I was at a party recently and this is the food that was catered. There was quite the amazing spread, including a pig roast! String beans, loaded potatoes, and mac and cheese were the highlights without a doubt. That mac and cheese especially impressed me.... It was so creamy, flavorful, and the perfect texture. I'm ashamed to say that I kept coming back for that. But don't let that undermine how good everything else was. They have some really yummy barbecue sauces too. Of course I gravitate it towards one that was called 'Last Resort'... It was their hottest, and it was not thaaaat bad. Loved it on the meat and mac and cheese. Edgewater is lucky to have a place like this. When the guy first said they were on Central Avenue, I immediately thought you meant you're my parents and I was excited. It's expensive but sooooo worth it. We're from Georgia and thought we would be missing the southern barbecue. Not the case now the we found Bayside Bull. Tons of people raved about this place and it's all correct. If you like a little bread with the meat, that's the only way they do things. The Reuben is only here till St. Patrick's so we got two. Amazing! The pit beef is our go to and never disappoints. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and placed the order. By the time we got our drinks and sauces, everything was ready. We sat in the outdoor area where they have a few picnic tables. Overall, great food but pricey. Be prepared to spend about $40-$50 on two people. Excellent Pit Beef sandwich! I ordered it plain, and then used the to-go little cups to take a few of the different sauces available. The sandwich is delicious plain, and really doesn't need any of the sauces. The Mac-n-cheese was creamy, but I thought it lacked flavor. The potato salad and the coleslaw were average. The pit beef sandwich is the star of the show. Service is very fast! There are tables outside available, but I chose to take mine home to enjoy. Located on Rt 214 less than a mile west of Rt 2. Very clean and a like-new place. Employees were well-groomed, polite and efficient. Got a pit beef sandwich, rare, with raw onions. Got horseradish on the side. Horseradish was very sharp as you'd expect. The price was $11 something but $13 something with a coke. Ate out on the picnic tables outside next to some woods. Shade provided by a big billboard. Plenty of tables provided outside. I don't remember any indoor seating. Sandwich was five stars. Tender pink beef and moist. Sliced very thin. Nice portion. I think the beef could have used a touch more salt. There is no condiment bar that I remember seeing. I would have added a touch of salt to the beef. I also would have added some mayo to the bun. Maybe if I had asked for it? Ambiance was good with the woods, but there was a generator going in the back of the place. Traffic noise from Rt 214 can be heard but not horrible. The Yelp reviews have this place at 4.5 stars which is about right, I think, compared to some of the places closer to Baltimore. So if you're in the neighborhood and you're in the mood for Pit Beef, you definitely will want to check out Bayside Bull. read more

I'm normally a 5/5 for bayside bull everyday of the week, but today, the fries didn't seem fresh cut and there was less turkey than usual on my sandwich. Maybe they ran out of potatoes? I hope they still hand cut the fries. Turkey tasted great as usual. To correct some of the recent reviews: they do have picnic table outdoor seating and a decent sized toppings/fixings bar. It's right by where you pay. Not sure how you could miss it. read more

You might think any good pit beef in Maryland has to be found in or around Baltimore... that it's a closely guarded secret that doesn't travel throughout the state. You would be mistaken, and I hope you don't pass up Bayside Bull because of this line of reasoning! Because, it's GOOD! Better than good, honestly. The beef alone keeps me coming back, but I have to admit, the ham and turkey sandwiches are no less savory and delightful. Still, the beef is where it's at. Cons? Minor ones. They charge for raw onions on your sammich, and there isn't any dining space inside or out. It's pretty much a 100% takeaway spot (unless you eat in your car, of course!). That doesn't really take away from the experience, though. The fries are also a little pricey, but they are always made to order and very fresh! Always nicely salted too, as my experiences have gone. I can't stop myself from snagging a few out of the bag on the way home. (Heh, few... a few dozen maybe!) About the price, though. You get a TON of protein in your sandwich. So, a $10 entrée is really two meals, if you add a side of any kind. Shucks, two visits ago, I only got through the fries and had to save my sandwich for another day! They do give you a lot of fries for the cost. So, yeah, it's hard to find any flaws here, when you really think about it. The décor is fine, the service is usually great, and the food is exceptional. If you have read my prior review of this place, it will come as no surprise that Bayside Bull is one of my favorite places to eat! They simply KNOW how to cook meat. Lots of meat, luscious meat, juicy flavorful meat! It is perfect every time! We were celebrating our nephew and niece's birthday and we wanted the best so we returned to Bayside Bull. Rumor has it that a new owner has taken over but - THANK GOD - they have not messed with the recipe of its success. The meat was still perfect! I got the pulled pork that was lovely and flavorful in every bite. Moist beyond belief - it did not need any sauce on top of it! I do think the owners have improved on the recipes for the cole slaw (tangy and sweet) and the potato salad (just enough pickle relish to give it some good tang). In my prior visits, these side dishes were underwhelming; not so this time. The French fries were a huge hit. Crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy inside with LOTS of potato flavor. Delicious! We always get an extra order when doing pick-up so we can eat one on the way home! We were not disappointed! The service is fast and dependable - not friendly as in I really wish I could hang with these people - but polite and efficient and they're busy because anyone within a 25 mile radius stops by to get some good pit here. So, I cannot ding the rating on the service. Bottom line - Bayside Bull is a great place for beef or pork or turkey or whatever they have. I highly recommend this place!!! read more

My fiancé and I met some family here for an early lunch. Service was fast, we ordered at the counter and by the time I gathered my drink and condiments the food was ready. We opted to sit outside at one of the picnic tables around the side of the building. I got a pit turkey with and an order of fries. It was some of the best pit turkey I've ever had. Holy hell. I'm not sure how we missed this place before because my husband and I love BBQ in any form and fashion. This is easily the best I've had locally, hands down, no question. I had the Carolina pulled pork, great flavor moist with a heavy vinegar base but they don't put any 'Carolina flavored BBQ sauce' on your sandwich like lots of places. Sandwich was a decent price and the price blew me away. My husband got a pit beef sandwich and he's a huge fan of Canopy (from his younger years) and admitted that this was the best pit sandwich he's had in years. Wow what can I say, I was heading to a barbecue joint near Bayside Bull that happen to be closed. Having driven by Bayside Bull hundreds of times the parking lot has always been to full for me to pull in and give the food a try. But today for some reason they were plenty of parking spots. I went in to find the counter where you order and a very basic menu of no more than five items. Pit sandwiches are their specialty. I ordered a pit beef sandwich with onions and an order of french fries. The pit beef sandwich came out wrapped in aluminum foil piping hot with a great smoky flavor cooked medium rare. The fries on the other hand taste like most fresh cut fries. I have to say this might be one of the best beef sandwiches In the area. So next time I'm in the area I won't be going to the barbecue place I will be going to Bayside Bull for a pit beef sandwich. The atmosphere is friendly and a bit noisy, the fans mean the pit boss has to yell a bit to get your order. Good guys work here and they take good care of the customers. They serve a good pit beef sandwich, though it was a bit closer to medium than medium rare. I usually have it with onions then add a touch of BBQ sauce mixed with horseradish. (horseradish is from the cashier, BBQ sauce/ketchup is from the dispenser at the back of the store) This time I added a side of chili. The sandwich is tasty and has a good amount of beef, though it isn't overstuffed. I do wish it was a bit more on the rare side, check out the photo. The original BBQ sauce is a bit sweet but not bad at all. The chili is good - rich and tasty with a modest amount of beans. I've passed this place several times and finally had time to stop by. I was met with smiles and plenty of suggestions and even a few free samples to help me order. I ended up ordering this Italian sausage loaded with NC bbq and all the toppings...it was certainly sloppy and all over my beard but it was worth every penny. Menu is small and straight to the point...I wouldn't classify this place as your typical bbq place, it's a little out of the ordinary as they serve sliced meets and the minced bbq is more like a topping on top. I didn't really notice any indoor seating but there are a few ledges for those who want to eat fast and quick. Bayside Bull has been my go to place for Open Pit Beef Sandwiches for over 20 years. I have fond memories of the old trailer they used to be housed in. The Pit Beef and that is the only thing I get is always perfectly rare, the only addition I make is the horseradish. The beef is always juicy and no additional sauce is needed.
