So yesterday my brother and I finally tried the dinner menu at Fuji Sushi Buffet for the very first time. We'd always only gone for their lunch menu before, but we were really craving sushi and sashimi last night, so we thought Fuji would be the best place to go since we were starving!! We noticed that the dinner menu wasn't that much different from the lunch. Seems like only a handful of items are added, so we still made sure to try some of those dinner-only items. One was the Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab, and it was absolutely delicious! The whole thing was edible, so there was no need to de-shell the crab, and the tempura batter was nice and crispy. The crab also didn't taste fishy at all. I also liked that they served it with a tempura dipping sauce on the side because it helped refresh the dish and cut back on the greasiness a little bit. Another thing I was really super curious to try was the Smoked Salmon. I did order it, but I think the guy working at the sashimi section misheard me and ended up giving me regular salmon instead - boo! I wanted to go back and order more later, but by that point I was already really full, so I decided not to be greedy. Other than that, everything else was pretty much the same as the lunch offerings. In general, my brother and I really like this place. It's definitely our go-to spot when it comes to all you can eat sushi and sashimi. My brother and I love getting a huge plate of sashimi with a variety of fish like Salmon, Yellowtail, Mackerel, and even Unagi too. I also love how quick the service was, and they impose no limitation on how many times we can order or how many items we can get each round. We just feel really comfortable eating here. Honestly this is best ayce sushi I've been too and find myself coming back often! I love sushi and have been to a number of other ayce sushi places and tbh, none of them compare to Fuji when it comes to both price, quality, and consistency. For the price, it's very affordable as you pay a flat price and can order everything off the menu. There's no extra charge for sashimi either which I found that all other ayce sushi places do and even with the extra charge for sashimi at other places, their sashimi is often small and the quality is low or just poorly prepared. At Fuji, the sashimi is always consistent and they provide great cuts and variety of sashimi like salmon, eel, tuna, mackerel, and more. I love that it's already included as part of the price and there's no hidden or extra fees. The rolls taste great as well! You can easily grab the rolls from the shelf where they put the freshly made rolls or if you don't see the rolls you want, you can ask the sushi chefs to make them. Personally, I find it more worth it to ask the sushi chefs for sashimi, hand rolls, and the aburi (seared) salmon which is my personal favorite here lol. For the appetizers, you need to order with the waiters but luckily they're very quick and attentive! The fried oyster is really good. The space itself is pretty large and you'll either be seated at a table or at the bar but if you're able to choose, definitely go with the bar! The bar includes the rotating conveyor belt which often has salmon nigiri and other small dishes which makes it more convenient to sit there. The staffs always come by to clean out plates when you're done. The waitress and waiter often come by and ask if we want to order things from the kitchen. The sushi chefs are very fast, quick and great with our orders. If you sit at the bar, the chefs happily drop your orders to you! I often try to come early for better seatings. Not my first time at Fuji's, which says enough! For the price, it's hard to complain. The fish, service and wait times are pretty consistent. I always have a good time eating here with friends and family. There's a good amount of bar and table seating to accommodate big groups. I always get the sashimi and nigiri plates. I am surprised at how long it took me to visit this place. I remember going to a Fuji in Davis, but I am not sure if it is part of this chain. Anyway, we put ourselves on the waitlist since I wasn't sure how long it would take to get a table. It was a Sunday afternoon and surprisingly not too crowded. We opted to sit at the bar once we say the conveyor belt. On the belt is just the salads (seaweed, octopus, jellyfish, etc). Since it was our first time, we didn't know how it worked, but we asked the server. Order appetizers from the waiter and sushi from the chefs. There are also premade ones to choose from at the chef's station. I like that they have a variety of appetizers that are kid-friendly. There are plenty of seats and space, but it can get crowded once the restaurant fills up. The line to order can get backed up, so one improvement they can make is for customers to be able to order through the waiters. Otherwise, everything was delicious and the service was great! My mom and I came here for lunch, since we've always wanted to try this location. We've been to the Vacaville location many times and we like it there. With the good reviews here, I trusted it's the same. The way you order is the same. I think the service over at Vacaville seems a little nicer, though. I did like their fish here, as it still tasted pretty fresh! My favorite thing to order was their seared tuna nigiri! However, there were times where my mom would grab a roll from the bar area and the sushi tasted old/has been sitting there for awhile. I'd rather order fresh from the bar than take a roll that's been sitting there for who knows how long. We also ordered the hamachi kama, veggie tempura, cucumber salad, and sesame balls, which were all reordered! I would like to add... we noticed every time we would ask for a plate or cup, it would be very dirty.. it's almost like they didn't wash their dishes thoroughly. We also tried tempura, teriyaki chicken as appetizers. The grilled salmon appetizer is horrible. The salmon is very slimy!! I had sashimi and even raw salmon, I never had that slimy! Really bad! But other than that, the sushi are nice. To top it off, the sesame balls are nice dessert. They are filled with bean paste. The service is very prompt and very friendly. I have visited this location many times and never fails to disappoint as one of my favorite AYCE sushi locations in the Bay! The Aburi salmon sushi, salmon sashimi, and Titanic are my absolute go-to orders to repeat whenever I visit. Weekday lunch is the best time to go, and weekends will get very busy and can node long wait times. Nevertheless, the prices are unbeatable here for lunch AYCE. They just added Aburi salmon sushi to the lunch menu and chicken Karaage wings to their full menu so if you haven't tried this place, it's absolutely worth the visit (and drive if you live a bit far). I went to Fuji Sushi Buffet with coworkers for the first time while I was in Concord and it was a solid AYCE sushi spot. The quality of the sushi was quite good for AYCE and there was lots of options to choose from ranging from sashimi to nigiri to rolls and even tempura and dessert. The inside of the restaurant is very bright and sushi is served on a revolving center aisle of sorts with the sushi chefs cooking the dishes in the center of the revolving aisle. The staff are attentive and quick as well and help explain how the whole process works. I primarily got salmon sashimi as well as a carpaccio dish and tempura, and out of the three my favorite was the seared salmon nigiri as the salmon was quite thick and fatty. Went here for dinner with my boyfriend who is sadly allergic to most seafood and saw someone else mention that Fuji can do accommodations. We asked Claire, who was very sweet and helpful, if we could add chicken to the rolls and she said no one asked this before. Luckily, the chefs were able to make a chicken roll for us, which my boyfriend really loved! We got the cucumber and avocado veggie rolls mixed together and added the sesame chicken. The other chicken appetizers were also good. They can only chop the chicken on separate cutting boards from the seafood for they are cooked in the same oil and grill, in case the cooking situation is still an issue for anyone! There used to be one in Davis, which I closely remember an associate with the name but it's definitely not the same. The front desk people were welcoming and professionally answered our questions and attended to our needs. I wish I could say the same for the people making the hand rolls behind the counter. Came here around 1pm on a Wednesday, wasn't busy at all, close to closing but they were so accommodating and sweet, once you walk in, there is a tablet for a yelp waitlist but since it wasn't busy, we just got seated. They first take your drinks, and kitchen orders, after that you can place an order at sushi bar, for anything specific you want on the menu. For the most part anything else on the shelf is up for grabs. The sushi and food itself were good. Fuji is one of my favorite restaurants to go to, whether it's for a dinner date or a birthday -- It's not a fancy place to get dressed up for but if you're looking for good food & service - this is a promising place to hit. My favorites are their salmon sashimi plate, alaska handroll, spicy seared salmon, and the caterpillar roll. As for their apps, I usually grab a miso & the veggie tempura (I personally ask them to only give me the green beans, so good)) PRO TIPS: 1- As it goes for any AYCE restaurant, I'd recommend saving your appetite for this as you may want to eat more than you can. 2 - If you have a small group (less than 4), try to get the bar so you can have the revolving sushi bar in front of you which is fun for friends / family that haven't been before. 3 - Ask the sushi chefs for half the portion of sushi rolls, especially if you want to try more things & are starting to fill up. I have this restaurant down at 4 starts as I think there's room for improvement within the service department: It would be for the waiters to check-in a bit more frequently as I feel like they typically only check-in on you when you're first seated to get you drinks & apps but they rarely come back around unless they're dropping off your check at your table (this is coming from someone that goes probably once a month). The salmon and tuna can be a little lacking, but the saba mackerel is yummmmmm. That's the one I keep going back for. Their specialty rolls that you order fresh in line are also the way to do it. Those usually hit way harder than the grab and go stuff. Basically, pace yourself, be strategic, and go in with a sashimi game plan. That's when this place really delivers. It's about an hour to an hour and a half drive for me depending on traffic, but honestly, I don't even mind making the trip. For the price, the AYCE is really solid. great variety, good quality, and definitely worth it if you're trying to get your money's worth. The only downside is how busy it gets. There's almost always a crowd, so if you don't have a reservation, expect to wait for a table. But even with that, it's still a spot I'd keep coming back to. read more

We are huge fans of the Vacaville Fuji Sushi Buffet location. After hearing about the Concord location opening a few years ago, we were very happy to hear that location is closer to us. It was our second time visiting the Concord location. We arrived for a Friday lunch at Fuji Sushi Buffet. The restaurant is located in a nice plaza next to the Concord DMV. Parking is easy and plentiful in the large parking lot. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The price point and value for the lunch buffet is fantastic. A solid plethora of appetizers that are ordered through the server is superb. While the sushi options that are ordered through the sushi chefs are just as excellent as well. Both the quality of the sushi and appetizers are fresh and delicious. I especially enjoyed the unagi sushi nigiri, lion king sushi, grilled salmon teriyaki and the grilled hamachi Kama. A light sear to the salmon along with a balance of rice and sauce. - hamachi kama and sake kama - these were both the best if you don't mind needing to do some work compared to the sashimi or sushi. I add a few orders of these and was very satisfied with my meal. - hamachi and binnaga (albacore) sashimi were tasty [in comparison to tuna and salmon] - the sesame balls and fried banana were surprising delicious. Sesame ball outer layer was soft, while the fried banana made with bananas that was just the right ripeness. The not so good: - overall the quality of the tuna and salmon were so so. They were lean and so wasn't was tender and flavorful as tuna and salmon with good alternating layers of fish fat. The tuna sashimi that I ate also had some frozen taste to it. - the lion king roll was off and so we didn't eat any beyond one plate of that. - soft shell crab could have been better with a less thick batter layer to it. Nice little AYCE (in 90 minutes) sushi bar across from the Veranda in Concord. Make sure you make reservations because the place does fill up quick, and it is rather small inside. We arrived when the place first opened, so we only had to wait a few minutes while the staff got everything finalized. There were a few prepared items on the conveyor, such as salmon nigiri pieces and a few different rolls. People were grabbing them until they that you just go up to the chefs and tell them exactly what you want. I think the best deal is definitely their sashimi platter. You could order it S/M/L, with either all the same fish, or you could do a combo. Either way, considering that would be about a $30 plate at most sushi bars, $30 was the per-person price for the whole experience, minus drinks which were separate. Our bill came to about $75 for 2 people. It may or may not sound pricey to some. But to me, considering the quality and quantity of their selections, I'd say it was a pretty good deal.
