Glad to see anew place to get some food in Lothian, the sandwich are fairly big almost 1/2 lb of meet in them. They're is also an area to sit down and eat.

Open Pit Beef. There's way more beef than it looks in the photo. Paper thin. Delicious.

Very good sandwiches and sides. The prices are also very reasonable and the helpings are large.

My sandwich (pit beef) was piled high, the roll was fresh, and all of the sauces are fun to try.

Some of the best tacos I've had since retiring from work in DC years ago! The place I used to go to closed during covid and I was disappointed it didn't make it. BUY today I got such a treat! The truck is always super clean and I'm thankful. The staff aren't the most friendly folks but they are professional and get the job done so I'm pleased with the timely service. I also got beef brisket and a dino rib which were also tasty but the tacos took the show today. Thank you DC! I have to go back and get more as the ones I had didn't all make it home to share. The smoked wings were fall off the bone tender but they could have used a little bit more seasoning. The brisket was equally tender: It was hard to pick it up without it falling apart. Really good brisket. Generous portions too. The barbecue sauce they use is mustard-based. A little different than what I'm used to but not bad. Definitely more tangy than I expected. The macaroni and cheese was decent but again, it was missing something. The candied sweet potatoes were really good... A little sweet to break up all of the savory. The restaurant itself is really nice looking inside. Lots of tables and even a bar top with a few chairs. They had that AC cranking in there, and it was comfortably cool inside. (It was very warm outside the day that I visited, so all of that cool air was very much welcome).

Smoked wings were A1, easily the best thing on the plate. Jerk wings were solid with good flavor. Fried wings were bland and needed seasoning. Fries were regular but very salty. Sweet potatoes were bad, tasted like heavy lemon concentrate and I had to throw them away. Mac and cheese had that roux base, good cheese flavor, and a creamy balance, best side for sure. Service/Timing: This is where it hurt. Food took an hour and 20 minutes. For wings and sides, that's excessive. No updates or anything that justified the wait. I'm assuming cooked to order, but sheesh. Value: $35 feels high, especially after waiting that long and not enjoying everything. Between the bland fried chicken, overly salty fries, and inedible yams, the consistency wasn't there.Price rating: 2 out of 5. Highlight: Smoked wings! Wrap-Up: The smoked wings and mac and cheese carried the meal, but the long wait and inconsistent sides made it hard to justify the price. At $35 and an hour plus wait, everything needs to hit.

The mac and cheese had ok flavor but didn't appear fresh as the cheese wasn't melted and hot. We also had the bossman which was ok as it lacked a little flavor. The chairs probably need to be replaced. They are quite wobbly and can be a liability. The service was excellent; very friendly and courteous staff.

Great First Visit to Sunderland's New BBQ Spot…read more We heard about the new BBQ restaurant in Sunderland (Calvert County) on Facebook Friday, but we were out of town for the weekend. On our way home Sunday, my wife and I decided to stop in and give it a try. I had seen posts online saying people were waiting in line, so we were curious. When we pulled up, there wasn't a line outside, but once inside, there were a few people ahead of us ordering and some waiting on their food. While we waited, we overheard them call out that they were out of "The Hardesty" - a buttermilk fried pork chop sandwich. It must be popular because it sounded really good! The menu is impressive for a new place--11 sandwich options including: Ole Boy - Pulled pork shoulder Bossman - Chopped brisket (what I ordered) Balmer - Sliced charred beef with Vidalia onions & horseradish cream Dixie Chick - Pulled chicken Hardesty - Buttermilk fried pork chop on artisan white bread with sriracha mayo Bourdain - Grilled mortadella with provolone & dijonaise on brioche Italian Stallion - Salami, mortadella, ham, provolone, cherry peppers, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, vinaigrette South Philly - Sliced ribeye with sautéed onions & provolone Chi Town - Braised ribeye with peppers, mushrooms, onions, provolone, sweet jalapeños, lettuce, tomato & vinaigrette Wrap & Roll - Crispy chicken Caesar wrap SBF Wings - Plain, mild, or hot Sides included boardwalk fries, potato salad, pasta salad, baked beans, coleslaw, kale, and a cucumber salad. My wife ordered the Italian Stallion and I went with the Bossman, plus a side of summer pasta salad to go. While we waited, we chatted with a woman putting out some condiments --turns out she was a family member and grabbing food. She mentioned everything is made to order and how proud they are of the quality. We didn't wait long for our food, although another woman we were talking with had ordered quite a bit earlier and was still waiting. Right before we left, someone announced they only had two orders of boardwalk fries left--they're definitely getting hit with a lot of traffic and selling out fast. A couple notes: it seemed like some sandwiches may have been pre-prepped because on ours the Bossman was marked with abbreviations on the wrapping. Also, my wife had asked for vinaigrette on the side for her sub, but it was already on it--not a big deal, just something for the staff to tighten up as they settle in. There are a few tables inside that you can dine in and eat if you choose. Dont know if they offer sit down service. As for the food: My Bossman sandwich was excellent--tender, flavorful brisket. The pasta salad wasn't my favorite and wasn't very cold when we got home, so I put it in the fridge--hoping I'll enjoy it more chilled. My wife really liked her Italian Stallion--lots of meat and great flavor. Overall, we were impressed. Definitely Outstanding above another mobile BBQ spot in the area. We'll absolutely be back--and next time, I hope to try that Hardesty sandwich before it sells out!

Taste like heaven. They come with no seasoning, or at least mine didn't. Just tasted smoked to perfection and made me want to squeal. Like a pig. But that's wrong. I don't know how anyone can not give this place a 5. I mean the ribs are better than 99% of BBQ joints. Along with the hot pretzel place (with the amazing shakes omg), this is easily the best thing inside this awesome Amish market. I don't get it, but alas. Not to mention the fact that, where else can I say, I just want to try "a rib" please (which I did the first time I went here), and they sell me a single solitary rib for a couple of dollars. At which point I fall in love and order a bunch more. Really lovely, friendly service. Very practical. Everything is weighed so you never get shorted. So you... You-dere.
