Wow what an amazing experience I had today for lunch! I was looking for a a good sushi spot and came across this place since it's near my hotel. I looked at the menu and decided to stop by for lunch because they had some lunch specials. What an amazing experience I spoke with the owner. She was so so nice. She made me feel so welcome from the minute. I sat down the vibe was so amazing. I ended up ordering a two roll special for $11.95 as well as the sashimi and sushi lunch special, which was about $18 the sushi was so fresh. The flavor was so delicious. I'm so thankful I decided to stop by here I highly recommend this place. The sushi is so good. The sashimi was amazing. The staff were so friendly the owner I really wish I caught her name but she was so so nice. A Hidden Gem for Wok & Sushi Lovers I stopped in on a whim and was genuinely impressed by how good this place is. The staff greeted me with warmth and made the entire experience feel welcoming and relaxed--like I was a regular from the start. The food? Absolutely solid. Fresh sushi, flavorful wok dishes, and everything came out hot, well-prepared, and at prices that make you do a double-take (in a good way). You can tell they care about quality without overcharging for it. Now, fair warning--the place has more surfboards than storage space, and some of that overflow has made its way into the dining area. But don't let that discourage you. The charm of this spot lies in its no-frills, laid-back vibe that matches the friendly, casual service perfectly. This place was definitely busy with to go orders and hardly anyone eating at the restaurant inside when we got there. We sat towards the back. It took a while to get drinks and orders placed. Multiple people were coming in and out for take out orders. I only saw the same woman running around trying to take care of everything. We ordered Tuna Tataki as a starter. My kiddo had white rice and some beef and veggies from my friends plate. I ordered the butterfly roll. Now the thing that probably bothered me the most, is that whatever sauce they used on my roll, had some kind of wasabi in it. This wasn't stated on the menu. I cannot do spicy and I didn't even want to eat my roll at that point. I tried dousing it in yum yum sauce to cover the wasabi, but it still cut through some. Please post that there is wasabi in a sauce you use for sushi rolls so people with gastrointestinal problems like me, don't have to suffer later. My kiddo used the restroom at some point. We saw the bottom of the door was broken. There was a sign posted but it was still off putting to have a broken door. We've ordered from here twice in the last week. That's how good it is. From a Chinese standpoint, my husband says it's one of the best he's ever had. His favorite is General Tso and he savored every bite each time. I got sushi the first time we ordered it and it was phenomenal. I've NEVER encountered a restaurant that does delivery and serves both Chinese and Japanese food. This was a big seller for us. I don't like Chinese and my husband loves it. The hibachi was def not the quality I was used to, which is why I knock off a star. Not worth the money. Good concept though. Will stick with the sushi and Chinese. My family and I just had the best experience at Sushi Wok. Christmas Eve is my twin daughters' birthday and we always find a Chinese restaurant to celebrate. We're so happy we found this one! We had a table of 10 and we all started off with hot tea. Susie took all of our orders and it came out within 10-15 minutes. We always eat family style so we can get a taste of each dish. Everything we ordered was delicious. My favorites were the Szechuan tofu and Hibachi chicken-they were so yummy! But everyone had a different favorite. Susie kept our drinks filled and was so nice and accommodating to our large family. We ended the dinner with little birthday green tea mochi-also delicious. Susie really made our dinner, though. She is so funny and should be a comedienne- what a fun dinner!! read more

First time I came here was a year ago. Had some chicken hibachi fried rice that was to die for. Went to this place again today and ordered the chicken hibachi fried rice and it didn't taste the same at all. Then...here's the kicker---I FOUND HAIR IN MY FRIED RICE! I've ordered here before because it's close to home and they deliver. The sushi is basic. Not bad but this last visit left a bad taste in my mouth. I waited over two hours for my food to be delivered and called multiple times. I was told My food would be delivered first but nope. I didn't even get the extra sauce I asked for. Despite the pretty awful reviews on this place, my roommate and I decided to take the plunge and order delivery. The prices aren't too bad. I ordered the "Salmon Special," which came with 3 piece of Salmon Sushi and 3 Pieces of Salmon Sashimi, and a Spicy salmon roll with a miso soup and a salad (which actually never came) for $18.95. The salmon was relatively fresh, and the miso soup was actually much better than I was expecting. My roommate ordered a few things from the "Chinese," menu including Wonton soup (which he wasn't too fond of), and 2 pork egg rolls which he actually couldn't finish (didn't care for them). They forgot my side salad but did include a "free," tempura roll which I did not care for at all. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations which were set pretty low for north side JAX delivery food. I will be ordering again. read more

I'm updating my post since the last visit a few months ago....recently, Susie has had a baby. That is great news and I wish them all the best. Bad news: when you walk into the restaurant, and it is a small restaurant, to the left is a makeshift 'playpen/changing station' where the baby's diaper is changed. When I came in to pick up an order, she was changing the baby's diaper with the toddler (who also wears a diaper) standing by. YUK!!!! NOT in a restaurant!!!!! A few minutes later, one of the drivers was sitting at the sushi bar with the toddler standing ON THE SUSHI BAR where your food would be placed.....YUK!!! WHERE IS PUBLIC HEALTH INSPECTORS WHEN YOU NEED THEM? Sorry, but I will now take my business elsewhere. =( read more

The sushi is just ok. They do offer a large variety Chinese menu, maybe if a next time arises I will try them out on that part of the menu. The delivery was fairly quick took about 30 mins even thou the lady on the phone said 45-50 mins. Suggestions- If you want to give it a try good luck. The young "girl" that answers your phone just cost you a long term customer. I called to place my order, this "girl" puts me on hold to talk to another employee. I heard their entire conversation. This apparently is more important than helping a customer. My food is delivered in a very timely manner as always. I ordered my food without veggies but it came with broccoli and onions in the chicken. This "girl" that answers the phone has the nerve to tell me with her attitude to bring my food back or bring it back the next day and they will replace it as long as none has been eaten. I picked the broccoli out, took 1 bite out of the rice and 1 bite out of the chicken. How else would I know it had onions in it. I paid for it to be delivered the way I ordered it not how you wanted to make it. I thought we were in the middle of a B-movie action movie being filmed in Japanese with us filling in the subtitles as the kitchen seemed to be raging while we were the earliest lunch entries today. I could tell the kitchen chefs weren't arguing about US Economic policy, but between that and the overly loud music providing an incentive to eat and leave quickly, I surmised the place could use moderate reforms from the supply side theory to improve its standing in the community. While the sushi was very fresh and cut well in proportion to the plate, it needed something....less bass..no, more sea bass, but less treble and bass. Something entertaining to taste was a deep-fried sushi roll, which I was not expecting, but it came out quite well. False advertising on window on prices! Not a good start. I see some same issues as written in review 3 yrs ago. I'm all for supporting small businesses but this place has too much going on that's wrong: Incorrect prices posted, unruly kids of the staff, slow service, and flies. Now for the bad parts. Jk. Upon walking to the door I noticed toys through the window which threw me off. After entered I was promptly greeted and asked if I was dining in or taking out. The place is about average for sushi/chinese place but nothing special caught my eye as far as decor. I was handed a menu (with stains) and immediately noticed a price difference than posted & started to walk out on that premise. Seeing a premium sushi roll included in the 2 roll lunch special price of $5.95 compelled me to stay; 3 rolls are $7.95 and 4 are $9.95. I took a seat at the end of the sushi bar and noticed a rack with cleaning supplies. Seated behind me were 2 toddlers (kids of the couple running the place) who were playing or listening to a loud app on a phone. I was given water and fried wonton strips with a sweet & sour sauce as I awaited my order: 1 Philly roll & 1 Sushi Wok roll (krab, avocado, cheese, deep fried). I was disturbed by having to fight a couple of aggressive flies while seated. The man of the couple/father of the kids was preparing the sushi orders. He first gave me the wrong order of a gentleman who had came in before me and the only other dine-in customer at that time. I received the philly roll first. Upon 1st taste something wasn't right...didn't know if it was the soy sauce or what but later determined that the cream cheese tasted like a smoked gouda.. not what I was expecting and threw my tastebuds off. So the philly was a lil subpar for me. Later I received the sushi wok roll which was pretty good. The couple/staff are very nice and friendly especially the lady. I noticed there were a number of repeat customers & call-in orders so it is a liked and frequented place. I may return in a "blue moon" but even then would likely be sushi takeout. Wasabi's is less than a mile away and much better all around for sushi. What's different about Sushi Wok is the very large menu selections for such a small place (Chinese & Japanese cuisine) and lower prices on a # of items. read more

No customer service. On the menu it clearly states a $10 minimum delivery order however for MY area (Dunn Ave) it's $30 minimum order. Literally called, gave my address and my order (over $10) and she said, " Oh no we don't deliver over there for little orders, I TOLD YOU THAT BEFORE" excuse me ??!??
