Went to Iron Rooster recently and overall had a really good experience. We started with the BBQ Rooster Bites and they were honestly delicious. They are definitely lighter on the sauce, so if that's your preference these are perfect. Personally, I like my wings a little saucier, so I would probably ask for extra sauce next time. The chicken itself was fried perfectly and the portion size was pretty solid. For my main, I got the buffalo chicken wrap with no buffalo sauce and it was amazing. The lettuce, guac, and pico all tasted fresh and paired really nicely with the breaded chicken in the wrap. My only complaint with it is they go pretty light on the guac and pico, so I wish there was a bit more of both. The pricing overall was fair too and didn't feel over the top for the quality and portions. The fries that came with the wrap deserve their own mention because they were phenomenal. Crispy golden brown on the outside with a soft, fluffy inside. Honestly, I'd come back just for the fries alone. I requested outdoor seating when making the reservation and they have a really nice outdoor section with a great atmosphere and view. They did a good job with the space they had, but the tables are pretty close together, so you can hear basically every conversation around you. The chairs were also a bit smaller and not the most comfortable for longer seating. Service was great all around. Our server was very polite and even helped my very undecided sister choose her meal. Everyone was friendly and it definitely feels like a nice place to bring friends or family. My only real complaint, and honestly this applies to a lot of places nearby, is the parking. I did tell the server I liked it and didn't go into much detail since she seemed very busy and I didn't want to add stress in the moment. Still, it's not something I would personally order again. The waffle situation was more frustrating. I initially received cornmeal waffles, but I had told my server ahead of time that I strongly avoid cornmeal. She said she would substitute them, so I was surprised when the plate came out with the original cornmeal waffles. I didn't realize at first and ended up taking a bite before noticing. I let the server know and she had the kitchen remake it. The replacement Belgian waffles were overcooked and dense, so they didn't really improve the experience. The butter though was genuinely delicious, just very rich and more of a holiday-style flavor than something I'd personally crave in warmer weather. I also had a basic cup of coffee made with Rise Up Coffee Roasters, which was $4.50. That felt overpriced for what it was. I could have walked right across the street and had a specialty coffee from the source for very little extra cost, which honestly would have been the better choice. It was a hot day and there was no wait for an outdoor table so we took it. They have done a great job providing shade on the patio. Service was friendly and efficient. Location was really happening with a street market going on right outside. Brunch cocktail menu was amazing, had a hard time choosing. The vodka blueberry lemonade cocktail I had was perfect for a hot summer day. My husband had a coffee cocktail that was delicious. Let's talk about the crab omelette. OMG. The pork belly was crispy and rich, and the grits were smooth and comforting! Smoked Brisket Chili Omelet: This omelet was loaded with smoked brisket and chili, topped with cheddar, sour cream, green onions, and tortilla chips. It was served with fries, but we substituted sautéed mushrooms. Homemade Pop-Tarts: These thick, chunky homemade pop-tarts were actually the main reason we came here! I loved me some Iron Rooster! Perfect location right in the heart of things by the waterfront downtown. Was like a 4 minute walk to the Naval Academy for our tour and we walked down to have breakfast first. They have tons of seating outside and inside and no wait to be seated when we arrived for breakfast. Service was prompt and efficient. Their menu is loaded with goodies. We tried a crab soup (tomato base), a pop tart and their breakfast quesadilla. The berry pop tart came out first like an appetizer and it was HUGE and so delicious. They have features pop tart flavors that rotate monthly so be sure to ask, but we went with the old faithful mixed berry and found it to be warm, savory and delicious. My breakfast quesadilla was huge and stuffed with onions, tomato, eggs, cheese and chorizo. It was served with house potatoes and they were wonderful too. I want to come back just to eat this! I had a large group of 14 adults and 4 children and was looking for a place in downtown Annapolis for brunch. Iron rooster made it so easy to book a reservation when I called and asked if it was possible. Then, the morning of, our group size changed to 8 adults and 2 children; when I called ahead, they said "easy, no problem". When we arrived, our table was all set up with 8 chairs and 2 high chairs. Our waiter Ethan was incredibly accommodating. I know large groups can be difficult for numerous reasons, but he showed us nothing but patience and kindness. The food was stellar, all our orders were correct, we didn't have to wait long, and at the end, Ethan split all of our checks with a smile! Some friends & i were excited to have brunch here, it looked nice with a great menu but before we even got sat we were getting looked up and down from the staff... not sure if it was racial as we are a diverse group of friends but off the bat felt a little uncomfortable. We pushed on and our server was "selective" with us - by that i mean that she was very interactive with the other tables around us, engaged in conversations and even tone was nicer but with us it was straight forward flat & non engaging. The food was overall okay, it all LOOKED so good but the flavor was lacking. Oddly enough our food took much longer than others around us. My partner got the Mick's Griddle with home fries - it was as expected... good in size but the flavor was just egg, sausage and cheese. I got the Bagels & Lox which came out last of the food for our table which is odd because a simple bagel you wouldn't think would take so long with roasted potatoes- i was so disappointed with the ratio of cream cheese on the bagels as it barely had any on it. We were shown to a table with our service dogs, and were met with the best service we've had in a while. I've been to this place twice I always love the watermelon & goat cheese salad. It's to the point that I create it at home. I just love juicy and sweet watermelon on hot summer day. It pairs well with goat cheese and balsamic glaze. We also got French toast and chicken. The French toast you really need to put the syrup on it. The chicken is southern chicken. The pancakes were so fluffy. Definitely recommend getting a topping though as the pancakes soak up the syrup so fast because it is pretty lite. Parking can be troublesome due to location but that's to be expected in downtown Annapolis. Prices are only slightly above average from what we have experienced.
