Julep never misses. The worst thing about this place is the long wait during peak times but it's always worth it. I've never had a bad thing on the menu. It is the type of place where you want to keep eating even if you're full. They have a large variety of southern specialities. They have the BEST hush puppies in the area, if not all of Maryland. So good I didn't even take a picture, just dove right in. Inside is a mix of industrial and southern kitchen.

We stopped here on our way to spend the day in Annapolis. It was lunch time on a Wednesday when we visited, and I was surprised they didn't have a lunch menu. We got biscuits to share. The biscuits were buttery and fluffy. I got the chicken fried steak with green beans and mashed potatoes, because our server recommended the dish. I really liked the chicken fried steak. The gravy had a mushroom flavor that was really good, I usually don't love a brown gravy. The steak itself was perfectly fried.

Great cute spot! First time here was surprised and worried about such fast service on Saturday. Such a vibe! Loved this place--they just have a system. With in minutes of sitting we had drinks and ordered starters. By time I finished the tasty cream of crab soup, my jambalaya had arrived. Everything tasted soo good. Out server was super sweet and attentive. Will definitely be back Order: Starter: cream of crab soup and the buttermilk biscuits Me: Jambalaya Him: blackberry Chipotle chicken thighs with yams and Mac n cheese

I've only eaten at this restaurant, maybe two times before, but I was close by and hungry. I'm not a fan of to go food from quality restaurants because by the time I get home it's all cold. However, I called and ordered a salad and the southern fried chicken. It was very nicely, packaged, and service was wonderful. I would order from them again.

One of my girlfriends is from Annapolis. Born and raised. She introduced me to this restaurant. She wanted to catch an early lunch. I bought up the menu and reviews and said why not. Those fried green tomatoes had me intrigued. So glad that I tried it. It was topped with a sauce and the perfect sizable shrimp. It was very good and cooked and breaded perfectly. Our server checked on us regularly. I wasn't that hungry when we arrived so I stuck with the appetizer. With a refreshing glass of lemonade. I would love to return to check out their extended menu. Quite a bit caught my eye. Bonus there is plenty of parking available in the parking lot.

Wow! Now I see why the young kids say "it slaps". That's most certainly what it felt like after the first bite of the smoked chicken...a literal slap to my taste buds. Sweet, salty, juicy, crispy, and everything in between! The entire Julep southern kitchen experience is pleasant. From the hosts, to servers, to the open dining space. The menu reads like a whos who's in southern cooking: chicken fried steak, meatloaf, shrimp and grits, jambalaya, fried green tomatoes. What's cool is Julep has also created thier own fun dishes like the blackberry chipotle glazed thighs and the waffles pig. The biscuits are massive....flaky and buttery. The Collard greens are superb, perfectly seasoned, something I'll admit the Mac and cheese lacked. Chicken is something that's so widely consumed, and in soooo many variations, that it's hard to find something this unforeseen. This dry rub is Unmatched! Yes the menu is great, but if you didn't get the smoked chicken, were you really here???

I've come a couple times now. Food is phenomenal! Literally finger licking good. I have not had one bad food item from their menu. Best cornbread I've had in my life! I'd pass on the sweet tea, that tasted watered down. Staff is great, location is clean, bathrooms are impressive - they even have toilet rugs which are great for elderly folks or anyone if the floors are wet.

This was my wife's Salmon, Candid Yams and brussel sprouts, and their Brussels are delicious!

This is actually my 2nd time coming here, and they never disappoint. The food is always amazing. The service is courteous, warm, and professional from the time you walk in; til' the time you leave. Our waiter was Jose and he not only gave us good service, but made it his mission to inform us of different food options if we were to try. So if you in the area of this particular Julep's... Treat your taste buds for an amazing feeling + they have a lot of gluten free options, if you're gluten free!

When we last came to Julep, it was fresh off of visit from a nearby winery, and it was some place we stumbled on. This time our visit was intentional, but who knew it would take us 4 yrs to return. It wasn't because of the food, that's for sure - today we had the fish & chips, fried green tomatoes, southern egg rolls, beet salad, sampler, Waffled Pig, and flash fried chicken entree. Everything was delicious, everything was top tier, and to top it off, our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and just full of good energy. The vibe of the entire establishment was just super comfortable & we will definitely be back again. Hopefully sooner.

Forget what we ate...I can't wait to go back! Rarely do I get excited about a menu, but Julep is different. I found it hard to choose the Waffled Pig during my first visit because everything looks good. We started out with appetizers and got the Big Bang Shrimp and Southern Egg Rolls. Shrimp were probably overdone slightly but the taste was incredible. Egg rolls were extremely tasty. Portions for entrees were large and everything was great. Service was excellent and server was attentive and friendly. Restaurant is a large space. We sat at a high top and they seated us quickly. Food came out quickly. We left full and look forward to the next visit.

This is my first time in the service was good. The waiter (Antonio) was very attentive and found out about my mom's dietary restrictions. We probably ordered a little too much food. I always like to try wings, especially if they are stated in the menu as award winning wings! I ordered the old baby wings and they were OK. I also ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with a side of collard greens, which was delicious The biscuits are incredible with the honey butter! And my mom enjoyed her fried fish (catfish). We also tried the fried green tomatoes with shrimp and they were good as well. I ordered iced tea half sweet half unsweetened and it was perfect! Everything came out hot! It's a great place to come with family. They do have a bar in front where people were watching the game. Looks like they have a great bourbon menu as well with specialty cocktails. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I highly recommend this place. It was just the wings that was a bit of a turn off. Perhaps I needed to order another flavor outside of old Bay. I'll certainly return next time I'm in Annapolis.

Overall I had a really great visit at Julep! it's a fairly big building with tons of seating options and nice ambiance. I could see it as a nice date night or early family dinner for those with little ones. We had a fantastic waiter who was alert to our needs, fun to chat with, and really insightful. His service alone truly deserved 5 stars. Now on to the food - we ordered the fried green tomatoes with shrimp. The $13 price tag for 3 fried green tomatoes was a bit steep IMO but it was delicious! They were flavorful and cooked just right despite the small serving size. For our entree, we both ordered the pork steak and our waiter said it's a fan favorite! After taking one bite, I could tell why! It was so tender, delicious, and big! I ordered a side of potatoes which was basic (and possibly powder potatoes). If you order this dish with potatoes, get the gravy on the side since the pork steak has a "sauce" that may clash with gravy. Lastly, I ordered the warm bread pudding and it was good. The hazelnut spread added a nice nutty flavor that taste delicious with the bread pudding. The only "Miss" for me was that it was serviced with basic apple sauce with a few apple chunks in it. It didn't really enhance the bread pudding taste and seemed like an aftermath addition. All in all - It's a solid place to grab food! But docking it a star for some (minor) misses along the way. And in my opinion, it was better than the sister location the Hideaway!

    Julep Sampler
    Ashlie J.

Great customer service and BBQ! An unexpected gem in Annapolis! I got the sampler since it was my first time and I couldn't decide on what to get. The sampler comes with two sides, so it's plenty of food and shareable. The Macaroni and Cheese was solid and the Greens were pretty good as well. I was too full for dessert, but will be back next time I'm in Annapolis as their desserts seem to be popular as well.

I started with the steak wedge salad, which was really tasty--the bacon had a slightly sweet flavor that stood out and complemented the dish nicely. For my entrée, I went with the tomahawk pork chop and a loaded baked potato. The pork chop was cooked well and had great flavor overall, though it leaned just slightly on the salty side. Still very enjoyable, especially paired with the potato. Where things really took off was dessert. Our table ordered a few to share--the brownie, chocolate cake, and crème brûlée cheesecake. The brownie was easily my favorite: rich, soft, and topped with caramel sauce alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Definitely the standout of the night. Service from Eli was good--friendly and helpful. I would have appreciated a bit more check-ins throughout the meal, but nothing that took away from the experience. During a visit about a over a month ago, I observed an interaction between a manager and an employee that felt uncomfortable to witness. From a customer perspective, the tone came across as harsh and seemed more appropriate for a private conversation rather than one happening in front of staff and guests. On a more recent visit, I became concerned after overhearing multiple staff members discussing cleanliness-related issues while I was dining. As a customer, hearing those types of conversations during a meal was unsettling and raised concerns for me about overall food safety and sanitation. I want to be clear that I am only sharing what I personally experienced and overheard during my visits. However, as someone with severe allergies, trust in food handling and cleanliness is extremely important to me, and these experiences made me uncomfortable. Because of this, I felt it was appropriate to bring these concerns to the attention of the appropriate authorities so they can be properly reviewed. I hope management takes the opportunity to evaluate both customer experience and internal practices moving forward, as both staff and guests deserve a safe and respectful environment.

The steak lacked flavor and felt low quality for the price. The "fried chicken platter" was basically oversized chicken tenders marketed as an entrée, and the mac and cheese was watery and bland instead of rich and creamy. Overall, the experience felt inconsistent and poorly executed. Between the missing staples, questionable bar service, and underwhelming food, this location did not feel worth the cost.

This time he was waiting on booths, where we were sitting plus a group of 12 (12!) seated after us. Michael was swamped and there no way he could keep up. And while the inside is most definitely for sports fans, with plenty of memorabilia and TVs, imagine my shock when I got a taste of the service, the food, and the overall vibe of the establishment. Our server was a very nice young woman who did a great job of checking on us without coming off as overeager. My brother and I aren't big drinkers, but that didn't dissuade her from not giving us as much attention as other patrons with bigger tabs. I ordered the french dip and my brother got boneless wings tossed in the honey old bay sauce. This is definitely elevated bar food (with great portion sizes to boot): my sandwich had freshly baked bread and came with fresh cut fries and a savory au jus. My brother commented and said his wings tasted like they were battered and fried to order. The prices are moderate -- given the level of service, the taste of the food, and the portions, we definitely felt like we got our money's worth.
