I was waiting for a while, when I heard someone else's name called and noticed a drink sitting on the counter on the opposite side. It would have nice to be told that they came out on the other side, or simply handed to me since I was in your view. Also grabbed some lemon bites, which were good- strong lemon flavor though. The staff are always helpful and super friendly. I had to return my vegetable barley soup. It was so nasty. There was cream in it which didn't make sense to me and it certainly didn't help with the flavor. My wife agreed, it tasted nasty. I returned it and got the lentil soup. It's been awhile since I have reviewed basically bc the quality seemed to have slipped over the last three yrs. BUT...thanks to barista MS. TAMMY, I'M BAAAAACK!!! Her latte was one of the best that I've had in Baltimore years! And I do not kid around when it comes to espresso drinks!!! I recently discovered this cozy spot located in Belvedere square. The staff is great and gave really good recommendations. The time of a kind was perfect. One pancake. One egg and one piece of bacon. It was perfect. This is the best thing to order when don't want anything too heavy but a little bit of everything. The grits were okay. I really enjoyed the chai latte as well. read more

We had an early start in Baltimore and we're hungry after a few hours but many places weren't yet open for lunch. Came to Atwater's for coffee and got so much more. All of the food was good. The buttermilk pancakes, the eggs, the breakfast meat. The chicken apple sausage had a great mild flavor. The cinnamon bun was so good - it had more lemon than cinnamon - I love lemon, but hubby is a cinnamon purist. And the service - so helpful and friendly. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. It's in the Belvedere food hall, so people watching is an added treat. I just stopped in for a piece of chocolate cake but, all they had was a mini Bundt cake for $8.32. The line was pretty short and service was pleasant. I was in and out. I have to say that I opened the bag in the car. Now what I didn't like is that the cake was not wrapped. It was just placed inside of a brown paper bag. That was a turn off. Once I got past that I took a bite and I must say it was just what I was looking for nice and rich. I would definitely be willing to return only hoping that in the future they either put the cake in a container or at least wrap it in something. read more

My uncle brought me two of their muffins to-go - banana nut and carrot. The carrot one was very moist. I'm not a big cream cheese fan, but there was such a small amount that it wasn't overpowering in the carrot muffin. Banana nut was good too. The staff was very friendly. The line moved fast. I love the vegan golden milk latte. Ginger tumeric and spices will always be my go to hot drink. The omelette was good. It needed salt and pepper but once added it was very good. You could taste the fresh eggs and vegetables in it. You order your food at the register and they bring it to your table. You then take your plates and silverware to a busting table if you'd like. There is a gentleman that comes around and cleans the tables. I enjoy homey casual spots like Atwaters. Initially I wanted to give two stars, but I'll admit I do like the Strawberry lemonade. Very on the sweet side but is refreshing and has good flavor. The service is usually quick and friendly. Which is very nice. But let's talk food. First it is very expensive for deli sandwiches. I don't mind paying for a good sandwich yet, not even a poorly made, barely any cheese and one piece of bacon for a "cheddar and bacon grilled cheese" is not acceptable especially at $10.95. I've had other sandwiches as well, which were average nothing special about them, yet still very pricey. The parking is easy. And it is in a cool market ambiance. read more

I love visiting Atwater's for a great latte, and their Orange and Chocolate Latte is all I can think of at the moment! Atwater's offers dairy free milk so vegans can enjoy a specialty coffee with ease. Additionally, they told me all their syrups are vegan, however I would consistently double check that in case they stock a new one for a seasonal drink. They had 3 seasonal lattes to pick from, and you can also order a simple espresso drink if you do not enjoy new flavors and syrups. I got their oat milk latte with orange and chocolate syrup added and I regret ordering the 12 oz instead of the 16 oz size. My drink came out quickly and the service was perfect. I was in heaven with every sip I took. When I finished my drink there were even actual orange bits at the bottom I ate and enjoyed. My only critique for Atwater's is please add more vegan food options to your menu! I appreciate how easy it is to order beverages, but I would really like the chance to order a tofu scramble or the avocado toast with vegan egg. I heard they once had tofu on their menu, and I hope it makes a comeback as veganism continues to grow in popularity. read more

Belvedere Square has a lot of good eateries inside so I didn't think that Atwater's would disappoint. A lot of families and teachers at the school I work at were raving and giving their food high reviews. Because of this, I decided to try brunch. Once we found a table, we were greeted promptly by our waitress. Service was great. No complaints at all. We started off with drinks. I got a mimosa and my boyfriend got a sangria. Very delicious. I was tempted to get another mimosa but decided not to because they are $7 a glass. Everything on the menu sounded so good and I couldn't decide. Most of the food seemed locally sourced or made in-house. I settled on the Huevos ranchero with chicken sausage. The food didn't take too long to come out. Because of this, I was surprised to find that my food wasn't very warm when it made its way to the table. Kind of disappointing. I wasn't a fan of my food. It was missing something but I couldn't pinpoint it. I added some salt and pepper and it helped but it still needed more spice or something. It was just bland. My boyfriend was complaining about the taste of his eggs with his meal. It pretty much ate everything but his eggs. Maybe we got the wrong things to try on the menu or brunch isn't a good time to go. Choose to sit outside on a warm morning if the option is available. I did and enjoyed the ambience while reading a book and eating a bowl of shrimp and grits. The grits were seedy for a lack of a better word. I never had to chew grits before as I did. Grits should melt in your mouth or slide down easily. I had to put in a lot of effort to get these to go down. There were plenty of shrimp, laden in butter, bacon, and cheese. I enjoyed my cucumber lemonade far better than my meal. I used to like Atwater's. I used to come here all the time. I think those days are gone. This is the SECOND time this exact scenario has happened. I placed an order for 2 sandwiches ($34). No sides. No drinks. I then proceed to sit and then stand about a foot from their take out walk up area for over 30 minutes. No food comes out for me. This started at 10:45 am on a Tuesday! It was completely dead. Atwater's was the only place open in the market as far as I could tell. It was not noisy or crowded. My name isn't called. Finally they called a name that sort of sounded like mine so I checked to see if it was my order and they were just mangling my name. It wasn't. I asked how much longer it was going to be. She couldn't find my order then finally said it was "out" already. It wasn't sitting there. She said it must have been stolen??? I feel like they are punishing me for actually coming in and placing a to go order in person. That really seems to puzzle them. It seems basic to me! Twice now this has happened. Something is wrong here and it's not me. No one calls my name. No one looks at me or notices me standing there for 30 minutes and then magically, when I ask where my order is it is "missing" and they are super confused and snotty about it. If you don't want in person orders then admit it. Other places have gone online take out ordering only. Go for it if you can't handle in person ordering. She didn't even seem to actually remember putting my order out or calling for me. It was so strange. If it was "stolen", how is that happening? There were barely any orders coming in or out. It was a very odd time of the day. I truly don't know what is going on here. I want to support small businesses but I think there should be a baseline of service (like actually making and serving an order) that should be there. Atwater's isn't at that basic level anymore. I finally just asked for a refund as they had no clue where my food was or how long it would be. Last time I let them "remake" the food and it took a full hour before I had my hands on my order. I love this place! I went a little before noon for a working lunch with a colleague. To my surprise, there was no line which was great (it did get busy though). Wait staff were friendly and efficient. I love how they take your phone number and text you when it's ready. It was not even a 10 minute wait. I orderEd the chicken bacon avocado sandwich which did not disappoint. The chicken and bacon were perfectly cooked, the greens and avocado were fresh and it was a delightful sandwich. I only ate half (it was huge) and took the rest home for my husband who also loves Atwater's! I also took home a package of the almond shortbread cookies which were amazing. We came here several times during our visit to Baltimore. They're pretty fast, friendly and we enjoyed everything we ordered. I've tried: DRINKS - Latte w/ lavender vanilla (4.5/5) highly recommend! My husband said they make their own syrups. I've never had the combination of lavender and vanilla together, but really liked this. - Pourover (4.5/5) I tried both the Incahuasi (Peru) and the Hama (Ethiopia). The Incahuasi was my favorite. I usually drink coffee with cream and sugar, and joke that good quality coffee is the only coffee I drink black. This was definitely one of them! There are notes of golden raisin, vanilla and almond. The Hama was more bitter/acidic, and had notes of raspberry, citrus and blueberry. FOOD - Mushroom Noodle Soup (4/5) very flavorful and filling! The only drawback was that the noodles (udon) was cut up, which felt odd, almost as if this was prepared for a toddler. - Turkey Dill Havarti (3.5/5) Loved the horseradish slaw, especially with the combination of turkey and apple. Turkey was on the dry side though. - Kale Salad (4.5/5) My husband and I both really liked this, especially the butternut squash, grapefruit and cheddar combo. - Beet/romaine salad: (3.5/5) Good but nothing that really stood out. I'll definitely visit Atwater's the next time we're in Baltimore, especially for a lavender vanilla latte and a kale salad! read more
