Pulled pork sandwich! Moist, delicious and big enough for two! Roll was great too! Not a potato roll. Just a plain roll, just right.
    Deborah N.

Came here after a disastrous lunch at RIPs in Bowie and a trip to a somewhat nearby beach. I found this place on Yelp and I cannot say enough good things about the food! I had a pulled pork sandwich that was big enough for two people. I also got a side of mac & cheese, which to be honest was a little too liquid cheesy for me so I would pass on that next time. After I ordered, I was talking to one of the employees and he advised me next time to get the sliders so I could try more things. Because I don't live in that area unfortunately. I think if I did, I would go every week! The prices are much higher than the menu picture here, but I suppose that is true at most places these days. The staff was extremely friendly and you could tell they cared a lot about the food they were serving. The only negative is the lack of seating inside. They have a few benches, but they don't really look like they're designed for dining. There were some outdoor picnic tables, but I tried to eat there and some sort of insects showed up so I ended up eating in my car. I found a few other places in this area that I want to try, but I am definitely going to bring a cooler in the car next time cause I would love to get some stuff to take home and try some more of their sides! Also, they don't have a bathroom so make sure you take care of business before you arrive !

Pit Beef Sandwich & Pit Turkey Sandwich

Good food, kind and courteous employees. Content with my decision to stop by for some meat sandwiches. The workers let us try some/sample some meats before eating which I'm really glad they did! They also cut all their meats right before so I know the quality is good:) All the sandwiches have the option of adding cheese and cole slaw (def recommend, adds texture to the soft sandwich) The restaurant is very casual, no seating inside. Some benches outside though. Mostly pick ups only, no sit in! Pit Beef was pretty much a roast beef sandwich. Kind of dry, not as much flavor as I would like but still it's ok, and sauces are accessible on the side. You can add sauces yourself later on. But large serving of meat which was nice!! I would definitely recommend the pit turkey. The pit turkey was delicious. The turkey meat is so soft and not too salty. All my friends kept taking bites out of my sandwich haha. It had more flavor than the roast beef and was moist.

Great First Visit to Sunderland's New BBQ Spot…read more We heard about the new BBQ restaurant in Sunderland (Calvert County) on Facebook Friday, but we were out of town for the weekend. On our way home Sunday, my wife and I decided to stop in and give it a try. I had seen posts online saying people were waiting in line, so we were curious. When we pulled up, there wasn't a line outside, but once inside, there were a few people ahead of us ordering and some waiting on their food. While we waited, we overheard them call out that they were out of "The Hardesty" - a buttermilk fried pork chop sandwich. It must be popular because it sounded really good! The menu is impressive for a new place--11 sandwich options including: Ole Boy - Pulled pork shoulder Bossman - Chopped brisket (what I ordered) Balmer - Sliced charred beef with Vidalia onions & horseradish cream Dixie Chick - Pulled chicken Hardesty - Buttermilk fried pork chop on artisan white bread with sriracha mayo Bourdain - Grilled mortadella with provolone & dijonaise on brioche Italian Stallion - Salami, mortadella, ham, provolone, cherry peppers, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, vinaigrette South Philly - Sliced ribeye with sautéed onions & provolone Chi Town - Braised ribeye with peppers, mushrooms, onions, provolone, sweet jalapeños, lettuce, tomato & vinaigrette Wrap & Roll - Crispy chicken Caesar wrap SBF Wings - Plain, mild, or hot Sides included boardwalk fries, potato salad, pasta salad, baked beans, coleslaw, kale, and a cucumber salad. My wife ordered the Italian Stallion and I went with the Bossman, plus a side of summer pasta salad to go. While we waited, we chatted with a woman putting out some condiments --turns out she was a family member and grabbing food. She mentioned everything is made to order and how proud they are of the quality. We didn't wait long for our food, although another woman we were talking with had ordered quite a bit earlier and was still waiting. Right before we left, someone announced they only had two orders of boardwalk fries left--they're definitely getting hit with a lot of traffic and selling out fast. A couple notes: it seemed like some sandwiches may have been pre-prepped because on ours the Bossman was marked with abbreviations on the wrapping. Also, my wife had asked for vinaigrette on the side for her sub, but it was already on it--not a big deal, just something for the staff to tighten up as they settle in. There are a few tables inside that you can dine in and eat if you choose. Dont know if they offer sit down service. As for the food: My Bossman sandwich was excellent--tender, flavorful brisket. The pasta salad wasn't my favorite and wasn't very cold when we got home, so I put it in the fridge--hoping I'll enjoy it more chilled. My wife really liked her Italian Stallion--lots of meat and great flavor. Overall, we were impressed. Definitely Outstanding above another mobile BBQ spot in the area. We'll absolutely be back--and next time, I hope to try that Hardesty sandwich before it sells out!

Only a certain number of folks can be let in at a time to control seating which is available in and out. I had the short back ribs (which were so delish they fell off the bone), mac and cheese (warm cheesy goodness) and tried some of the baked beans (with brisket, jalapeños and saucy goodness). We also brought home some turkey, and their two kinds of brisket. Sweet baby Jesus. The wagyu brisket is buttery, melt in your mouth delish and the prime brisket is more traditional. Moist is the only way to go. While they have sauce, all their meats are so well seasoned you'll never want any. Make the drive and enjoy every dollar spent for the meat sweats.

Very fresh and they tasted great. The onion rings were greatly good along with excellent cole slaw and collard greens. All very fresh, tasty and in perfect sized portions. The service was also pretty fast but we were here doing a slow period. I assume on weekends when this place is busy you might wait a while. The minor drawbacks are: 1. The inside dining area is very small so this place must get crowded during busy periods. The outdoor seating area is covered but sort of lame and not very inviting. We dined inside which only seats about 20 or more. It wouldn't be comfortable in 90° plus weather outside 2. They have a gravel parking lot which is kind of awkward. It's also very difficult and dangerous making a left turn out of this place onto Central Avenue. Regardless, we will definitely be going back here because the food is just fantastic. Looking through the menu I really thought I had found a gem. However, not so much. The armadillo eggs were supposed to be fried brisket and cheese stuff jalapenos. which sounds amazing, but the filling was more like a puree of brisket and cheese, weird texture definitely no tender bits of brisket which was a shock. I would've like some chopped brisket in the filler, but the texture was way off. I went on to have the smokehouse sampler with Chicken, Brisket, and Pulled pork. I got Brussel sprouts and mac & cheese for sides. The brisket was dry and felt reheated. The chicken was tough and the breast was over cooked, and the pulled pork was dry and bland. The only thing saving this food was the sauces. For a smokehouse, the food doesn't have the flavor profile of smoked meat. My wife got the eastportorican, which is a cuban, but it was dry. There was only 1 server for all the tables, so I'm not sure if they were just under staffed and having a hard time, but you only get one chance at a first impression and this was not a good one. I actually had no complaints about our server either, she was doing better than most people would in her situation, and the customers were pretty patient.
