I just could not eat it. The egg roll was super salty and I love salt but it was over bearing. I have been a long time patron of this place but I will NEVER order from them again. I would be very, very careful paying online at this restaurant. We did so on Friday, with a brand new credit card that had only been used once, about 30 minutes before we placed our order, to buy airline tickets. A day later, my credit card company starts messaging me about fraudulent charges. Two charges were with local Jacksonville area businesses and the only people who had access to our card was New Dragon and I confirmed with them that they are the ones who get the payment information from the website and process the payments themselves. I called to try to make them aware and I was immediately rebuffed and rudely spoken to. The credit card company has been notified but, considering that the food itself it beyond lackluster, I'd recommend picking another place and saving yourself the potential hassle we're going through. read more

Let me be clear when I say Chinese food here in Jax vs back home is like Cinderella (my city) vs her ugly step sisters (Jacksonville). I came to spend time with a friend and we ordered from here per their request. I ordered Hunan Shrimp, lo mein and spring rolls and they ordered crab/cream cheese sushi and general tso chicken. I don't think many restaurants here know what hunan beef/shrimp really is but it doesn't consists of a melody of vegetables. This restaurant also added fermented black beans and the texture of randomly getting one in a bite threw me off every time. I will say that the flavor was good though, and those spring rolls were some of the best that I've ever had (and I always get spring rolls). The sushi was just alright it was imitation crab and cream cheese (nothing major). I would return here and try something else for sure. My coworkers place an order via phone and the older lady that work there is nice but has a very thick accent, so they had to repeat things several times. It was a Friday evening and they were slammed; phone ringing nonstop yet my ordered was ready in 7 mins. Well that's what they quoted me, but I think I went back in the restaurant after 10 mins. I ordered a small chicken fried rice, large house special lo mein, fried chicken wings, and wonton soup. The lo mein was very good. Fried rice it wasn't cooked properly (no wok hei) and was very bland. Do yourself a favor and don't get it. The wings were seasoned well be it's sooo greasy. I'm not sure about the soup. My daughter ate it and liked it. Previously I ordered a Hunan beef lunch special. It was decent, really can't beat it for the price of $5.75 which comes with a can of soda. If you pick up your order, you'll have to get one from the refrigerator located in the store. They won't get it ready for you, even if you already selected a soda option during the online order process. They do offer delivery service which is only $1, $10 order minimum. If you order in person, coupons are available in the back of the menu, just mention it to them and they'll apply the free item towards your order. Oh and the brown rice isn't the healthy type of rice I'm used to. Looks like it's white rice with a little of soy sauce for coloring, but none of the soy sauce flavoring. Love the food and the service here. We always call our order in and go pick it up, so we haven't used their delivery service. The food is always ready exactly on time. Once, we even walked in and ordered, and our food was ready within 10 minutes. My favourite is honey chicken, but I haven't gotten it from here b/c when I asked them about it the first time I ordered from here, they said they batter it the same way they do sweet and sour chicken and then pour the honey sauce over it. I hate honey chicken that is done that way. Anyway, I ordered the general chicken instead and asked for it mild and they were more than happy to prepare it that way for me (I just can't do spicy). It is some of the best general chicken I've ever had. Nice, thick pieces of chicken with a great flavour. The general chicken is what we order every time. The beef lomein is also very good and the hubby loves the egg rolls. The fried rice has a very plain taste which is the only complaint I really have and it's not really a complaint. It's ok, but I've definitely had better. The lady who works the counter and answers the phone is always smiling and so nice. I'd also like to mention that the time we walked in and placed our order it was only 5 minutes before their posted closing time. I really hate doing that to businesses, but we were out much later than we had planned and hadn't had dinner. The lady at the counter (I'm going to have to get her name one of these days) was so sweet. If I could give this 0 stars I would. This is by far the worst Chinese restaurant we have ever eaten from. The dumplings had WTF is this mystery meat inside them and they were not cooked properly. The fried rice was dry and old. The sesame "chicken" had no flavor and tasted like it had been made several hours ago. I have no idea where they got the meat there are a lot of lost pets around here.... and squirrels. I ordered sushi big mistake and it was the worst dried out sushi I've ever had. Too much old rice surrounding a dried up tiny piece of fish no avocado or cucumber in it. The "spicy" tuna just was a tiny piece of tuna with a smear of siracha on it. In my quest to find great quick Chinese take-out I tried this place for lunch after seeing the reviews on Yelp. I arrived around a lunch and warmly greeted by the two ladies behind t counter. I explained that I had never ordered here before and asked few questions. They ladies welcomed me and happily answered all of my question. I ordered my test dish of a lunch Chicken and Broccoli which comes with a soda. Order was prepared quickly. On to my rating scale of 1-10. The food was hot, broccoli was fresh and perfectly cooked. The sauce wanted to be a salty brown sauce but fell a bite short in flavor I had to add soy sauce. The rice was under cooked and had no flavor. If they amped up the flavors everything would be excellent. So my overall rating in 5.5. One reason for the 5.5 is that when you receive your dish it appears that you have a generous amount of Chicken and broccoli put all is not as it seems. That chicken and broccoli is sitting on more rice. Of course for lunch I don't expect a large portion if a dish but is rather not have sauce covered soggy rice either. Just add the extra rice to the rice section and forget the slight of hand trick! read more

This is great Chinese Food! Not sure why this place reflects "American", but it is Chinese. We thought it was very good. If fact, some of the best egg rolls we've had and we live in Hawaii with ample Chinese restaurants. I am not in agreement with other review that stated they were fast though. While on the phone I was put on hold twice and it took 45 minutes for the food to come. I am not complaining obviously since I am giving them 4 stars. I just want readers to know that it takes longer than you may think. But perhaps it is a sign they are in high demand too...because it is really good. The prices are decent as well. So, why the 4 stars and not 5? Oddly I was put off by how I was put on hold both times with no apology and considering we are in a hotel and that is where they delivered to...napkins would have been nice. We did appreciate the plates & forks though. I would have happily have given them a 4.5 if I could. Side note: This may be the norm around here...but I have never had Chinese delivered where I didn't automatically get a fortune cookie and had to order it. Bizarre! New Dragon has been our delivery Chinese food since they opened a couple years ago. The food is good, the delivery is quick and so far, everything has been just like we ordered. I do not know how they keep the food so hot, but it comes steamy. My husband gets the Hunan Beef (hot & spicy) and me and the kids usually get the Sweet & Sour chicken or pork. Well our normal Chinese takee outee has been going a little south lately. So I noticed this pace years ago and it just hasn't hit me right till tonight. I wanted some egg rolls so what the heck. The reviews were pretty good from a couple of old yelpers. Well how wrong could they be. In this case way wrong. The General Chicken wish is suppose to be hot or spicy was neither. The chicken was like warm at best and not a lick of spice. Then I went with lo mien noodles like I always go with. They were also very bland but they were a little closer to thermally hot. This rating is due to customer service and not due to the actual food. I placed an order at 6:56 pm online. The order didn't give me an ETA so about 30 minutes later (7:27pm) I called for an estimated status. I was told that they "just" ran out of ink and my order did not print and it would be an additional 40 minutes, and if I would still like the order? for an additional 30 minute delay that was the complete fault of their system, and no courtesy rush and/or credit. I told them to just go ahead and cancel. I live a 2 minute drive away, and to have to wait 40 minutes additional due to their error was unacceptable to me. I asked how could they have just ran out of ink if I waited 30 minutes to call, and was told the order was on the bosses phone, who at no time was even told or consulted about this error and issue. I should have just ordered Pizza to begin with. Maybe the food is good, but who knows, the customer service was terrible. read more
