While in Seattle I was craving Inari - enter in Sushi Ave. I've regularly found it hard to find Inari on most sushi menus, so when I found Sushi Avenue on Doordash I decided to order from them. Our meal was ready and delivered quickly and I really enjoyed how flavorful the Inari and how fresh the avocado rolls were. The menu offers gluten free option for rolls. The rolls arrived containing tempura like batter/flour mixed in. My partner said that is definitely tempura flakes of some kind. I called the restaurant and the server told me they can't really make those gluten free and refused to give a refund. What the heck? You get a perfect 5 yelp stars. On our way to a Kraken game, and of course we are hungry. It's rainy, and what food options do we have, because everything inside Climate Pledge is too expensive (probably paying for the carbon credits for the pollution it creates), but alas, we want food. So according to help, there is a sushi shop nearby? This isn't a glamorous place, in fact it feels basic, as it should be. It's as utilitarian as you can have a place that will serve you solid sushi. Inside you have simple tables for groups of 2, 4, and maybe 6 at best. It's also at the bottom of a parking garage, so it feels like it, again, not a bad thing, don't expect Umi Sushi. The service, we have a young woman serving us, and she was lovely. She came by plenty of times but also left us alone to enjoy the food before the hockey game. The place is on the ground floor of an office building and very much so has cafeteria vibes, the servers are always nice, but the food overall is pretty meh. We're tried probably 5-6 different types of rolls here and they tend to be hit-or-miss. We went for lunch on Sunday after hiking the nearby beach trail. There was no wait to get a table and the food came out fast. We tried several different sushi rolls, miso, chirashi bowl, teriyaki salmon bowl. Everything was really fresh and reasonably priced. This place is a lovely hidden gem! It's on the edge of Queen Anne, and part of a larger office building. But do stop by! Small and unassuming, the food is solid and cheap, and service is attentive and quick. We ordered the cheesy mussels to share which were so fire. They came out hot and steamy, the cheese was all melted and gooey, and the mussels were meaty and sweet. I got an assortment of torch sushi. My favorite was the spicy tuna, but they were honestly all so good. I love that they add toppings and shrimp tempura inside of the rice to add some different textures. Saw a new sushi place in the area and we finally got around to trying it. Went on a Saturday night and there were a few people, but we were able to be seated right away. It's a cute little small café type feel. We first had a salmon skin salad that was kind of like an appetizer and on the house, which was ridiculously tasty. I don't know how they get that salmon so crispy. The Hawaiian roll was very unique from other sushi rolls that I've had before, but I really enjoyed the flavor combination! I also had some simple cucumber maki and a Philly roll. They brought us to Japanese cream puffs because they wanted to apologize for the long wait for food, however, it wasn't a long wait at all! Even though there was only one person I think in the back making sushi, we both thought service was relatively quick. Easy and cheap. Their menu is fun and their own. Everything about this place is what it is. You'll have to go in person to understand. From the off beat interior design to their choice of ingredients, even their portions and service. The I'm being generous with 4 stars, the food is 3 stars, but when you factor in the fact that their food is so darn affordable, I think people in the area will seriously appreciate having this spot in this location. All the other restaurants that have opened in this exact location have failed pretty bad, but in my opinion, this place just feels right. Gives me that, I'm on lunch break at my outskirts downtown water over looking job. Takes me back to those days. Let's get to the serious talk. Their interior is very boring, inconsistent, and probably left over from the last restaurant. I'm fine with that, seeing how they aren't presenting themselves as some fancy luxury sushi spot with high prices. To be honest I'd rather them focus on improving their offerings before investing time into looks. To be further honest, I hope find that sweet spot to get to a point where they do update the place. It will for sure attract more customers. Their menu selection was adequate. Nothing over the top, but for sure not boring. They have a many of the classics as well as their own signatures. One of their signatures is their torch sushi which wasn't anything like I imagined it would be based on the name. It's actually pretty cool and unique and not just regularly old seared nigiri. I ended up ordering a baked roll with pineapples and melted cheese on top. Very unique for Seattle, but I've had fun rolls like this in other states. I will add, there are a few other sushi spots in the area that also offer some sort of niche sushi so I can't say they have gone above and beyond. Their service is above average, but not over the top. Our server greeted us with kindness and check on us regularly. Their kitchen is not walled off so you can see the employees hard at work. Zero wondering, what's taking so long. They brought out each dish as it was completed. They even did something kind and fairly genius. They used the left over salmon from our order to prepare us a salmon skin salad as an appetizer for free. Even though they warned us the specific items we ordered would take a bit longer to took, they still took care of us. Huge bonus in my opinion. I could feel their concern for our well being and happiness. For the price point I was impressed in a few areas, yet still let down in areas that I feel like could have easily boost their food rating. For one, their wasabi was real and fresh. Most cheap spot have unacceptable wasabi that creeps me out, but they are not one of em. The fish they used was fresh and tender in a way I could eat all day. Their presentation was very beautiful and their sauces had great flavor. One thing that I personally think they could do to help would be to use more rice for their nigiri, like double or triple since rice is cheap. I also wished the seared salmon had sauce on it. There were other things my heart desired for 5 star sushi but at this price point they exceeded or met my expectations. read more

There are so many aspects to love about the food and service at Sushi Ave. The basic rolls are very fresh and well done. Portions are generous, which is nice when your hungry! the prices are great for Seattle. The service is smooth and timely. The ambiance was not inviting when viewing photos online, but better in person. that said, the ambiance is an area which could be improved, paint and plants? i took off one star because the signature rolls sometimes bordered on mushy. the torched sushi is yummy, so try one of those. read more

I was really excited to have a new sushi spot close to home. The place was empty when we went for dinner. There was a strong smell of fish in the restaurant, which we got used to in a bit, but I'm guessing that people who can't stand the smell of fish won't be happy. I'm guessing it's either because of the open kitchen or because of poor ventilation. The server was nice, but couldn't answer some of our questions. It also bothered me that the torch sushis in the menu did not have all the ingredients listed. We ordered a spicy killer roll, a hot volcano roll, and a combination of four torch sushis - spicy tuna, unagi, spicy salmon, and wasabi tuna. A few minutes after we had ordered, the waitress gave us a complimentary tuna skin salad (not sure of the name, can't find it in the menu) which was nice. All of the rolls had good fish, but lacked flavor even after having "hot" or "spicy" in the name. We needed generous amounts of wasabi with the rolls. The volcano roll was a surprise - it looked like a volcano, with erupting fish. Overall, it's a decent place with good prices. I hope they improve on some of the things mentioned here. Went for lunch at 2 pm. All the tables were dirty and not cleaned. The girl at the counter asked if we were eating inside or picking up, and when we said inside, she recommended we get it to go. We reiterated that we wanted to dine in. At that point, she sighed in Chinese, expressing extreme dissatisfaction with our choice. A very welcome addition to Lower Queen Anne. Working in the area, everyday sushi options that strike the right balance between quality and value are highly limited. They're still refreshing the interior but I can say that the quality of their fish is terrific. I'm a raw, plain salmon guy all day long. Had the sashimi lunch special and that hit the spot perfectly. Won't fill you up and leave you feeling bloated, but that's what Wingstop up the street is for :) Was greeted warmly by one of the owners and the staff, especially Kyle, were all friendly. We ordered the California crunch, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura maki rolls. Both were excellent! Fresh and tasty! The sushi rice was cooked perfectly. We also ordered the torched sushi bento box. It came with 8 torched box sushi pieces, seaweed salad, and edamame. Oh my! The torched sushi was delish!! There was two of the following: salmon, eel, white fish and another buttery fish!
