So, they haven't been re-opened for too long. They were packed tonight so the service was slow, waited for 10 minutes for a menu in a "seat yourself" joint. Tried to order a combo plate and was told they "were too busy". That might need to change or put a disclaimer on the menu. For the goods, the food is just as good as it used to be at the old location and the prices are still reasonable. The decor is white walls with Greek art and some interesting decor option that they brought over from the d location.

    Pasticio

I had not gone to Chris Charcoal Pit since before it was destroyed by the tornado. Decide to try the New location. Ordered Pasticio which comes with a salad and pita bread. It was very dry, no flavor, very little meat and sauce. It was covered in oregano. Lots béchamel sauce. Not impressed. The previous Pasticio that was served when they were on West Street tasted like Pasticio this does not. I don't know what happened to the recipe. Also, you do not serve Pasticio with pita bread unless this is the new modern style.

    Gyros

I've heard good things about this place. It relocated to a new location in Edgewater , after a long absence in Annapolis because of destruction by tornado. My review is only based on my gyros sandwich. It may seem unfair and I agree. Here, gyros packs 2-3 times more meat than any other gyros from elsewhere. To me, it is more meat than I think necessary. Onion is chopped up too small to give texture to each bite. There was no lettuce. Instead, a few slices of cucumber were added. Tomato's was ripened and flavorful. Unfortunately, there was not enough sauce to last the entire sandwich. So, overall, the gyros was not what so expected. After taxes, my gyros sandwich alone was about $13.78. The gyros is nothing to write home about. I am not giving up on this joint just yet. I will try again and hopefully will give higher rating.

I went to Athens two months ago and a gyro from Chris' Charcoal Pit is better than any of the food I had there. Truly fantastic food.

I was finally in the area and got a chance to go in person and wow, the experience of eating the food fresh there was even better - although I must say this food does travel very well. I wish I caught the young man's name, who was the cashier, but he was great! He was very friendly, just seemed like a good, hardworking kid. I wanted a classic so I just got the gyro platter, the Greek fries and the soup. The soup is so good and reminds me of my favorite Greek place back home in chicago, I used to eat this type of soup every weekend with my family. Ingredients are fresh here and quality is always A1. The Greek fries are my favorite and a guilty pleasure. They are so flavorful and have the best texture. The gyro was also very filling and they really don't skimp out here with their toppings. I'm an extra sauce kinda gal and here, they really just go above and beyond without you ever needing to ask them. I wish I had a closer location in DC! Manifesting a central dc location soon! thanks to your staff for a wonderful meal!

The calamari was perfectly breaded and crispy. The hummus had a great blend of garlic, parsley, a bit of cayenne and red chili flakes with lemon and paprika. All these ingredients make a plain hummus extra tasty. Our two main entrees consisted of the broiled Atlantic salmon with asparagus and Greek potatoes and the Yero plate containing rotisserie beef and lamb slices serviced over pita, with tzatziki, and salad. The salmon was impressively at the perfect temperature. I thoroughly enjoyed my entire meal. The Yero plate had the best slices of beef and lamb. They were soft and absolutely well prepared. Our dinner was accompanied with two musicians who played lovely traditional Greek songs. The music was not too loud and we were able to have a nice conversation at our table. Service was a tad slow towards the end of our meal. We were seated in the basement and there was a time when not a single server was on the floor. Water service was lacking and odd -- we waited quite some time for a refill and when someone did come, only one of us got the refill when we both needed water! Still, I loved the food and atmosphere. Parking: Plenty in the back of the restaurant.

I think the server I spoke to was related to Jimmy and Bonnie Caiopolis who used to own JJ Muldoon's on Shady Grove Road. It was really nice to talk with the severing staff at this restaurant. They were all happy to be working and grateful to have a party to serve! It was truly a blessing to be in this atmosphere during a kickoff campaign for someone running such an important race in the state of Maryland! The ambience in the basement is fantastic! And the tent they put up was more than adequate for the subzero temperatures. I don't remember if I took the opportunity to eat any of the food that they prepared. But I assume based on the general ambience and the quality of the staff people working there that it was excellent! My only criticism of the restaurant is that it's very hard to identify where the front door is. More clear markings would be helpful to understand where you enter the facility. When you go to Constantine's Greek Taverna, walk up the hill and look for the entrance on the left at the corner of the building. It looks like an inconspicuous side door or porch door, but that's where you enter. I'm not sure about the handicap accessibility as I am not physically handicapped and to be honest, I forgot to check. Hopefully that is covered in the description here by the owners.
