I walk by this place everyday and have yet to stop in. Finally got the chance last weekend, met a friend for lunch who is vegan. I decided to try the entree platter with 2 sides. I did the dummies with the kale and potato salad. The drunmies were not bad, I really enjoyed the kale. The potato salad was different but overall not bad at all. I'm not a vegan but I would definitely incorporate a few items into my rotation. The platters were definitely a lot of food so you get your money's worth. Great visit! Great service! Amazing options! I visited w a gggf after my Yelp Community manager (Anna) raved about their Garlic Kale Salad. Let's just say... SHE WAS RIGHT!! This place was absolutely delish !! Easy to locate from Charles Street. Plenty of metered street parking. Entrée, side and dessert options galore!! It took my gf and I at least 25 minutes to select, sample and discuss choices. We decided on Peppersteak, Man N' Cheese, General Tso's Cauliflower, Garlic Kale Salad, Cabbage, and Fresh Ginger Lemonade. Everything was so so yum!! Needing a quick salad since my last entry had meat on it. Saw the restaurant name many times but never stopped in. But they had a sweet or garlicky kale salad and price was right. They gave out free sample, I was hooked . Garlicky kale and the chickpea cold salad was a packed takeout container of both. Especially even I'm about to jump on an 16hr flight, have something to nibble on. Service was easy and helpful, lot of soy ingredients in most of their protein dishes, I avoid. Place is amazing and looks Instagram vibey. Not much of a service as the one gentleman working went to the back and stayed there even when I called out to ask a question. This is my second time here, walking in, it's quiet and nice to sit and eat in. The service was very nice although the gentleman who helped me had trouble understanding me - do to a language barrier. I got plantain chips and fried oysters. The food tasted so bland. The plantain tasted like the "oysters" and vice versa. Zero flavor. The oysters came with no dipping sauce.. the best thing was the Colada Moss juice I got. The restaurant is super expensive compared to other vegan places that actually have good food. My friends told me about this place, so came here for lunch one day. As soon as you walk in, you enter an amazing vibe. The space is gorgeous with great decor and ambience. All the food is already made, so you don't have to wait for your food. Super fast! You can see all the options available and then place your order. The food was unreal! Everything is vegan, but like the chicken drumsticks and BBQ ribs tastes so realistic. It's actually mind blowing. My only "complaint" is that the day I went, the music was blasting. It was hard to have a conversation with others in the table. I know they're going for an awesome vibe, but it says something when the staff can't even hear me when placing my order. Oh, Miss. Dodah! How I have missed your cooking. I was craving something healthy yet filling for lunch and Dodah's Kitchen did not disappoint. I ordered my normal entree with two sides and chose garlic kale salad, sweet potato fries, and "chicken" drummies for my selections. What I got was a beautiful heaping pile of fresh kale, gorgeously crispy sweet potatoes of an equally generous serving size, and three thick and crispy fried "chicken" drummies. I also ordered the lemon cake which surprisingly came in cupcake form this time around! It was a little awkward to eat because this cupcake was so dang plump, especially with the layer of thick icing on top, but I was still very very happy with it. From what I see in another review, if the bathroom is so disgustingly filthy, then think about how their kitchen must be and do they wash their hands in this dirty described bathroom?? What about the food the staff touches? With so many viruses going around, customers want to be careful. How can they not clean and disinfect the bathroom that their customers use? Waited about 10 minutes for fresh Gen Tso's Cauliflower and got rice and beans and garlic kale to go with it. Garlic kale is AMAZING. Beans and rice ok. Not really any taste to it. The cauliflower was good and kinda crispy. Could have had more sauce. Everything all together was verrrry good. The portions were large enough for lunch and dinner and then some. I would def revisit but ask for crispier cauliflower with more sauce. The place is set up as a buffet so you can see everything prior to ordering. This place is a vegan dream come true! I'm only in town for a couple days and everything looked good, so I was pleased they offer free samples of the prepared foods on the line. I loved the carrot tuna and the Kung pao cauliflower. The pepper steak had a taste and texture that surprised me by how much it's like beef. Ultimately I settled on the fried "shrimp" with two sides: seafood mac and cheese and the garlic kale salad. The shrimp were prepared fresh and were formed into shrimp-looking pieces, down to the little orange/pink band on natural shrimp. The texture was shockingly like shrimp. I got 3 sauces to dip into, all house-made: hot sauce, "honey" mustard (made with agave), and a sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. The seafood mac and cheese had a great flavor of seafood and a creamy, dreamy texture everyone loves in mac and cheese. For my second side I went with the kale salad at the suggestion of one of the employees even though I don't always love kale salad. This was prepared perfectly, with the kale not woody at all. The dressing had the perfect garlic bite to it, and although to my taste the dressing was a little on the oily side, I don't make my dressings with oil at home or in my cookbooks, so that's more of my personal preference. Finally I decided to buy a dessert and bring it back to my hotel to enjoy. As another employee told me, the restaurant started out as a bakery, so dessert was a must, right?! I went with the strawberry cheesecake, again at the suggestion of the staff. And WOW! Delicious! It was the perfect ending to a perfect vegan meal. Vegan soul food! Soul food and especially vegetarian soul food is a little hard to find where I'm from so I was really excited to have the chance to try some in Baltimore and I feel like my eyes have been opened to how good this food can be! This is a no-frills operation: counter service and takeout containers only, with a small amount of seating if you want to dine in. The food was more expensive than I was expecting but also higher quality than I was expecting, and they do give you a generous serving. The guy working the front was super nice! I tried the peppersteak over rice with the collard greens and chickpea salad sides. I was pleasantly surprised by how flavourful everything was! The vegan "steak" had a really nice texture, and for me struck the right balance of being tender and having the right flavour for the dish but not so meat-like that you would mistake it for actual steak. The collard greens were simple but prepared well. I loved the hot peppers in the chickpea salad - the slight kick set it apart from other versions of chickpea salad I've tried. Even the rice and beans that accompanied the entree were really tasty. The fact that the food is ready-made doesn't take away from the quality since a lot of it is stuff that benefits from being allowed to sit to let flavour develop, and as a bonus this means service is very fast! They also have a wide selection of cakes, cupcakes, and (vegan) cheesecakes for dessert. I had a piece of cassava coconut cake. I came here twice in one week because the food is absolutely amazing. My first meal here was the general tso's cauliflower with rice and green beans. The cauliflower is breaded and fried, and it is coated in sauce that tastes very much like general tso's sauce. It was really good and I would definitely order it again. I wasn't greeted or asked if I needed assistance. I waited 2-3 minutes before I left. This was my first time going to the location. I'm not going to beg anybody to take my money. Maybe it was the time of day or busy Friday night, but they forgot to include half of our entree (Spinach Lasagna, Seafood Mac N Cheese and Marinated Greens). We were left trying the other entree: General Tsos cauliflower, Seafood Mac N Cheese and Collard Greens. The General Tsos with Quinoa was good, but the Seafood Mac N Cheese tasted like it had been sitting out for hours and smelled "fishy" in a bad way. The collard greens were way too salty and had a very sour taste. We only took 1 bite of each before throwing it out. I have ordered multiple times from the Baltimore location, store front, and Ubereats. If you order through Ubereats be very mindful that either Ubereats is putting incorrect information on their app, or it is the restaurant and / or Ubereats using this promotion of Buy 1, Get 1 Free to get business and not honoring the promo; either way I am out of the food I ordered. The fees to order delivery from Dodah is extremely high as with other restaurants, and I paid it because I didn't want to make the drive to Baltimore, but twice now it has been a problem, and I paid these crazy fees to get bad service and/or bad food or missing food. 1st negative occurrence was I ordered a lot of green orders and they were "ALL" very salty eventually I had to toss all of them. I didnt make a customer review about it but I did send the restaurant a message through Uber letting them know. Today it was a buy 1, get 1 free and this is the "ONLY" reason I ordered solely due to the special promotion due to the fees that are ridiculous and wanted to have a meal for the next 2 days. Well..... opened the bag and only "1" lasagna in the bag. I called Uber and only got 5 Uber cash, no taxes or fees, and not half of what this cost was and no way to decline this offer and go further. I have become so frustrated with bad service and having to pay these crazy high fees!!! The meals should be right, my time should not be wasted and I should not have to suffer disappointment especially more than once from the same restaurant. While I was in Baltimore I heard that a new Dodah's kitchen had recently opened on Charles St. and being a fan I had to stop in. Dodah's food is really one of the better vegan soul food spots out. Similar to Nu Vegan with a few more options. I ordered the one entree with the 2 sides. The drummies were cooked to perfection and the kale was really good. They just dropped the seafood Mac and cheese and I'm a fan. I ate inside and it was Covid friendly and they follow all the protocols. If you enjoy great vegan options and your in Baltimore or passing through make sure you go by this one. I've also been back a few times since. read more

I wanted a quick lunch while I was visiting baltimore and stumbled upon this wonderful vegan establishment. It's fast casual and buffet style, but the interior is really well decorated and welcoming so I ended up eating there. It has a lot of familiar soul food options like collard greens, mac and cheese and chicken but completely vegan. They give you enormous portions, I ended up eating it for 3 meals. Tonight, as a person who has been in the service industry for over 20 years, I was one of those people that I've despised. I walked into this establishment 3 minutes til close. But I was out and about with more errands to run and needed fuel. I was trying to make a decision on something to eat on the go and while the food that was on display looked so delicious, it wasn't going to be possible to eat on the run, so I was settling for a piece of cake and a juice BUT Jose, stop me and told me to order what I wanted, it's ok, he'll make me anything. He was incredible. Each time he spoke to me he had a smile. I kept thanking him and apologizing and he kept letting me know it was okay and that I was welcomed. Apparently they are under new ownership & it's the least inviting SoulLESS place ever now . The food just sits out uncovered with gnats all over , no menu, no ingredients list but wheat and soy are the only things that you are alerted to. You're supposed to order from a screen, no person comes to service you let alone speak to you unless you scream "HELLOOOO" 5 or 6 times ... Then you find that The best thing about the place is the ONE very kind gent that apparently does ALL of the cooking and cleaning yet speaks very little English.
