Bowl was small (12oz maybe, see picture for size reference) I've never bitten into a piece of shrimp that had the same consistency of mashed potato's. Super soft and mushy. Definitely a first. I paid $18 for this. No sides, no drink. The customer service part of this wasn't any better. Not very informative, seemed unapproachable. Heard the hype about a black owned Chicago inspired restaurant and upon my first visit I was overly excited and impressed. The restaurant is located off Harry Hines in a location that's a little easy to miss if your not paying attention right next to what appears to be some apartments. Nothing too entirely fancy about the place itself but they have TV's and enough seating to accommodate about 20+ people. This place can get packed but average wait time will be about 15-20m while they prepare the food. My first visit was on a Tuesday when they were having their taco special. Everyday of the week there is a special , whether, catfish, wings, etc. The Grecian chicken tacos were very good and a good size as well. It reminded me of a buttery Alfredo like chicken . The fries were also a good addition to this meal. The lemonades both time I've went were very good, Tigers blood and the coconut are pretty sweet and hit the spot well. Second visit was a busy. I opted to try the jerk chicken pasta and someone in the kitchen either was ready to go home and didn't care or was just too heavy handed on the black pepper. Over powered the meal and I should have sent it back. The Philly cheesesteak was delicious. Now if you are visiting this place , make sure you look at your receipt carefully. Something didn't add up after doing the math . After the meals and service charge that they add, there was about two dollars and some change not on the receipt itself. Definitely some of the best food I've had since moving to Dallas. The menu has options for everyone but they are Chicago natives so you can see the Chicago flair in their menu. My friend and I ordered multiple items including the super cheesesteak and the catfish Poboy. Everything was seasoned to perfection and pipping hot when we got it. The lady working the register gladly answered all of our questions as it was our first time there. They also have a wide array of lemonade flavors ranging from pineapple to wedding cake. My expectations were high due to the social media postings. First two orders left a lot to be desired.

I was a first time visitor at this place. A large oxtail plate costed $41.50 added drink was $3.78. Large portion of dirty rice with 4 large oxtails. Very very tender with an awesome smoke taste. Only negative was the saltiness of the food and the salad was served chopped up in small pieces with way too many onions and bell peppers. Was the price high ? Been seeing this place on social media for the longest time and has always looked so good. So on my birthday when I had a chance to be in the area I had to check this place out and not goin lie kinda disappointed. We were the first one in the restaurant when we ordered and told I was going to take 20-30 minutes by the cook we ordered a lot of food so it's understandable. I try to be really considerate and patient seeing how my full time time job is working in the kitchen but after 55 minutes of sitting in the restaurant we finally got our food and I wasn't very impressed after the long wait time I got a Philly cheese steak which the steak was lacking flavor but the cheese wiz and mild sauce were saving it. I also added two wings to my order the wing were greasy and flavorless without the mild sauce (which is delicious) my girlfriend had the catdaddy poboy which was okay when I taste it but the wasn't crispy at all. Heard about this place and wanted to give it a try and they had great reviews. We ordered wings and seasoned potatoes and lemonade. I love supporting black businesses will continue. All orders are made to go and we like that. But overall, Tace Buds isn't it. The wings are ok, lacked flavor. We ordered the seasoned potatoes. They were BARELY seasoned and too lacked flavor. And with it being fresh there was no crisp to them......was soft/soggy. Another big disappointment was the lemonade. They are serving Country Time lemonade, and taxing 3.50. Tacebuds is one of the best places I have EVER eaten at (and I'm a foodie). Their flavor combinations are so perfect. The jerk rice bowl is heavenly. I've never tasted anything I could even compare it to. Everyone is super nice and friendly. People have complained about the wait times, but all the food is made to order. We ordered the daily special (catfish) right off the menu figuring it would be quicker because it was the special. We were wrong as it took about 45 minutes before we received our order. Tonight was no better. It is Thursday and I ordered the special again only this time it was 3 pieces of chicken and fries. The order I placed at 5:24p was not ready until 6:10p. Our first time trying this spot was after 11 p.m. during the week.. We placed a phone order for the large oxtail pizza (12")... We were told we had to pay over the phone using cash app when we placed the order (not sure if it's what we ordered or it's their policy), which wasn't a problem... The order taker gave us a total of $39.34, which didn't make since cause online it stated the pizza costs $35, and plus tax it should have been like $37.89 (we didn't ask, just paid, prices change, so whatever).. He wasn't sure if the payment went through or not, but he gave us an order number... He was ending the call, but we asked if he received the payment cause we didn't want to get to the restaurant and there be a problem... He asked if we sent the payment, and we said yes... He said well that's it and gave us our order number again... We weren't sure how long it would be before the order was ready so we arrived between 12-15 minutes later... Our pizza was ready and the cashier was nice... They weren't busy at all, in fact there was no one in line when we picked up our pizza... There were only 2 customers dining in; however, it was after 11 p.m. during the week and they close at midnight.. We checked our pizza before leaving and noticed it had thick yellow cheese, and the meat was very sparingly... The large oxtail pizza we received looked nothing like the social media hype (white cheese with loads of oxtail meat)... We weren't going to judge a book by it's cover, plus we had basically just paid $40 for this pizza.. Their large oxtail pizza is equivalent in size to a Dominoes medium pizza (12")... The pizza was cut into a total of 8 slices.. The first couple of bites of the pizza was a 9, and it was cause of the meat (definitely not cause of the cheese)... We could taste the smoke flavor of the meat, which was great, but the cheese wasn't good and it had no stretch at all.. Once we continued eating the pizza it went downhill.. The cheese really messed the pizza up and the red pizza sauce was runny on a few of the slices... We added crushed red peppers to our pizza to try and help, but it didn't... We were expecting a bit more not just for the amount we paid, but cause of Tace Buds' and other people's social media pics, videos, and suggestions... I found this place through my instagram algorithm and noticed that it was black owned. So I decided to give it a try. Most importantly the oxtail pizza caught my attention. So I get to the restaurant close to closing time. The menu isn't really easy to read and the prices that they charge you are different from what's on the menu. I wanted a small oxtail pizza and a small steak pizza. I was informed by the cashier that they only had large pizzas. I should've known then it was some Bs. Anyway I purchased 2 pizzas, 2 egg rolls, some watered down koolaid and a bottle of water, totaling $80. The pizza had way too much cheese and only a small portion of meat. Honestly, it's not worth the money. I'll rate the pizza 3/10. The egg rolls were a good size but not worth $10 for 2. The atmosphere is cool but not welcoming enough to want to eat there.
