Been coming here for years! It always hits the spot. They do a nice job of keeping the food area clean and organized. It is a little pricy in my opinion, $18. There bowls are tiny which makes it hard to pack with toppings. You have to ask for napkins, too.

Me and my wife always stop here when out in concord. They have a big bowl option and that's great. I do the big bowl with extra noodles. It's so good and enough food for lunch and more left for dinner

Okayyy queens now sun gate bbq is in the chopping block let's get this review started. Okay so the Dendingers have been trying new things this year. Now we have decided to try sun gate bbq and to be honest this did not disappoint. When I say wow I mean waaaooooowwww. Let's talk about the service it was amazing the lady helping us out was very nice and explained to us what options we had for food for $14 you decided if you want beef or chicken or pork and they pick your veggies. But for $4 more dollars you get to choose your meat and veggies and how much of it you put in it. So yes we decided to go for the $18 one. Now the place was very clean and they had lots of seating so if you wanted to enjoy your meal with a large family there is a lot of room. I when with chicken, tofu, carrots, onions double noodles garlic and extra sauce. For $18 you can't beat that price specially if you have left overs for lunch tomorrow. Wife went with beef, chicken, carrots, broccoli, extra garlic, extra noodles and extra sauce. Son went with beef carrots cucumbers and regular noodles. For all this we paid $80 with 4 drinks and we still had lots of left overs.

this place was fireee, def going back soon. It was my very first time after passing it so many years and no kap it's shmack Beef Choice

Delicious ! And clean first time trying the place and it was so delicious , fast and hot

The worker that needs to be fired
    Joanna C.

**** FIRE THIS WORKER **** Please see pics attached of this man so you can be aware of who he is. Me and my family have been coming here for about 20 years now. By far this man seen in the picture needs to be fired or investigated immediately by the owners. He is very rude and arrogant and discriminated against my child who is Autistic. This isn't the first time we have encounter this type of behavior from this worker. We paid $18 per plate and I kindly asked if he could pls separate my child's plate while cooking on the grill from other peoples food cooking due to my son not liking other peoples sauces and meats touching his food. Plus my child cannot eat any type of meat. Never had an issue with the other workers who kindly comply with our request cleaning the grill throughout the years. This man in the picture disregarded our request to clean the grill (I told him I would wait patiently wait) and he proceeded to cook my child's food not cleaning the grill like requested and throwing his bowl of food ontop of a grill that had a whole bunch of beef sauces and pieces of cooked meat stuck to it. When asked why did he do that? he looked at me and sarcastically told me that's how it is!! And slammed the plate in my hand while laughing. He did not let me talk to him, he told me to eat it or throw it away. Under his voice he stated "you don't need to come back then" Excuse me?!!!! I am sorry but this worker needs to be fired. Customers can die over his stupidity. People have allergic reactions to things and when requested to clean a grill or not cook the food near others food too closely he should not have an issue with it. Never in 20 years going here have I ever had an issue from the other workers. They kindly clean the grill for my son and go with our requests. My son refused to eat his plate because it had pieces of beef stuck to all the noodles which he cannot eat and is allergic if the grill isn't cleaned. Horrible experience. We threw all the plates away after paying $18 per plate. Word of mouth goes a long way. I will be letting everyone I know about what happened and I will post his pics on every community page so people can be aware and not go to this place anymore. This man's actions could have caused serious harm with my child's health.

Preset choice plate BEEF, where they do everything for you. $14. Tax & beverage not included.

Ahh, Mongolian BBQ, an all-time dietary weakness of mine. Sun Gate's been through a few ownership & name changes through the years. But, it still occupies the same spot on the 2nd level of the venerated Sun Valley Mall, next to JC Penny. I had this place on my radar awhile, finally making it in. Ratings had me quizzical with various gripes throughout the threads. Looks like I hit the spot at just the right time--11am--where the scene isn't quite as chaotic yet with hungry lunchtime patrons salivating for their scrumptious stir fry. Here's the deal (literally): For $14, you can select your protein. This option, they do everything for you with preset-measured ingredients (including the protein). It's a real handy, quicker option. And the portion size with this choice is pretty hefty, even for a big guy like me. Perfect size (see photo). For $18, they give you your own bowl (kinda small bowls truthfully) and you build your own. It's not AYCE (all you can eat) either, just 1 pass through the line. This might work best if there's certain veggies that you wouldn't want with the preset option, or if you just prefer making your own bowl. And yes, if you know the secrets to packing the bowl (without breaking it, lol), you can probably get at least 25% more food than the preset option I'm guessing. Essentially 2 meals. $18 is kinda steep though in my book, breaking the price ceiling of any other Mongolian spot I've ever been to for non-AYCE. Either choice is without tax, drink or (optional) tip for the fry cook. So, you're gonna blow up most of a $20 bill or more no matter. My food came out piping hot from the grill and tasted great. Maybe not an everday indulgence, but a great occasional treat.

Thank you for showing me what a horrible Mongolian grill establishment looks like. They don't let you pick your own veggies. Everything is pre packaged. They don't have sauces or flavors for you to add to your food like normal. Shrimp was old and disgusting. You guys should be ashamed of running this! Will never return.

    Kawehionapua Y.

They definitely raised the prices and provide smaller bowls than when they first opened, but hey, the food is still good. They don't always have the same produce, there's a "seasonal section" which is okay. My son loves this place because of the noodles so we continue to come here if we're ever at the mall. Even if the price came up, the food is still very tasty. Get the "Best Choice" for extra noodles.

    Vegetables and Noodles

We have been eating here for quite a few years. Regrettably I will longer eat here anymore. The amount of vegetables is very poor. All you see are carrots and a 4 pieces of broccoli. Flavor is good. It's only teriyaki. If you don't like vegetables this might be a good place for you.

This is a restaurant where the menu doesn't just list dishes...it teaches you something. The moment you open the menu, you know you're in the right place. The Cold Plate (冷盤) section alone reads like a passport stamp to Chengdu: BEEF TRIPE & BEEF FLAKE (夫妻肺片) - tender, numbing, and electric with Sichuan peppercorns. If you know, you know. Sliced Pork with Spicy Garlic (蒜泥白肉) - silky, rich, and packed with real chili heat. North Sichuan Green Pea Jelly (川北冷粉) - hot, sour, spicy, and addictive. Spicy Pig Ear (紅油豬耳) - crunchy, aromatic, and perfectly done. Jellyfish Salad (葱油海蜇) - refreshing, light, and authentically seasoned. These aren't "safe choices for the American palate." These are dishes straight from the Sichuan playbook, and they are done properly. And then the entrées -- highlights worth calling out: Sichuan Tea-Smoked Duck (香辣樟茶鴨) - smoky, spicy, fragrant; a dish you don't see done right very often. They nail it. Boiled Fish Fillet in Chili Oil (水煮魚片) - a must-order for anyone who really understands Sichuan cuisine. Beautiful heat and numbing balance. Cumin Beef or Lamb (孜然牛/羊肉) - bold, aromatic, and cooked with confidence. Dry-Fried Green Beans (干扁四季豆) - textbook execution. This was comfort in a bowl. The entree was delicious. The fried fish was hot off the wok when it arrived, steaming on the plate along with fried rice, broccoli, an egg roll, and some sweet and sour sauce. I enjoyed the fish; the heat of the jalapeno slices and the salt elevated the light crispiness and mild sweetness of the fish. The fried rice was light and fluffy with bits of egg.
