Cannoli. You have to ask for it. We didn't see on menu.

Food: Really good. I got the boneless rib eye. I normally get it cooked to a medium, but the waiter and a friend suggested medium rare. I ate the whole thing! Honestly though, I feel cooking it to a medium would have melted and incorporated the fat more. Plus I like the consistency of a medium more, but that's me. I heard no complaints at the table (7 people) Service: I really like JohnMario (Jeanmario?). He was very attentive in a super busy restaraunt. This place was 3/4 full in a Tuesday night! People like this place. Service was top notch. Ambiance: Osteria 177 has a bit of a hipster vibe. Modern yet rustic. A little dim, so if you wanted to take someone on a first date, this is a good choice. Our table however, I feel so bad. After the third bourbon, we started getting loud and boisterous. As the night progresses, don't be surprised if large groups get a little animated!

We wanted to find a nice restaurant to celebrate our 13th anniversary. Visiting from the West coast, we found this gem. WOW! Beautiful decor. From the moment of walking in, we knew it would be a great experience. Service was impressive, food was amazing and little dessert celebration topped off our dinner. Best old fashion I've had yet! If we return to Annapolis for another trip, this will be on our list! Thank you Osteria !!!

I had dinner at Osteria 177 a couple of weeks ago when I was in Annapolis for work for a couple of days (I decided to stay overnight rather than driving back to Baltimore and coming back really early the next morning and decided to treat myself to a nice meal)! It was a weekday night and they were pretty busy! But I was able to snag a seat at the bar, where the service, people watching, and company were great (I ended up talking to the couple seated next to me for an hour or so). But the food and wines were also great. I started with a Caesar salad with added anchovies, which is a classic I love. Then I went with one of their pasta specials, which was a penne with smoked seafood in a cream sauce, which was also delicious. They had plenty of great Italian wines, as well, so I had to have a couple of glasses (of Vermentino, if I remember correctly). Just in the heart of Main Street, Osteria is a great place for a dinner, whether solo or with a larger group. Definitely a gem in Annapolis's historic district.

What a gem in Annapolis! We were staying near Annapolis over Labor Day weekend for our wedding anniversary and delighted we found this amazing Italian restaurant. We went there based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. We did not have reservations but they kindly squeezed us in (never hurts to ask nicely!). Our server explained everything to us in great detail. The menu was a bit overwhelming since there was so much detail and we wanted to try so many things. We started with lobster bisque and the grilled octopus appetizers. The cocktails were terrific. My husband had the Chilean sea bass stuffed with crabmeat (amazing!) and I had the seafood with squid ink linguine. Squid ink linguine can come out all wrong or too seafoody smelling but this was so delicious. It made me think of the same dish that I had in Venice. The setting was fun and modern - had rich colors. The owners obviously love Italian actors and Italy - so do we! We are looking forward to taking our sons back to this spot with us next time. We live in the DMV and we've been to various good Italian places in DC but this was top-notch. (Better than some DC Italian big name places which shall remain name-less.) My current favorite Italian restaurant in the area. Cheers!

Ambiance, service, and absolutely delicious food and beverages. This had been on the list for far too long before being able to enjoy - and it did NOT disappoint. From appetizers to dessert it was a night to remember and soon repeat It was easy to make a reservation online (recommended as it got busy even on a Monday evening - when you eat here you'll understand why) and fantastic experience all around!

Dinner here was absolutely incredible. This is an upscale restaurant with a nice, swanky vibe. I had a Belvedere Martini with blue cheese olives to kick things off along with an order of the meatballs which were fantastic. The star of the show, however, was the main course paired with a nice Pinot Noir. I tried the pistachio crusted lamb chops and they were absolutely amazing- so tender and flavorful, the pistachio crust made for a unique flavor; I was 100% happy with my choice. Can't say enough good things about Osteria 177, this is a gem in Annapolis!

Osteria 177 has amazing food with service to match. The decor conveys elegance. Treat yourself and enjoy this gem of a restaurant on Main Street in Annapolis.

Sat us with Jake at the Bar on a very busy Friday night. Had a really fine experience. Cocktails were just right and the food choices outstanding. Jake was very attentive and made good recommendations. My wife tried a vegetarian dish with asparagus that she said was outstanding. I tried the ciopino was chock - full of seafood with a slightly spicy broth . Wonderful choice with house made toasts We are just passing thru but highly recommend !

What an elegant dining experience. From the hostess, to our waiter and servers, just excellent. I loved the decor and artwork of phenomenal Italian public figures. Fine dining lighting and soft, comforting music. The food and drinks were delicious. I recommend the grilled calamari and lobster bisque soup, amazing. There is a parking garage in walking distance for you to enjoy the beautiful downtown Annapolis scenery and ocean breeze.

Probably the best fine dining experience in Annapolis, wonderful flavors in a bright wood paneled interior with authentic Italian waiters. The Salmone Affumicato presentation, and taste were fantastic, as was the taste of the Polpette di Carne (Meatballs). Try the Tartufo Affogato for a real treat. This is full service, fine dining, with an extensive wine list and full bar.

This was our first visit to Osteria 177 and I sure hope it won't be our last. It was phenomenal! We began our evening here with cocktails at the bar which was small in terms of seating, but relatively large in terms of top shelf selections - especially of bourbons and tequilas. We enjoyed the decor, but most of all we enjoyed the menu and the courses we had. The toughest part of the night was choosing one entree, as there is so so much on the menu that sounds delicious and includes a lot of dishes you don't see everywhere you go. The bread was perfection and it was served with olive oil. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've ever had. Ever. The branzino filet was a delicate dish with a flavor that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Even the sides of veggies and potatoes were delicious and cooked perfectly. Our server, Dimitri, was helpful on all selections and extremely knowledgeable on all courses and wine recommendations. I'd recommend a reservation, and I'd recommend getting here if you're in the area and looking for an excellent meal. We will surely return the next time we are in the area.

Gnocchi with sausage, mushrooms, truffles in a cream sauce

Our 3rd time to Osteria 177 since moving to Annapolis 8 months ago. Our server, Dimitri, was incredible. Knowledgeable, helpful, attentive. We love the ambience. The food is consistently outstanding. My wife had the tuna carpaccio appetizer and orechiette with sausage and broccoli rabe. Absolutely delicious. I had Gnocchi (instead of rigatoni) with sausage and mushrooms/truffles in a creamy pecorino sauce that was incredibly delicious. That was followed by the filet of beef in a peppercorn and brandy sauce. Cooked perfectly and every bite was delicious. We shared a tiramisu which was terrific. To date, this has been our favorite dining spot and the overall experience is next level. Just outstanding!

We consulted you, the Yelp Community, for recommendations. You did not disappoint! The restaurant is in a complex with a hotel and other shops in the heart of the town. We parked in a nearby garage (easy) and walked over. We didn't have a reservation, but, fortunately we were able to get a table for 2. Yay! The atmosphere is warm with a sophisticated feel. We were greeted promptly, got drinks and they took our order. First up was a simple, traditional tomato and onion salad, no lettuce, with an oil and herb dressing. This was the only soft note in the meal, mostly because this type of salad needs a tomato with lots of flavor, particularly an acid note to balance the oil. These tomatoes weren't up to that task. It was still very good, just on the bland side, and getting good flavorful tomatoes late in the season can be challenging. Entrees! I got the Pappardelle with Bolognese gravy. Anyone who has read my reviews for a time knows I have a problem with tomato gravy with beef being sold as "bolognese". Pure joy when nicely cooked Al dente noodles showed up smothered in a legit creamy bolognese. Y'all, it was really good. Lys had never experienced Smith Island Cake. Shocking, I know. So we of course got a slice to split after dinner, despite being pretty stuffed. The cake didn't disappoint. It was fudgy (almost like a thick ganache) and moist but not mushy or falling apart. Lys now understands why this is the unofficial dessert of Maryland. Sooooo good. Awesome place. Highly recommend.

Before we'd sat down, the waiter was trying "to start us off with calamari'. Is it a special or on the menu? What's the price? Who knows, because he never said. Fortunately, who cares, because neither of us likes calamari, and this was just lunch. I asked what beers they have (spoiler -- just a handful and not very good ones) and the waiter tells us that he likes beer because he's German, but he doesn't like schnitzel or sausage or other German food. Like I care, but I happen to love many German dishes so thank you for trying to make me feel like someone who doesn't know good food from crap. Bottom line on the beer: the Peroni had gone off from sitting too long so it was a $8 Corona for me. Another bad sign of things to come was that the waiter had to keep going back to the kitchen (fyi, we were the only customers) to talk to the "chef" who only spoke Spanish. So much for the hype of this being the restaurant of an Italian chef. Of course, the owner/chef can't be there all the time, but good Italian cooking requires some facility with that cuisine, and there was no evidence of that in our meals. My wife loves chicken parm, which was a special today, and what she ordered, with extra sauce. I ordered penne ala vodka. Mine arrived and I was stunned to see the dark orange sauce, which didn't look like any vodka sauce I've ever had. Didn't taste like them either -- way too sweet for one thing. The chicken strips were like bits of leather, and I left them, along with half the penne. The wife's chicken parm was another disaster. She could not eat any of the chicken, or whatever mystery meat they served; there was no sauce on the Angel hair pasta, and no sign of the extra sauce -- for which they charged $2, but didn't tell us there'd be an upcharge. The cheese on her parm was also inedible -- the kind that you chew and chew like it's bubble gum and can't swallow. She basically had some Angel hair pasta and I basically had some penne. When he took our almost-full plates away, the waiter ignored my comment that my chicken was inedible. When he brought the check, he wished us a happy rest of the day and said he was glad we'd come in. I told him that made one of us. Will never be back.
