We went to Seasalt for a date night and really enjoyed it. We started with six oysters, fried oysters, and ceviche. For dinner, we had the clam pasta, scallops, and mushrooms, and everything we ordered was excellent. We finished with the bread pudding for dessert. We also tried the Seasalt Daiquiri, Barrel Aged Manhattan, and Old Maryland Fashioned and enjoyed all three. The atmosphere was great for a date night. It is nice without feeling too formal, and the service was great throughout the evening. This was an easy 5-star experience for us. We were immediately greeted by the owner who made us feel welcomed. The restaurant is beautiful and open. Loved the outdoor seating and it was a beautiful night. We told them we were celebrating our anniversary and the service by Katie was wonderful. We started with a specialty cocktail and the salmon apps. We got in before HH ended by 2 mins and the owner made sure that happened. The bartender was also welcoming and friendly giving us the down low on drinks and apps. Dinner was shrimp with a cabbage slaw and the seafood chowder. Had to get the daily bread infused with thyme. We had a largely positive dinner at Seasalt on April 27. Reservations went smoothly and the restaurant was not crowded on a Monday evening. We settled into our table and were welcomed by Shannon, our server. (There was a little confusion about this, but it straightened out.) The restaurant is bright and separated from the well-stocked bar. I had a Sagamore rye neat, and B ordered a glass of the Rioja. If there are oysters on the menu, you know I'll order them. There was a pretty good selection, and I opted for a half dozen Rappahanock oysters. They were excellent, sweet and briny. We each ordered a Caesar salad, but Shannon advised us that it was large enough to be shareable. More than enough. B ordered the pasta with clams, and I choose the Seafood chowder. The chowder was delicious, but B found the pasta to be too peppery for her tastes. Worse, three of the clams were unopened. We brought this to Shannon's attention, and she offered to put in a new order, but B demured, as she was full. At this point, Owner John Hogan came over to the table to chat. He told us the clams would be taken off the bill, and gave us a gift card, hoping we'd return. He stayed at our table for nearly 30 minutes, and we had a wonderfully engaging conversation with him. This place is located in Park Place off of West St. Next to the Westin Hotel. They have indoor, outdoor and bar seating. We had a table in the middle. It's a little loud due to the open concept but a nice setup. Our only appetizer was the Salty Bread and Butter, it's a must order. For dinner I got the Parisienne Gnocchi, it's not something I would normally order but wow it was good. A very light dish. My wife got the Clam Pasta, another very good dish. Seasalt is a great addition to the Annapolis dining scene. A dining scene that I personally have felt is been in decline for a while. It's sits in a fun part of Annapolis that is easy to get to, park, dine and then get on the road. Not the usually parking hassle like you have on main street. The restaraunt itself gorgeous inside, large glass windows let some light in, very open, your not eating on top of someone like other restaurants. I do have to tell you it does have some weird oyster bar in the corner that doesn't match the vibe or decor of the rest of the restaurant which I found very odd. It is also quite loud with the music which takes away from the whole feel... Service is damm near perfect, the staff is some of the nicest people you will meet. They really elevated the whole experience. They are beyond helpful and will take the time to answer all your questions to your satisfaction. They have an extremely strong cocktail program. I would say easily the best in the city. The food is the star (for the most part). The oyster selection is great, and super fresh. The hamachi crisp and tuna tartare are a must order!! The seafood chowder wasn't for me. The bartender explain the use a cauliflower brother verse a seafood broth. Gives it a real earthy taste. Not bad, just not for me. All in all a good experience. I was seated right away, which was nice My server, Chelsea, was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. For appetizers, I tried the salty bread (so good!) and the marinated octopus, which had a great mix of flavors. My main dish was the Ora King Salmon which was perfectly cooked and wonderfully seasoned.. For dessert, I ordered the apple crisp and it was absolutely delicious. The ambiance is modern, stylish, and spacious with great decor. Portions were just right, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. I did not drive so I can't comment on parking. They do take reservations, which is always a plus. One of the owners, John, personally came by my table to check in. My husband and I made reservations for our anniversary after hearing many good things. It's a beautiful restaurant. Overall, the food was excellent - pricey, but overall felt worth it for a special occasion. The stars of the show for me were the mussels in a green curry sauce and the gnocchi. My husband had the ribeye and the streak and sides were very good, although lots of fat on the steak (and $68!). We finished out the meal with affogato. The only thing that was not excellent was the service. Upon arriving, we sat for 20 minutes in a half full restaurant waiting for a server. We finally had to ask if anyone was serving our table. Overall the service was ok from there, but we did have to ask if we could place our dinner order. So would I return for another special occasion- yes. The dining room is spacious enough to hold parties of various sizes and the patio looks like a perfect spot to dine outside, it was raining on our visit. Service was top-notch. My wife and I thought we would try this new place in Annapolis for our weekly Friday date. The location was conveniently close to the West Street garage. We arrived 5 minutes early for our 5:00 reservation to discover that the restaurant didn't open until 5:00. Our bad, but we thought we would sit at the bar until they started seating for dinner. As soon as we sat down at the bar, the hostess came back and said that they could seat us now. The "house" has a wide open floor plan with attractive glass and chrome accents and modern design elements. We ordered drinks and wine from their extensive drink menu. I would note that the inclusion of a number of locally sourced wines (Dodon Vineyards) was a welcome surprise. The Maryland Old Fashioned is a nice version of a classic as well. The menu is limited, with a predictably strong emphasis on seafood, particularly oysters with more raw options than I've seen at most Annapolis restaurants. Fish of the day was Pacific Grouper which was chosen by my wife. I opted for two starters - grilled Octopus and fried oysters. The oysters were lightly fried and served with cocktail sauce and couldn't have been better. The grilled Octopus was sliced into coins and served in a bowl with cucumber and a lemon based dressing. Not a great presentation and fairly tough to chew. The Grouper was accompanied by a few chunks of squash and could have benefited from another 3 minutes in the pan. It was sauced with a beurre blanc. Rated as mid by my bride. Our server Jake was great and kept an eye on us without hovering. So why the 2-Star rating? We love spending our dates in Annapolis and we like checking out new places but we also know how many great kitchens we passed to get to SeaSalt so we were expecting more than what we found. read more

Seasalt is a class act, and one of the best restaurants I've visited over the past year. My server Chelsea quickly felt like an old friend, as she steered me toward the house made salty bread with butter compounded daily. Chelsea explained the wine menu changes constantly, as the staff keep trying different options from their wholesalers. The gruner veltliner I tried will probably be replaced by some other delight next month. I appreciated that Chelsea put my oyster order into the system so that the oysters would be served in geographic order; a little metal fork delineated where the next oyster variety started. Nice touch. I also tried the tuna belly ceviche and the Parisienne gnocchi, which was tossed with brown butter, kale, a variety of mushrooms, and piles of fresh-grated Parmesan. Hells yeah. Next time I'll try one of the desserts, I just didn't have room last night. Smart menu, enthusiastic and knowledgeable servers, and a management team that pays attention to the little things. My first experience was just okay, and I might not have gone back if family and friends hadn't encouraged me to give it another try--so glad I didn't write them off! My second visit was absolutely awesome. I went on Monday Lobster Night and ordered the lobster, salty bread, and the shrimp dinner. The lobster was grilled to perfection, paired with melted butter and an amazing sauce. The shrimp dish was excellent as well. We were seated with a view of the kitchen, which was such a joy to watch--great energy and attention to detail. I also loved the décor and overall atmosphere. Even the margarita was spot-on. OMG, This place was amazing. My husband and I are locals and didn't expect this restaurant to have such a lovely interior. It has a nice upscale yet casual vibe. The food was fantastic. I started with the local oysters, which were plump and tasted as if they had just been harvested from the sea that day. I then had the scallops, while my husband chose the shrimp. Both dishes were incredible! I especially loved the corn relish that accompanied the scallops; it had the sweetness of summer corn and paired perfectly. My husband enjoyed the cabbage with his shrimp. We do have one suggestion for the kitchen regarding the peach salad. When using fresh peaches, there's no need to grill them; they turned out mushy and didn't enhance the salad. It would have been better to have fresh local peaches alongside the greens, feta cheese, and a balsamic dark berry vinaigrette. Other than that, everything was great, and this restaurant will definitely be added to our rotation. It's a wonderful addition to the Annapolis food scene! read more

I've been dying to try this place since they first opened. I finally got a chance tonight. Front of the house staff were very personable. We had a 7:15 reservation and they were running behind. The manager (owner?) Colin came out and personally explained the delay and offered to seat us in the bar area at a high top. I normally would have declined, but I was starved and took a chance. Definitely glad I did. Bertie was our server. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and was able to offer suggestions and answered any questions we had. He was very attentive throughout, but not annoyingly so. We ordered two starters, marinated octopus and oysters guanciale...both were absolutely delicious! We were off to a great start. For our mains I got the ribeye medium rare. Came out the perfect temperature! Flavor wise, just ok. It was paired with potatoes and a few root vegetables. It also had a chimichurri on the side. Not a fan. It was on the sweet side. I definitely prefer a more savory sauce. It wasn't bad, but I probably will go a different route next time. In all fairness I did order a steak at a place that's very heavy on the seafood. I got an extra side of the pan roasted mushrooms...total chef kiss! I could legit eat that every single day. He got the shrimp. It was made with savoy cabbage, fennel, Meyer lemon and Pernod. Not a fan. Not so sure that shrimp and cabbage are the best combo, at least not for us. The only real criticism, is that this place is exceptionally loud. Like a bar type loud. I'm guessing it's just the acoustics of the dining area coupled with a very busy Saturday night.
