While I still stand by what I wrote about coming here for weekend lunch and how hectic it can get, I think the food they offer on weekends is much better than what they serve during weekday lunch. I'm still generally not a big fan of visiting on weekends though. Because the place gets so crowded, you sometimes have to wait a while for certain items to be replenished. But my favorite food that they serve only on the weekend (or dinner) are the Steamed Oysters served in their gigantic shells, which look absolutely impressive, and the Grilled Sweet Shrimp. The Sweet Shrimp reminds me of Tiger Prawns, just much much bigger, and they taste amazing. They're incredibly juicy, and the meat is so tender too. They also offer sashimi on the weekends, although it's limited to Salmon and Tuna. Other than those though, the rest of the food is pretty much the same as the weekday lunch menu. I'm really glad to see they're doing so well. The place was packed when we came here for lunch yesterday. The service was fast and spot on as always. The servers were constantly making their rounds and clearing dirty plates from the tables as soon as they saw them. Great service. 3 stars means OK, which is exactly what I think of FB. While the choices are many, the quality is mediocre. Not a single thing stood out to me as delicious. I found the people at the entry-pay-station impossible to understand. They talked so fast I couldn't understand anything they were saying, and they also talked as if everything they were saying the customer already knew. That may be true for repeat customers but as a first-time customer, I had no idea what they were talking about. The place is attractive and there is plenty of parking, which are pluses. I have never been a huge fan of buffets but my parents are big fans, spent Mother's Day this year at Fusion in Concord. The line almost reached BJ's but we waited for less than 10 minutes to check in. The service at the front is quick and it's easy to sign up. I asked my buddy if he was down with some Asian buffet and he was all in. We arrived and let the hostesses know we were there to eat. Interesting note, you pay at the beginning. Great idea, this way when you are done you can leave without having to wait for the check. FB has a great selection of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and American (mostly dessert) dishes. Once we got sat it was time for Round 1. I like to walk the aisles to get a sense of the offerings. With FB there was alot. I immediately went with some dumplings, skewers and egg rolls. For Round 2, beef ribs (nice), stir-fried veggies and fried rice. For Round 3, more ribs, kung pao chicken, pork buns and fried shrimp. For Round 4, a few more dumplings, bbq pork and a little more fried rice. It was as that point I was almost ready to hang up the gloves. But, they had red Jello. Of course, I had to balance it out with some fresh cut oranges. Oh, yeah. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. These folks do a fantastic job with buffet. After the transaction was completed, one of the staff seated us at a booth. The interior was spacious and clean, but the booth we were in was kind of tight. If I was 20 lbs heavier, I would have trouble getting in and out. Their buffet featured the usual fare - sushi, cooked seafood, Chinese dishes, dim sum, Mongolian BBQ, American food, soups and salad, desserts, etc. I tried many items and thought the overall quality range from average to decent. The Chinese dishes were probably the best part. Options were plentiful and tasted like they were freshly made. The cooked seafood section had clams, crayfish, shrimp, fried and steamed fish, squid, etc. I tried some of them and they were so-so. The sushi selection was limited to low-end rolls and nigiris. I would like to point out what they failed in. It was one of the best Asian buffet when they first opened, but they have fallen quite far away from when they first started... $31 per person. They used to have huge prawns, fresh oysters, and decent quality sushi. Rest of their food was decent, drinks included. Today: - prawns- tasted muddy, mushy and dry, had something's that tasted and textured like sand in most of them. - oysters were either undercooked or overcooked with poor taste and quality. - sushi's were worse than Safeway quality... actually Safeway sushi is far better than these guys - fried prawns were mushy - ribs has too much of tenderizer, and Chinese herb taste - rest of the food were sub- par at best... I would compare the quality of their food on par with China wall buffet... except China wall is much cheaper. No large prawns. I understand cutting cost, but the taste and how they cooked them is the issue. If they want to cut corners like this, they should just get rid of the dishes like the large prawns, and lower their price to compete with places like China wall, not $31 per person. I wanted to start by saying we were really looking forward to this outing. It was a birthday celebration for three friends of over 30 years, all turning 50, so we wanted the night to feel special. Unfortunately, the experience became disappointing because of the customer service. Our party waited over 15 minutes after staff claimed they called us, but they had mispronounced my friend's name. We were sitting right outside and got up as quickly as possible once we realized they meant us. When we went inside, we were told we would have to start the process over because they had already called the name. After my friend explained the situation, they finally agreed to seat us. About 10 minutes after being seated, we were then asked to move because another party had requested a booth. That was embarrassing and honestly felt very tacky, especially during a birthday celebration. The food was okay, but there were also cleanliness and safety concerns. The ice machine constantly threw ice onto the floor, and the greasy floors caused me to almost fall more than once. We also noticed dishes stacked together that were still dirty or only partially cleaned. What really made the experience disappointing was seeing staff enforce the time limit on our table while other groups who arrived around the same time were allowed to stay without issue. We left feeling sad more than anything. I don't typically do buffets -- too many options and my brain gets overwhelmed -- but my elderly parents (mid-70s) wanted to come here, so here we are. It was my first time, as well as for most of our group. First impression wasn't great. Thankfully, they were able to reseat us inside within about five minutes, but it was a rough start. Inside, the walkways between tables are tight. I found myself watching people twist sideways or suck in their gut while carrying full plates -- definitely something to be mindful of. Now, onto the buffet experience. It's... chaotic. There's no real flow or line system -- just grab a plate and jump in. Offerings lean heavily Asian-inspired (sushi, Chinese dishes, Mongolian BBQ, seafood), with some American options like pizza and fries, plus salad, fruit, and dessert stations. Round 1: I went straight for the sushi and salmon sashimi. The rolls were pretty standard -- nothing memorable. The yellow one had that familiar "Asian candy mystery fruit" vibe -- not sure what it was supposed to be, but it had the most flavor and was my favorite of the desserts. One standout? The busser. He was hustling -- clearing plates quickly both inside and on the patio, always with a smile. I appreciated how hard he was working and made sure to tip him, especially since I didn't see many others doing so. Would I come back? Probably not voluntarily.
