce but other than that it was cooked perfect. It was juicy and tender enough that I could cut it with a fork just how I like it. The fettuccine noodle In marinara were so fresh and cooked just right. Wish I had taken more pictures but I didn't want to bother everyone at the table. So these are just my family's. Everyone enjoyed their meals though we all had zero complaints. Overall we were very impressed with the service and how accommodating the staff was for being last minute especially with such a large group. They even split our checks per family which made it so much easier for us. I know it was a lot to ask but The Abby Staff made it happen when a lot of other places won't do that for large parties and will add 22% gratuity on top of it. We will be a forever customer and highly recommend checking them out. I know my family will be back every time we visit LA. read more

My daughter had first come here a few times with friends and told me that it was really good. My husband and I were looking for somewhere different to eat at for our Friday Lunch Date so we decided on this place. For starters, it has one of my husbands favorite beers that is hard to find. He was a happy man. :) We both decided on the lunch special for $13.95 which included a 1/2 sandwich and salad or soup. We really enjoyed it. The buttery, toasted sour dough bread was scrumptious! I haven't been to The Abby in awhile and it did not disappoint. I had my pup with me so we sat out front and Vanessa took great care of us. We shared the artichoke caprese salad which was so fresh and they split it for us. The salmon dish is very upscale for a casual dining restaurant. The blend of the rice, and veggies complemented the salmon for a perfect bite. And the grilled cheese and tomato soup brought me back to my childhood but way better.
