This was falsely advertised as a Thai restaurant and it definitely was not! The only Thai dishes they had were Pad Thai and 3 curry dishes. It was mainly sushi and hibachi. I ordered the Amazing Curry with chicken thinking it was like a Masaman curry based on the description but it wasn't even close to a good Thai curry. It was watered down and didn't have the deep flavor profiles that Masaman curries usually have. The chicken was pretty tender and juicy but didn't make up for the lack of flavor. I attended an event nearby and stopped in with friends for dinner. We were seated right away. Our server quickly brought everyone water, a complimentary small bowl of clear soup and a holiday roll (fried sushi). First of all I was highly impressed to receive anything complimentary in this day and age. And both items were tasty and helps kill my hunger pains. My friends ordered several appetizers. My two favorites were the taki ebi, grilled shrimp with teriyaki glaze, and the krab rangoon. The sauces were bursting with flavor too. For dinner, I had the tonkotsu ramen made with pork and chicken broth, and included pork chashu, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots (which I ommitted), green onion, fish cake, boiled egg and sesame seed. The ramen was hot and delicious. It hit a spot on a cold night. And bonus, I can only eat half so I had leftovers the next day. I stopped in to Wild Ginger recently with a few Yelp friends and really enjoyed it! The inside is small but pretty sleek and quite clean. Our server, Deanna, was friendly and funny! She stopped by quickly with complimentary clear soups AND a holiday roll. Both were great; the clear soup stuck out for having a flavorful broth. We grabbed a few appetizers: the agedashi tofu, yaki ebi, krab rangoon, and edamame. The edamame was standard (in a good way!), and the krab Rangoon was in the triangular shape and on the sweeter side -- I personally like that but know opinions can vary. The yaki ebi shrimp were cooked well, and the sauce they use is delicious. But it was the agedashi tofu that was the biggest highlight of the meal for me; the batter was delicious and crisp. For entrees, I went with a shrimp udon. It was tasty and simple with lots of bok choi, but I think I'd try something else next time just because of the breadth of interesting things on the menu. (One of my dining partners got a bowl of ramen that looked absolutely amazing.) Deanna also brought out complimentary fried Oreos for dessert, topped white whipped cream and sprinkles. It was cute and an unexpected pleasant surprise. I've spent enough time in the Midwest to have encountered fried Oreos before, and they do a solid job of them here. I'll be back! read more

First we will talk about our incredible server Morgan. She came to the table with a holiday roll, on the house with clear soup. She had so much energy, loves the food here and was very helpful with questions. The menu here is extensive but you can get almost any Asian food you desire. We started with a fire tuna roll. The slab or tuna was an inch thick. We like spicy and this hit the spot no Wasabi needed. I am mostly going to skip the salad except to say it was like any other Asian salad with ginger dressing. I had the yellow curry with beef. The best curry I have ever had. It was not soup consistency but meat and veggies served with sauce more like gravy than soup stock. This place had a grand opening sign on front. We came in and were seated right away. Our waitress - Morgan - was so friendly! She brought us a holiday Roll and soup as soon as we were seated. She stayed on top of drinks and checked in with us regularly. She was fast to check in and made sure anything I ordered was free of bell peppers. The holiday roll was great! A sweet treat of crab, cream cheese, and sauces. We got the Fire Tuna Roll to share. Man it was great!! The Tuna and avocado was so big and the sauce flavorful! I ordered the Hawaiian roll. Joined some friends for dinner on a very cold Monday night. As soon as we were seated, we got complimentary clear soup and tempura crab stick appetizer to welcome us! Perfect to warm us up! Yummmm. We started with some appetizers - krab rangoon (little bit of sweetness), yaki ebi (very flavorful), agedasi tofu, and edamame. Everything was delicious. As for the entree, I went with the steak and shrimp hibachi (of course, I always do). It was very flavorful! The meat and shrimp was almost overcooked (I just prefer medium steak rather than well done), but still good. It was a hearty serving. And the fried rice was delicious, I took the rest home. Yay! Haha. My friends enjoyed their dishes as well. I don't remember exactly what they got, but I think it was - shrimp udon, tonkatsu ramen (no bamboo), and a poke bowl. Everything was presented beautifully! I don't think I got a picture of everything, we were too hungry. But it was pretty! I really wanted to like this place. Service was friendly, and the complimentary appetizers are nice. The online menu says they have katsu, but it's not on the in-house menu, and the waitress had no idea what I was talking about. I ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura. There was a really nice selection of vegetables. My beef is with the shrimp, which was too skinny and tough, with way too much coating. The original concept of tempura was a very light batter. Nowadays, restaurants, at least in the US, seem to all serve it in this tick batter with a lot of crispy fried bits--panko, maybe? My husband suggested that they probably buy it pre-made, and I think he's right. Anyway, this is not authentic tempura, and aside from the lessened dining pleasure, it's much less healthy. read more

Whenever I visit a restaurant for the first time, I always start with the most basic items on the menu. If you can do the simple, then you can do the exotic. When we entered Wild Ginger, we were greeted pleasantly and shown to our table. During our drink order, Small cups of soup were placed before us along with a multi portion fried roll. This was done free of charge. I ordered an avocado salad and a sashimi appetizer. The avocado salad was fresh contained an entire avocado and served in a small bed of greens. There was a ginger dressing just on the grains and then a tangy creamy sauce for the avocados. It was presented in a very lovely and organized way. Next, I had the sashimi appetizer, a selection of four different kinds of fish, very fresh end of good quality, generously, sliced, and again the presentation was beautiful. The aesthetics of the restaurant are new modern Japanese and quite relaxing. My favorite part is it's a nice restaurant in easy walking distance of Neptune Beach. Highly recommended read more

When is a sushi restaurant not a sushi restaurant? Well, when it becomes another sushi restaurant. From the space formerly known as Sake House, and more recently known as an all-u-can eat sushi restaurant (yeah, you know how sometimes something is too good to be true? All-u-can eat sushi is one of those things) comes WILD GINGER! The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice. The new owners obviously put some money into the decor and it shows. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu is pretty diverse. Which is both a good thing and, well, an area of opportunity. First, they provide you with a bowl of soup and a fried sushi appetizer. I happen to like both but one or the other may not be to your taste. I do appreciate that they bring it out immediately. Next? The sushi. Like a LOT of other sushi restaurants, Wild Ginger has its share of speciality rolls. And also more traditional nigiri and sashimi. I found the fish to be exceptionally fresh and the rice was warm and sticky. Nothing makes sushi as bad as cold and hard rice. The bottom line is that Wild Ginger makes some good sushi. In addition, when I was younger I was told that part of the sushi experience is a visual one to go along with the taste. The sushi chefs here must have heard the same thing as the sushi comes out with pretty trees and lights and even some smoky effects! All nicely done and definitely adds to the experience. We also tried the Thai yellow curry and the tonkatsu ramen. The curry was pretty good. Better than what you could get at a Thai restaurant? Well, no, but it was decent and a good option for a non sushi eater. The ramen? Well, it just wasn't great. The broth was really bland, the chashu pork was tough and flavorless and the entire dish just didn't do it for me. There are also hibachi entrees and Chinese entrees (like General Tso's Chicken) on the menu. So really plenty of different items to try, I just don't know if they are as good as the sushi. The one miss aside, we really enjoyed Wild Ginger and will definitely go back for the sushi. And hopefully it stays around for a while. read more

They have some lunch specials that's why we came. We were trying to stay under 15 for lunch. My husband and I shared a meal. I thought it was very adequate portion. we got soup, salad, and dinner. It also came with a little sushi roll as an appetizer for free and a Oreo fried at the end. I wasn't a huge fan of the salad dressing. You don't really taste the ginger. This restaurant is in a small center next to a Dollar General. Have been here multiple times and I try different items each time. This time I went with sashimi and gyoza. A bonus small fried crab roll arrived first. Tasty. Next was clear broth with mushrooms. Also a nice start. Tuna tataki was nicely seared and presented. The salmon sashimi had a great texture and flavor. Was delicious. I like steamed gyoza and it came with a dipping sauce. I like this place. Not overly noisy and you can choose a booth or sushi bar. So many sushi places seem to do the bare minimum to put food on the plate. No art to the food at all and is disappointing. Wild Ginger has shredded daikon, roe and other decoration to enhance the presentation. They also offer some Thai dishes. Next time I'm trying the yellow curry.
