The restaurant itself is spacious and they have a ton of booth seating. My friends and I tried this restaurant during the soft opening week, which was worth it. We paid the lunch price ($23.95) for the entire Dinner & Premium AYCE ($31.95). You're limited to two hours but don't worry as they dish out your orders in no time. We joined the waitlist online on the drive over and it was timed perfectly :) so the wait was not long at all. Otherwise the restaurant does not have a lot of space for waiting inside. On a cold or rainy day that's not ideal. Freshness of fish was acceptable but knife work obviously is not there. Some of the pieces were not cut properly. See the picture. The piece was supposed to be salmon belly. This part of the belly is not supposed to be used for sushi or sashimi, and the membrane was not removed. Came in here during a holiday and they said it was all day for their premium menu for $31.99. I was excited to try the sashimi. However, when the order came, the pieces were such a bad cut and incredibly small like end of the fish. Like 2 inches for each peice. I understand it's all you can eat but I felt that the quality was really lacking. They also only had 4 varieties of sashimi; salmon, seared salmon, tuna, seared tuna, yellow tail and a white fish. So pretty much only 4 types of fish. very small selection. We ordered a seared eel hand roll and it had a ton of rice in it. I was very excited to try this place! I have not been to an AYCE sushi place and I LOVE sushi! This place looked small entering in but they have a few more tables at the back so I'd say it's a medium size establishment. Sushi/Food: fresh! 9/10. We were impressed by the sushi. The miso soup was ok and the egg fried rice was pretty good (my bf assures he's had better -- it was relatively decent for him). Ambience: 8/10. Love the red booths! Food - Nigiri and sashimi were good but the selection is pretty small. The appetizers were okay but nothing remarkable. The rolls were a bit too saucy, almost nauseating to eat. If I were to go back I wouldn't order any rolls and just stick to the nigiri and sashimi. There were a lot of flies if you're seated by the door, many tried to land on our food and one or two were even successful on our lobster sushi bake which we had to give up eating. The chicken karage and the gyoza was pretty good. The service was fast in the beginning but as the place started to fill up, we ended up not receiving a lot of our orders of sashimi and by that time, our dining time limit of 2 hours had already ran up. AYCE sushi has been a bit of a miss in Seattle, and unfortunately Sushi%AYCE doesn't do so much to raise the bar. I came with my family on a Friday for lunch, and had no wait at all. The server that helped us was kind and able to easily explain the process of ordering sushi through the tablet and waiting 15 minutes between each order. My family and I paid about $32 each for the premium menu, which includes sashimi/hand rolls compared to the normal lunch menu. The food was pretty hit or miss in my opinion, the rolls were good - I enjoyed the 168 roll as well as the Melody roll. The handrolls were a bit inconsistent, we'd order multiple eel rolls and some would be drenched with sauce, or others would be missing things like cucumber or avocado. My biggest issue was with the size of the sashimi -- I was a bit turned off by the half cut pieces, but understand that since it's AYCE I can just order more. My biggest issue however, is the wait time for food. The restaurant wasn't very busy when my family and I came in, however it took a really long time for our food to arrive. We would receive a few items, and by the time our 15 minutes had gone through, we still didn't have at least half of the dishes ordered before we were able to order more food. There was one specific instance that bothered me, in which we ordered 4 handrolls - 2 had arrived at the table, and we saw 2 more were sitting on the counter waiting to be served. We watched our handrolls sit there for a good 10 minutes before someone finally brought them out to us, this was a bit disappointing to say the least. At the end of our meal, we were waiting on one last item; the torched sushi. The sushi never arrived and we got so tired of waiting we just decided to close out on our meal - as we looked at the kitchen, it seemed like it was never being worked on and that one item had been missed. I actually really liked the torched sushi so this was also really frustrating. I came here with two other friends on a Thursday weeknight and got seated quickly since there weren't too many people inside. There's a bunch of paper lanterns near the booth tables inside and the place is brightly lit. There seems to be another counter where some of the sushi is made, though I did see servers going up and down the stairs not too far from the tables. You get 3 rounds to order for your food, and there's a minimum 15 minute time limit between orders. Among the dishes we gotten were the dragon roll, sashimi salmon, dancing eel roll, sashimi seared salmon, Las Vegas roll, nigiri salmon belly, rainbow roll and double spicy roll. Everything tasted great and was fresh for the most part, though I did wish there was less rice on most if not all of the rolls we gotten, and larger slices of the sashimi we got as well. There's so many offerings on the menu (which you use an iPad to place your orders using), so I wasn't able to try everything I wanted to in the end even though we didn't use all our rounds. The restaurant also charges you if you have any leftovers (you can't take leftovers home as expected), so we tried our best to finish everything. Came here for dinner with a friend on a Saturday night around 7. We had to get in the waitlist but were seated within 10 mins. The place is pretty small. It's not fancy, pretty simple decor, but it was clean. You order your food via an I pad and we were able to order up to 15 items every 15 mins. Everything was fresh and delicious. We were super excited to see an AYCE sushi place finally open in Seattle and gave them a few weeks to work out kinks before visiting. The reviews were good and we were ready to grub. We had dinner here the other night and it definitely didn't meet our expectations. We've had much better experiences at other places. The restaurant is new, clean and service was good, but the sushi was disappointing. My biggest complaint is how much rice is used in the nigiri and aburi options. The fish to rice ratio was not it. Think a large ball of rice with a very thin slice of fish on top. The sashimi was a joke and the slices were all small and oddly shaped. The aburi sushi again had a large amount of rice with tempura in the center and a thin thin slice of salmon or tuna on top. The rolls were stuffed with lots of cucumber and avocado and basically had everything but fish. I couldn't even see the eel in my dragon roll, so it's kind of a waste. Saddened to see many people were unsatisfied with the new AYCE sushi restaurant in the CID (Post Soft-Opening), but I will be sharing my experiences of when I visited during their first day of opening on July 24th. My friend and I got seated right away as there was no wait during the time we came in the afternoon of soft opening day. Our waitress was friendly and told us there was three rounds and two rolls per person/round. So technically it wasn't full-on All You Can Eat, and we'd be capped at a total of 12 rolls total for the two of us. Can't really complain though since that was more than enough between us, and we gotten pretty full after round 2. The first round of rolls we ordered was Dragon Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and a Salmon Maki. My favourite of the four was definitely the Hawaiian roll, great taste and texture. Dragon roll was good too, but personally the texture wasn't enjoyable for me. Philly roll was basic but I liked it too. We also got edamame for starters which was nice, but I wish they added something like salt or spices to make it pop more. We got calamari between round 1 and 2 which was pretty decent, good with the aioli sauce. I forgot what other rolls we got after the first round, but most of them were salmon and they were all okay. For the quality and price that we got, I thought it was a pretty good deal if you go during lunch. We never experienced any long waits or anything like that for day one, it was actually pretty slow during that time. But I've seen on social media they got a whole lot busier. Soft opening July 24 - August 1 where the premium menu is being offered at the lunch price of $23.95 all day. Afterwards, dinner (premium menu) will be $31.95. Note that during this time hours may be inconsistent. While listed at 11 AM - 9 PM during soft opening, they had to close early at 7 PM on the second day and stopped taking names for the waitlist around 5 PM. I managed to join the waitlist at 4:30 and waited about 90 minutes before checking in, granted I was walking around with friends. I think many people join the waitlist and no-show which is also causing inconsistency so try to stay close or wait inside. I was seated quickly after sitting inside even without receiving a text message. Ultimately, happy to welcome Sushi% to Chinatown, nice to have an AYCE sushi spot closer to Seattle. At the current price point, value is hard to pass up and location is fair. Chinatown parking so mainly street or paid lots. I've been missing Bluefin for years so this is a great replacement. Service is a bit slow on the rolls but other items come out at a fair pace. Fish is a solid quality, I enjoyed the salmon offerings more than the tuna but for what it's worth, the tuna did sell out. By no means expect similar quality as other sushi spots but it is AYCE and a good experience. For every adult, you can order 2 rolls per round. No listed limit on other items, but we did find that they didn't honor larger requests for sashimi. For the purposes of documenting and just sharing opinion, I'll call out my more memorable items. Lots of rolls here include tempura shrimp and the tempura can add up so I'd be alert on that. Ichi Roll - there's crawfish on top which is unique but another interesting taste was the seaweed strips. Overall, a blend of flavors (savory, salty, and sweet from sauce) alongside balance of texture (crunchiness and softness). A unique roll that I'd recommend. 168 Roll - the better seared salmon roll. Avocado and crab inside is a standard combo that add fattiness while the seared salmon is smoky and rich. Combined, these complement each other. Sear Salmon Roll - another roll with tempura shrimp inside which felt pretty heavy but the seared salmon was wonderful. I'd opt for the sister roll, the 168 Roll, that replaces the shrimp with avocado. Salmon Belly Nigiri - love salmon belly for being fattier and more tender. Paired with cuts of salmon sashimi, there's a strong balance of flavor. Recommend ordering this on the nigiri side because salmon belly is not offered for sashimi cuts. Surimi Crab Bomb - for starters, we had no idea that surimi crab was simply imitation crab. This is a simple inarizushi where imitation crab and rice are stuffed into an inari fried tofu pouch. The tofu was flavorful but I'd skip the large amount of crab salad. Sashimi - all cuts tasted up to expectations. Fairly fresh and nice quality. They are cut smaller and each order is 3 pieces. Salmon and seared salmon are always wonderful. Tuna for those who can handle the fishy taste. Escolar mackerel is a fattier level up with more of a fishy taste. Vanilla Ice Cream - pretty sure this is Costco's French Vanilla but it really hits the spot after being fairly bloated. There's always room for dessert, after all. read more
