First of all I used the yelp app to order my food. Super simple even allows you to add a custom tip and also provides you with real time tracking to know when your food will be ready. It had been a while since I ordered from Pep Boys, but I had a hankering for a good pit beef sandwich and fries. The pit beef sandwich was moist medium rare and warm to the touch, exactly the way you would want it served. It had a smoky flavor and had the perfect meat to bun ratio. Flavor was magnificent. One of the best pit beef so I've had in a long time, even during the quarantine they're putting out awesome products. The french fries in my opinion stole the show, even though they probably came out of a frozen bag from your local grocery store, where in the earth do you find crinkle cut fries now days. They were piping hot and extra crispy with a little salt and pepper on them made the meal perfect If you're quarantined and scared to be around other people, place your order ahead using the yelp app, watch the timer and then enter the store, which has been perfectly social distanced inside take your meal go home and enjoy. read more

Memorial Day weekend. '22 I've been within an arms length of their truck and the restaurant for years and never indulged until this weekend when I discovered annapolis seafood was closed. To my surprise they were remarkable good! Best crabs I've had in a minute. Memorial Saturday was busy so there was a bit of a wait-- 20-30 min ( a dozen large were 120 & steamed to perfection with J.O); we also ordered a Lb of steamed shrimp.) The crabs were not ridiculously hard to crack and were moist and succulent! The large were about 5"-6" from what I could glean. Tables & benches were available inside & out. And the area relatively clean. Admittedly there was a bit of an odor inside, which can sometimes come from shells & refuse but if they stay on top of it it shouldn't be an issue; I think they were slammed Memorial Day weekend and will give the benefit of the doubt here as it otherwise was clean and they seemed to be on top of the tables. Will definitely revisit -sooner rather than later- and kicking myself for not stopping by all these years prior too! read more

My mother & I are in town for a figure skating competition from Pittsburgh & since we are in Maryland we wanted crab for dinner! So the search started! We came across Pit Boys & called to double check to see if the did have crab, they did! When we arrived the owner asked what we were planning on eating & we told her we were interested in having crabs! Turns out they usually close on Sundays at 7pm but they made an exception for us, thank goodness! We ordered a dozen crabs & enjoyed every single one! They were cooked perfectly, the meat was sweet & juicy, & the old bay seasoning was just the right amount! There was plenty of seating complete with wooden picnic style benches, a bar, & $1 homemade cookies for dessert! It was my first time trying Pit Boys for crabs. I called ahead for a half dozen of large male crabs which were $80/dozen. When I arrived, I paid and was told to wait in my car and someone would bring them out. The crabs were well seasoned but I was upset with the size and weight of the crabs for the price. They were very light and most of the legs were off of them. I'm on a mission to try at least 10 new crab spots this season and this is number 2. It was okay, but I'm not that impressed. read more

Rich has been wanting to try Pit Boys and at our latest visit to our daughter's place he finally got his wish.We wanted to share and sample a lot of different items so ordered enough for a couple of meals. The restaurant looks like a typical crab house, paper covered tables, not a lot of fancy frills. We ordered some platters, each which come with two sides, plus some extras. We ended with a feast! Jen and I each ordered the vegetable crab soup and a salad. The soup didn't look too promising but once I stirred it up and got to the vegetables and crab it turned out to be quite good with just a little spicy kick. My garden salad was way better than what I expected. Even Jen gave it a "wow" when she saw it. Rich and I shared it for lunch and had the leftovers for lunch the next day. Jen's Caesar salad was a little disappointing and I don't think she'd order it again. mainly because of soggy croutons. For our proteins we had crab cakes, fried chicken, turkey and brisket. The crab cakes were very good, lots of lump crab with little filler. The turkey was delicious and thinly sliced. I didn't try the brisket as I don't eat beef, it was Jen's choice. But the fried chicken was the stand out for Rich and me. It was so good. Because we were sampling I just had a portion of the wing, but I would probably order it as my main meal next time. For our sides we had garlic potatoes, mac and cheese, pasta salad and hush puppies. I only tasted the potatoes and they were good, I was too busy with my soup, chicken and salad to sample all the sides. With all we ordered there were still a lot of dishes we didn't try. The menu is extensive with bbq and seafood and sides. Next time we visit Jen we'll just have to explore the menu some more, but I won't be ignoring that fried chicken! read more

The shrimp salad is pretty good. The service not so much. I did a call in order about 15 minutes away from the restaurant expecting it to be ready by the time i got there. When I arrived no one greeted me, and the lady behind the counter was also serving tables so i didn't make a big deal about not being greeted. But then roughly 5 minutes go by and she just keeps walking by me to cater to the tables. So I decided to just let her know I was here for a pick up order. She still does not say anything to me and walked to the back kitchen area where I then hear her tell someone "the shrimp salad order is here". Then comes out to tell me its going to take 10 min. I've lived in Annapolis Md for nearly 40 years. Everybody I know raved about Pit Boys and how great it was. I've been there three times. Twice for Pit Beef and once for Cream Of Crab Soup. Pit Beef: Luke Warm slices of Medium Rare Beef. Cream Of Crab Soup: A 45 minute wait for A cup of dish water with some kind of debris in it. I threw it away after I opened it. read more

Ignore the name and, gosh, ignore many of these reviews. This is the best crabcake in Maryland. If you go in July or August you may get tomatoes from the owner's garden on your sandwich. No fries! Get the chips. They're handmade with just a teensy amount of old bay (which i usually don't love) -- they're fantastic. The people that work the counter are always super nice. Unimpressed. Poor service, no ambiance of any kind and eh food. Since I'm new to the area, it was my first visit and I told the young girl behind the counter that I was excited to try the brisket. Not something you can find everyday. I was the only one there and an older woman was on the floor tidying up. I also asked the bread options. All options were soft breads so asked if they could toast. I pay, the girl puts the order as a to go as asked . A few minutes later, I'm told there is no brisket. I order the beef instead. Girl tells me it's the same price, "...so it doesn't matter". I check the menu and there is a difference but I don't say anything yet. Next, the cook starts speaking loud enough for me to hear to the older woman in the dining area and it is obviously not being prepared for to go because he's asking. So I ask her to question if she could check on whether the bread was being toasted. That seemed to be a foreign concept to the cook. She tells him how to do it! The sandwich meat was good but basically plain roast beef, the bread was a soft hamburger bun slightly toasted. Bring your own Kaiser Roll or Ciabatta. Last thing I want is saucy meat melting my bread and the whole thing falling apart. They also forgot the requested onion and pickle. I won't be back. Nothing special. read more

Unbelievable in a bad way. I saw so many posts about how good this place was so my buddy just moved to Eastport so I wanted to try it. The first visit we got brisket sandwiches and it took almost 45 minutes to get when other food came out faster. No taste and no seasoning. Just an average sandwich. I asked for spicy bbq sauce and they brought me spicy pulled pork. Not happy and the lady at the cash register did not care and must hate her job. We tried a second time. On Mother's Day we got three dozen crabs for $120 each. We are about two dozen before we just got grossed out. 5 were rotten and some of the other just were overcooked. Not happy. Stopped in this hole in the wall for a great open faced beef sandwich. Perfect is the right word for it. The shrimp on a garden salad was also excellent! Strange how it is usually these small local places (they've been around over 25 years) are the places we usually miss - which isn't a good thing. They also had crabs available. We placed our order over the phone and the process was pretty simple and quick. We ordered two scallop entrees, one soft shell entree, a full rack of ribs and the Wednesday special of pulled pork and fries for $7.00. The entrees all came with two sides and instead of fries with the special we got onion rings for an up charge. The food was ready within 30 minutes and packaged well. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the sides--but from everything we got it was very good; Mac n cheese, cole slaw, broccoli (vegetable of the day), mashed potatoes with gravy and onion rings. Everything was good. As far as the entrees go; the ribs were very tender and well cooked. The bbq sauce is a vinegar base and had very strong flavor. The scallops are bay scallops so they were small but it was a decent portion. I've never had soft crabs before--I will definitely get them again. Decided to give this place a try today for lunch. Food did not disappoint, excellent Pit beef sandwich and a side of fries. Price wise I would consider them a little on the expensive side. $2.95 for a large soda. I really didn't know that they offer dine in seating, I thought it was carry out only. Much to my surprise there is plenty of space with picnic and regular tables to eat at. I will definitely come back as they have more options to choose from. This review is for carry-out crabs. I've gotten them three times so far this summer, and each time they've been delicious! I really like their seasoning, and it's always just the right amount. First time we got mediums, then larges, and last night we finally managed to snag some "supers", or jumbos, for $85/dz. The crabs have always been meaty, regardless of size, but last night they lived up to their name. We had a couple of questionable crabs, which we set aside, but that happens. It is a bit more impactful with the jumbos when you don't get the "compensatory" crabs, as you do when you get mediums/larges, but it was still plenty of food. Ancillary: I did note some confusion amongst others' medium crab orders as I waited to pick mine up last night. The people in front of me were given the wrong bags and then had to wait for theirs. The very sweet girl behind the counter was trying to assuage everyone, but mentioned they'd had a dozen orders for a 5:00 PM crab pick-up. I hope they sorted it out after I left, but just make sure your order is accurate if you get carry-out. We will continue to get our crabs from Pit Boys. read more

To say that the ribs are underwhelming is an understatement. The place should be called Oven Boys because there wasn't even a hint of smoke on these ribs. They were flavorless and had so much fat. The ribs tasted like the ribs at a big buffet. This is not a BBQ place. Also, the place was empty and I had to wait 25 minutes to get my carryout order. I have not had a bad meal from Pit Boys. It has become my go to. Crabcakes, hamburgers and everything is delicious.

So disappointing. We ordered the fried oyster basket, pit turkey sandwich, and crab soup. The oysters were fried and mushed together in the container. I didn't notice until I got home, or I would have returned them. The crab soup with nothing except tomato sauce and a few potatoes. The pit turkey was ok, but nothing special. Food quality is not where it should be. I suggest sticking with the crabs. read more

We didn't get crabs - so this review is just for the BBQ, which was pretty tasty. The layout of the place feels a little sparse, perhaps because it's new-ish or maybe because of the crabs they ofer. There are long picnic tables running nearly the length of the restaurant with a few other 4-tops near the windows. There is also a "bar" at one end, that wasn't staffed and a cash register with a cold case and a line of condiments. I got the NC style BBQ which was a bit too spicy for my liking. I also ordered a basket of hush puppies, which were very plentiful - maybe 8 in a basket and came with honey for dipping, which was something new to me. My son got the fish bites and fries which he really enjoyed. It is a VERY casual place, so the prices seemed too expensive for the dishes. The service was very slow with very few refills of tea and I had to get up to help myself to the horseradish and BBQ sauce, which was fine, but just felt strange in the setting. Hopefully all of this is because it is new-ish. I hope to update the review with more positives as they grow into their new location. read more

These are some of the best steamed crabs I've ever had in my life. I was not expecting that, but my mom was speaking so highly of this place that I had to check it out for myself. I assume it's a family owned restaurant because the waitresses appeared to be very young. Regardless of age, they were attentive, friendly and helpful. I also tried the Maryland crab soup but wasn't as impressed with that. I will return to try other options on the menu! Pit Boys catered a large birthday for us recently and the entire process was perfect from start to finish. We met with Marla and her team to go over our food selections, were offered great suggestions in areas we hadn't quite nailed down, and they took care of our beverages, the bartender, and our large birthday cake. It made our party planning a breeze. The day of the event, they showed up on time and their delicious food ready and displayed nicely when the doors opened for our guests. The bartender was great, always smiling, and very friendly. When it was time to clean up, the crew was together again packaging leftovers of food and beverages for us to take home, cleaning their work areas, and making sure we didn't need any further assistance with anything.
