I wouldn't go back. We ordered two sides as offered on their website: yucca and rice and beans. When we arrived, we were told they don't "do" rice and beans (wat.), so they just gave us beans. I asked if they could do half and half and they said no because there's no way to charge it. Just wondering how much rice actually costs to make? Maybe 50 cents? The chicken was just ok. Of course I never turn down food. We ordered the rotisserie chicken which is one of their specialties. It was marinated with the perfect amount of seasonings, juicy and tender. The chicken can only be ordered with both white and dark meat. The portions are definitely big enough to share. They also are known for their Lomo Saltado and the Papa a la Huancaina. The Lomo Saltado has strips of rib eye marinated in vinegar, stir fried w/red onions, parsley, and tomatoes. My friend loved it! The Papa a la Huancaina is boiled potato salad in a creamy Peruvian Huancaina Sauce. So divine. But they are most famous for their Sangu Chon. It's is a Peruvian sandwich made with chicken, tomato, lettuce, fried yams, egg, and cheese. It's topped with their crispy fries and house sauce. Finger licking good! On my second visit I ordered the rotisserie chicken, plantains, and yucca. Plantains are a type of banana that are fried. Plantains are sometimes referred to as the pasta and potatoes of the Caribbean. They are sweet, moist, and fried on the outside leaving them crispy but soft in the inside. Takatis plantains were exactly that. The yucca which is a Peruvian vegetable tastes close to what a potato tastes like. Takatis yucca was crispy, but not dry, just how yucca should taste. On one of the visits we had to wait a little longer than expected but we were given some complimentary appetizers while we waited. I thought that was very nice of them. The chicken recipe has changed but it is still AMAZING! The meat will fall off the bone and melt in your mouth. The only drawback is the parking, if you can't find parking in the lot you will have to park on the street. But it's totally worth it. My FAVORITE Peruvian restaurant in Los Angeles. When we first came here, about 4 years ago I always thought a sign of a good Peruvian place was them serving bread and aji sauce. This place didn't serve that and I was slightly disappointed. We ordered our meals, got the three sauces they make and it was the most delicious Peruvian we have ever had. Yes, you heard me, the BEST. I can't even eat at other places. Their attention to detail is impeccable. And their Pollo Al La Brasa, Lomo Saltado are to die for. husbands favorite. Tacu Tacu. But my favorite? The ceviche mixto. When we bring a group, we will order ceviche to share as an appetizer and I'll order my own ceviche for dinner. I just can't get enough. Everytime i go to a Peruvian restaurant for me its very difficult cuz obviously me as Peruvian i look for very authentic flavor . Its true sometimes they are not the friendly but in this case im not coming for their service im coming for their chicken and some other dishes, today service was good. I always order their chicken with french fries which are fresh cut and their fried sweet potatoe as well which are also fresh cut . My husband orders all the time their famous Sanguchon which has chicken, lettuce, sweet potato, egg and cheese topped off with papitas al hilo and their house sauce . I have tried their causa rellena and its delicious you could tell its very fresh . They have like 4 types of hot sauces and their mayo they also make it. I stumbled across this place (thanks to Yelp) when in desperate need for food on a Sunday afternoon. I tried the Sanguchon, a sandwich that has since then completely changed my life. Its true. Lomo Saltado - Rib eye fireworks for your senses. So clean. So pure. So real. Tacu Tacu - Rib eye again - it might be the first dish you ever eat without saying a single word, shaking your head, chewing with your eyes closed, imagining paradise. Its so flavorful and so deep, I suggest at least an hour of alone time afterward so you can fully enjoy what just happened. If you like seafood, the rumor is: Ceviche! Takatis is a little family run spot kinda close to the orange line (yay I love when work takes you to delicious places!) they have a small seating area of about 8-10 tables. I went with the quarter chicken meal with 2 sides (fries and rice) which was around $7. I also went with one of their fresh made juices (I forgot what it was called, it was a Peruvian word so I'd probably misspell it anyways - anyways the purple juice) it had apples, a Peruvian something in it, and cinnamon, it was delicious and the white person in me would describe it as "Christmassy". It was served cold (iced) however they were saying that it is brewed hot and then chilled, so I wonder what it would taste like warm.... Anyways, I digress. Delicious food, good portions. It's a fairly small hole-in-the-wall restaurant located in dingy part of town and tucked away inside a small strip lot. The decor is clean, modern, simple and casual. There visually enticing menu with pictures of their dishes steered me to the lomo saltado which I recently tried and to me the proper way to judge a Peruvian restaurant. This generous dose of carbs is composed of sautéed sliced beef, vegetables and french fries served over a bed of white rice. Although decent tasting, the meat was to thinly slice and the portions small. Compared to other places which comes with soup and bread, it was slightly expensive, especially at $15. Also, the green aji sauce that I so often love and usually end up squirting all over my food was watery and not as spicy. Overall - service was friendly and helpful, but unfortunately my lomo saltado wasn't on par and will need to be satisfied elsewhere. read more

Tried for the first time ever in my life a Lomo Saltado burrito and let me tell you. My taste buds enjoyed it from start to finish. The service was so so. The food was deliciously hot. The portions were really good. Definitely a small spot so maybe call ahead and order or get take out. I ordered a 1/4 a chicken with 2 sides and the they were both really delicious. The chicken falls off the bone. The Maracuilla (I think that's how you spell it) was good. We also ordered a Tallarin Saltado with steak and it was a big portion, enough to share for two. We split the burrito saltado and the half chicken with two sides. For the sides I tried the plantains and he tried the yucca. The burrito was pretty good. The steak in it was a little dry but still had great flavor. The chicken wasn't as great as everyone raves about. I thought it wasn't very juicy but the flavor on the skin was good. The best thing about this place were the sauces! The sauces they have here are SO good. I wanted to put them all in my purse and take them home :p. They are pretty "pricey" if you are looking for dinner under $10. But the Pollo Saltado was about $12.99 plus tax which is pretty standard for this dish. 3. They had take-out so YAY! But they also have a cute little eating area so I will be back to dine in. 4. Its fast food without the speed. I suggest calling in and picking up if you have the chance. The wait was a little over 20 mins. I really enjoyed my Pollo Saltado (which is just a Peruvian version of chicken fried rice). It had the standard composition of chicken, onions , tomatoes, rice and fries. It was certainly tasty but not the best I've ever had. Great starter dish for those who never had Peruvian food. Tallarin Saltado, the best I have had at any Peruvian places. To me (yes, to me). I don't really live near Takatis, and I go here at least once every 3 weeks. Our waitress knows us pretty well and knows what I come here for. I have scoured most of LA to find another tallarin spot, and they are never up to par with Takatis. I did notice they use linguini, where most places use spaghetti. Maybe that's what holds in the flavor a lot better. Since other places used spaghetti, the noodles seem to have a watery taste to them. I am just saying I have no idea how pastas work. Their polla a la brasa is so dirty, it looks like it has been rolled in mud. But did I mention that's why it's full of flavor. Chicken so tender I eat it like I was in a cartoon. You know, take a whole piece, slide it in your mouth (get your mind out of the gutter boy) and pull it out and that bone is literally bone dry. So god forsaken juicy. One time I came here and I was being adventurous and I got my sweet potato steamed. Who does that? So I had to try it. I was quite disappointed with Takatis. Perhaps I just had a dish that wasn't the greatest as I should have probably ordered the chicken, but I didn't. I ordered the $15 seafood ceviche and although I appreciated that the dish was light (probably one of the less heavy dishes) it was drowning in citrus. It was too sour. In fact I traveled to Peru a couple years ago and can testify that this is not only delicious it is authentic too! I always order the Lomo Saltado, Yuca Frita con Huancaina suave and a whole chicken to go. By far the best rotisserie chicken around. Costco can't touch this bird!!
