The rolls are nicely presented, the food is consistently good, and while there is some seating inside, it seems most people order takeout. It was hard to decide on what to get but I eventually settled on a large poke bowl because it's been a while. I was def not disappointed. The portions are generous and the prices are very fair. I ended up in this plaza on accident and decided to give this place a try for the burrito sushi. The place was clean and plenty of tables. This place is delicious!! I could not have been more satisfied. I got the Burrlto with salmon and it's like a giant handroll, so filling and so yummy . You get to create it yourself with whatever protein you want, with rice and whatever other fillings you want. They also have a create your own roll, which I did. The husband and I placed an order for takeout and he went to pick up our order. Ichiko Sushi is more of a grab and go/take out spot as seating is very limited. They have a poke bar where you can create your own poke bowl (would need to try at some point!), and a vast menu considering the size of the place. Other than poke bowls, they do some bento boxes, many types of rolls / sushi, and spam musubi, and something they all origiri (not the triangle shaped rice balls with filling). I tried a couple rolls. They had so many to choose from, so I solely went based on the names because I didn't have time to read through everything. What I tried were - Black Jack Roll - Salmon, avocado, cilantro inside, yellowtail, jalapeño, black tobiko, special sauce, and spicy mayo on the outside. Doesn't quite take me back to the black jack table, but I love the name and most things in this roll. What I didn't appreciate was the cilantro inside. Bleh! LOL. Most got picked out, and the rest of the roll was amazing. Packaged very nicely too. Love the huge pieces of salmon inside as well. Straight Flush Roll - Tempura oyster, crab meat, cilantro inside, streamed shrimp, avocado, unagi sauce, tobiko on the outside. It's been years since I've gotten a straight flush in poker... video poker, but this was a fun roll! I wouldn't have gotten it based on the description alone, but I was pleasantly surprised. The fried oysters inside didnt have much flavor, but the roll was good in a texture standpoint. More cilantro? That went into the nope pile. Bento box with chicken Katsu and spicy chicken - comes with the usual bento boxes stuff, such as salad and soup, rice, etc. The chicken Katsu was done pretty well in comparison to our usual takeout spots. The spicy chicken wasn't that great. Lacked flavor in comparison. Avocado onigiri - seaweed, rice, avocado, spam, egg. This was decent. Not the typical origiri, but the ingredients was a good mix. Most of the flavor came from the spam, and texture came from the avocado. Was OK, wouldn't get again though. Chicken Katsu origiri - somehow this was a miss for me. It lacked flavor and most were plain tasting. Maybe something was missing? Overall, I'd return to try some more rolls and perhaps try a poke bowl. People here were nice and helpful. My boyfriend and I came to this spot because it had decent reviews and we were in the mood for some yummy sushi. Unfortunately, we didn't have that tonight. When we walked in there was no greeting from the male behind the counter, he did not say hi, how are you, welcome in..nothing. We proceeded to order our sushi rolls at the kiosk, sat down, and waited. The wait time was not too long, but the entirety of our time there it didn't feel like we were welcome. Once the food was ready he dropped it off at our table, again not speaking a single word. My boyfriend had to get up to ask him for small side plates for soy sauce, got no response, he asked again, and the male handed him the small plates without speaking a single word...okay?? He sat back down and we began to eat the food. Him and I both go to sushi restaurants fairly often, and I think we are experienced enough to know when fish is bad. The rolls were a good size, much bigger than we are used to eating, but the quality was just awful. It was extremely fishy, almost impossible to eat, the imitation crab had so much mayonnaise in it, that's all you could taste, and the chucks of fish inside each roll were so big it was extremely hard to eat. Normally we could get past the size of the fish inside a roll or the size of the roll in general when it has good flavor but this?? This was just awful. The smell and flavor of the fish was so intense and strong it was hard to stomach. We ordered 4 rolls, and each of us had maybe 4-6 pieces before getting so grossed out we decided to just box it up and take it home because we felt bad leaving that amount of sushi there on the table. During this entire experience, the male did not check on us once, did not ask how we were doing, etc. After my boyfriend and I decided we were done, he got up to grab boxes and had to grab them himself because the male behind the counter paid no mind to him. Now this is the worst part, about an hour after eating him and I both began to have stomachaches, which resulted in food poisoning. We are extremely disappointed with this experience and I highly recommend the employees get hospitality training, and whoever does inventory needs to check the quality of seafood they are receiving before serving it to guests. Ichiko Sushi is located in the shopping center where Safeway is, but towards the other half of the area. It's mainly a takeout place, as the seating inside isn't really a whole lot, and they have a table or two just outside of the building. They're a sushi place, but also doubles as a poke place too, as many of these takeout sushi places will have to offer too. Also, they have the fancy onigiri stuff here too, for those who are interested. If you find yourself at Sushi Time, no, this is not the same place, even though they are literally across the street from each other. The service here was a bit disorientated when I was here. The people at the counter didn't really know what they were doing, they also didn't really know how to split a bill, and then told me they accidentally charged me double, and then after a good 3-4 minutes tapping about on the pos screen, they said nvm. They were nice, but didn't feel like they were familiar enough with the system yet. Given this was few weeks back, so perhaps, things have gotten better since. So the three menu, between the poke, the onigiri, and the sushi, there's decent variety for each one of them. The poke is fairly more straight forward since it's a build your own kind of thing, but good selection of onigiri, and great selection of sushi rolls. The pricing here is about the same price as Sushi Time across the street, so not that expensive, however, for a takeout place, I do feel this makes it feel a bit more expensive comparatively due to quality differences from the rolls themselves which I'll talk about in a bit. The poke bowl is priced alright, though, the key factor will be how much fish they give you, so I will have to see that for myself next time I'm there. I will also need to try the onigiri too, and see how it compares to places like Junenov which also offers the fancy onigiri. So with those two out of mind, let's just focus on the sushi since that's mainly what we ordered today. We got several sushi rolls today, and they ranged from stuff with crunchies on top, to standard rolls, to baked rolls. The rolls overall were okay. A couple of them were pretty good, the other two were just mediocre at best, which I felt was due to not really providing a whole lot of fish on some of the rolls, as they're sliced pretty thin. I do like the spicy tuna here, as it's got a bit more flavor than some other places that have spicy tuna. However, I do feel that the portions of the rolls here were just not all the comparable considering how much they were charging for these rolls, especially when you consider you're right across the street from another sushi spot. At the end of the day, how did I feel about Ichiko Sushi? They're alright. I feel they're a bit pricey for most of the offerings here, especially since the quality just doesn't quite feel there. Didn't feel worth it for how much food I was getting from each roll either. Staff were pretty friendly, albeit, some minor hiccups figuring out the pos system, but again, this was some weeks back. There was also a bit of a wait for our food to come out, even though there was only one other table inside, but again, that was weeks back, hopefully they've sped up their delivery of the food to their patrons. I may perhaps go back and try another roll, or maybe try one of the onigiris, but hopefully whatever I order then will be a bit more filling and a better bang for my buck. read more
