We went to eat yesterday. The food is great, however we waited a long time for our food. This is of no fault of the waitress but the restaurant only had 1 waitress for the whole restaurant. The restaurant was full. She was taking orders, at the cashier, cleaning the tables, and answering phone calls. With all of this under her responsibility, of course service took a long time. Unbelievable. Horrible. NEVER COME HERE!!!! I was here for a DoorDash delivery on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 5:00 PM. The order was scheduled to be ready by 5:20 PM, it didn't end up being ready until 6:35 PM, after they repeatedly told me it'd be ready within 5-10 minutes for an hour. The diners in here have also been waiting for over 30 mins. And other dashers have been waiting for over 50 mins. Keep in mind this restaurant wasn't even packed (FAR FROM IT) and they still can't get an order correct or quick enough. Also two customers complained about their food not even being edible and demanded their money back. The waiting is atrocious, the smell is bad, and their aren't even enough tables for everyone to sit at. Until...(thanks to taking a Spanish class)...I wanted to try some Peruvian food after someone did a report on it. The little piggy inside me was at attention! So here's what we ordered... - Burrito Saltado ($6.99): It was so good! Combined with the arsenal of sauces - red, yellow, and green. Yah, I have no idea what they were but they were all tasty. I know the green one is the traditional kind. It wasn't huge and I would've easily finished it. Inside was tender beef, fries, rice, beans, and some other goodies. LOL - Sanguchon ($6.99): Essentially it's a grilled chicken sandwich. It has scrambled eggs, sautéed onions, and other yummy stuff. Very juicy and messy but those are things that I like. :) - Picarones ($6.99): Peruvian donuts! Yes, please! Sch-wing! :) These are fried to order and glazed with (I think) maple syrup. They don't taste like anything you will get at the donut shop and you get 6 pieces. Very filling for 2 people! - Inca Kola (close to 2 dollars): Finally! I get to taste what this was all about. I'm not a huge soda person. It tasted like pineapple, but smells like bubble gum. LOL It was ok but I was glad it was just a can or I would've had to force myself to finish it. - M...(passion fruit drink) ($2.10): I can't remember the name of it but it's orange in color. And the taste reminds me of a guava. It was good and I would've rather have had this than my Inca Kola. Total with tax and tip:$32.00. VERY reasonably priced! The place is not that big. Probably 8 tables or so. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. This is definitely a mom and pop place. There is no silverware. When they set up our place mat it was plastic spoons and forks. I thought that was weird for a restaurant, but it really didn't bother me. I decided to come here after the reviews on yelp. It's a very small place with limited seating and parking is limited as well but there is street parking. The food here was great. The fried rice was good, yucca fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, mussels were on the small side, but still good. If you're not into lime and citrus then skip the mussels, but I love it. The passion fruit juice was sweet and refreshing. I would definitely come back to eat here. I had to knock off a star for the awful condition of the bathroom, I felt dirtier when I came out of it. Just come with hand sanitizer instead. read more

Not the most amazing Peruvian I've had in my life. My sister and I were craving some lomo saltado so I came by since this was close. The price was reasonable and the portions were fine - not too much, not too little. But it was a tad bland. The flavor sort of hinted at a good lomo, but didn't satisfy the craving my sister and I had. In fact, it left us craving it even further. Almost like when you're hungry and you pass by a restaurant and the aroma makes your stomach crave that meal. Overall it wasn't bad, just wasn't great. I give it 4 stars because the guy who took my order and rang me up when I got there was super friendly, and that counts too. They did have a lomo saltado burrito, which kind of sounds interesting. Maybe I'll go back for that, but for traditional lomo I'll look elsewhere and see if I can find better first. read more

EXCELLENT! It is a kind of hol-in-the-wall type place, so I initially had my doubts. After sitting, it seemed like a family-owned/run restaurant. I am not Peruvian and anything outside of pizza and burgers is tough for me to try. So I got the closest thing to a burger. I ordered the Sanguchon and it was INCREDIBLE!!!! So so so so so good! My wife got the Lomo Saltado. She loved it. I loved it. Needless to say, we'll be back with more friends. BTW: what made it more affordable was using a restaurant.com certificate. The only Peruvian food I've had prior to this was my friend mom's cooking. The chicken was super savory, moist, and well seasoned. The sweet potato and plantain was amazing. They accidentally gave me the steamed sweet potato even though I asked for the fried one--it's all good it ended up being a good balance to have something steamed. They have three bomb sauces. Lomo saltado burrito?- I can't say it was my favorite- it was hard to balance the full flavor of the chicken and the lack of flavor in the burrito, although we got the food to go and due to an inevitable situation we ate the food 30 mins later- calamari was no longer crispy but good. Pollo a la Brasa - the chicken is seasoned nicely, and cooked well, so that it is not dry. Ceviche - we got the mixed ceviche, spicy. It was very tasty. Tangy, bold and clean flavors, and fresh seafood. It comes with half a yam, half a boiled potato, and some very large corn (I don't recall what this type is called, but it is good). Lomo saltado - this was a little on the salty side, and the meat could be a little more tender. But, it was tasty. I tried the yucca as one of my sides. Loved it. I really like the texture and flavor of yucca, and this was fried well, golden and crispy on the outside, not too greasy. I would definitely return if in the area again. read more

Such a good find in the SFV. It's a mom-&-pop run hole-in-the-wall that serves excellent Peruvian classics. I ordered the Arroz Chaufa and the fiancé ordered this top sirloin dish atop a mound of pesto pasta. It was certainly comfort food at its best. At first, we weren't sure how the seating worked since the employees were extremely busy attending to everyone and their mommas to get us a table. The place was bumping on a Sunday evening at 7:00 pm. But we were seated a couple of minutes later and service got better. The Arroz Chaufa had a generous amount of squid, shrimp, and fish. The rice was flavorful and the serving size was definitely enough for more than one meal. The fiancé's dish was also quite tasty; the beef was tender and well-seasonded while the pasta was scrumptious. Toward the end, one of the servers found out it was our first time at the restaurant so he offered us free samples of the Peruvian beverages they make in-house. So, so good. I really loved the Chicha Morada, their purple drink made of purple corn and pineapple. So refreshing! When we return, I'll definitely order a glass. Parking is tricky (i.e., narrow spaces and very few). The bathroom ain't the cleanest either. read more

Finally had the chance to try takatis and I must say it was quite good. Ordered the 1/4 pollo ala brasa with a side rice and french fries. The chicken was warm and full of flavor. The fries were nicely cooked. As was the rice. The only thing the rice was missing was a hint of garlic. But the sauces are what makes the meal even better. I honestly think the meal would be somewhat bland if it weren't for those sauces. They are delicious and spicy but not too spicy where you can't handle it. We also Ordered a pitcher of chicha morada which looks very similar to jamaica. This drink is so refreshing on a hot day. On a separate occasion I also tried the jalea de mariscos and the ceviche de pescado. WOW! Both of these are amazing and full of flavor. The ceviche was excellent. Don't forget the leche de Tigre. So I have had this place book marked for awhile now. Today was the day to try it! 3 stars does not account for the service. He was wonderful, very attentive, very friendly. 3 stars was based on the other factors. For me the food was really good but something was missing. The calamari was very large but a little too chewy, I like that it came with yucca and plantain. The lomo saltado was well cooked, extremely good quality meat, good amount of sauce, but was lacking a certain seasoning I feel. Overall everything was good it just wasn't what we expected. The prices were very high too. 3 drinks, 1 appetizer, and 2 entrees came to around 71$ for lunch. It wasn't a bad experience just wasn't what was expected. read more

Horrible customer service. I called and wanted to place an order when I was 5 minutes away to eat there and I was told it wasn't possible. Once I arrived at 8:00 I told the waiter I had an hour drive home so I was in a hurry. At 8:40 I asked how much longer before we got our food and was told 15 additional minutes. We told them we couldn't wait any more and the waiter said he would ask the manager to waive our drinks for the inconvenience. As a peruvian, i have mixed feelings about this place. Certain dishes were on the spot while others were not. My top orders were papa la huancaina, tallarin verde, and lomo saltado. Sauces were really good and just the right amount of spicy. La huancaina was real good, one of the best I've tried in all LA. Ceviche was average, lots of onions and barely any fish. Pollo a la brasa lacked a bit of flavor. Ordered picarones as well, and they were not bad. Lacked the flavor of anis, one of the main ingredients but they were crunchy and soft in the inside. Definitely not the fanciest Peruvian place I've been to, but 100% authentic. It only took one look around at the staff and the menu, and I was immediately reminded of the kind of places you find all over Lima and Cuzco. We didn't have the chicken, which as you can read people rave about, but I can vouch for the "country ham", which was excellent, and definitely something they went looking for. The bread is homemade which is also a very good sign, and I'm pretty sure they were making their own chicha as well. Just one warning which has NOTHING to do with the restaurant, if you are handicapped the two handicapped spaces are either in violation of code or very close to it...and that's on the landlord. One is quite narrow and the other has a large post in the middle of the unloading area. read more
