This is the cutest little spot in Laguna beach. It's two stories and the top story is very secluded and quiet. Downstairs, there's the bar and the entrance so people come and go and talk and it's lively and there's music. I prefer downstairs seating. I had the best scallops of my life here. The curry squash soup is amazing, as well as the potatoes. They're flavored and seasoned well and topped with a sauce. The Mojito cocktail is really good. It's tangy and not too sweet. read more

Was looking to go someplace new in Laguna and after reading reviews Tango seemed like a good choice for a birthday celebration but unfortunately that was not the case. The service was disappointing, to say the least. Apparently they had a waitress in training but the just kept make excuses for their poor service. We ordered the meatballs to only be let know much later that they were out and did not ask if we would like to replace with another dish. The menu was misleading, mediocre, very small portion of veggies that were $19 and additional $24 to add steak that came out cold and chewy. Then they also forgot our patatas brava. I don't understand how their rating is so high because it's one thing to have bad service but the food was cold and not great. Spent $150 and left hungry. read more

It's a charming little restaurant, and the menu looked promising at first glance. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to expectations. The food was overpriced and disappointing. Our group ordered several dishes to sample. The brocheta steak was decent, but the other appetizers lacked flavor. The ahi carpaccio, in particular, was unappetizing; it looked messy and tasted off. We also tried a variety of cocktails. The margaritas were just okay, but the other drinks fell flat. On top of that, the service was poor -- the servers came across as arrogant and rude. The restaurant wasn't even busy for a weekend night, and after our experience, it's easy to understand why. With so many great options in Laguna, I definitely wouldn't return. read more

The food was amazing, everything we had was so good. We especially liked the Sopa de Maíz, but some of our other favorites were the Albóndigas and the Patatas Bravas. Wait staff were super friendly and helpful. We even got to talk with the chef and he was super kind and optimistic. He has a deep passion for food, and it translates well into his recipes. Loved the atmosphere too! We ate outside and it was perfect, not too much noise or traffic even though it was next to the sidewalk. Came in with a party of three for early dinner, and was excited to try a new place in Laguna. The Food was very normal and the place was aesthetic. But service was terrible. The waitress seemed like she did not want to be there took a long time to even take our order. A lot of the items were unavailable. When inquiring about cocktails, I was told that there would be a citrus flavor but was very Smokey, but I could not taste the citrus at all. We decided to order the lamb, but received an unexpected upcharge. We were not told that they would only come with two pieces normally, when the bill came they charged us an extra $8 for the third piece of lamb. Will not be coming back. read more

We had the Empanadas (a special), the Herby Shrimp, and the Pork Belly to start. Then had the lamb and Angus Brisket. Service was good and very friendly. We were not expecting traditional Tapas and knew we would need to get a few dishes going in, but I think if the portion sizes were slightly bigger or if the pricing was changed slightly to match the sizing, we would have given it a better rating. Felt more like I had hired a private chef to make us a tapas dinner. Waiters were inexperienced. Didn't clear our plates, forgot to bring plates in the first place! Asked for a straw and the grabbed one with thief bare fingers rather than putting it in a napkin. Forgot two items we ordered so had to remind them at the end of our meal. It was just awkward... Food had some good points. Chicken empanadas were tasty and the guacamole on it was great! They used the same aioli sauce is many of the tapas dishes so nothing else really stood out. Braised short rib had a bit of a gamey taste. Drinks were ok but the bartenders were really creating a nice vibe for those at the bar. We had a fantastic meal at Tango last night. The place is relatively new, very busy, but the food and service was amazing. We had the Bleu Cheese, Burrata and steak and shrimp gnocchi. Everything was reasonably priced and we walked away very happy and full. Our server was so very nice too, checking on us frequently and ensuring we had a great meal. There's plenty more on the menu for us to try, including the lobster ceasar salad and the brisket sandwich. We lost our favorite restaurant, Roux, but Tango appears to be in the running to replace it! Definitely give this spot a try. read more

Ambiance felt like we were a burden by being customers. The noise level was obnoxious. $8 for a few slices of bread and an ounce of tomatoes... every restaurant in the world would just give you that. Seating was cramped, and stuffy. Service was nice but not very personable. Menu was extremely confusing and just felt annoying to eat here. The concept of tapas is take it slow and enjoy your time. We ordered seven dishes and four cocktails to start (for our party of six). The food was good, but being tapas, you have to expect that the plates will be small--for some people this will affect the way they see the value of dollars to what you get. We asked why the online menu (part of the reason we chose this place to begin with!) was different than the restaurant menu. Seriously, we were just curious, not even trying to be jerks about it...but the guy who was supposedly the manager gave a snarky reply back along the line of "what does it matter?!", which felt really disrespectful to us as customers. He seemed very stressed out and curt. His attitude changed the way we viewed our experience at Tango. We decided not to order anything else, and left with a mental note that we would not come back. We were waiting for this restaurant to open for several months as we love tapas. Finally got in last night and it was a huge disappointment. Foods and drinks came out very fast. BUT everything was very bland. The drinks were bland. The artichokes: 4 pieces of cold pickled artichokes on some lettuce. The burrata: a burrata ball with a bland mushy something on the side and some lettuce. Burrata is quite easy to make it taste good. But they didn't put anything on it to make it good. The star of the show was spicy short ribs: they are the Korean bbq style ribs. The dish was cold, and the ribs were very hard and flavorless. We were unable to swallow most of it. And of course it's not spicy...or having any spices at all. This restaurant is the king of bland foods. We were wondering whether they even had a chef, or a real bartender. This was probably the worst meal we've had for a very long time. We were still hungry but decided to give up and didn't bother with dessert. How can they survive with this kind of foods here?
