The food was truly satisfying and filling, yet surprisingly light and not weighed down, making it perfect for enjoying multiple dishes without feeling overly stuffed. The ingredients tasted fresh and high quality, and you can tell they put care into each dish. The service was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcomed from start to finish. It's Sichuan style is a little different than most of the other places around us (Cantonese or Northern being more common) and that is what makes it stand out to me more. Today we were treated to bok choy, egg drop soup, chicken & cabbage dumplings and walnut shrimp. Every bite had a depth of flavor and tradition and was such a happy note. But honestly, you're just here for the food. The menu is packed with classic Sichuan dishes, and the flavors are bold and unapologetically spicy. You get that signature tingle from the Sichuan peppercorns the kind of heat that keeps you reaching back for more. Portions are generous and everything is made fresh to order. Initially, we ordered 11 dishes, and after we cleared nearly all of that, my wife wanted to order two more dishes, and the waitress looked a little surprise and asked if it was for here. The best Chinese food I've ever had and I feel like it's not even close! I can't even begin to describe how flavorful everything tastes. I've had the pleasure of trying to many items on the menu: pork buns, soup dumplings, regular dumplings, wontons, cucumber salad, so many of the chicken dishes and fried rice and noodles, even down to their green tea that had delicious undertone flavors of jasmine. Great place to go for authentic Sichuan food. Ordered the eggplant with ground pork and chonggoing spicy chicken. Both super flavorful and tasty! Lots of garlic flavor, which I love. A bit salty and that's to be expected. Not the healthiest but definitely worth it. FYI, they charge for rice which is odd and not usual for this type of meal. Truly the most authentic Chinese restaurant in town and it's unbelievably delicious! I love Sichuan cuisine, and this place never disappoints. They offer plenty of vegetable dishes that are great for vegetarians and vegans, and they're also very accommodating if you'd like to modify a dish to remove the meat. Don't miss the eggplant and green beans. A constructive criticism I do have is for an improved menu. Some things are mistranslated and it can be confusing. Let me start by saying yes, I recommend this restaurant. I also recommend that if you're going to order the kung pao chicken, you eat it on the toilet. Kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Everything was absolutely delicious. The issue with the kung pao was that there was so much oil, that it pooled on the bottom of the plate. I mopped as much as I could with a napkin, which was kinda of awful to see, but the taste of it was sooo good, mopping it up was worth it. My only "issue" was with the service. This young woman moved so incredibly slowly and was so apathetic that her arms fell to her sides like they were logs in between taking our orders. The Sichuan dumplings are also excellent, coming in a spicy (but not too spicy) chili oil. One of our favorite Chinese restaurants, we've been here several times and always leave full and satisfied--sometimes even with a to-go box, which is rare for us since we're both hearty eaters! Finally we made it to Sichuan Kitchen and I will say it really lived up to the hype. We came in for a early Sunday night dinner and had no issue getting a table. The waitress quickly got us menus and waters. They do not service beer, wine, or liquor so just a heads up there. We quickly looked over the menu and began to order way too much food. We went with the: Sichuan Dumplings General Tso's Chicken Beef Fried Noodles Chongoing Spicy Chicken Kung Pao Chicken To keep it simple everything was amazing best Chinese I have had in Jacksonville. My favorites were the Chongoing Spicy Chicken and the Kung Pao Chicken. Both were spicy but not overly spicy The Chongoing was crispy and full of Sichuan flavor. That of course makes sense because there were so many Sichuan Peppers that come with it. This is a dish that you will not find at your average Chinese Restaurant and I think the only in Jacksonville with it. or at least only in Jacksonville I have been to that has it. The Kung Pao was the best I have had in JAX. So much flavor and loaded with tender pieces of chicken. I also doesn't come with a brunch of veggies which is a big win for me. The Sichuan Dumplings were some of if not the best I have had in JAX. I could eat these all day and if you come you have to try them. They really reminded me of one of my favorite dumpling shops in Atlanta. The General Tso's Chicken and Beef Fried Noodles where also very good and had huge serving sizes, honestly everything thing here had huge serving. For sure a family style serving. My only complaint if I really had to pick one would be that I wise the Beef Fried Noodles had more beef but still the dish was huge and the beef there was very tender. Fabulous food. Clean dining area. Friendly service. There are number choices when it comes to Chinese restaurants, but so few of them take the time to fix quality food like Sichuan Kitchen. Since I am Native American and not Chinese, I cannot speak to the authenticity of the dishes, but in my mind they are truly authentic representations of Chinese dishes. But you want to know about the food, right? Okay, here we go: Beer- they do not have beer or wine, but on my next trip I want to ask if we can bring in wine and be charged a corkage fee. Egg Rolls - served hot, crisp outside, good. Orange Peel Chicken - think better than the Panda, love, love, LOVE this dish. Kung Pow Chicken - nice traditional dish, quite a spice kick. General Tso Chicken - good, but is very similar to orange peel chicken. Lamb with Scallions - this surprised me, the lamb is very tender and lean, very tasty. Mongolian Beef - another good dish, but I thought the lamb was much better. Fried Rice with Pineapple - mild fried rice, pineapple pieces, solid fried rice choice. I know, I said I liked most of the dishes but I really think they do Chinese food very well. Sichuan Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in Jacksonville. I am very happy that we have a restaurant in town that specializes in Sichuan cuisine. This is one of our routine go-to restaurant, and we have been there numerous times to dine in or take out. They specialize in Sichuan cuisine, so there are a few 'acquired taste' factors. For example, some may have mentioned, their food can get quite spicy. In addition, there is a 'numbing sensation' to some of the dishes. It may shock those that have not tried it, but others (like myself) who are addicted to this, it's the only restaurant in Jacksonville that I know of, that really does the job consistently. You can ask for the spice level to your taste. And avoid the spicy / numbing if you tell them you want it mild. If you do really like spicy food, maybe get them to make it how they typically would (normal spicy, if the dish indicates spiciness) and then judge/adjust the next time you go. My parents can no longer tolerate spicy food, but they still enjoy many dishes and just emphasizing on "no spicy". We have tried so many dishes here but here are some highlights: - Chongqing Spicy Chicken: Totally addicted to this dish. I ask for extra extra spicy. Small chicken pieces lightly battered/fried then stir fried in a sea of Sichuan pepper and peppercorn (for numbing). - Dry pots: On the menu, they are in the "Dry" section. These are 'dry wok or pot' with mixed vegetables and your choice of protein in a wok that comes with a little heating lamp underneath so the dish stays hot. I'd highly recommend giving this a try (dine in) especially if you like spicy dishes. We have had the beef and pork ribs and both were absolutely delicious. They can get quite spicy so make sure to adjust/order the spice level you want. - Ma Po Tofu (Braised bean curd with minced pork) and Kung Pan Chicken: I put these two dishes together because they are both quite common in Chinese restaurants, but here, they are not only very tasty. but with extra kick of that Sichuan peppercorn which you may not see in other Chinese restaurants in Jacksonville. - Chengdu Dan Dan Noodle (noodle mixed with minced meat, little broth) and Hand Torn Cabbage (large cabbage leaves cooked with sliced pork): These are two dishes my parents would always order as "no spicy" and still enjoy them because they are tasty either way, spicy or not.
