This place is more for the "experience" of eating with your hands and wearing a bib! We waited over an hour and you can't reserve over the phone which I don't like. The food was ok, the service wasn't all that great. Mostly teens that really didn't care much. It's not cheap. We spent about $400+ for 4 adults and 2 children. It was kind of weird they were really cheap with their ice!!! We would get warm beverages with a few pieces of ice, then when we asked for more, they would bring us a cup with like 3 pieces of ice! By far the most well balanced, not too sweet cocktails I have ever had. Their new fall menu includes a squash curry soup that is to die for and my date enjoyed Tango's steak and Chimichurri, potatoes bravos and the apple pie for desert. My wife and I went to Tango for our first time to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and the experience was awesome. We love Spanish tapas style restaurants and were excited to discover one nearby in Orange County. The food was excellent with tons of great options for a variety of tastes. The service was great as well. When our server forgot to bring us more crostini and accidentally cleared one of our plates before finishing, the restaurant immediately brought us a fresh tapas dish without charging us. The staff was friendly and attentive, remembering that it was our anniversary. Finally, the restaurant ambiance is really cool. Being on the end of Forest Avenue, it's a little quieter than the main drag. They have quaint outdoor dining. The inside is a very small space, but really nicely done to provide a trendy decor. All in all, Tango would be a great place to have happy hour cocktails, a celebratory dinner, or after-dinner drinks to wind down the evening. It'd also be a great place for first dates. The service was great but the food wasn't. I'm not sure what type of food that was. Some sort of fusion, I guess. We had the gnocchi and shrimp but it has mushroom and it overpowered the flavor. An honest review. We were excited about the new Tango last Friday night but was a little disappointed. Seven of us arrived at 7:30pm. The restaurant sold out items early in the evening. We weren't told Tango was out of some dishes until a couple of us got served. How can you be out of white sauce? What happened? I've been in the restaurant business since 1991 with 18 locations. I know they're new, but it's been 5 weeks. A lot of items online were not on the menu. The menu at Tango was limited with little to no description. Our group asked a lot of questions. A lot of questions could've been avoided if the menu had more detail. The portions were somewhat small except for my brisket dip, which was filling and delicious. Our server(Laura) was amazing and apologized several times. We still tipped her $50. The manager(Austin) was very apologetic as well. I'll be back for the staff and the Wednesday Empanadas. The senior manager and/or owner needs to step it up big time and go above and beyond when you make mistakes. It happens. It's how you take care of it that makes a difference. You get one chance to make it first and last great impression. Austin did bring a couple of mini desserts to compensate for the mistakes, inconvenience, and more. I took my girlfriend to tango. I believe it was the 2nd week of their opening. It felt like they have been open for a year because everything went smooth. The server was knowledgeable and very friendly as they made us feel right at home. We sat next to another couple we had never met and left with new friends. That was what the atmosphere was like. We tried 5 small plate "tappas" and they were all delicious. My girlfriend had a signature cocktail and loved it. All in all it was a 5 star experience. I went with a friend for brunch after seeing an Instagram video on Visit_SouthOC and I feel so duped. First of all this is totally NOT a brunch spot, not even close. There is one brunch item and it's a special that's not even on their menu, the silver dollar pancakes which should frankly only cost a silver dollar but instead they're $18! They're frozen, Trader Joe's quality pancakes with a single strawberry cut into quarters. I also got the "it takes two to tango" which I would bet my life on the fact there was 0 alcohol in it. My friend got two of the tapas items which were missing parts they listed on the menu and she didn't even finish because of how bad they were. Stopped by Tango for their soft opening brunch! We don't drink alcohol, and had already eaten breakfast, but our experience was STILL amazing! We were walking by the restaurant when Dana, a server, invited us in to try some house made sangria. We passed on the sangria (which looked delicious), but decided to sit down, have a mocktail, and share a small plate. The decor and ambiance was incredible even at 12pm on a Sunday. The bartender made us a lovely peach mocktail. Dana explained the brunch menu, described some of her favorite plates, and we ultimately decided to share the Italian carpaccio. Thinly sliced meats with arugula, beans, artichoke hearts, olive tapenade, lemon juice, Parmesan, and some bread. Very fresh and beautiful! The chef/owner was hanging out at the bar with some friends, the servers were all very attentive to people who walked in looking curious, and everything felt super welcoming for their soft opening.
