I usually don't write reviews for boba shops, but my experience at AU 79 in Arcadia today was so exceptional that I had to stop and write one. I visited yesterday and ordered the Peach Green Tea -- and honestly, it was divine. The peach flavor was perfectly balanced with a strong, clean green tea base. These days, so many boba shops rely on artificial flavors and you can barely taste the tea, but yesterday's drink was perfection. It impressed me so much that I went back today just to get it again. Today's drink, however, tasted very different -- more floral and missing that strong green tea note I loved. I wasn't sure if it was the same drink, so I asked the staff. The store manager was incredibly kind and immediately offered to remake it. Even though the second cup still wasn't quite right, I appreciated the effort and decided to enjoy it on the patio. About ten minutes later, the manager came outside with another freshly made cup, asking if we could try it to see if it matched what we were expecting. And this time -- it was spot on. Exactly like yesterday's perfect version. I was honestly blown away by his dedication. He didn't have to go that far, but he cared enough to keep trying until it was right. That's the kind of customer service that stays with you. Yes, they could work on consistency, but the warm, welcoming attitude and genuine desire to make things right will absolutely keep me coming back. read more

I rarely give one star reviews and I'm writing this more because I want AU to improve. This is our go to spot for boba. Their drinks are awesome and boba on point. But but but, and this is unforgivable...how does a boba store run out of boba 1.5 hours+ before closing!?!? This is not the first time this has happened to us and it happens often. This most recent occurrence, we have learned and called ahead to verify that they had sufficient boba. We said we'd be there in around 10 minutes and was told it should be OK. Get there in 10 minutes, maybe less, head to the kiosk to order and what do I find, the regular boba option is greyed out. My friend asks the staff to reconfirm and they're like yup, we're out. We're like we just called! And they replied, did you reserve? The next batch of boba won't be done in like another hour... Which I don't believe. Really, you're going to have ample boba 30 minutes before closing time (with the possibility of it going to waste), but not now? This occurred at around 8:25 pm. So we left empty handed, boba cravings not satisfied. To conclude, AU, please please have your staff monitor boba levels better and on a consistent basis. This no boba issue happens way too much for it to be a coincidence. The day we visited, you close at 10:00 pm, no logic that you run out of boba at 8:25 pm. You're a boba store! Your competitor, Tea Station never has this problem. So guess where we went for our boba?... read more

One of the oldest tea shops in SGV. Sad to see the San Gabriel location closed but happy to see this location still standing. Its rare to find boba shops that deliver the "old-school" milk tea taste. Food came out of the kitchen, hot and fresh. We did go light on the salt and pepper seasoning, and it was just the right amount. The drinks were refreshing, drinks did have lower sugar, but it was still sweet enough to enjoy. Service was helpful, especially since this was our first time. I had a lot of questions about the various toppings that we were not used to. The staff welcomed us and made us feel like this would be a nice spot to hang out at. Inside was a little crowded because it is popular. I like how clean they kept the place. Unfortunately I wish they had more seating. Overall, it's worth a visit again. read more

I have been getting my boba fix here for at least the past 8 years and it is an absolute classic for the 626. Since high school, my go-to has been the Honey Green Milk Tea with boba. I'd recommend getting 50-75% sweetness since their drinks tend to run on the sweeter side. Through four years of college and now into my professional life, this drink has stayed consistently delicious, it's a classic I always come back to! Even through all my time here, my classic order when I'm hungry is there three item combo with popcorn chicken, tempura, and fish balls. They do take a bit longer to prepare the food (especially during rush hours and the weekends) but it has never failed to be a satisfying meal/snack that can be for yourself or to be shared among friends! The staff here have always been so helpful and kind. Before they added tablets they would always be sure to ask what sweetness and ice levels you prefer, something I greatly appreciate at tea shops since I always forget. Something cute that they recently had started doing is drawing on the cups with cute faces! Makes my drink feel very custom and like it was made with care. The inside has limited seating (can seat a max of party of 4), but they also have outdoor seating which is what I usually opt to do since California has such nice weather. It can get a bit loud inside since this is a popular spot, as I'd recommend this more as a quick stop to get your boba fix rather than a long study session spot. I love the passionfruit green tea with aloe, milk tea with boba and lychee jelly, and strawberry milk tea with boba! What's really great about this place is that their drinks have not declined in quality over the years I've been here. In fact, it's been only getting better. I used to feel kinda lukewarm about this place like 10 years ago but now, I absolutely love it. Years ago, the prices used to be high compared to other options around the area. Now, the prices are SO MUCH BETTER than anywhere else I go. I just ordered a LARGE drink with a FULL SERVING of topping, and it only cost me $6.05! At literally any other boba shop elsewhere, I'd be paying $8 for the same exact thing that probably wouldn't even taste as good. LITERALLY UNHEARD OF THESE DAYS! My only gripe is that the rewards system has changed, and we need to spend more to unlock smaller rewards. But, if that's what it takes to keep Au79 open for a long time, I'll gladly take it. Another unique thing I really love about Au79 is that we get the option to add on 1/2 servings or full servings of toppings. AND, they adjust the price too. It's $0.33 for a 1/2 serving, which is approximately the same amount of toppings you get elsewhere. If you love extra toppings, then the full serving size is for you, which is $0.66. This means that I can get a 1/2 serving of boba and 1/2 serving of lychee jelly for ONLY 66 CENTS. That's amazing! And I get more variety too. I don't have to pay the same flat rate for "less boba" as the next customer getting a regular amount of boba. Drinks are always made fast, as I almost never have to wait longer than 5-10 minutes. Ambiance can occasionally be louder as people are always going in and out, or the blender is turned on. But, there are 4 tables, window "bar" seating, outlets, free WiFi, and working bathrooms, making this a great study area. I've noticed that other customers usually don't stay too long at the tables. There's also plenty of outdoor seating available for customers, which they wipe down and put away each night. All in all, PLEASE continue to keep Au79 in business. With all the other locations that have shut down, this one HAS to stay open. This is one of the few boba stores that I still like to frequent. read more

Mango slush with rainbow jelly is my favorite drink at this place. The drink was very refreshing on a hot day. It was not too sweet with 100% sweetness, and the rainbow jelly is just a flavorful addition to the drink. Customer can place their own order on the monitor by the entrance. This store also offered loyalty program in point system, which loyal customers are able to receives perks. There are tables and chair inside and outside of the store for customers to use. Their prices for drinks are still reasonable with it totalling $11 for 2 large passion fruit green teas. One has boba and the other no toppings which is a pretty decent price these days. This particular time I went in, I had called beforehand and the person who answered was quick and efficient. My order was ready when I came to pick up and it was easy! It's pretty quiet in there and most of the inside is no longer seating like it used to be. I've only been in the daytime recently, but they have outdoor seating as well. My favorite drinks to get here is the passion fruit green tea or the honey green tea with egg pudding. During my most recent visit, I discovered they updated their menu and now have a new passion fruit green tea drink that is made with real passion fruit seeds. My favorites are the House Fruit Tea (especially because I get to eat the fruit at the end!), Black Beauty Milk Tea, and Peach Black Tea. The drinks taste clean -- no weird artificial creamers, sweeteners, or fillers. Prices are reasonable. Service is good. I sometimes add crispy chicken to my order. Quality control is good. The spice level is adjustable and well controlled. Spices are evenly distributed throughout the chicken. I like mine cooked extra crispy, and I've never gotten a soggy order or a batch that lacked freshness. As a bonus, I like gold, and Au (79 on the periodic table) is gold. I've been coming to AU for decades. We used to go to the one in San Gabriel late night also before they closed. I love the pink boba! It supposedly tastes the same but to me it feels a bit sweeter and chewier. I love the brick toast but I wish they offered it with ice cream Ike they used to but it's ok, you can always grab those single serving ice creams from Vons in the same lot. All the staff is super friendly and patient and I've never seen them flustered or upset during busy days. Not much seating inside but there are tables outside. We went on a Sunday evening (sun was still bright as ever) and ordered matcha milk tea (Splenda instead of sugar) and Hokkaido royal milk tea (regular sweet) and large popcorn chicken. They brought our order to us which I greatly appreciated and I am so happy they can modify sweetness with Splenda, not many places will do that for milk tea! They also drew a cute bunny on the lid of the drinks which made it cuter. Popcorn chicken was super hot and fresh and crispy. It didn't have any of the basil leaves like most places do, but I didn't ask for any spice and only salt and pepper, still very very good. Also it was a huge portion. Plenty of seating outdoors and limited seating indoors. It seems that the bathroom is for employees only but I t got clarification that you just need to let the staff know before using it! read more

Although the Arcadia location is a bit far, I still find myself making the drive for a refreshing passion fruit GT w/ pink boba. I love the sweet/sourness of the passion fruit and then their boba is also soft and chewy (The perfect texture). At this location, they have self-ordering kiosk and person-to-person ordering (if you plan on using a GC or Cash). The worker is hard-working and polite! I like how she personalizes the lid of my drink with a little bunny every time I visit! The location is clean with several tables. They use to have a booth seating section, but it's been closed since covid. It's a great spot to sit down and get some work done, as it's never too loud despite the large amount of foot traffic. The kitchen and bathroom was closed at 8pm. I ordered the high mountain milk tea with boba. My lid had a cute bear drawn on it which was a cute surprise. The boba was cooked well which was where the positives ended for my drink. There wasn't much tea flavor at all and it seemed as if I was drinking 16oz of non dairy creamer with my boba. I would say the drinks are on the sweeter side. I also appreciate that you can split a drink for 50 cents. Overall, it always hurts to pay nearly $7 for watery, sweetened non dairy creamer. The closure of the kitchen was unexpected but the restroom closure so early was a huge inconvenience for spot known for drinks and hanging out. With so many other boba shops around, this is not on my list of boba spots I'd recommend to anyone. read more

There are tables outside in front of the store which is great for those late night hangouts. I always get the same drinks there and the consistency is the same. My go to drinks are the oolong milk tea and passion fruit green tea. Don't forget to add the pink boba, it's aesthetically cute and it's chewy. In comparison to other places, it's on the sweeter side, so I wish I had gotten 25% Sweetness, The Guava flavor was pretty spot on, & my only note is that I wish more of the tea notes came through.
