So delicious! Chesapeake oysters baked with crab (half dish)

Just had the Irish 'corned beef and cabbage' and I liked it very much. I never had this dish at a restaurant and I was curious, it is surprising and very good: the taste, the texture, all works perfectly for a winter dish. May I suggest to serve it with a spoon?, the broth is excellent. I like the fact that a different menu is proposed and I also like the family atmosphere of Donnelly. Now I learn also that the reward program mentioned on your bill... does not exist. It is asking for your email, promising some discounts based on points... we've just been told that the program is not applied in this restaurant. The program not being applied is not really a problem, merely an owner choice. What unsettled me is the fact that I cannot trust what is written... what else can't be trusted here?

Always enjoy dining at Donnelly's! Oysters are always delicious and local!

We had a great birthday lunch today for a friend at Donnelly's Dockside. We were a bit disorganized in terms of our arrival times, but they were very patient and accommodating. I arrived first and enjoyed a glass of wine. After a couple of others came, we ordered the white pizza to share as an appetizer. It was delicious. I enjoyed the Salmon salad with grilled vegetables. Another friend had a chicken salad, one had the Salmon Strudel, and another had Shrimp Scampi. Everyone was very happy. We shared a huge strawberry shortcake for dessert. They put a candle in it because it was a birthday celebration. It was a lovely lunch.

Had a wonderful dinner with family. The Oysters Chesapeake, Oysters Rockefeller, and Boom-Boom Shrimp appetizers were delicious, as were the Bluefin Tuna Rossoito, Shrimp Salad Croissant, Steak Frites, and Oyster Dinner. The service and ambiance were also outstanding, and prices reasonable. We look forward to returning!

The standout of the day for me was the old fashioned, made with plum bitters. One of the best old fashioneds I've ever had. The servers were all very friendly and quick. We will definitely come back the next time we're in town, and definitely recommend this to others.

We were immediately greeted by a young man who directed us downstairs, and said "Irv will be down in a minute, make yourselves at home." We descended into the basement of this unassuming waterfront house, and there he was. 101 year old Irv, emerging from the shadows like an old wizard from your favorite sci-fi movie, almost like Yoda. He politely and softly asked us what we wanted, and proceeded to serve us the best round of Natty Bohs I may have had in my life. This bar isn't like your neighbor's basement bar - it's a full bar with a pool table, full service rest rooms, a functional jukebox, and a lot of the charm you'd find in your favorite dive bar. The only thing you won't find at your favorite bar is Irv. At 101, he's sharp as a tack. Funny, with a lifetime of stories. Sign his wall, by a t shirt or shot glass, admire the bras hanging from the ceiling, and soak in what could be a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you, Irv.

There is some seating outdoors, a good amount of seats indoors and bar seating. For a table for 3, it would have been about a 25 minute wait but there was plenty of seating at the bar open so we opted for that. I don't believe they take reservations. Bartender was great and service was fast. Ordered a couple of beers and for food, we opted for the Honey Old Bay Wings, the Crab Cake Grilled Cheese and the Slammin' Salmon. Everything came out fairly quickly. The wings were amazing! Very tender and hot and the Honey Old Bay Ratio was perfect. I loved my Slammin' Salmon sandwich and the Crab Cake Grilled Cheese was also good. The portions were large and we had a great time here. Would definitely recommend coming!

We have been served by repeat waiters/waitresses as well as the owner of the place many times over our visits. And if you need something you can always call over a nearby waiter. The food is also good. We recommend upgrading to the onion rings which may be the best we've ever had. We also love the dry rub wings which always come out hot and fresh. The slammin salmon and the aloha chicken are our absolute go tos and they are always delicious. You can even ask for them on Brioche or as a wrap. All the outdoor seating was full, and inside there was only one table available. Most of the tables are larger, so we noticed some groups sharing space, which actually worked out fine. The restaurant has a great open-air feel even indoors thanks to the large garage-style door that opens up an entire wall. For drinks, my wife ordered iced tea and I had a Peach Mule. The mule was good, but next time I'd skip the rim garnish. They also have a big beer selection, and the prices seemed very reasonable. For food, we ordered the brisket burger (single patty with cheese, topped with shaved brisket, jalapeño slaw, raw onion, pickles, and sauce). They offer a deal where you can add a side and drink for $5, so we added onion rings and also ordered the Serpent Fries as an appetizer. The fries came out first and looked great and they did not disappoint. Fresh cut with bacon, pico, scallions, and a serpent sauce (seemed like a beer cheese). Really flavorful, I did ask for ranch, which was an extra $0.50. I understand charging for extras, but not everyone uses ketchup or mustard, so that felt a little unnecessary. The burger came out shortly after, and it was excellent. We split it, and it was packed with flavor. Honestly, adding bacon would make it even better a "Triple B" (Bacon, Brisket, Burger) would be perfect. The only letdown was the onion rings. The onions inside were very thin and overcooked, leaving them dried out with little flavor. Even without the over-frying, the onions themselves just didn't have much taste. Definitely something they could improve. Overall, it's a great spot for burgers and fries, and we'll definitely be back for that. We saw other dishes come out that looked good too, so there's more to try next time.

Also, the decor is great and the tap line is long. Aside from RAR beers there are a few rotating handles with beer from "guest" breweries. But no need to venture out to guest brews, RAR has great selections. If you're not a beer drinker they also have spirits and seltzers. I'm not sure about wine but I suspect they have a few options. Foood selections are comforting and simple - mostly burgers, wings, fries, tots and salads. For slightly more special options they have a brisket burger, crab dip and a few other tantalizing selections. I'll gladly work my way through the whole menu. I love that they brand Chessie into the buns. So cute! Chessie's has bar seating and lots of community tables so introverts be aware. When the weather is nice they have a great patio. To relive the memories of this great neighborhood bar, they sell merch and canned beer.

Recently I went with a group of family, some from out of the area, as it is convenient, the food is good, and is a good introduction to Bay life. Everyone was friendly, authentic and helpful. One of our group was celebrating a big birthday and the Cantler's team made him feel very special. Second, some of the food was very good such as the fresh oysters, oyster chowder and the hush puppies. Unfortunately, a lot of the food wasn't great, especially the seafood sampler and the crab cake. Maybe we should have asked for the crab cake and sampler to be broiled rather than fried, and that may have been why we were disappointed. The crab cake was particularly disappointing as it seemed mostly leg and backfill meat with a fair amount of filler and then deep fried. Will I go back, mostly like because of the staff and the gorgeous setting, but will only order steamed crabs to pick.
