They cut the chicken into bite sized pieces and I have to say for the FIRST TIME EVER, there was no weird textures in a single bite of chicken. It was great quality! The only thing I'd say could be improved is the sauce. it was on the thicker, gloopier side but it still tasted fantastic! The crab rangoon is also great! Not a lot of crab flavor but I still enjoyed it. I felt it had more of savory and scallion flavor than some of the sweeter rangoons I've had at other places. I preferred these over the sweet ones. It's really a shame, but it appears that China99 has made some changes in the past few months. We ordered about $50 worth of food and it was a disappointment. Lo Mein that was just spaghetti noodles, soy sauce, and pieces of pork. Curry Beef and they forgot to give us the white rice. Because our meal was over $35, we got a complimentary menu item. We thought we were going to receive crispy fried shrimp, but instead they forgot it and gave us the shrimp from their Sweet & Sour Shrimp. Yeah, it's fairly new (opened within the last year), but I'll be damned, I saw my reflection in the floor! Wherever there's a Publix, there's a Chinese takeout joint nearby. After loading up the car with way too many groceries, we felt like we deserved a moderately decent Chinese takeout meal. As opposed to other comparable restaurants, they made our food to order. Eat fresh?! To me, there's nothing more satisfying than a combination plate packed tightly, with egg rolls and fortune cookies at the finish line. My mistress in life are in fact egg rolls, and these crisp delicacies hit the spot. The classic dish of Beef and Broccoli was full of flavors, without being oily are doused in soy. Fried Rice was very good, too. Don't expect a red carpet to be laid out when you walk in, but I guarantee you'll be surprised with your experience. Don't judge a book by its cover, folks. The " chicken" in their Kung Pao Chicken is not genuine chicken meat but rather some concoction that uses a gelatin type base with a breaded coat that I suspect is what holds the meat product intact. It may be a vegetable analog but it certainly isn't 100% Chicken. The chicken in my " Chicken Fried Rice" was as white as copy paper. Seriously as soon as the hurricane passed us and it was fairly safe to venture out... this is questionable since there were no street lights working, but without any electricity they opened up and got the woks fired up and cooked using flashlights to see! And they continued to cook until late into the evening in the dark until they ran out of food! There where huge lines and they just kept cranking out the food! Ok people, first off - no take out chinese place in the world is perfect. They've all got pretty rough customer service, questionable meats, and awkward phone interactions. That being said - this place is pretty stinking good. Phone conversations go smoothly, food is fast and hot, and the girl at the desk here is a total sweetheart. Honey chicken is delicious (get extra honey sauce). Teriyaki sticks are tasty - sometimes chewy and sometimes soft, but you never really know what meat it is. The dumplings are wicked tasty. Crab Rangoon sometimes are really fresh and other times freezer burned. Egg rolls are great but I can't easily identify any of the ingredients. This may seem "sketchy" and "disgusting" to some, but let's be honest - anybody getting take out chinese isn't highly concerned with the quality ingredients and health factor of their food. If you're a Chinese take out fan, this place is a home run. If you prefer your waiter have a hipster beard, say things like "confit" and "locally sourced", this ain't yo joint. I went here because it's a new little Chinese spot pretty close to where I live. They have lunch specials on Saturday which I thought was amazing because i hate not being able to take advantage of the smaller portions just because it's a weekend. It came with your choice of soup or a drink. We didn't want any soda, so we got the soup but all they had was wanton. Was taken here by a friend after I had did her hair and was pleasantly surprised. We called our order in because we did not want to wait crazy long. After the phone call I heard, I was worried she wouldn't get the order correct because of all the confusion with the number of egg rolls and such. When we got there, they were wrapping up our orders and she double checked to make sure she had heard correctly. I'm not sure of her name but I appreciate the fact that she was very kind and wanted to make sure we had everything. They have a deal going where if you purchase 20 or more of food you get a order of wonton or egg drop soup free so we chose the Cream Cheese Wontons which do not look or taste like what I am used to.
