So much imitation crab in the rolls, even when some of them didn't explicitly mention it. Made the price we paid not really worth it. We tried the salmon tempura roll, mango roll, spider roll, unagi roll, a kids sushi combo, takoyaki, and a few other rolls and a couple of items on their specials menu. Besides the takoyaki, everything else was a bit disappointing. The soft shell crab didn't really have a taste other than the batter, and the mango tasted really artificial. I'm not sure what was going on there, but no one liked that roll. Even my son, who absolutely loves mango and sushi, didn't like it. My youngest son barely touched his sushi combo. The unagi roll was good, but really tiny and not too much unagi in it. I'm not sure if it was an off day, because it was one of my mom's favorite places. But even she was disappointed and said she probably won't be back. One thing I did appreciate though was how they have modified chopsticks for kids! That was a nice touch. We've been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years, and the servers have always been very nice. Unfortunately, our recent experience with the sushi chefs was extremely disappointing. I normally order sashimi, and I noticed the pieces were being cut very thin. I politely asked if they could cut them a little thicker and even offered to pay extra. I was told I would have to order more instead, so I said that was fine and we would just keep our original order. Afterward, we noticed the sushi chefs laughing with each other while looking over at us. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable eating the raw fish they had prepared, so we returned it. When someone is handling and preparing raw food, professionalism and trust are extremely important. Seeing the people preparing our food laughing and looking at us after our request made us very uncomfortable. After being customers for more than 20 years, this was very disappointing. I hope management or the new owners address this behavior. The servers have always been kind to us, but the behavior we experienced from the sushi chefs was unprofessional and made us uncomfortable enough that we could not eat the food. read more

We have gotten take out from here so many times in the past 5 years and while pricy, it has always been good and a lot of food. Tonight's order was over $100 for 2 adults and a 5 year old. For $10 we ordered the combo tempura and received 2 small shrimp, 1 broccoli, 1 sweet potato slice and 1 zucchini slice. The entree portions all were smaller too despite price increases. The yakisoba was also loaded with Chinese 5 spice; not what I expected or wanted with Japanese noodles. Such a disappointing experience tonight. read more

Not much to update in terms of rating. I will say that they have updated the interior and it is cleaner, more modern take. Big ups. Menu is good, price is decent for the per sashimi price compared to other spots. Fish was fresh. Sashimi Combo was decent at $30 Beef teriyaki was like jerky in terms of slice size. So even if it's tough n overcooked, it will come out OK. Tempura was fresh n crispy...shrimp kinda tiny though. Service was just ok. No one looked at us when we were trying to get the check and a to go box. We were staring at the servers waiting for one of them to look out way. However before that they did ask if we were ok once, which is one more time than none. Sad that water had no ice. I dislike room temperature water to drink. This place has been here for a while I think. We walked in for lunch and they weren't that busy. We were asked to sit in or out and decided to sit outside as it was a nice day. The servers make you feel like they want you in and out it, don't spend time at your table. Maybe cause it was lunch. Unfortunately this was a work lunch so I wasn't able to take any photos. We ordered an abundance of things, appetizers, rolls, sashimi etc. I asked for water and it comes in a plastic cup.. the sodas are in cans so no refills. My rainbow roll came out and it was a decent size. Not a lot of fish for being a rainbow roll. There was more avocado than anything. I can say that the rice was nice and soft, but didn't get any of the flavor of the fish. We also had the tuna sashimi which presented ok. I guess the server messed up and gave us an additional sashimi to make up for it. As we received our rolls and sashimi I was wondering about our appetizers we ordered... they didn't come out first. The chicken wings were good, had a nice crisp to them when you bit in to them. They didn't come with any sauce but did have good seasoning. The tempura was nice and flakey. Light like it's supposed to be. Came out with large pieces of vegetables. You should have seen the size of the onion! Overall, this is not my favorite sushi spot. It did not fill my need for Japanese food and sushi! There are other options to choose from in Martinez that have larger rolls and use fresh fish. read more

We came here during lunch hours and it was pretty crowded, so we decided to eat outside. Overall, the staff was very accommodating and still attentive to us despite being outside. They have a great menu with a wide selection of items, including udon, ramen, nigiri, hand rolls, etc. The prices are reasonable and nothing too much. This review is strictly for online take out order. Ordered the TNT roll.....oooh so good. Generous portion, perfectly flash fried. I'm not the most adventurous sushi eater but this roll was a knock out of the park in my opinion. It's a spicy tuna roll with jalapenos and avocado inside then deep fried and topped with micro fish eggs and special sauce. I will absolutely get this again. Sometimes fish eggs are a bit much for me but because this were so small, they didn't taste like anything or give any odd texture issues. My only personal downside is the ginger was smashed up against one end of the roll so in my opinion those 2 pieces tasted like spicy soap. My orders are usually more traditional: sashimi, kama, nigiri's. I think we cover a good base and have been here a few times. The vibe here is fast casual family and I enjoy it! One night it was three couples including us and it felt like a date spot! Just moved to the area, so I've been slowly trying to explore new places and restaurants. Decided it was going to be a sushi night. We ordered takeout. Hanabi provided lots of soy sauce and utensils. We called in our order and was able to pick up in 15 mins. Our order was good for 3-4 people. It came with soup and salad which I didn't take a picture of. The sushi itself was nothing amazing. The rolls we got were basic, and they honestly didn't taste great. The California roll and rainbow roll were made with a lot of mayo. The nigiri was also not that great. I didn't thing they tasted too fresh. I might return for a quick and easy sushi dinner since it's pretty close, but I would choose otherwise if possible. read more
