Small chai tea
Ahmard R.

I stumbled into this local cafe. The main door is on the right, next to an apartment building entrance. Once you walk through the first door, there is a second glass door on the left, walk in. I was created immediately by staff, told them it was my first time here. I ordered a steak and egg breakfast sandwich and a chai latte. The breakfast sandwich was delicious. The latte was good. It was a lil cold out so I sat at the tables right in the little hallway.

I love Kitsch's sandwiches. They are especially known for their gochujang mayo. I've had a phase of also requesting more than one sauce to go just for me to eat with other foods back home. My go to sandwiches have tend to be the Berkeley sandwich or any one of the egg sandwiches. Any drinks here are quite good too. It hits the spot if you're craving a nice sandwich especially to share with a friend. I've always liked how they would write your name in the brown paper bags they wrap your sandwiches in. It's been a fun, enjoyable reminder for me to say this food is something I get to eat thank you Jesus! Service is personable and kind even when it gets busy. Despite it being a smaller cafe from the main spot in R house, this place is a charming place for lunch! Seating is quite limited, so I'd suggest taking the food to go to eat outside on a spring day!

Remake sandwich, sauce?

I ordered a breakfast sandwich yesterday morning and a BYO turkey sandwich to eat after finishing a 12-hour shift. When I got home later that night, I realized the turkey was missing from my sandwich. I've worked in restaurants for 10 years, so I understand mistakes happen. I went back kindly and simply asked if they could fix it because I was exhausted, in the middle of moving, and genuinely just needed food. They were understanding and remade it at no charge, which I truly appreciated and was prepared to leave a 5-star review because of that. Unfortunately, when I got home again that next morning, there appeared to be no sauce on the sandwich this time. We drove back once more, and I calmly asked for a side of sauce so I could finally eat. I was not complaining or asking for anything extra -- just the sauce. The cook immediately became argumentative and defensive, which was surprising and disappointing given that I had been nothing but polite and understanding throughout the entire situation. I fully understand that the restaurant industry is stressful, I've been in it for a decade, but being treated with hostility when simply trying to resolve an issue respectfully is unacceptable and unprofessional. I truly just wanted my food so I could eat and continue my day.

Steak sandwich

Kitsch is a coffee shop in R House. I was working at R House for a couple of days. I saw a reasonably priced steak breakfast sandwich and ordered it and I was glad I did. The bread was soft and the steak was like a cross between brisket and corn beef. But they are a coffee shop and the matcha is wonderful. The staff is very nice and remembered me when I came back the next day. I loved that.

i have been to a few kitsch locations, and they are consistently good. the staff is always nice and service quick. this location has a small seating area, but is mostly takeout it seems. i always get the BLT with pickles on sourdough and i'll switch up the sauce frequently. my favorite thing about kitsch is their wide variety of sauces to choose from (and also that you can order a giant pickle). their lemonade is my favorite around and their captain crunch rice krispies are really tasty and lightly sweet. this is my go-to spot for a BLT and my partner loves their breakfast sandwiches.

A top contender for best sandwiches in Baltimore!! Small cafe/restaurant located just 3 min away from Johns Hopkins north exit. The sandwiches were unique and delicious and the apple cider and black coffee were as well. Seating and parking is very limited, so the place is ideal for grab and go/quick chat. Looking forward to trying the rest of their menu

Great music, even better people, and the food is amazing. Highly recommend! I ended up getting a bunch of stuff but didn't take pictures of eveything. The tahini drink was great! The dirby sandwich was wow. The egg on brioche is simple but classic. Would definitely come back when in the area.

Dirty Chai is a must!!!

Quick and easy, plenty of choices and do they hit!!! Dirty chai on point and the bacon and sausage breakfast sandwich is out of this world!

Located inside a residential building, the Carlyle, and across from Hopkins Homewood campus is thud cute little sandwich shop. Great for a quick grab-and-go or a quick sit down Service & Ambience: The shop itself isn't the biggest, so it may get crowded if it gets busy. I would recommend ordering ahead online for quicker pickup. There are a few tables inside, but you can also opt for outside seating. Super friendly staff Price: $-$$. I can't complain about a variety of less than $10 sandwiches that are loaded with ingredients. Coffee is also priced reasonably from $2-$6. Food: I chose the "Rachel" during this visit, which was absolutely delicious. Their homemade coleslaw was definitely the highlight. The egg was perfectly runny and made a great combo with the turkey and coleslaw. Overall, I'd recommended stopping in for a quick bite or coffee!

Chicken salad sandwich on GF bread with pepper jack cheese and spring mix
Anna S.

Kitsch Cafe has been on my list for a while now. It's in a fairly convenient location near JHU and Wyman Park. I ordered some breakfast online and it was ready for pickup in about 15 minutes. I got the chicken salad sandwich with pepperjack cheese and sprouts on gluten free bread. I also got a side hashbrown, a golden milk and mango smoothie, and the breakfast at Tiffany's latte. THE GOOD: Everything was ready on time and the staff was friendly. The chicken salad had a great flavor and was hearty. The smoothie was very refreshing and had a nice blend of flavors. The breakfast at Tiffany's latte was AMAZING. Probably one of the best lattes I've ever had. Somehow the maple syrup and cinnamon really took this latte to a whole new level for me. I'm still thinking about it! THE NOT SO GOOD: Okay, I know gluten free bread is a hit or miss sometimes. Some places have gotten really good at finding GF bread that still retains its texture and shape (looking at you, Artifact coffee). But this bread... did not. It was immediately falling apart as soon as I unwrapped the sandwich. The pepper jack cheese was unmelted and instead of sprouts, it was a spring mix. I went ahead and toasted the bread and cheese to get it crispy and melty and it was a lot better. The hash brown was oily and flimsy like it had been microwaved so I popped that in my air fryer too. It's a shame the GF bread isn't the best since all the sandwiches look SO good. But nevertheless, I'm definitely returning to Kitsch for the lattes at the very least.

The Kitschwich! Added tomato and Dijonnaise sauce, among many food/sauce add-ons. Note: the Heckled Hash brown with Old Bay--simply delish!

It's easy to whiz by this nondescript cafe enfolded in The Carlyle on University Blvd.--but a lot is going on at this mostly pickup breakfast place. Opened during the pandemic, Kitsch seems to cater to the locals quite well. Although I prefer a smaller, tighter brioche or English-style muffin, there are plenty of sandwich choices including oatmeal, etc. I had the Kitschwich and added tomato and a Dijonnaise sauce, among many food and sauce add-ons. Also had the Heckled Hash brown with Old Bay--it was delish! Along with self-serve chairs to "chill" outside on nice days, there is very limited seating in the foyer. Nevertheless, word is they are expanding!

I used my first #womenrunbaltimore Yelp check-in at Kitsch for a free coffee with the purchase of a sandwich. I opted for their BYO breaky and got a fried egg, sausage and American cheese on brioche with dijonnaise sauce. It doesn't look the most appealing but it tasted quite good like most regular egg, sausage and cheese sandwiches. It was nice to have the added dijonnaise to give it some flavor though. It's a very small cafe for ordering and go with super friendly staff. Glad I could check this little cafe out!

This place was on my try-list for a long time and I'm so glad I came! I came here after I finished an exam following a stressful start to my week. The place immediately made my day! Bryan took my order at the register, and he had the most welcoming warm and positive energy. The place itself is small, but it is so cozy and charming. I ordered a BYOBreaky with sourdough, a runny egg, bacon, and veggies - it was absolutely delicious. I also got a Split and Griddled muffin at Bryan's suggestion and loved it. My "You're my Best Friend" drink was also great and the perfect temperature. I look forward to coming again soon!

The Monte Cristo $9.50. What a rip off.

It was a cold day so our wait for 4 people was short, but I'd imagine that in the summer it's longer. Overall the restaurant itself is small but super cute. I loved the decor and the layout. We went with the mimosa sampler which had 3 juices and a bottle of Prosecco. I liked the passion fruit juice and my friends loved the lavender flavor. We shared the peach cobble French toast as a starter because it sounded too good to pass up. And it was amazing! Legit some of the best French toast that I've ever had. For my main dish, I had the short rib hash and it was also delicious. The short rib was tender and flavorful. The creme fraise and the peppers really set it off. Service was also good, we had a very attentive waitress. Plus the music was good vibes. I'd definitely come back when in Baltimore

The place was clearly popular but the staff handled the crowd really well. Service was great from start to finish. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and the food and drinks came out at a good pace. The drinks were a highlight. We ordered a mimosa flight with a few different flavors and it was a fun way to start brunch. All of them were light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Food was equally strong. One dish came with eggs, toast, and a veggie mix topped with avocado and cheese that was full of flavor. The Monte Cristo was also excellent. Perfectly crisp, lightly sweet from the powdered sugar, and great with the jam on the side. Great vibe, tasty drinks, and solid brunch food. Definitely worth the visit if you are looking for a good brunch spot.

I've recently started working in the area and they are supper close thus I decided to try them out…read more I was very excited when I saw it was Korean owned however their K-food section is only two items; Bulgogi Dupbap & the Bulgogi Sub. The rest of the menu is American stuff. I've as of now tried both of these and very content with the taste and filling of these two, the price is reasonable per the portion and yummyness($12.49) plus tax about $13.25. The only thing I would change a bit is making sure that the juice from the bulgogi doesn't soak the bread too much cuz then it's mushy. I like a crunchy texture to my subs, but the may be just my preference. Both the son and the mom are super nice, if you become a regular it's very nice to have people know what you want right away. The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. I hope that they can incorporate more korean food to their menu, at least 2 more that have a different protein so we have a bit more variety. Though I understand why the options for kfood are limited given the area's population. Things to keep in mind: - When you order let them know if you want it to go or to eat there. Nobody can read minds, but they will do their best to ask you prior to packaging to confirm. - It can get busy so sometimes transaction may take longer because people are multitasking. - - - Don't rip out the receipt, you might be taking the wrong copy. Wait for the cashier to hand it to you or simply ask. -If you have questions about a product, ask them and don't assume. Yes. There is a big menu and pamphlets available and they provide brief item description but if that's not clear, just ask. They also have prepackaged salads, fruit and a few sweet treats, along with MissVickies chips, and bottle drinks. It's a cafe so the basics. Overall, really nice experience. Tots recommended :3

Here is something I literally have never experienced anywhere else: My sister has a couple of food allergies and she gave the waitress a piece of paper where she listed out what she can and cannot have. A few minutes later, a lovely young woman (I think she said she was a manager) came out and discussed the list with my sister in detail, just to make sure the restaurant got it exactly right. My sister almost cried! As far as timing goes: They don't take reservations, but they have an efficient system -- when you arrive, they take down your name and phone number, tell you how long the wait will be, and then text you when it's your turn. They told us 40 minutes but it turned out to be only 20, so it's good we hadn't wandered too far away. Next time we're in Baltimore, we'll definitely be back.
