Downtown Annapolis is full of nice sit down resturaunrs that would be ideal for a date night. Lewnes' is a personal favorite of mine. It's so easy to splurge on this restaurant that I never once had buyer's remorse. Im my usual order is a NY Strip Oscar Style with a side of cream spinach or French fried potatoes. The sides are also massive you could easily share them with a table of 4-5 people. Appetizers I like include oysters (raw and Rockefeller) and the jumbo lump crab cocktail. YUM! Let's start there. This steak was so good. This was the first steak that I took my time with. Normally I am of the mindset of let me eat this steak before it cools off. This steak is so good, let me scarf it down. Not this time. As I ate this steak, I often thought... How? How did they get this to be consistently tender? While writing this, I stared at the image of that steak and my mouth watered and I again wondered... How? I was definitely full after eating this and all the other food that came with it which was also very, very good. I don't remember but I'm pretty sure this wasn't our first choice but I'm glad we ended up here. There was something that I missed out on but I forget and this is why you should write your reviews immediately. There was some option that I didn't know existed but by the time I heard the waiter explain it to the table across from us, our food was on the way out so I couldn't change. I was very happy with my meal so it didn't matter too much especially since I can't be upset for something I didn't have. The vibe is a premium steakhouse vibe. They may only have booths and the booths were slightly odd. they were bigger than a 2 person booth but I'm not sure 4 would sit there comfortably. Especially not 4 ppl my size :-). Lewnes Steakhouse came in class for a dinner celebration. Accommodating due to delays caused by the storm, Schelle met us at the hostess stand with care and welcome. She made sure we arrived fine and parked in a safe space, she quickly checked us in and seated us herself. As others have mentioned, Lewnes's ambiance is cozy, softly lit, and white table classic. We were greeted immediately by our server Jeff. Absolutely friendly, he took our cocktail order, our dinner selections, and made sure everything was to our liking. We were served an onion boule with a block of fresh butter and it was a wonderful bridge to our mains. The seafood bisque is so rich, prominent smokiness of the paparika, and the flavors luscious. This was a very old school-esque steakhouse; dark ambiance, wood paneling, white table cloths. They had a great wine-by-the-glass menu and a massive bottle list. The only downside was both of our steaks were overcooked; mine came medium instead of medium rare and hers came medium well instead of medium. Other than that, everything was perfect. My husband loves going to Lewnes' for birthdays, for a good steak in Annapolis this is hands down our go to spot. The environment is intimate with small booths in an older building in Eastport, old photos lining the walls, Sinatra and Fred Astaire playing..you know the vibe. You're welcomed with warm bread in the table with a wedge of butter. The past few times we've visited we had a wedge salad to start, it's really great. I know you don't go to a steakhouse for a salad but..just get the salad. We also love the thick bacon appetizer because well it's bacon, what's not to love? This visit we split a tomahawk steak (something obscene like 40oz), chef recommended medium rare "plus" so we opted for that. The sustainably sourced their beef from US farms, they have a write up in the menu highlighting sources like 4H and Future Farmers of America which I thought was great. WARM AND DELICIOUS. The seafood bisque was also pretty good -- rich, flavorful, and packed with nice chunks of crabmeat. The creamed spinach was a classic, and the potato frites were different but fun -- more like homemade potato chips than typical fries. We were celebrating a birthday and decided to go big with the 40oz tomahawk steak to share. We asked for it medium rare, but it came out a bit too red for our taste. We sent it back -- twice -- and each time the staff was incredibly gracious and professional, never once showing any frustration. Their hospitality really stood out. To drink, I tried the bourbon cocktail called the "Revolver," and it was incredibly smooth -- definitely worth ordering if you're into bourbon. I searched up what the best steakhouse in Maryland is and this place popped up. I did extensive research into the menu before visiting to get the best dishes. I'm not sure if my taste is just different, but the creamed spinach and lyonnaise potatoes were just okay. The French fried potatoes were good, it's a hybrid between a chip and a fry, very unique. The thick cut bacon just tasted like salty ham, however it was still good. The crab balls were DELICIOUS, absolutely packed with meat. All the reviews here are very contrasting, but if you had to get one side, I recommend getting the crab balls. Everything else is honestly not that worth it. For the main entree we chose the tomahawk ribeye medium rare, and it was very rare when it came out, however it was still very smooth and easy to chew. It was only disappointing because the steak was rather cold, and lacked flavor. Do not come to this steakhouse expecting flavor in every dish. If you're a steak lover, this is the place for you! We started with an order of oysters Rockefeller, the jumbo lump crab balls, and half oysters on the shell. The Rockefeller were slightly gritty but overall tasty. The crab balls were delicious- Warm and crispy on the outside.The half oysters were delightfully refreshing! Next we went for the 48oz cowboy ribeye and it was juicy, tender, and seasoned well. The creamed spinach was a surprising highlight for me ( I ate the whole bowl) and the mashed potatoes were creamy and well-salted. Lewnes' Steakhouse is one of my favorite steakhouses although I've never actually ordered beef steak from this restaurant. Instead, I am in love with their Pan Seared Yellowfin Tuna Steak, which I order each and every time I visit. I'm literally hooked lol. The dish is tender when ordered medium style and super flavorful with notes of sea salt, garlic and lemon amazingness. It comes with a delicious mustard aioli sauce for dipping but honestly its amazing by itself. I also love there shrimp and spinach dish called Garides Scortholemono ( a Greek staple) . I usually also get the creamed spinach, sauteed mushrooms, or asparagus as a side. The ambiance has a beautiful vintage vibe, with plush seat and great lighting. They offer great service , friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I've never has a bad experience here. It's location is not too far from the water so its great for a date night or special occasion. Street Parking is fairly simple depending on the time of day you visit. Our second visit. Average food for a what is supposed to be a classy steakhouse. Location- very tough to find parking. No valet. Atmosphere- Old but well kept. You get a nice warm feeling there. A very large place. Love the entrance, is has a very nice bar. Food- Very pricing for what was ordered and brought to us. The shrimp from the shrimp cocktail tasted old and a bit chewy. My crab cakes had very little lump crab for $50. The server told me that they would be top notch. Wife's petite filet was good. Side dishes had to be sent back because they were warm. Wine selection is large and varied. My old fashioned did not come with a large ice cube, so I reprimanded the server and he changed it out. Classy places serve them with a large ice cube! Service- Felt rushed. Maybe they didn't have enough servers. Ours could have been a bit more matured and experienced. Their smocks need to be whiter. If you are wearing white, it needs to be white and not have that unbleached used look. Value- I don't see it. Stoney River is a better value though their atmosphere is lacking. Wait time- they sat us immediately. Food took a bit long we thought. All in all, disappointed. We had gift certificates so we decided to use them for a 25th wedding anniversary for a high-end steakhouse, I was disappointed that there wasn't more selection of the type of fillets. There should've been a Wagyu section. The cream spinach was liquidy so you need a spoon to eat that the scallop potatoes were supposed to be scalloped, but they were fried potatoes with onions like for breakfast put it mildly I won't be coming back. It's very expensive for what you get. If people think this is a high-end steakhouse they don't know what the highest steakhouse is. read more

What an incredible experience! The restaurant was cozy and comfortable. The food was out of this world amazing! We order oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer with cocktails. It was incredible! The bread was incredible. For my main entree, I ordered lamp chops which were delicious! The waiter was so funny and friendly. I joked about only have pistachios on lamp chops before so he brought out crushed pistachios for me. It doesn't come with that but we had a laugh. The wine was delicious! I've been eyeing this place ever since I read about it being one of the best steakhouses on east coast on reddit. Seeing as how I lived just over an hour away I was happy to test out the hypothesis, and it didnt disappoint. I made reservations and found street parking. I was a smidge late, but fortunately they didnt give my table away. Once seated, I noticed the decor and ambiance was a bit aged, though still nice. I ordered an old fashion while my friend had red wine. We both ordered new york strip steaks and had salads to start. I went with a house while my friend had a greek salad, and tbh I wish I ordered the greek salad. the salad comes with potatoes under the lettuce and is topped with a bright tasting greek dressing consisting of lemon, garlic, and herbs. Coupled with the feta it reminded of my growing up in NYC and stopping in all of the rich tasting greek diners on the island. This stole the night for me, I'd go back just for this greek salad. The steakhouse's menu describes the restaurant as being the first to offer prime steaks. Upon further research I found that prime steak is the highest grade a meat could obtain. The meat tends to be juicer, packed with flavor and great has marbling. Lastly, the meat is cooked in a broiler at 1800 degrees. What surprised me the most was how well the steak was cooked, I ordered mine to be medium rare and typically in a restaurant medium rare means the middle of the steak is medium rare and the outside is more medium. However here the outside was medium rare and the center, inside of the steak was more on the rare side. What was disappointing was that the restaurant only tops their steaks with butter. Maybe I've grown accustomed to salt and pepper and while the steak was good, it felt like it was missing something. We also ordered a baked potato and mushrooms. The baked potato can be topped with butter, sour cream but not chives which is unfortunate but I managed. Both portions were enough to satisfy us both. The service was great, there are no complaints there. The waitress offered their opinion when asked, and guided us to the house favorites. She was quick to refill the water, and was prompt in returning often. read more

I enjoy a great steak every once and a while. I have had my fare share. I will have to say, Lewnes is now new favorite Steakhouse. They are located in Annapolis. I have to tell you that finding parking is a challenge. But once you do, Lewnes is ready to greet and serve you. The restaurant sits on the corner in the downtown marina area. Once you walk in, you are consumed by their upscale charm. The bartenders are great and cleearly masters of their craft. The host and wait staff were very nice and accommodating. When the server said they offered a 40oz steak, I had to accept the challenge. The steak was the perfect size, perfect temp, and flavor was over the top. This place was amazing. I've been hearing about this steakhouse for years and finally made the time to dine here. Stepping into this establishment you feel like you're going back in time to a bygone era. The wait staff is all dressed in butcher jackets which really adds to the ambience of an old time feel. I started off with the Blackberry Collins cocktail. Delish! I only had one, but I certainly could have gotten another. Very fruity, but somehow not overly sweet. In addition to that we also ordered a bottle of Panna water for the table. For our appetizer we got the slab of thick cut bacon. Again, amazing. Just the right amount of caramelized fat to meat ratio. We were definitely off to a great start! I got the ribeye Oscar style (crabmeat and béarnaise), perfectly cooked! We got a total of 4 half portioned sides to share family style. The french fried potatoes are an absolute much try. It a fried cross between a chips and fries. We also got the lyonnaise potatoes also delicious, asparagus and creamed spinach. Everything we had was exceptionally good.
