I've been in the surrounding Annapolis area for nearly 9-years and never done a ghost tour! Surprisingly, tickets were only $20/person, $18 with military identification and it was beyond worth it! There were at least 10 stories told of Annapolis facts and stories from earlier decades and it was informative, spooky, and most of all... interesting. The best night to go would more than likely be Halloween, but I lucked up and got tickets for the night before Halloween and had the best time! I've taken ghost tours in the Washington DC area, Charleston, Seattle, San Francisco, New Orleans, and San Diego. I enjoy ghost tours not because of the supernatural, but because they cover an area's unique history, quirks, and culture. I went on the Walking Ghost Tour of Historic Annapolis with Bonnie in December 2022. She is a warm, friendly, and enthusiastic tour guide. There was a hyper young boy on my tour, who liked to ask questions, and Bonnie was great in relating to him. That being said, I wish the tour included a deeper dive into Annapolis's unique history. I've been on ghost tours that were more memorable than this one, but nevertheless, I'm glad this tour is offered, and I am totally satisfied. At the very least, it's a fun way to walk the city at night. read more

I did the walking twisted history tour which used to be a bar crawl but is now a walking tour through the downtown area. This was such a fun, family friendly event that was also very COVID safe. Everyone is required to wear masks and you check-in outside the Maryland Inn. The host sends you a text with where to meet and parking info ahead of time, and her cell in case you're running late. The tour itself is really fun and has a lot of history facts with a couple ghost stories weaved in. Our host, Sarah was hilarious and brought in quotes from past Annapolis politicians. In total it was about a 90 min tour and we ended by the wharf so we could easily stroll about and grab a bit to eat. I highly recommend signing up for this or another tour if you're in the area. read more

This is a review for the regular ghost walking tour, not the pub crawl. We chose this one because my wife is pregnant so the pub crawl didn't really appeal to her obviously. We were lucky and got a private tour because no one else had booked on a Sunday night in March. Annette was our tour guide and she was fun, energetic and into the stories. It got chilly pretty fast, I felt bad we were the only ones out there, but she was a trooper and took us everywhere! Thanks Annette for a great tour! Now, the stories are good and interesting but not necessarily "scary" per se. Only a couple actually sent chills up my spine, but each had some neat historical facts and stories tied in with them. So I would say if you're looking to be terrified this isn't for you, but if you're interested in some learning while having fun, this is for you. I would try the pub crawl one once the next kid is here for sure. read more

My friend and I took two tours this past weekend: - Twisted History with Melissa and Haunted Pub Crawl with Annette. Both guides were great. Melissa has been doing this for 8 years, and it is so clear how much passion she has for Annapolis and for showing people around her beautiful town. I learned so much in such a short time. I loved the beautiful architecture, the interesting stories (with a twist!) and the beautiful walk through Annapolis. I appreciated that all the local businesses were setting up for Christmas, and all their outdoor decor was somewhat uniform. Very pretty. Melissa brought her sweet dog, Loki with her on the tour, and this was the best dog ever. She was the perfect companion for our tour. Annette is knowledgeable and friendly. She had her work cut out for her, because the bars were all noisy and not easy places to tell stories over all the background noise. There were only six of us, but I think it would be even harder to hear if there were more people. The Maryland Inn is so pretty, and it was a great spot to meet, but the bar was way too loud and congested for story-telling. There were multiple games going on and the TVs were distracting. The second bar was better, because we sat in the restaurant area. The third bar was upstairs, but there was loud karaoke going on downstairs. It was also sometimes a little crowded and difficult to get a drink quickly. I think I would have preferred to have heard the stories right outside the actual venues where the stories were based. It sets the ambiance more to have the visual of the building right in front of you, to understand the entirety of the ghost story. Either way, I enjoyed the tours. If I could do it again though, I would have booked the traditional ghost tour (non pub version). And as for Twisted History- I wouldn't change a thing about that one. read more

We went on both the Haunted tour and pub crawl last night. It was fun and the guides were great as were most of the others in the group (one or two drank wayyy too much at the pub crawl). The reason I gave it four stars is that 30 people on the pub crawl was way too many! We wasted tons of time waiting for each person in the group to get to the bar and buy a drink and by the time we were all gathered again, there wasn't much time left to hear from the guide. And that also really cut down on the number of pubs we could visit and hear stories about. I realize the tour company wants to make a profit, but they need to be reasonable about the number of folks on the pub crawl tours. read more

I have been on a handful of different ghost tours in my life. This one was more a history tour that included potential ghosts. I liked that about the tour, wasn't fake about the stuff, simply told it like it is and how people may have turned into ghosts. Customer service was great, and I was able to easily reschedule my tour when I wanted to move it back a week. I would recommend grabbing a Living Social or Groupon for the tour as I think it was a bit over priced if I had to pay the full price for it, but it was an awesome date night event at 1/2 price with the living social deal. Could be improved by keeping the same historical information, but adding more detail about the ghosts and what they are doing. read more

We took the walking ghost tour. Our guide was incredibly knowledgable and she did a great job of bringing the stories to life. Two of the bars she talked about included Reynolds Tavern and Rams Head. Shaun was a great story teller (and very educated on her stories!) as we hopped around 3 DTA bar spots and then a haunted building that was under construction. This was the second ghost tour I have ever done before. It was last Saturday the 13th for the 730 pm tour. I believe Melissa was the guide. The first tour I ever did was in colonial Williamsburg. I won't lie I don't believe in ghosts but I just did this tour for entertainment. This is a fun way to tour the city. Ghost tour is good for families. At no time was it scary. No one is jumping out at you. It is not that kind of tour. You get a little history along the way. Went on the Walking Tour @ 7pm on a Saturday. This is the family friendly version and there were kids on the tour, which wasn't a problem just FYI. Our tour guide was nice enough but I found myself spacing out a lot, bored. It was much more historical then ghosts, I wasn't spooked or even curious about going into the buildings. I would much rather hear about hauntings and encounters then 20 mins of unnecessary backstory. I am interested in the pub crawl, that may be more interesting. read more

Twisted History Tavern Tour We were 6 ladies on a "Girls Weekend". We wanted some history with a little fun mixed in. The Twisted History Tavern Tour definitely fit the bill. Melissa was awesome. Very knowledgeable. We walked to 4 different bars. If you wanted a drink you got what you wanted at the bar and headed to a quiet part of the Tavern to hear the history and story about the location. This is a fun event to do in downtown Annapolis! Especially around Halloween! We did the tavern tour and had a great time. It was a mixture of Annapolis history as well as a few ghost stories. Had a lot of fun hearing about the stories of Annapolis and all the haunted building that are around the town. A plus was being able to grab a beer and listen to the fun stories. I wouldn't recommend this tour for seniors or anyone who has trouble walking fast. This tour travels a bit of territory and the guide was moving very fast and it was difficult for elderley people in the group to keep up. The tour guide would start talking about the next site before the entire group even got there and I heard some seniors complaining. Also it appeared asking questions wasn't welcome. When someone did ask a question, either the guide didn't know or would answer short and then start walking to the next place. They probably should limit the size to a more manageable number. Tip - if you are elderly bring a flash light so you can see your path, and be prepared to go at a fast pace, and there won't be many options for sitting. I didn't have any trouble (I'm not elderly), though I felt bad for the seniors in the group. read more

The haunted pub crawl was PAINFUL. We were so bummed out. Our group of six was expecting a lively evening of spooky stories. Our guide, Annette, dragged us from bar to bar and droned on with the worst storytelling I've ever heard. At the last bar, one person fell asleep. This was our first experience with a haunted pub tour for our group of 4. We are locals to Annapolis and are pretty familiar with the bars around town. We met with our tour guide Clare at the pub below the Maryland Inn. From the very beginning we knew we were in for a great time. Clare was extremely knowledgable and had a great personality that made each story interesting and easy to follow. We went to 4 bars, each with its own room for our group to enjoy beverages as well as the haunted tales associated with our location. The cemetery was an excellent stop and really added to erie mood! Originally signed up for a more historically oriented tour, but due to circumstances we were asked to change the day of to the haunted pub crawl tour. The timing and momentum of this tour was great so good job to Sarah for this. We have been on other ghost tours and this was better than the one in Williamsburg, but not as entertaining as the tour in Charlottesville (which is based on a true murder that you follow the steps of the victim). We enjoyed most of the stories but sometimes zoned out on some of the more supernatural aspects, not due to the lack of hard work on the tour guide's or company's part, but just our preference. read more

Before you judge you should first enjoy. We like ghost tours. We are not huge ghost hunters or anything. We believe these type of tours provide history along with storytelling and a way to explore a new city. Saying that these folks exceeded our expectations. We were lucky to get Sarah and even luckier still to have her to ourselves. It being a Monday night the tour ended up being private.
