Brand new boba tea shop in Arcadia with fantastic drinks that can compete with any other store in LA. The owner, a kind and gracious lady, recommended their fruit tea and their matcha milk tea. The fruit tea here was probably one of the best fruit teas in the area because they use brewed tea as the base with its floral notes intermingling with the citrusy juices of orange and passion fruit; this pairs well with the agar boba. I only rated this 3 stars because of their use of fresh ingredients and the workers were reaaally nice! But unfortunately, my uji matcha strawberry latte was not so nice. Matcha strawberry lattes are my go-to boba order, so I was excited to try this one after seeing the 5 star rating in yelp. I got it at 25% sweetness with normal milk and boba, I always get low sweetness to appreciate the natural earthy taste of the matcha. At first it looked promising, but after mixing the drink as you're supposed to and actually trying the drink, I was EXTREMELY disappointed, because mu uji matcha strawberry did not taste like matcha OR strawberry. It was straight milk with a vague strawberry taste. It did NOT taste at all even remotely like matcha, and you could even see that the drink was only milk because it was off-white with a slight tinge of green, instead of a pleasant and solid pale green like matcha strawberry lattes usually are. I cannot emphasis enough how much this drink was only MILK. It did not get any better as I reached the bottom, either. Some positive points is the real, fresh ingredients, and the tapioca boba pearls themselves are pretty solid. The strawberry purée was fine but could be stronger I think, I could barely taste it. My friends got an uji matcha latte and the uji matcha mango latte, and they also said theirs tasted like just milk and no matcha, even though theirs was just the tiniest bit more green and matcha-y than mine. I'm not sure how the matcha lattes got such positive and rave reviews here in Yelp, but since the employees were so lovely and helpful, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that perhaps today was an off-day or our drinks were just messed up by mistake. I hope this is the case, because their drinks are a tad more expensive than their endless competition in the area; my uji matcha strawberry latte with boba was $8.21 including tax, which is generally around $1-2 higher than other places with the same (but better) drink. If I ever come again, maybe I'll try their non-matcha drinks and see if their better. But based on my own experience, for now I would NOT RECOMMEND their matcha drinks. read more

Delicious, fresh and amazing service! The owner was there to greet us when we walked in and explained how they're a small business using fresh ingredients. I don't try anything except for milk tea with boba at the big name boba places because I don't like the powder flavors they use. Since Sun Tea uses fresh ingredients, I figured I'll try something different and wow I wasn't disappointed! We tried the house fruit tea and strawberry green tea. A small group of us set out on a mission to find a new boba shop in the area. One member of the group suggested Sun Tea Day so off we went. We were very warmly welcomed when we walked in. The shop was completely empty, so we weren't sure if they were happy to see some customers or if they truly do greet every customer this way. Hopefully the later is true. It was exciting to see that they carried oat milk since two members of our group can't have dairy. A huge plus for Sun Tea! And yes, the milk tea was very good. Now for the not so good - their signature fruit tea and the watermelon tea. The taste of the fruit tea was really good! Unfortunately, it was filled with large uneatable seeds. The person in our group had to get some napkins to spit all the seeds out in. In each sip there were about 4-6 seeds. Getting extremely frustrated with this process, she ended up just throwing the drink away having only had about a 1/3 of it. The watermelon tea had a very strange taste to it, almost as if the watermelon was burnt. Obviously not the actual cause, but it is what it tasted like. This drink was also thrown away without being fully consumed. It is great to see a new shop in town, and it looks like a lot of people like it, which is great, but since we don't like throwing almost full drinks away, we won't be back. ** If you do order the fruit tea just be aware of the chocking hazard with the seeds (or possibly breaking a tooth biting down on one). Maybe see if they can make it without the seeds? read more
