This place is INCREDIBLE. Literally would drive the 45 minutes just to get here from where I live, especially for their margaritas and their crab cake balls! The margaritas are perfectly sour and strong, the crab balls are crusted well on the outside but FILLED with crab- cannot say enough good things. Would give it a 4.5/5 but only because while the other options were good they aren't out of this world! Felt like there were a lot of basic sandwiches and fried foods but the selection for being in a place with such good seafood could have been more.
The host and wait staff were very attentive, friendly, and welcoming. The service was really good throughout our visit. The food was also very tasty. We had the crab cakes, which are dairy-free, and they were delicious. You can also get the crab cake as a sandwich, which is a great option. The steak and crab cake combination was especially delicious--the steak had excellent flavor. They also offer steamed shrimp, and the shrimp are quite large and very tasty. The margarita was another highlight. Unlike some places where margaritas can be watered down, theirs was flavorful and well balanced. They have outdoor seating, and the best part is that you can bring your dog with you to the outdoor seating area. Overall, this is a great place with good food, attentive service, and a dog-friendly outdoor dining option.
If you are looking for whole crabs, crab legs, this is not the spot...however, if tour are looking for crab cakes with no filler, this place is the jackpot. Definitly a place for family and friends to gather and break bread. The service, simply fantastic. Nestled in Downtown Annapolis had my questioning my sanity because it was an hr drive from DC. I made the mistake of not getting the WORLD'S BEST CRAB CAKE and I, thoroughly, regret it. People were ordering it after we sat down. The Cream of crab soup was good but too salty. However, it had a good amount of crab in the base. We also got the The Eastport Steamer Sampler which includes 3 Middle-neck clams, 3 jumbo gulf shrimp, 3-4 PEI mussels, 3 diver scallops, 2 andouille sausage, cut baby Yukon potatoes and ¼ sweet Vidalia onion steamed in beer and old bay in a mesh steamer bag. Served with a hunk of crispy French bread, cocktail sauce and drawn butter. It's a meal for one; definitely not shareable. The flavor is authentic as there's no sauce so the seafood sings. I loved the scallops! They were moist and had a smooth bite. The shrimp were ok but the sausage and onion were the star. Im so bummed o didn't dive into those massive crab cakes. Next time!

We asked at our lodging where we should eat and they quickly recommended the Boatyard Bar and Grill. I had never been to the Eastport area of Annapolis, but it was a beautiful night and we walked over from near the Academy. The Boatyard does not take reservations, but we were in no particular hurry. We arrived pretty early, around 615, and put our name on the list for an inside table (they also have outside dining under a large tent), and ordered two excellent gin and tonics at the bar. After about 10 minutes our table was ready and we were seated at a nice spot near the windows. The restaurant is casual with a mild nautical decor. The Boatyard is known for its crab cakes, the menu even describes them as "the World's best Crab Cake Dinner". We like crab cakes so that's what we ordered. To start, we split the Goat Cheese and Arugula salad. It was very good. Then the main event arrived, our two crab cake dinners with street corn and mashed potatoes. The food was excellent and very filling. It may very well have been the best crab cake I've ever had, but it was certainly the most expensive crab cake dinner I've ever had! We didn't ask how much they were (the menu says "market price") and I thought they were worth it as a splurge on a vacation weekend. But you can always ask! Our server was great, attentive, informative, funny and friendly. We really enjoyed our meal.
As someone from outside of Maryland, the crab cake dinner here was one of the best meals I've ever had. Maybe there are many places in Maryland to get a good crab cake, but this blew me away and unlocked a whole new world of what crab cakes should be. It's been weeks and I'm still thinking about this meal. It's not cheap-- be prepared to spend a bit for it, but it is definitely worth it. The street corn was also fantastic and potatoes are always good. I could barely finish my beer since the portion size is large and I was full. The place is big and the service is efficient. Do yourself a favor and trust the menu. It really is the best crab cake.
Popular spot near the Naval Academy with a nautical theme. We were seated right away during lunch on a Friday which was nice. Started filling up while we were there. Waitress was nice. A little confusion on the sandwich order but she fixed it right away without an issue. Nice bar with a lot of drink options. Have to try every cream of crab soup where we dine. There's is good. The fish BLT was good and the fish is a nice twist to this classic. The soft shell crab sandwich is the bomb. Grilled bread, tasty tartare sauce, and that deliciously fried whole crab..... yum! Would dine here again.
Came in for dinner, starting at the bar. Very odd start with the boatyard lager, which had hints of mango, IPA and light beer. Hopefully was not someone's backwash. Service was otherwise good, and the bar ambiance was busy, semi-loud put welcoming. Dinner was a pair of typical (overpriced) crabcakes, mashed potatoes & Mexican style roasted corn. I only ate one of the crabcakes, but one was enough. Needed a little more time under the broiler, and a bit more filler than I like- but not bad. Service was good, attentive, and friendly. I'd return, but think they could do better too. Plus there is plenty of competition nearby.
Before even walking into the restaurant, you are greeted with a huge tent and plenty of outdoor seating. The place was poppin on a beautiful Sunday evening and everyone looked to be having a good time. There is also plenty of indoor seating once you enter the restaurant. It was very spacious and very family friendly. The food here was very good. We had an early dinner to accommodate a sunset cruise and weren't really hungry, but even then we devoured our food! The sea scallops was part of their daily specials and was perfectly cooked. The crab cake sandwich was also delicious! We even over heard the table next to us compliment their crab cakes!
this restaurant is in the cutest location in Annapolis! Right by the water, they offer both indoor seating, shaded and cooled outdoor seating, and also have some bar seating as well. There is a connected store attached as well. Service was very kind and attentive. We had some cocktails to start, and they were huge! Lots of options to pick from as well. Their fish n chips, Chilean bass tacos, and tuna steak were delicious! So fresh and plenty given for leftovers. They have a small parking lot in the back, but there is also street parking or a payable parking lot across the street.
Wow! We decided on Boatyard Bar & Grill in Annapolis, Maryland for dinner while we were in town. We're very happy that we did! The wait for a table for 2 people on a Saturday evening was 35-40 minutes and the hostess took our cell phone number and kindly verified that we received their text confirmation before we moved from the hostess stand. Nice touch. This bar & grill was busy, but we grabbed a drink from the bar while we waited for our table. The decor is a fun nautical theme throughout. I love the signage above the bar, and the lighting that spotlights the large fish on the walls. You can see the local families and groups of friends who make this place a weekly jaunt! Our server, Shannon W. was friendly and knowledgeable with the specials and the menu. We ordered the Cream of Crab soup, the Eastport Steamer Sampler, and the Open-Faced Crab Dip Samich. Yes, it's spelled Samich. Everything was delicious. Everything was seasoned nicely. Glad we had a great meal to write about! Also, a quick stop into the Women's restroom to wash my hands was nice with the quirky signage on the door and the pleasant scent of the restroom itself. Another nice touch.
Always check for the Boatyatd specials for the best options, especially for seafood. The flavorful, features aren't typically on the standard menu. They also bring in specialty desserts at times. The ambiance is chill with friendly staff. The fried oysters are delicious, tender with a nice batter and sauce. We had the specialty rockfish and pan fried haddock with two coconut shrimp and curry sauce. Both pieces of fish were tender and a good portion size. If the have a sauce woth lump crab meat don't expect any crab. Instead of a light garnishing of crab it's almost invisible strands that broke down in the sauce, no taste profile. The sides are exchangeable. The mashed potatoes, squash medley and asparagus are prepared well. Dessert was a simple brownie sundae that hit the spot.
Boatyard is a nice seafood restaurant in Annapolis. They have a decently sized indoors and outdoor seating. That meant I was able to bring my dog to the place! I had their crab and artichoke dip, fried oysters, soup, and crab cake dinner. I enjoyed everything! I really like the dip, but I loved the bread used for the dip - it was a lot crunchier and was pretty easy to chew. For the soup, I had the yin and yang, which is a half/half of Maryland crab soup and cream of crab. I personally preferred the cream of crab more. I also really like the fried oyster and crab cake as well!

I had a wonderful experience! The customer service (Jenna) was excellent from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, professional, and attentive to my needs. They made sure everything was handled smoothly and went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. Great service and a great experience--I would definitely recommend them! read more

Drove to Boatyard while visiting Annapolis. Ordered Oysters daily specials, Chesapeake Sampler and Crispy Calamari. Foods are tasty and savory. Needs more portion as it is a bit meager. If you're planning a seafood stop in Annapolis, this spot absolutely deserves a place on your list We timed our visit during happy hour--and let me tell you, it was the best decision ever. Dollar oysters? Yes, please! I didn't expect much at first, but wow... they were incredibly fresh, clean, and so easy to slurp. Pair them with hot sauce, cocktail sauce, or their refreshing cucumber mignonette, and it's game over. I may or may not have devoured nearly two dozen myself... and honestly, no regrets Beyond the oysters, everything we ordered hit the mark. The Mama's meatballs were rich, hearty, and packed with flavor--true comfort food vibes. The Mussels Sailor Style were another standout; the buttery, garlicky broth was so good we were basically dipping bread non-stop. And the mussels themselves? Plump, juicy, and perfectly cooked. Now let's talk about their Crab & Artichoke Dip... I'm still dreaming about it. Creamy, indulgent, and downright addictive--I could eat that every single day without hesitation. And of course, you can't leave without trying their famous crab cake sandwich. It's on a whole different level. The crab meat is tender, super fresh, and beautifully seasoned--letting that natural, sweet ocean flavor shine through in every bite. Safe to say, this place is a seafood lover's dream. Great restaurant with lots of seating. Has two large tents with outside seating and a small deck. Also has a bar area and dining areas. This place is located off main area of town and easily walkable from the main area of Annapolis. Worth the walk. Easy to find and a great walk over the bridge to view boats, etc. Not sure about parking as we walked from center of town. Greeted by friendly bartender. She was very polite and checked in on us throughout our visit. Ordered a habenaro margarita which was great and well made. Also had a drink called Admiral that was super good too. They do have some tasty looking drinks on their menu. Ordered the artichoke and crab dip. Asked for tortillas instead of the French bread. This was delicious. Portion was generous. Also, ordered a white fish BLT that came with fries. That too was terrific. Great place! Would visit again. read more

My wife and I went here for a recent weekend brunch and had a great experience. Despite Boatyard Bar & Grill being busy and that it doesn't take reservations, we were able to get a table immediately. The ambiance is awesome-true boathouse vibes with lots of themed decorations. We had good service throughout our meal, with food coming in a timely manner. I started with the oysters of the day, which had a good mild flavor, pairing well with the cocktail sauce and vinegar. We shared the rockfish tacos and the pear and three cheese pizza, both of which were great. The rockfish was perfectly cooked and the accompaniments were solid. The pizza had a great crust, tons of delicious cheese, all paired nicely with arugula and pears. I would highly recommend Boatyard Bar & Grill for dining during your next visit to Annapolis! read more

We went on a Saturday night and were estimated a one-hour-and-ten-minute wait. They take your phone # and get notified via text when a table is ready for your party. We ended up waiting 50 minutes (it was 8pm at this point), and we can tell the lines weren't as long at this time of night. Anyway, we tried the calamari, fresh oysters, and soup of the day (clam chowder) as our appetizers. It was all pretty good but nothing really stood out. This place is known for their crab cakes, and so we had to try it. The market price when we went was a whopping $68!!! Was it worth it? It was THE BEST crab cake I've ever had, and I've tried all kinds-- from the banks of Louisiana to the New England waters to the Pacific Northwest, etc. Outstanding. It was fresh, no bits and pieces of crab shells, AND it wasn't stuffed with too much breading like other crab cakes. The crab is the ACTUAL star of the dish like it should be!! The rest of the dinner plate was also amazingly paired-- fresh roasted veggies and creamy mashed potatoes. My husband got the house special crusted halibut. He said it was good but severely lacking seasoning. My kids tried their angus beef burger and some sandwich. My advice is DON'T get anything that's not seafood here. While it was still good, it was not as tasty as the seafood. Make your money worth it and only go for the seafood- specifically the crab dishes! read more

Such a great little place, awesome atmosphere. This was an impromptu stop with some friends after returning from a retreat. The staff was very warm, and ther service was prompt, even with a last minute large party! Started with Anthony's oysters I got the fish tacos (blackened) so tasty Hubby got the crab cakes which were also great, the table commented on the full lump and flakiness of the crabcake. Several even said that it was one of the best they've had. (I'm sorry I was hungry, so no pic, if I can get one from friends I'll post it later.) One of the best restaurants we've been to in a while! Dined in with our 3 young kids on a busy Saturday evening. To my surprise, we were seated right away & they offered coloring kids menus, which the kids loved! We ordered... -Antoine's oysters Rockefeller: amazing! So tasty. Generously sized oysters! A must order -Sesame crusted ahi tuna: so good. Super fresh tuna. One of the best versions we have tried. -Blackened tuna salad: phenomenal & I'd order this again & again. Ordered the tuna rare & it was cooked to perfection. Salad itself was fresh with a tasty dressing. -Lobster & crab roll: it was good but wasn't wowed. Have had better. Kids had the cheeseburger, hot dog, & grilled cheese from the kids' menu, which they all devoured. I really wanted to try their crab cakes...but the dinner was priced at 60+ for 2. For a single crab cake is $30+. Maybe next time. Service was exceptional though. It was PACKED, but our waitress was attentive. This place is a big operation, but they've really got it down to a science. We will most certainly be back whenever we are in town! read more

We have loved The Boatyard for years! Like truly loved it! It's been a must visit since we started going to the boat shows in Annapolis in 2018. We've just never had a less than stellar meal here, which is why I'm truly shocked that I've never reviewed it before! Well, that gets rectified now! We decided to visit Annapolis for Christmas this year, and we stopped here, of course. As usual, the vibe is just perfect. It has that delightfully casual, airy, East Coast bay charm. The service is always excellent, but our server, Lexi, made us feel especially at home this time! We had actually strolled in fairly late on Christmas Eve with no reservations, and they still accommodated us, and sweet Lexi didn't rush us, even though we encouraged her to! That's exceptional service, y'all! To start, Hubby got four Patty's Fatty's oysters from Eastport, MD. He loved them. Clean, salty and briny goodness. The oysters here are always extra-special! For mains, I went with the Black and Blue Red Snapper, which was utterly unforgettable to me! No hyperbole! Like, last meal on Death Row worthy! Just look at the picture. Jesus! So dang good! Hubby went more classic with the Fish and Chips, and they were amazing. Crispy as all get out, but not greasy, and the cod gives it the perfect oomph! It's the best fish for Fish and Chips, IMO! To end, we indulged in one of the best cake slices on Earth. It was a chocolate raspberry tower of yummy! I think that it may have been a version of the Maryland Smith Island cake, but, whatever it was, it was AWESOME! Again, check the food porn...I mean pic! LOL! So good! I was visiting Annapolis for a short day trip with my partner and we decided to check this place out. We came around 11:30 on a Saturday and were seated right away. Our server was friendly and explained the menu thoroughly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was energetic and upbeat with parties of all sizes and servers chatting. Our food came out extremely quickly. We got the Maryland crab soup as an appetizer, which we were disappointed in. The size was tiny and there was barely any crab in it. For entrees we got the fish and chips and fish tacos, both of which had big portions and were very delicious, in contrast to the soup. Overall, we enjoyed this place and might come back to try some other items on their very extensive menu! read more

With all the great reviews, I made sure to visit this place while in Annapolis -- and it definitely lived up to the hype. I came on a Tuesday around 4:45 PM, and the restaurant wasn't too busy yet, so I was seated right away. My server, Kelsey, was prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She checked on me regularly throughout the meal, which I really appreciated. I started with a variety of oysters from the day's special menu. Each one was fresh and flavorful -- the menu descriptions were spot-on. For my entrée, I went with the restaurant's signature "World's Best Crab Cake Dinner (All Killer, No Filler)", paired with rice pilaf and southern-style potato salad. The dish was priced at $58.99 that day (market price) -- absolutely worth it. The crab cake was rich, meaty, and easily one of the best I've ever had -- generous portion too. For dessert, I tried the Toffee Butter Cake à la Mode, which was phenomenal -- warm, buttery, and perfectly balanced with the ice cream. Ambiance: clean, spacious, and well-lit with tasteful coastal décor. They also have an inviting outdoor patio for those who prefer dining al fresco. Prices are reasonable considering the high quality of the food and service. I didn't drive, so I can't comment on parking, but everything else about the experience was excellent. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Annapolis. read more

No, they do not offer an all-you-can-eat option
Are reservations needed?
They don't accept reservations. I would recommend putting your name on the waitlist and enjoy a nice drink from the bar.
Parking situation? Haven't been here in over a year, but I remember the parking is HORRIBLE.
Street parking. It can be tough. But we usually find a place eventually.
Are they dog friendly?
A lady had a lap dog at a table next to ours. No one said anything. I'm not sure large dogs are welcome though.
How's the restaurant lately for social distancing and what's the outdoor seating like? Reservations, walk in
The outdoor seating is beautiful! It is outside where the parking lot used to be. It is very nicely done! They are doing well with social distancing- table are very spaced out. Servers wearing masks. On busy nights def make a reservation.
Are there TV's for football watching?
Yes, there are two I believe but it is not the best place to watch a game.
Outside seating that is dog friendly?
Yes...there are water bowls available by the benches
