Not a fan!! This place has gone downhill!! Way overpriced, Ribs burnt! Staff not friendly! Definitely not returning!

Last night, we went to Adam's Ribs restaurant in Edgewater with my niece and her husband. The 4 of us always have a great time together and it almost makes no difference where we go. But they had been talking about Adam's Ribs for a long time so it was nice to find out that their recommendation was absolutely true. Adam's Ribs is not fancy. You can understand absolutely every word that is on the menu. There is no arrogant snot-nosed hostess looking down her plastic surgery improved nose at you when you show up to eat without reservations. But here is what Adam's Ribs does have - absolutely real, home cooked food that is delicious, servings that are big enough to make you feel sick if you eat the whole thing and great service with a smile from a waiter who has clearly tried everything on the menu. Bottom line? I love this place and would go back there tonight if it was not 1 hour away from me. We started out with the full loaf of onion straws. OMG wonderful! The onions were so sweet, the breading was perfectly crispy and not oily at all. For an onion lover, there is nothing better than this appetizer. It is served with a Daniel Boone-sized knife to cut and, believe me, you will need it! This appetizer makes a full meal if you are alone. My main course was the 8 ounce sirloin, medium rare. I am telling you that my steak was fork tender and really flavorful. Perfectly done! I was so full that I could only eat half of the mashed potatoes & gravy (which are definitely worth the calories) and none of the spinach (which was so garlicky that many vampires died during its preparation). Perfect meal! The other main courses were the chicken breast, the full rack of baby back ribs and something called "if pigs could fly" platter - basically baby back ribs next to a mess of beautiful chicken wings. I love that! Everyone was so happy with the meal that we were waving the white flag. No need for dessert because we were all so damn full. The server was Charlie. He is an asset to Adam's Ribs. Friendly, very knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients and how everything is cooked. He worked his butt off to deliver great service fast and that he did, in spades. This guy truly must love what he is doing because he is so good at his job. Bravo to Charlie! Okay, so I am reviewing the place and I have to find something negative so say. The dining room is dated, a bit sparse and there is a smell that I don't like. Mostly, I think the smell is just old restaurant. But you get used to it and, once you do, you realize that Adam's Ribs is one of the few restaurants left that serves good quality, home cooked meals with regular old fashioned American ingredients! No pretense, no airs, just great solid food that fills you up every time! I would never let some little bitty old smell get in my way for one of the great meals that I will enjoy there in the future. I recommend that you go to Adam's Ribs and you better take all your friends. You will be VERY glad you did! read more

I've loved Adams for decades. Today I had a chance to compare with Mission BBQ, baby backs. I was actually shocked that Adams was not as tender as I remembered. I've been going to adams for many years,the last time we went the waitress was very quick and snippy. When she brought out our food,my partner got burnt ends which used to be great,not so much this time,there were more onions than meat and it was very watery,enough to spill onto my partners lap. She offered no apology. We are like I'm done with this place. Well just so happens we won a gift card and tried the carry out. So I went here for my first time with my family and wow this place really is great. We walked in and had a very warm greeting by leyah and I apologize if I got her name wrong but she was also our waitress and was fantastic. We started off with the onion loaf and that was really delicious, comes with a sauce that's like a ranch almost, very good. We also had to try the crab pretzel that was fabulous as well, then for the meal we had the full rack of ribs and pulled pork sandwich's. I've been going to Adam's for years and it's always solid. This is homey, delicious comfort food at its best. I especially love coming in the winter - it's a great spot for some delicious food while warming up with a brew. I've never had an issue with service. Some people like to use Yelp to complain about a single bad experience out of many good ones. I used to live around the corner and was here all the time and never had a problem. Don't sleep on the steaks. I would put them as better than most of the steakhouses around. read more

Barely edible food that took 45 minutes to serve. They then proceeded to over charge us by $25, claimed it was due to a "new system" and "dinner rush" as the manager phrased it (it was 8pm and 6 tables were full). They then charged $2 MORE for a meal than what the menu states, which includes two sides AND THEN proceeded to charge a la carte for the SAME SIDES that were INCLUDED in the meals they overcharged us for!! See receipt. When a restaurant manager rudely argues double charges and basic math and restaurant skills elude him, maybe it's time for that manager to look for a non customer and math facing career and for Adam's to make that happen sooner than later. Mac n cheese and potato salad tasted sour, not much seasoning. The crab cake along with the crab dip over pretzel seemed uncooked/mushy, and the pretzel was hard. Baked beans were good. It's disappointing because I've heard this is the place to go for ribs so I assumed everything else would be a compliment to them. They have the most amazing full rack of baby back ribs. I'd put them up against anyone. My favorite when I go there for sure. You won't be disappointed. They just fall off the bone. And the bbq sauce is killer. read more

I've always loved Adam's - I grew up eating in at the one in Annapolis, I go to the one all the time in Severna Park for lunch because it's by my office, and we've had them cater family events. My boyfriend and I were ordering take out/dining in at the Edgewater location every week up until 5 months ago. He had gotten violently ill from eating a super undercooked hamburger that we had ordered for take out and it was the only thing he had eaten that day, so we know that was it. We didn't stop going because he had gotten ill, we stopped going due to the lack of response from management when he contacted them about getting sick. He wrote an email, called but never received a call back, and even left a google review - no response. Shouldn't management take these types of concerns seriously? He doesn't ever want to go back because of the lack of concern from your staff...I some wings and a pulled pork sandwich, damn it! read more

My husband loved his Pork Bar-B-Q sandwich and double order of fries. He could not finish it all. My crab cake salad was generous, the blue cheese dressing was as good as I have ever had with huge chunks of blue cheese, plus they included feta cheese on my salad, everything a low carb dinner-patron could want. But I was disappointed in the crab cake. It included more filler than I would expect from any Maryland restaurant, let alone a restaurant in Edgewater. The service was attentive and our waitress was very understanding when we went to the parking lot briefly to complete my Maryland Yard Sale deal; we had explained that we would be gone briefly but were coming back. Do not get carry out here. Twice now I have been burned. Literally. First time was a burt to a black crisp rack of ribs, now it's two burnt burgers complete with burnt bacon and no lettuce, tomato or onion. They also forgot the sauce for the appetizer and the fries were ice cold. The best burger deal in Edgewater is Mondays at Adam's. The beef is fresh, the burger is thick... it must be a half pound and was grilled to medium rare perfection. A very large establishment with a nice sized dining room and an accommodating lounge with lots of tables and booths and a large centralized bar in the room. The menu offers a large selection and they will tell you that their specialty is ribs which are very good - the meat falls off the bone. Their fat boy mac and cheese side is tasty. Although they have some beers on tap they don't have enough for what I would consider a taphouse. The selection they do have has a good IPA variety some of them local. Was there for dinner with a group last evening. My first time trying this place. Three out of the six of us ordered the grilled prime rib. Everyone agreed that it was way too tough for prime rib. One person gave it up after one bite, and told the waitress who did not offer to replace it with a better cut, nor remove it from the bill. She did however; say she was "sorry".. so I guess that's all that matters right? I ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna which was like chewing on a pencil eraser.. In addition to it being terrible, my order came out about 20 mins later than the rest of the table, and on top of that the added Shrimp Skewer which cost $5.99 to add to your meal had three small shrimp wrapped in bacon, which came about 30 mins after everyone else's plates. The restaurant wasn't busy, and there's really no excuse for this sort of quality or service in today's market place. This area (Edgewater/Annapolis) is choc full of restaurants and there's plenty of other options that are great (I understand that Adams is a cornerstone in the community and has a cult following of older locals). Again this is my first time eating here so perhaps we just came on an off night, but given the option next time I'm in the area I will not be going back. read more

We are semi-regulars. Coming in every month and buying growlers all through Covid. Went in to grab a late lunch. We waited for bar seats and then the regulars said others had those seats. Decent food, super slow service. I felt bad for our waitress, who was responsible for a table of ten, and had to carry all the plates and everything quite a distance through the restaurant on her own. That might be why lunch here took approximately two hours on a Friday starting at 1:00PM. However, I was pleased with the restaurant being able to accommodate substitutions of fries and coleslaw for a healthier option of salad and beans to go alongside an already heavy lunch of pulled brisket sandwich. We were given cornbread to start as well, so this was a really intense lunch. The sandwich was pretty tasty, and the beans were a good side dish. The salad was totally boring, but most side salads are. Definitely be prepared to take a nap after eating here! read more

Not much of a trip from Bowie, why not try something new. APR decor is dated although well maintained. Everything reads of 70's/80's while the menu and growlers and wine list are very much today. The atmosphere is so confusing. The dated furniture, wood paneling and drop tile ceiling are unacceptable for a restaurant with such great food. The food! My ribs were perfectly cooked, tender with a nice crisp bark or bite. Sloane enjoyed her medium steak that was cooked properly and Bryce had honey bbq wings that were just fine. The sides of green beans, baked potato and wild rice were correctly seasoned and tasty as well. If I had to take a dig at the food i'd say things could have been a little hotter. Lastly I'm a stickler for service and it seems that the wait staff is an afterthought to APR. They service the tables just fine but added no value to the great food being served. So 5 stars for the food and 2 stars for decor and service and I offer a 3.5(4 on Yelp)rating over all. I see my return visits being through the carry out. read more

It makes me sad to write this review because I remember a day when I loved Adams... I can't imagine what people that think Adam's Ribs "ribs" these days are fantastic or even good normally eat! There was a time in the last century when Adams had good food. That time has long since gone. As an example, their ribs aren't smoked at all -- they are boiled and finished off on the grill with regular old Open Pit BBQ Sauce. The ribs are touch and chewy -- hardly quality BBQ. The last time we ate Adams, not a single food item tasted good. The ribs in the cryopacks at the grocery store are better than Adams. read more

I frequent Adam's at the Mayo location from time to time over the last 4 years for the great wings. They have some pretty good ribs as well and good variety of soup and other food. The special part of this place is the local feel of the restaurant and the real wood smoking of the meats. Food is a 4 if you get the ribs otherwise 3 Atmosphere is a 3 with a local bar feel. Adams has some really good points and some really bad ones. Pros: Food is usually well above average, the brisket sandwich, 1/4 chicken, ribs, and fish sandwich (when on special) are all very good. The service can be a little slow when they are busy but usually it is good. The atmosphere is very dated but still it has character. Carry out is a nice touch. Cons: The worst happy hour ever! Every restaurant from edgewater to annapolis does a better happy hour, they really need to step it up. The place smells about 25% of the time I go in, a mixture of old mop and bleach smell, if I smell it when I walk in I turn around and go elsewhere. The crowd seated at the bar is frequently the regulars and they are sometimes a bit dickish about you trying to slide in to get your drink from the bartender. They keep adding small kind of crappy TVs, they really need to put some money into a remodel of the bar and upgrade the A/V package. read more

My husband and I went here for dinner tonight. Honestly, our experience was just so-so. We started off with the crab pretzel, which was actually pretty good. Wasn't completely covered in cheese, so you could actually taste the crab. Took awhile for the waitress to come back and take our order (by then, the crab pretzel had already come out). This is not a fancy upscale place. In fact, the only things they have going for them is the best damn ribs in Annapolis at a reasonable price. Well, they also have friendly servers. That's it. Seriously, you will find ribs that separate sooo easily from the bone you don't need to use your fingers. The sides are also delicious and they don't skimp on portion size. Wife and I go, order a full rack platter, get two sides and two plates (no extra charge) and we leave full, satisfied, and happy, all for about $20 or so, including soft drinks. You just can't beat that. What makes Adam's a Naptown favorite is their method of smoking and cooking the ribs and their bbq sauce. Soooo good!! They have locations in Edgewater and Eastport: both with plenty of parking. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that lighting can be a little dim, and service can sometimes be a bit slow, and no white table cloths... you can't have everything. Not quite what to make of this place. I went when they were having a Wednesday special where they have 1986 prices or something like that. Due to that the food was super cheap. Cheap mediocre food is so much better than expensive mediocre food. I had the ribs and a side of fries and slaw. I don't eat slaw so I couldn't tell you much about it. It seemed on the 'wet' side of slaw if that means anything to you slaw eaters. The ribs were 'fine'. Not chewy as some reviewers mentioned. Mine were cooked pretty decent. You want them to stick to the bone as you pick it up but for the meat to come off easy when pulled/bitten into. The bone should be dry and clean as the meat comes off. They accomplished that. Now, was it smoked for hours and cared with attentiveness like each rack deserves? no. There was little smokiness to the taste. You can also get your ribs, 'well done' I think they called it. This essentially means, extra grilled until most of the surface is burnt. I would imagine it toughens the meat up and I can't imagine doing that to the flavor but 2 people in our party said they do it all the time. I am guessing they also order their rib-eye well done which makes them lucky I still talk to them. The sauces had a lot to be imagined. This was the most disappointing part for me. If you are going to be a BBQ place, you have to take pride in your sauce. I don't need more than 1, maybe 2 kinds, but they should taste like they didn't come out of a gallon bucket. Even if they do, add some spices and flavor for goodness sakes. All-in-all, since I paid less than $10 for my ribs it was 'okay'. Otherwise I might have been a bit pissed. read more

Adams just keeps getting better. I have been a patron since 1981 and the food, service continues to be excellent on a regular bases. Today Jace was our server and you could not have gotten better customer service in a 5 star restaurant.
