Vin 909 is hands-down the best dining in Eastport and Annapolis so far. It is totally worth standing in the long line for. Unless you get there super-early at 4, before the 5pm dinner opening, and then wait in the shorter line. Unless you are having lunch there, and in that case I am guessing it may be the same, ie getting in the cue at 11ish before 12pm. I have had the Spotted Pig pizza and whatever enticing pie specialities they have rotated seasonally. I usually opt for the truffle oil or balsamic glaze on our pizza. I have never needed to tweak their delightful presented ingredients combinations. Their pizzas are that outstanding. Take for instance, a recent summer pizza from the Chef's own garden: "The Cuba Libra pizza ...This white pizza features mozzarella and parmesan cheeses, complemented by pork confit, chile-roasted jicama, pickled red onions, cilantro, and fresh mint." I'd never crave mint on a pizza but if Eastport's Vin 909 is serving it, I'm probably going to enjoy it. If you are the more traditional type, another seasonal pizza featured is the Yankee Pie: "family recipe crust with tomato sauce, mozzarella, ricotta cheese, summer sausage, marinated red peppers and oregano." And yes, please, to another summer, perfect-in-Annapolis feature: "Vaquero Clams: Steamed local little neck clams, English ale, bacon, grilled poblano peppers, garlic guajillo butter, fresh oregano, epazote and cilantro." I love the gigantic Vin 909 featured arugula salad. I also miss their divine french press coffees and Butterscotch Pudding with caramelita points. A little known fact: when I was there, you could purchase extra caramelita points for $2 or $3. Vin 909 is truly the best dining in Annapolis -- or Naptown -- as folks like me say. read more

I'm glad we narrowed down our group size because 2 and 4 top tables os the setup it has. We had many menu items. I thought after appetizers I'd be full after sharing 1 pizza. Nope, needed a second. Absolutely amazing delicious food for a very fair price! Great wine parings available also for a fair price. There is plenty of parking nearby. You should be prepared to show up early (at latest 4:45pm) or wait for a while for a seat. If you get lucky, you may be able to snag a bar seat since those are first-come first-serve. We learned that the menu changes each season to reflect the different ingredients that are fresher or more available that season. I think this is a great idea! The decor is clearly also changed season-to-season, and it was very cute and fall-themed during my visit. We ordered the parpadelle spinach cream pasta special, butternut squash arancini, steak, pizza special, and butterscotch pudding for dessert. The butterscotch pudding is a must-try!! It's easily one of the best desserts I've ever tasted anywhere. For entrees, I highly recommend the steak (which is cooked in a rich and flavorful Moroccan-style sauce) or the parpadelle (which was a special on the night we visited). On a busy weeknight, I wandered into Vin 909 with my partner. It's a small seeming place, on the side of a relatively quiet road, with ample parking. It's supposed to be a wine bar, I guess, and the wine is their main focus, though they are also apparently well known for their pizzas. Despite it being busy, we were seated pretty quickly in the back area, and were served quickly. Our waitress was great, and offered a lot of good drink and food suggestions. I love the way the wine is broken down. They've got three categories, which are snarky grouping by price. I am drawing a blank on the names of the categories, and they're not on the website, so .... they were something like, "Wallet Friendly Wines," "I can splurge a little," and "Money is no object to wine!" Theirs were probably better and more creative -- dock me one star as a reviewer for not remembering. :) The wines were good. I tried two different ones, including an unusual "orange" wine, which is a white wine left to contact the skins. It was a little fruitier than I usually like in a white wine, but it was good still. The food for me was where it fell down. I ordered a charcuterie plate, which was honestly kind of skimpy for the price. I also got a burrata, which is served with "harissa roasted carrots." The harissa was incredibly spice forward, and... burrata is a delicious, but delicate cheese. The carrots and harissa basically contaminated it and overpowered it. They might as well have dipped it in coriander and cumin. That's fine if you want to eat coriander and cumin, but not if you want burrata. My pizza was the biggest let down. It's a "rustic" style pizza, but it frankly translates to "poorly made." It's a good size, roughly oval pizza, with very thin, crispy crust. Like a giant cracker. It's then cut into 16 pieces (give or take, don't quote me). Some of those pieces had /nothing/ on them. Like, just crust. No cheese. No sauce. No toppings. Others had just sauce. I'm not a big fan of pizza, but when I eat it, I expect every piece to have sauce, cheese, and toppings on it... if I wanted to eat just crust, I'd just ask for a pile of aperitif crackers. Great atmosphere, good drinks, fair price, but ... terrible food. If I lived nearby, I'd stop by for a drink now and again, but I wouldn't eat there. read more

On my birthday, we were looking for dinner after our initial choice was too busy, so we went to Vin 909. They were pretty busy at 7:45 on a Wednesday but we were seated promptly. They have a lovely outdoor patio space that was covered with space heaters for the winter, and I can only imagine how great it will be in the summer. The service was great throughout. I wanted to make sure I got a wine that paired well with our meal so the server recommended I order the wine after the food so she could give me a recommendation. We ordered a charcuterie board, glazed carrots with burrata, and the spotted pig pizza. The server recommended a Sangiovese to pair, and it was an excellent choice. It tasted really good with everything. The charcuterie board was good but honestly a little skimpy on the bread and apples so not every bite was evenly distributed. I enjoyed the burrata - it was a really interesting mix of Italian and Indian/Middle Eastern flavors that was unique and different. The pizza was also good but like the charcuterie board, the toppings were not evenly distributed so there were some bites with everything, and some bites that only had sauce or cheese. Brought a group of 5 into this little cottage tucked away in the suburbs of Annapolis and I'm so glad I did! We got to experience their farm-to-table Modern American menu and amazing hospitality. With a marvelous wine list and shared plates, there is something for everyone at Vin 909!! Be sure to arrive early! We arrived at 4:30 and there was already a line formed for their 5pm seating (we were already 4th in line)! They offer a rotating menu, the skirt steak, squid ink pasta, and margherita pizza were truly exquisite! The corn is was good as well but a bit too heavy on the lime for us. The wine was great, the service was awesome, and the ambiance was laid-back and inviting. We sat in the patio out back and it felt so homey. Have not been here in years and wanted to take advantage of being close to come back to one of my favorite spots. Wednesday night with 30 min wait, I'll take it. The food remained real good with a farm to table theme. We ordered the Alex Ovechkin and Farmer Scotty's pizza. Both real good, the pizz crust was better and more crisp on the edges and got a little soft towards the middle. The flavor profiles and fresh ingredients on both made for real good pizzas. The service lacked and could not really understand their system. It took 10 minutes after we were seated to get our drink order and water to the table. Then about another 10+'minutes to take our food order. One person took the drink order, another server delivered the drinks and 2 more took the food and delivered it. I'm don't really care about the system other than it took a long time. We received our food 50+ minutes after being seated. The food was excellent the speed of service just detracted from the overall experience. Let me just say this was THE SPOT, at 5pm sharp there was a line and people excited to sit down for wine and dine. I've never seen so many people at the door waiting for them to open. The staff was kind and efficient in getting everyone seated and served. Food was delicious, especially the pizza and desserts and the rose wine by the bottle was five stars. Parking onsite and out front on the street as well, but plan accordingly because it is popular and in demand. Indoor and outdoor seating and a fun bar wrap around as well. Oct 2024 It's been a while since we've been in to eat at Vine 909, so we decided to stop in for dinner. We ordered the spinach salad but switched the dressing to balsamic, and we also got the corn soup special to go with it. Then we went with our favorite -- the Porky Pig pizza. The corn soup was excellent, though it needed a little more seasoning. Once I added some salt, it really brought out the flavor. The Porky Pig pizza tasted good, but I was a bit disappointed. I understand prices have gone up because everything is more expensive these days, but if the prices are higher, the toppings shouldn't be reduced. There were hardly any meatballs on the pizza this time -- and if you look at my older photos of the same pizza, you can see a big difference. For dessert, we got the butterscotch pudding with the homemade candy bar, and we even ordered an extra candy bar. Both were excellent, as always. We love sitting at the counter so we can watch the kitchen cook everything and ask questions here and there. We've actually ordered different dishes in the past just from seeing them prepared right in front of us. Despite the disappointment with the pizza toppings, we will definitely return. Absolutely fantastic! Located in a converted house in Annapolis' Eastport neighborhood, I almost walked right past the entrance, but make no mistake, the food and the service really stand out. Staff was warm and welcoming. Decor was authentic and bright. It felt like I was dropping by my friend's house for lunch. My wife and I split the yellow dal appetizer, the Borough Pie pizza and the Moroccan Steak. All were delicious and flavorful. The steak was a bit on the small side, but they did list it in the "small plates" section of the menu. Next time, I'll be sure to order one more small plate or a salad. Vin 909 continues to shine brightly, amid much restaurant competition in Annapolis. We went there last night (a Friday, and the 4th of July). We had not been for a while. We had planned to arrive around 7:00, after the first seating. We were seated immediately at a nice table outside on the patio (our preference, whenever possible). I ordered a glass of pinot grigio and my husband wanted a beer, so he chose the Forward Brewing Kolsh. The beer was a home run, and from another neighborhood business we love. We had decided ahead of time to share several items. I ordered the Spring Local salad: mixed greens, radishes, roasted beets, goat cheese, & a hibiscus vinaigrette. It was a huge portion and we both loved it. My husband enjoys their Margherita pizza with pepperoni added. The crispy crust is perfect. We also ordered a side dish of the grilled asparagus to share. We asked for the whole grain mustard vinaigrette on the side (my husband was not sure at first about that combo), but he proclaimed it was the best asparagus he had ever eaten, and the sauce was light and tasty. The service was impeccable. They use a team model, so we interfaced with four different staff people, but our glasses were never empty. It's undeniable that this place has "it". Walking up to 909 you are welcomed but a lovely natural garden that screams pollinator goals - I mean how does a restaurant maintain such lovely foilage? Apparently by trade, some other passerby was bewitched by their pizza and offered their superb gardening skills up as trade. This is an abridge to Alex's version of the story but I really feel they must have loved the 909 so much it was a fair trade. This place feels like home. The restaurant was full of acquaintances, and individuals that looked as if they had a semi permanent fixture at the bar. They - the patrons, and the staff welcomed me kindly as I sat at the bar. You know it's a good place to be when the customers are as much part of the service as the staff is. I ordered two glasses of a lovely varietal I had never heard of thanks to their expansive and highly cultured wine menu - to enjoy with a cheese plate because my analysis paralysis kicked in with their perfect menu (everything here looks delicious). I met a lovely stranger or two and one even so kind to share his perfect piece of margherita pie with me (an absolutely euphoric experience please trust me on this one) and Alex, the owner, happened to plop down at the countertop next to me and entertained my love and affection for his beautiful restaurant for far too long. Guys, it's good. It's a fall in love, bring a first date, your beloved family, or connect with a stranger because you both happen to exist in the same space kind of place. This restaurant is a moment in time and I couldn't recommend it more. After having Vin 909 saved in one of my collections for several months, I finally made it in yesterday for dinner with my husband. We got there right as they opened as 5pm for dinner. There was plenty of free street parking right out front which made this location amazing. We opted to sit at the bar. Although I forgot the bartender's name, he provided excellent service from start to finish. I have been keeping an eye on their menu for a while and happy they changed to their fall menu as it had more options I would go for compared to their summer menu. I ordered a bottle of the Woolpack Sauvignon Blanc. I only drank two glasses and took the rest of the bottle home. The bartender made sure to wrap it with a chill pack to keep it cold. The wine menu is pretty large and I like how it is broken down into three price categories. Very reasonable. My husband had a craft beer (Allegash I believe) which he enjoyed. I started with the soup of the moment - a sausage, potato, carrot, collard green with a parmesan stock. I loved it. It was probably one of the most unique soups I have had before. Definitely tasty and recommended. I ordered the beef sliders and a side of brussel sprouts. I really enjoyed the brussel sprouts. The main issue I had with the sliders is they came cooked rare...very rare. I barely ate the beef and my husband took it home to eat later. Everything else was delicious but I basically ate a meatless sandwich. I find it weird that they serve it that rare without asking the customer. My husband had the spotted pig pizza for dinner. He enjoyed it and took half of it home since it was so large. I ordered a Chocolate Pot de Creme for dessert. It was super delicious! I only had half yesterday so I look forward to eating the other half tonight. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here. My experience at Vin 909 was okay. It was super busy and our wait was almost 50 minutes long. Ordered the margarita pizza, brussel sprouts, and speck-wrapped shrimp. Brussel sprouts came out first and were over-charred and burnt. It was still delicious, but I wish it wasn't so overcooked. The speck-wrapped shrimp was too salty and the cheese was overpowering. Could not taste too much of the shrimp at all. The margarita pizza was solid and the only real saving grace of the meal. Service was meh. I think our waitress was too busy/forgot about us for the check and refill for water. My mouth was so dry from the saltiness of the shrimp dish. Bottom Line: Excellent pizza and great service in an intimate atmosphere with limited parking. Finally, I made it to Vin 909 which is one of the most highly rated restaurants in Annapolis. My husband and I arrived at 5:45pm on a chilly Saturday evening and we waited about 75 minutes before our party of four was seated. We started with wines by the glass before moving on to a charcuterie board which consisted of a few cheeses, some typed of cured meat, nuts, olive tapenade and apples. Then it was time for pizza! We debated ordering two pizzas but decided to "over order" to take some leftover home. Every pizza we ordered was so good that there wasn't much to take home but I am glad that we got to enjoy the variety of pizzas. For pizzas we had the meaty "The Spotted Pig," the seafood forward "Man from Nantucket" and and the veggie intense "Fall Harvest." All three pizzas were really good but I think the Spotted Pig was probably my favorite with three different cheeses (Mozzarella, Provolone and Parmesan) and two different meats (wild boar meatballs and Soppressata salume) over a read sauce and topped with basil. Yeah, if I could only eat one pizza for the rest of my life I think it might just be The Spotted Pig. After overindulging on dinner we skipped dessert. As far as ambience goes, its intimate and cozy. And by that, I mean it can feel a little cramped at times. We were fortunate to score a booth in an alcove but I can definitely see where other tables might feel close to the adjacent tables. There is a small bar with a handful of seats that I am willing to guess is fully occupied more often then its not. Vin 909 doesn't take reservations and there is not really anywhere to wait inside so be prepared to stand out in the elements whatever they are at the time. If its nice weather then you can take a seat at some benches and sip on some wine. Vin 909 has a handful or so of parking spots but the lot was full when we arrived so we ended up parking at the Eastport Shopping Center (not sure if that is what its called) on Bay Ridge Ave and staying toasty while we waited for our table to be ready. Be aware, they do not take reservations. Show up at 430-445 if you want to get seated at 5 when they open. They have an extensive wine collection and cocktail menu that is offered right when you sit down. Our waiter read off a list of daily specials and we put in our small plate orders. The food came out so quick! We started with a Caesar salad, meatballs, and the burrata. Everything was delicious and d beautifully prepared. For our mains we had the Porchetta and the Chef Moore pizza. The porchetta melted in our mouths and the pizza was thin, crispy, and packed with flavor. I loved the selection of the wines by the glass, and the bread pudding was outstanding. Being a very busy spot means that everyone chips in to make sure no-one is neglected, but in this case, communications would go astray and cause unnecessary waiting for a drink to accompany a dish. Perhaps for the same reason, nobody asked how my meal was, seemingly to keep the throughput going. It was a bad day to order pizza, having seen many 'one bite' pizza reviews that day and that perhaps weighted this review accordingly, but the 'Coney Island Pie' I received had a soggy centre, with 100% flop. I don't know if being uncooked was the factor, but the topping sliding off to reveal the wet dough was a rookie mistake to have come from a brick oven. If I wanted to eat my dinner with a knife and fork, I should have ordered a dish al forno. The chef's kitchen is industriously showy, but the pizza oven out back failed to deliver. I feel like such a Scrooge! With all the glowing 5-star Yelp reviews, I just knew I was going to have a heavenly experience. We had a good experience, but we didn't quite leave this earth. Vin909 is on a mostly residential street in a mostly residential neighborhood. On this Friday evening, we had to circle the block to find a space to park (street parking). Their lot was packed, which told us we were in for a wait. It was maybe 6pm. We put our names on the list and waited in the car for a text to say our table was ready. Due to the rain, we couldn't take advantage of the garden area to wait. The first thing I noticed coming in was the place was small ( possibly a repurposed/enlarged home). There's no room to wait inside. Many people were sitting and more hovering behind it ordering glasses of wine. Our table was on the back patio area ( enclosed). It was tight back there, but even tighter in the front area. So how was the food/wine? My arugula and prosciutto salad was fine. Nothing special (these salads are usually basic anyway). I wished they would have chopped up the prosciutto instead of arranging the two slices on the sides. Hubby ordered a margharita pizza with pepperoni to share. It had a good flavor. Not the best pizza I've ever had, but I think it was worth another visit to try again. I got a glass of rioja rose and it was good. Excellent selection of wines, and they had budget friendly ones and more expensive ones-glasses and bottles. Our waitress was nice enough, but was very distracted. And there were larger tables that pulled her attention away. So there weren't a lot of visits. We ordered a pot de crème and apple crisp. The waitress forgot to put in the apple crisp so it didn't come. We brought that to the waitresses attention when we caught her attention. She apologized and in time it came. She did take that off the bill. We will try again, but probably on a less busy evening and we'll be there when they open. read more

This place is the the absolute cutest! It's on a pretty quiet street in Annapolis. Went there for lunch on a Saturday afternoon because I heard the pizza was the best around. I was not stirred wrong! We were greeted immediately and asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating. I chose indoor, it was pretty hot outside. The indoor seating is very quaint. All of the staff was nice and attentive. They have $5 glasses of select wines until 2:30 on Saturdays, that seemed like a plus. Since I was starving we both ordered pizza. I ordered the nutty guy and he ordered margherita. They placed them on a two tier tower on the table which was a smart space saver. The pizza is phenomenal! The crust is nice and thin, but the flavors are quite pronounced. I think I have found my new go to pizza place We did have dessert, well he had the cherry crumble and I had the white peach hibiscus tea.
