After a long day of work (including a reception where I forgot to eat - too busy working/networking), I needed a meal and a nightcap this past Wednesday night. I'd had Dry 85 on my list for a while, and it sounded just right on that cold, snowy day. I walked in, grabbed a seat at the bar, and was immediately welcomed and handed menus and given a glass of water. This welcome was consistent with great service throughout. I love sitting at a bar (especially for a solo meal), because it allows you to chat with the bartenders, and the bartenders at Dry 85 were great. Dry 85 is a bourbon bar that sells food at an affordable price. They have over 100 different bourbons and the drinks looked good but that day we focused on just the food. The bar is dark, and lowkey quiet definitely more on the masculine side. I ordered the honey glazed salmon salad with lemon vinaigrette goat cheese green tomatoes spinach and kale. This was delicious and refreshing. I truly enjoyed this salmon. The spinach and kale was crisp and the vinaigrette added a summer tanginess to the salad. Can you believe this was only $16? We decided to have one burger and split it with three of their appetizers to share as well. They had mushroom soup that was delicious and creamy as well as savory. Just returned from an awful Friday evening at Dry 85. The earlier reviews about poor service are sadly true. They are rightfully proud about the depth of their whisky and bourbon selection but cannot support it with their thin staff. My fiancée and I were planning to have a few rounds of drinks and dinner at the bar of Dry 85. Like some others who have reviewed here, the first round of drinks and appetizer arrived promptly but after that, the bartenders and waitstaff were non-existent. Getting another drink and more food took over 20 minutes. And people from the table had to go to the bat because their waiters were not showing up to take orders. What type of restaurant just leaves it customers out in the cold on a Friday night? Read the reviews and you'll see that is this happens a lot at Dry 85. After getting tired of waiting we paid our bill (the first time the staff actually were attentive) and left. Don't bother with Dry 85. Lots of hype at a high price point and bad management. Came across Dry85 while walking through Annapolis. I love a cocktail bar , so I was excited to grab some drinks. We started with the Lavender Fields and the Presidente. Both were solid choices. Another tiktok gem. I would have never guess this place was in Annapolis nor that it was a good spot. It looks like a small hole in the wall, but in reality it's a pretty huge space. Another 30 minutes went by no water no food order and every time the waitress walked by. She failed to acknowledge us. I certainly understand that places get busy, but if you can't even bring water, you should stop letting people in the door. The colleagues and I were looking at a spot to eat some lunch. Suggested this spot and they're down for whatever. Which is why I am writing this review. I had the Pork Ossobuco which was actually pretty good. It was fall off the bone tender and that apple butter demiglaze was quite interesting. Also garnished with apple bits and slices. After 15 minutes and no drink, we reminded him that we would like to order a glass a wine and put a food order in. He showed his annoyance at us like we were pushing him for a drink "right when he got in". We joked with him trying to clear the tension by being friendly but he remained angry, rolled his eyes at us and continued with an awful attitude at us. We asked to speak with the manager and he said he was the manager? I had a hard time believing this but ok. We ended up taking our business elsewhere....as there is no shortage of top notch restaurants in Annapolis but, thought the owner of this establishment should be aware of this employee. Advertised as a modern industrial take on a prohibition era speakeasy. This bar/restaurant is in the heart of Annapolis MD on Main Street. There is no private or valet parking. You can look for street parking or park in the garage down the street. This chic and trendy establishment is small, intimate, and dimly lit with dark interior, serving top-shelf bourbons, single-malts and whiskey (flights available), as well as select microbrews and wine on tap (yes, the wine is on tap). The hostess was very friendly and placed us on the wait list for a table. We made our way to the bar for a drink while we waited. The bar staff was less personable and could have been be more attentive. Approximately 15 minutes later, the hostess told us that our table was ready. We couldn't seem to get any assistance with closing out the bar tap, and the hostess ended up going back to the bar to assist in order to keep things moving in the dining section. There's nothing I hate more than unmotivated bartenders. Our waiter, Ethan, was awesome. Very attentive and friendly. We started out with the delicious fried pickles that were a little spicy, thick, juicy and double battered and served with Chipotle mayo. For an entree I ordered the 7 oz filet, cooked medium rare, with their house made steak sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly, the center had a deep pink color, it was juicy, tender and full of flavor. For the sides I ordered the hand cut fries tossed in truffle oil, rosemary and sea salt that were thick cut and had decent flavor; and the vegi of the day which was cauliflower and cherry tomatoes in a sweet light sauce/dressing that was unique and complimented the meal. My husband ordered the bacon wrapped scallops served with a Crown Royal maple reduction sauce, a side of cheese grits, and the vegi of the day. I was immediately greeted upon entering Dry 85. I was offered the choice of sitting at the bar, a table, or a booth. I chose to sit at a booth, due to the size of my party of four. Two separate Dry 85 menus were handed out. One menu featured appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, soups & salads, entrees, sides, and house-made desserts. The second menu featured 'bourbon & beer.' I ordered from buffalo wings as an appetizer, and DRY 85 Burger with sweet potato fries. Soft drinks are limited at Dry 85. I ordered a ginger-ale. My friends and I were provided a sample of the Daily Punch: Bartender's Choice. Unanimously, my friends and I did not like the taste of the Bartender's Choice. I instead ordered the Spring/Summer Seasonal Cocktails: Lavender Fields of Kentucky. The food and drinks were great. The waitress was attentive to my party of four. There was only one waitress working, and it was obvious due to the wait time between customers. The waitress did, however, provide great customer service. It took a lengthy amount of time for the waitress to retrieve our payment after the bill was placed on the table. My frustration outside of my dining experience at Dry 85, is the lack of parking. First time visiting downtown Annapolis and my wife and I just just happen stumble across Dry 85. From the moment you walk in you get that comfy feeling, the place is warm and inviting and makes you feel at home. We sat at the bar as we usually do when we are out and about exploring new places. So before ordering an appetizer my wife and i enjoyed a few cocktails. All of them were honestly made to perfection and tasted wonderfully (see picture). Mid way through our second round of cocktails, we decided we were still hungry from dinner and order the charcuterie board. Most often then not I find this to be filled with the same things over and over again, but in this case Dry 85 did things a bit different and seemed to have a larger of a selection. I truly enjoyed the wild board, not something I have had a lot of before but this time I enjoyed it more as it seemed liked they have a magical recipe that just makes you want to eat more. Next!!!!! although I am not a bourbon drinker I can't not tell you about their insane bourbon collection. I did recognize such bottles as the three different ages of Pappy Van Winkle they had on the shelf. Besides bourbon they did seem to have everything you need/want to drink to include what seemed like a good selection of craft beer. Dry 85 has good food, a great atmosphere, and service with a personal touch. I'll admit I'm not a fan of all the food on the menu and I've had the Dry 85 Burger twice and it's just not that good. However the majority of the food is tasty and worth ordering over and over again. If you're just stopping in for a quick drink you have hundreds of choices between beer, whisky, and bourbon among other drinks and I would recommend the wings (any flavor), garlic fries and yes the Brussel sprouts are delicious as well. This is a place you will go again and again and each time you will see familiar faces, and not so familiar faces and everyone no matter who they are is having a good time. My rating is based on the Burger that has the establishments name is just mediocore and that's disappointing but everything else is great Update: Thanks to the Dry 85 Management for their comment. Great cocktails, interesting selections-i really wanted to try like 5 of em but I'm driving lol shrimp and grits were bland - sauce not very flavorful and the grits werent your southern grit with the heavy cream and chicken stock.. maybe just water and butter?
