This spot is tiny and incredibly dark inside (it seemed like the only light was the neon sign when you walk in). When our food finally arrived, it looked bomb. I had the lamb chops and my husband had the fried fish, and we both got yams and mac and cheese. Our sides were completely cold. The waitress offered a different side for my husband, he chose to get the rice. At this point I didn't feel like getting another side. We left feeling very underwhelmed and wouldn't recommend it. We needed somewhere to eat before we attended a play. After the TikTok videos enticed my girls they chose this place. I'm very skeptical about soul food and tiktok suggestions. Food Review: Miss Carter's Place -- A Very Disappointing Experience I truly wanted to enjoy this restaurant, but my experience at Miss Carter's Place was extremely disappointing from beginning to end. My party arrived at 5:00 PM--my sister, husband, and I. We ordered water first. Only my sister and I received ours; the rest of the table never received their water, despite the waitress promising to bring it right out. That set the tone for the rest of the evening. Service Delays We placed our food order at 6:10 PM, more than an hour after arrival. It took another hour and ten minutes just to receive basic drinks. We ordered chicken wings as an appetizer, yet they took nearly an hour to arrive. When they finally reached the table, no utensils or napkins were provided. It left us wondering whether my husband was expected to eat with his hands and wipe them on his clothes. Food Quality & Incorrect Orders The entrées took over two hours to arrive. My husband's chicken cheesesteak was completely wrong. It came without onions, tomatoes, or cheese, had only a few pieces of lettuce, and included a strange sauce we never requested. It did not resemble a cheesesteak at all. Pricing Concerns Beware of the menu pricing. There were different prices listed depending on where you looked--online, printed menus, and what was actually charged. The inconsistency is misleading and feels unprofessional. Instead, she simply said she was the only cook and mentioned she would send cornbread, which did nothing to resolve the situation. Meanwhile, the bartender was acting as the bartender, host, waiter, and busser all at once--far too many roles for one person to manage. Atmosphere & Facilities The restaurant is small, and the dining area filled with smoke from the downstairs cooking. I was told the space was extremely small with no hostess or check-out stand along with no one being at the front to great you. He had to go to the bar which was full to speak to the employee behind the counter. We got our food at 8:56PM. The mac n cheese was extremely cheesy... but that's about it. The collard greens came straight from the can and the yellow rice bed for the crab cake tasted like absolutely nothing. As a Maryland girl I love me some crab and the crab cake was mostly bland with very light to little seasoning. Additionally, it's priced and advertised and a "jumbo lump" crab cake but It was nothing jumbo about it. The star of the show is the honey jerk wings for SURE! They were nice and crunchy with lots of meat, the sweetness of the honey comes first with the aftertaste of the jerk seasoning following behind. Absolutely no complaints thus far. But let me tell you about jerk chicken tacos...the Bomb.! Tender, just the right amount of heat and the crispy taco...delish! We ordered chicken wings with the Korean BBQ and Sweet Chili sauces. Let me tell you...I'm still licking my fingers typing this review. Now although I didn't have any of the lemonade beverages, the rest of the family said the drinks were very good and ordered seconds. We are now ready for our meals........I can't express how delicious the main dishes looked with their sides . I couldn't wait to dig into my smothered turkey wings, collards and candid yams. Tasted like frozen stouffers maccoroni in liquid cheese sauce. No seasoning at all. No bake. The yellow rice tasted like minute rice in a microwave, NO FLAVOR. I patronized this business and paid via cash app. A couple of months later, I made an honest mistake and sent the owner $40. I reached out on IG immediately to let her know the mistake.
