I finally tried this place and it was actually very good. Super fresh and tasty. It was very clean in there, not the nicest lighting/ambiance but more casual vibes. I like just being left alone to order at the kiosk and take my time if needed. The one star off is because my order was wrong, the protein was right on the poke bowl, but not all the toppings were there and some wrong toppings. Also, one of my sauces was missing. I would have brought it back, but it's a waste to remake. I really don't want the item that was added in so that sucks a little bit. I think the guy should slow down and make sure he pays attention to the order since it's listed out/doesn't seem too hard. It's better to wait a minute longer and get the order right. They should get that handled because I imagine some people will want it remade to remove toppings they don't want and that's a total waste of their food. The only other thing that freaked me out a little is their seaweed salad turned the rice bright green right away which makes it seem like weird quality/food dye. My husband and I stopped by the other day planning to dine in. However, when we walked in, the person behind the counter didn't greet us or seem very welcoming, so we decided to order our food to go instead. We ordered three different sushi rolls and gyoza using the kiosk. We specifically requested that one of the rolls be made without cream cheese, but when we got home, it still had cream cheese in it. We also noticed that our order came out after customers who had ordered after us, which wasn't a huge deal, but it was a little surprising. Since we only live about five minutes away, the drive home was short. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food. The sushi wasn't very flavorful, and overall it was some of the least enjoyable sushi we've had. The incorrect order only added to the disappointment. The following morning, both of us weren't feeling well. While we can't say for certain what caused it, the timing made the experience even more concerning. Overall, between the unwelcoming service, the order not being prepared as requested, and the disappointing food, we won't be returning and wouldn't recommend this restaurant. read more

Ordering is easy through the kiosk or online, and the staff had no problem customizing a vegan poke bowl for me. They also offer a variety of sauces so you can adjust the flavors to your liking. The rolls are nicely presented, the food is consistently good, and while there is some seating inside, it seems most people order takeout. It was hard to decide on what to get but I eventually settled on a large poke bowl because it's been a while. I was def not disappointed. The portions are generous and the prices are very fair. The food is delicious, service is quick/friendly, and the ingredients are fresh (they don't skimp on em' either!)! They're also really close to me, so this is a win on every level possible. I stopped by Ichiko Sushi on my way to work after leaving a little early and deciding to grab poke, and I'm so glad I did. I honestly wasn't expecting to be this impressed, but this ended up being some of the best poke I've had in a long time. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavor. The fish was fresh, the rice was perfectly cooked (not dry or hard like I've experienced at other poke places), and every bite was delicious. You can really tell they care about the quality of their ingredients. One thing I really appreciated was the rice-to-poke ratio. So many places overload the bowl with rice and skimp on the fish, but this was perfectly balanced. Every bite had plenty of poke, and it made the bowl feel much more satisfying. Poke is my favorite food, and I've tried it at countless places--including in Hawaii--so I don't say this lightly when I say this is genuinely top-tier. The employee working was incredibly patient and friendly while I took my time deciding what I wanted. Great customer service always makes a difference, and it definitely added to the experience. I also have to mention how clean the restaurant was. The dining area was spotless, and even the bathroom was immaculate. I always feel like a clean bathroom says a lot about how a restaurant is run, and this place clearly takes pride in keeping everything clean and welcoming. I came in on a Monday around 4 p.m., so it was pretty quiet and there wasn't anyone else there. I'll admit I was a little nervous that the food might not be as fresh because it was such a slow time of day, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Everything was made fresh, tasted amazing, and I ended up eating it way too fast because it was that good. I'm beyond happy with my meal and will absolutely be back whenever I'm craving poke. The fact that it's only about 15 minutes from my house is even better. This place exceeded my expectations in every way--fresh, flavorful food, excellent customer service, generous portions with the perfect rice ratio, and a spotless restaurant. There was only one visible worker but we came at 6pm on a wednesday. But food took about 10min to come out. There seems to be a lot of online orders however because the guy was busy. This place is delicious!! I could not have been more satisfied. I got the Burrlto with salmon and it's like a giant handroll, so filling and so yummy . You get to create it yourself with whatever protein you want, with rice and whatever other fillings you want. They also have a create your own roll, which I did. I made my own hamachi(yellowtail) roll and the chef did it just right, as if he was reading my mind. It's cute little shop, with sitting inside and out. And they have two booths! I love booths. The husband and I placed an order for takeout and he went to pick up our order. Ichiko Sushi is more of a grab and go/take out spot as seating is very limited. They have a poke bar where you can create your own poke bowl (would need to try at some point!), and a vast menu considering the size of the place. Other than poke bowls, they do some bento boxes, many types of rolls / sushi, and spam musubi, and something they all origiri (not the triangle shaped rice balls with filling). I tried a couple rolls. They had so many to choose from, so I solely went based on the names because I didn't have time to read through everything. What I tried were - Black Jack Roll - Salmon, avocado, cilantro inside, yellowtail, jalapeño, black tobiko, special sauce, and spicy mayo on the outside. Doesn't quite take me back to the black jack table, but I love the name and most things in this roll. What I didn't appreciate was the cilantro inside. Bleh! LOL. Most got picked out, and the rest of the roll was amazing. Packaged very nicely too. Love the huge pieces of salmon inside as well. Straight Flush Roll - Tempura oyster, crab meat, cilantro inside, streamed shrimp, avocado, unagi sauce, tobiko on the outside. It's been years since I've gotten a straight flush in poker... video poker, but this was a fun roll! I wouldn't have gotten it based on the description alone, but I was pleasantly surprised. The fried oysters inside didnt have much flavor, but the roll was good in a texture standpoint. More cilantro? That went into the nope pile. Bento box with chicken Katsu and spicy chicken - comes with the usual bento boxes stuff, such as salad and soup, rice, etc. The chicken Katsu was done pretty well in comparison to our usual takeout spots. The spicy chicken wasn't that great. Lacked flavor in comparison. Avocado onigiri - seaweed, rice, avocado, spam, egg. This was decent. Not the typical origiri, but the ingredients was a good mix. Most of the flavor came from the spam, and texture came from the avocado. Was OK, wouldn't get again though. Chicken Katsu origiri - somehow this was a miss for me. It lacked flavor and most were plain tasting. Maybe something was missing? Overall, I'd return to try some more rolls and perhaps try a poke bowl. People here were nice and helpful. Got the bento box: Miso soup is watered down, no flavor, no salt. Salmon teriyaki was microwaved: tough and dry. Spam musubi didn't have correct spam and rice ratio. 80% rice, 20% spam. It wasn't wrapped in nuri, just a strip to keep it together. CA roll was ok and best part was the salad leaves. Ordering can be done via employee or ordering kiosk. The menu offers a variety of options, from sushi rolls to onigiri to poke to boba drinks. You're never short of choices! My boyfriend and I came to this spot because it had decent reviews and we were in the mood for some yummy sushi. Unfortunately, we didn't have that tonight. When we walked in there was no greeting from the male behind the counter, he did not say hi, how are you, welcome in..nothing. We proceeded to order our sushi rolls at the kiosk, sat down, and waited. The wait time was not too long, but the entirety of our time there it didn't feel like we were welcome. Once the food was ready he dropped it off at our table, again not speaking a single word. My boyfriend had to get up to ask him for small side plates for soy sauce, got no response, he asked again, and the male handed him the small plates without speaking a single word...okay?? He sat back down and we began to eat the food. Him and I both go to sushi restaurants fairly often, and I think we are experienced enough to know when fish is bad. The rolls were a good size, much bigger than we are used to eating, but the quality was just awful. It was extremely fishy, almost impossible to eat, the imitation crab had so much mayonnaise in it, that's all you could taste, and the chucks of fish inside each roll were so big it was extremely hard to eat. Normally we could get past the size of the fish inside a roll or the size of the roll in general when it has good flavor but this?? This was just awful. The smell and flavor of the fish was so intense and strong it was hard to stomach. We ordered 4 rolls, and each of us had maybe 4-6 pieces before getting so grossed out we decided to just box it up and take it home because we felt bad leaving that amount of sushi there on the table. During this entire experience, the male did not check on us once, did not ask how we were doing, etc. After my boyfriend and I decided we were done, he got up to grab boxes and had to grab them himself because the male behind the counter paid no mind to him. Now this is the worst part, about an hour after eating him and I both began to have stomachaches, which resulted in food poisoning. We are extremely disappointed with this experience and I highly recommend the employees get hospitality training, and whoever does inventory needs to check the quality of seafood they are receiving before serving it to guests. Ichiko Sushi is located in the shopping center where Safeway is, but towards the other half of the area. It's mainly a takeout place, as the seating inside isn't really a whole lot, and they have a table or two just outside of the building. They're a sushi place, but also doubles as a poke place too, as many of these takeout sushi places will have to offer too. Also, they have the fancy onigiri stuff here too, for those who are interested. If you find yourself at Sushi Time, no, this is not the same place, even though they are literally across the street from each other. The service here was a bit disorientated when I was here. The people at the counter didn't really know what they were doing, they also didn't really know how to split a bill, and then told me they accidentally charged me double, and then after a good 3-4 minutes tapping about on the pos screen, they said nvm. They were nice, but didn't feel like they were familiar enough with the system yet. Given this was few weeks back, so perhaps, things have gotten better since. So the three menu, between the poke, the onigiri, and the sushi, there's decent variety for each one of them. The poke is fairly more straight forward since it's a build your own kind of thing, but good selection of onigiri, and great selection of sushi rolls. The pricing here is about the same price as Sushi Time across the street, so not that expensive, however, for a takeout place, I do feel this makes it feel a bit more expensive comparatively due to quality differences from the rolls themselves which I'll talk about in a bit. The poke bowl is priced alright, though, the key factor will be how much fish they give you, so I will have to see that for myself next time I'm there. I will also need to try the onigiri too, and see how it compares to places like Junenov which also offers the fancy onigiri. So with those two out of mind, let's just focus on the sushi since that's mainly what we ordered today. We got several sushi rolls today, and they ranged from stuff with crunchies on top, to standard rolls, to baked rolls. The rolls overall were okay. A couple of them were pretty good, the other two were just mediocre at best, which I felt was due to not really providing a whole lot of fish on some of the rolls, as they're sliced pretty thin. I do like the spicy tuna here, as it's got a bit more flavor than some other places that have spicy tuna. However, I do feel that the portions of the rolls here were just not all the comparable considering how much they were charging for these rolls, especially when you consider you're right across the street from another sushi spot. At the end of the day, how did I feel about Ichiko Sushi? They're alright. I feel they're a bit pricey for most of the offerings here, especially since the quality just doesn't quite feel there. Didn't feel worth it for how much food I was getting from each roll either. Staff were pretty friendly, albeit, some minor hiccups figuring out the pos system, but again, this was some weeks back. There was also a bit of a wait for our food to come out, even though there was only one other table inside, but again, that was weeks back, hopefully they've sped up their delivery of the food to their patrons. I may perhaps go back and try another roll, or maybe try one of the onigiris, but hopefully whatever I order then will be a bit more filling and a better bang for my buck. read more

The new sushi spot in town -- we had to give it a try. First impression: the presentation is top-notch. Excellent quality and just the cutest little roll-packages I've ever seen. Their boxes put other sushi places to shame, for most the takeout is just a roll sadly tossed into a clear plastic box... but not here. Fish was great, flavors on the rolls were excellent and the fish portions are very generous. They even threw in a bonus hand-roll! I'll be coming back here for sure, this is a great addition to Martinez. I think if I skipped any protein, it would probably be the shrimp, but all other proteins I loved! I'm a big poke fan and this place did not disappoint. Poke can be overwhelming for a first timer and they have a big screen you can order from with all the options! The ingredients were fresh, the fish was so savory and soft. The topping options are perfect, no extra charge for avocado, mango, cream cheese or crab meat.
