This place was good! I was looking for some place gluten free to go to while in Baltimore with my friend. We ordered an appetizer each as well as entrees. You seat yourself and then they come to you with some menus. Then they come back periodically. The food though so good. Would go back and as I was there definitely saw a lot of people from the neighborhood picking up.

Baltimore Bakery Crawl stop #7 of seven places! My best friend, her college bestie, her husband, and I spent Sunday 2/2 exploring different Baltimore bakeries. I tried one thing here, so this review is based on that! This bakery/restaurant combo wasn't originally on our bakery crawl list. One of my besties back home used to live in bmore and is gluten-free. I promised her if we were nearby I'd get her the nutella cupcake she requested. Since we were already there, we ordered one for our group too. The person at the cashier was really sweet in helping us pack up the cupcakes. There was a lot of seating available inside and some outside. While I loved how moist the cake part was, the frosting was way too sweet for me. We all found the cupcake to be more chocolate than nutella. The only hazelnut flavor we could place was the hazelnut half on top. We weren't crazy about the cupcake we shared, but my friend back home was beyond happy to have something gluten-free that she likes so much.

    Yummy gluten-free cupcakes.

Yummy , Rich, Gluten -Free Goodness ! Sweet 27 is always a fabulous treat. If you are gluten free like myself, then search no further, this is the spot for you. I can't begin to describe how grateful I am for local businesses such as this who cater to the gluten-free folks. They have obviously placed alot of time and energy perfectly their recipes and it definitely shows. I've been here several times, but this time I purchased a few of their cupcakes for my husband and I to share. I bought the tiramisu cupcake, my favorite hostess cupcake, peanut butter chocolate, and chocolate/caramel turtle with pecans cupcake. I'm a huge lover of chocolate and these treats do not disappoint. Moist, soft, delightful deliciousness lol They offer full size cakes as well for special occasions. This place is my go to. They also have wine, other drinks, and an entire Indian restaurant attached too. I've tried the dinner food and its very good as well. It's literally a one stop shop lol. Great indoor and outdoor seating, and eclectic decor. I truly love stopping by when I can.

I stopped by for lunch. Sweet 27 has always been an oldie but goodie!! I didn't order my usual, orange chicken. I ordered chicken tikka masala with a side of cabbage. I wanted it a bit more spicy but it was good nonetheless. Sweet 27 can be a bit pricey for the pocket to portion ratio. My meal for a meat rice and side totaled to 29.26 which included a tip. I don't know this is a place I'd bring the family as it can be costly. I do wish they would run some lunch specials. I have never been disappointed in the service or food. It's always great. I love the space as it's great for a date night or a brief break from the office.

Orange Tofu with two sides of garlic mashed potatoes and the sweet potato

How good is this?! Well we are from SC and last week we were going to see our daughter who lives in Baltimore for dinner. Asked her to pick a place and she chose Sweet 27 Cafe and Bakery because everything is gluten free which her dad, my Honey needs due to allergies. And tonight, as we were driving back from MA to SC, we decided to return back to this restaurant even though our daughter wasn't available, to try some different dishes. Still ordered the sweet potato as the side again as it's amazing to me. Honey ordered the Orange Tofu with the Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes. I ordered the Aloo Naan Bread and the Arancini Rice Ball since I was going to gobble up Honey's Sweet Potatoes that I fell in love with the week before. And it wasn't a one time fluke, it was delicious!! And Honey, who doesn't really like sweet potatoes tried it and really enjoyed it too. I so wish I could get the recipe. I was lucky enough to get one piece of Naan from the basket since Honey ate them all up, creating mini wraps of his orange tofu and mashed potatoes and some of (my ) sweet potatoes, or dipping it into the orange sauce. The tofu was delicious though last week's tomato tofu was better since we both felt the orange was a bit too sweet for a meal. Still yummy and the tofu. Oh, and since they had GF and some vegan desserts, we again got some this time but for different items. Honey chose the Hostess. And after some prompting, I had been having so many desserts the previous few days in Boston and thought it would be better to curtail the sweets, I chose the raspberry ganache tart (I think . . I remembered it said raspberry and tart, and it was so good that it blew our minds since gf and vegan too). The Hostess was incredible too. For the "cream" it must have been coconut cream which tends to have that coconut oil texture and flavor. The "cake" part of it was moist and delicious too. Extremely impressed. I sent pix of the desserts to our daughter who works at another bakery down a few blocks and has come here to buy desserts since her roommates need to eat GF, to please befriend folks here to learn the recipe to send to us or else she's going to have her dad and mom come visit often for these fantastic food!! The desserts are not cheap as the Hostess was $4 or $4.50 which is standard for cupcakes and a great price for specialty like GF. The tart must have been $8 or $8.50. One would think that's high, but then again, when you order a slice of dessert at a restaurant, that's the standard price. Yet, when you taste these desserts, you'd be willing to pay for these. We had the same woman both weeks. She was nice and friendly but in a more reserved way, giving you space to enjoy your meal and company. She automatically brought out an extra plate without our asking. If we lived in Baltimore, it would definitely be our favorite and would be a regular. We came on Sundays both times, but the restaurant has other activities on other nights . . . Ie Happy Hour (there's a whole section for the bar which was closed on Sundays), there's also outdoor seating that must be open on other nights. So many items to choose from

Little caveat to my review is that I got this food delivered - so I can only speak to the quality of the food (and not the ambiance, service, etc.). With that being said - the food I received, even after a delivery wait time, was absolutely wonderful!!! I got the rice balls, chicken parm, and pumpkin muffins. First off - I could not even tell that any of it was "gluten free." (I was actually truly worried that it wasn't but then I had no reaction!) The pumpkin muffins were something I could not stop thinking about and I truly wish I could have them every day for breakfast.

Sooo I've been driving by here for at least three months and today I said no more! I parked and got out. I had no idea it was like a whole restaurant, it being a bakery caught my attention. I went in with the idea to purchase maybe just two cupcakes to try them out, but it was something about how pretty and wonderfully made these cupcakes looked, sooo I ended up getting about 10 cupcakes , the staff was so nice and I couldn't wait to get back to my car to try one and hunniiii, let me to tell you something. I had the carrot cake cupcake 1st and it was THEE ABSOLUTE BEST CUPCAKE IN MY LIFE! My two daughters, son and my mom all had cupcakes and they LOVED THEM!!!! Thank me later, pull-up & get you some!!! Not too mention the decor was super cute.. it was giving very multi-cultural and I loved it!

Veggie fritters (Cauliflower, eggplant, potato, spinach cooked with chickpea flour)

I recently decided to cut gluten out of my diet to see how I might feel. The bad news is, I most likely have a gluten intolerance. The good news is, I have Sweet 27 nearby to keep me sane. This place is a gem. They have a completely gluten free menu including baked goods, Indian fusion dishes, and even a bar inside that is open on weekends. I recently ordered their chicken fried rice and I am obsessed. It's not your typical Chinese style fried rice but instead, it's their own take on this comforting dish. The chicken is seasoned to perfection and super tender. The rice is more of a longrain/basmati style rather than your typical jasmine rice. The veggies are plentiful and fresh. I also ordered their tofu bites, the veggie fritters, and their famous Batata Vada. My favorites are definitely the tofu bites and the Batata Vada. The Batata Vada is a potato fritter dipped in chickpea batter (remember, no gluten babyyy) and served with your typical mint sauce and tamarind sauce. SO GOOD. Pro tip: I like to save some of the dipping sauce and stir it into my fried rice for an extra razzle dazzle. I also tried the pumpkin muffins recently and was pleasantly surprised. They taste better when you let them sit out for a bit since they do refrigerate them. These weren't quite as unnoticeable of a gluten free option as everything else, but still impressive enough and satisfied my hankering for baked goods. All in all, I'm a huge fan. I WILL be back... like, maybe right this second.

Chocolate Raspberry Ganache Cupcake, Cookies and Cream Cupcake, Hostess Cupcake, Vanilla Birthday Cake Cupcake, Red Velvet Cupcake
    Ellen H.

I've been excited to try their desserts and ordered five cupcakes to bring to a family dinner. Out of all five, I'd only reorder two - the vanilla birthday cake cupcake and the red velvet cupcake. They were moist, well-baked, and just the right sweetness. The hostess cupcake was an extremely weird consistency, like a thick, underbaked brownie. I could barely get the wrapped off, it was stuck to the gooey cupcake inside. It felt like eating melted fudge and the consistency really threw me off. The chocolate raspberry ganache cupcake was fine, but it didn't really stand out from the rest of the cupcakes and the cake was pretty dense and it became denser in your mouth. A raspberry jam or drizzle would go a long way. The cookies and cream was baked well, but it barely had any flavor. I was expecting a pretty sweet flavor but it was very muted, even the icing wasn't very sugary. However, if you like toned down desserts or can't take too much sugar, this one's for you! I've only tried dessert so far, but I've read some great reviews about some dishes I want to try for lunch and dinner soon!

Sudden emergence of a sweet tooth? And specifically for vegan cupcakes? Never fear...Sweet 27 Cafe and Bakery has got your back! I was pleasantly surprised to see that Sweet 27 had a wide variety of vegan cupcake offerings! A few weeks ago, I ordered a vegan German chocolate cupcake and 2 vegan chocolate/raspberry ganache cupcakes. These cupcakes were AMAZING! I cannot emphasize enough how delicious, rich, and decadent these cupcakes were. I'm certain that a non-vegan would love these cupcakes just as much as I did! I can't wait to try more of the vegan cupcake offerings at Sweet 27, perhaps when I next get a sweet tooth!

What a find! So happy my book club picked this place. The happy hour deals are amazing; I got a so much food at such reasonable price- I was able to eat a large hearty meal, with two beers for around $20! I picked the General Tso Tofu, with rice & a beer deal. They gave me a hearty portion of rice, with herbs on top, that tasted so fresh. The tofu was cooked perfectly; nice and crispy, no soggyness, with ideal amount of sauce-not smothered. It tasted like a home cooked meal, prepared with love. The staff was super friendly-just know they do sit back and give you your space; we had to call them over when we were ready for the bill. They also let us sit at an up-top table instead of bar area only happy hour, because our group was so large. I definitely want to go back and try different happy hour specials and menu items. I saw someone nearby get the chicken wings and they look large and juicy!

I was in PD this week in the city and there was a day where I couldn't have the catered lunch. All fine and dandy because I finally got to try something from Sweet 27! It was just tacos but the mix of proteins and veggies were perfect! These chicken tacos were STACKED! Took me right back to Mexico. I just remembered that I also order collard greens w/carrots. Melted like butter in my mouth, perfectly juicy. Only thing missing for me was bacon. Sorry not sorry I like my greens with bacon cooked in. Just adds a little soul to it. Will definitely have to come try some desserts!

We requested outdoor seating, request granted. The upstairs patio is spacious and comfortable; fans helping to cool the summer afternoon. We ordered the Salmon BLT and the deviled eggs topped with lump crabmeat, along with (1) coffee, (2) mimosas and (1) white sangria- which was my favorite. Everything was delicious, and the patio was a great place to unwind after our hike. The music --a high-energy playlist from the night before (i assumed) still on an active loop. Although we were there on a Monday at lunchtime, the dining area quickly became busy and loud. We ordered some crab dip, which they were able to provide some gluten-free bread for. I really liked the crab dip! It was creamy and flavorful. After placing some salad orders, the food came out, but we were not brought utensils to eat. The meat was not cooked how we asked for it to be, and one of the plates had to be sent back to be cooked more. After around 20 minutes, we were finally given forks to start eating. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad and despite my fish being a bit underdone, it was pretty good. I wish there was more dressing on the salad though because it was a bit bland and dry. It also seemed like our waiter was super stressed as he was genuinely running through the restaurant at times.

The sandwich is on a steam bun which had a sweetness to it. The chicken thigh is large and filling, seasoned well and goes well with the mayo, pickles and herbs. After reviewing everything, I settled on the tempuras Broccoli and the Neighborhood Bird Bun. Service was very quick and they had us in and out of there. They even had stickers for us to grab! Food: Tempura Broccoli-first few bites were amazing. Then I got to the bottom of the box and the house made vinegar threw off the texture for me as they became soggy so I didn't get to finish them. The chicken was huggggeeee and likely was a chicken thigh, which was a good touch. Ur was juicy and fried to perfection. The herbs provided a well balance and the bao bun was everything. I smashed!!! I would definitely go back and try a different bun. Overall 4.5 out of 5 stars!

He was great and so attentive during our entire visit. Overall, a shoutout to the whole team! I bought a shirt and the gentlemen (I did not get his name) was so helpful and was so kind even though he had to walk upstairs to check their stock for my size! For food, where do I begin? We ordered majority of their shared plates rather than the mains. The hashbrowns were probably my favorite! The outer layer was so crunchy and paired beautifully with the crème fraiche and the caviar. I will say personally, the caviar choice of using salmon is not my personal favorite and would have rather paired the paddlefish caviar (which comes with the champagne shot). The saltiness from the paddlefish would pair better with the hashbrowns since I did think it was under seasoned. The deviled eggs were also delicious and I would recommend the one with the pimento cheese! For drinks, I would highly recommend the cotton candy spritz! It looks so fun and love how it changes the color of the drink when you melt the candy inside. The fried chicken, their main attraction was good but definitely on the pricier side of $42 for the entire chicken. That said, it was delicious, nice crunch and seasoning. If you opt for the sauce, I do recommend the gochujang bbq. The flavor is well balanced, not too sweet or spicy and paired beautifully with the fried chicken. The chicken does also come with a side of biscuits and it was mildly addicting with the honey butter that it came with!
