Ramen 101 is my go-to when I'm craving a solid bowl of ramen. My favorite? The Black Garlic Ramen, rich, bold, and packed with that deep, roasted garlic flavor that takes it to the next level. The broth is always on point, the noodles have the perfect bite, and the toppings are generous. The staff is super friendly, and the service is quick, so you're not waiting forever when that ramen craving hits. Plus, for the quality, the prices are reasonable. I was craving hot ramen during a cold, rainy day and stumbled upon this place. First of all, this place is one of the only ramen places in the Concord/Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek area to serve vegetarian/vegan options. It is located near downtown Concord with a parking garage nearby that is free to park in if you don't want to park on the street. Adequate amount of seating indoors as well if you'd like to dine in. As for the ramen, I felt pretty satisfied with the size of my bowl. For around $16, the veggie ramen comes with a generous amount of noodles, tofu slices, kikurage mushroom, corn, bamboo shoots. The spice level of the broth can also be adjusted. I got the mild, but honestly probably could have gotten the medium since I could barely taste the spice. My order also came out pretty quickly too, didn't have to wait more than 10-15 min but I also had an early-ish lunch. Overall, solid spot to get some ramen in the area, especially if you are vegetarian/vegan!
On a cold December night, when neither of us felt like cooking, we decided to give this place a try & order some food. As soon as we saw they had vegetable ramen, we knew we were hooked. The ramen arrived still hot & on time, which was awesome. We also ordered some of the vegetable tempura, which had a nice assortment of veggies. They give you a huge portion of food, which easily leaves me with leftovers for the next day. I highly recommend this place & can't wait to check out the actual restaurant next time! Vegetable ramen: vegetable broth, tofu, bean sprouts, green onions, kikurage mushrooms, corn, & bamboo shoots. Extra $1 for a boiled egg!
My partner and I wanted something warm to eat on this cold night, so I suggested we go to this place since it was nearby. Parking is ample due to the nearby structure, and it was a quick 1 min walk here. Ordering is placed at the counter and you get a waiting number to place at your table. It was not too crowded when we went, so we got our food right away. Black Garlic Ramen: This was a rather delicious bowl of ramen. I didn't really taste any of the black garlic, but the noodles were cooked well and the pork chashu was nicely done. Three pieces were plentiful for my bowl. There was a fair amount of bamboo shoots and corn as well. The broth was at medium spicy. Overall, I enjoyed the bowl for the price. I felt full, though I did have some brother leftover at the end. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and recommend others to give this a try as well

We really like Ramen 101 here. We discovered this place through delivery but have visited the ramen shop twice so far. Their ramen is rich with generous toppings. The portion is great too. If you order their Hawaiian bbq entree, you will most likely have leftover. We will return for more ramen for sure!

It's interesting that a counter-service soup stop replaced a full-service restaurant, but it's likely a trend inspired by Concord's more casual dining culture. We stopped in for the first time this weekend after spending literally weeks (!) looking for a new ramen shop. I ordered the Seafood Ramen, he ordered the Tontaksu Ramen. Both of us ordered Medium spicy, which ran a little mild but was still very good. I loved my Seafood Ramen: The Shrimp were perfect, scallops weren't rubbery, really liked the sweet corn. I've never had scallops in ramen before but really liked it! The broth wasn't too rich, and the noodles weren't soggy - I don't know how chewy they're supposed to be but mine were much better than anything I'd make at home. The service was extremely fast, which is great if you're running late to a movie or just don't like sitting around. Free chilled water was also nice, though they do offer a cooler full of other beverages/sodas. It's kind of a catch-all place (kid-friendly), so don't expect a quiet date night here. Solid ramen for Concord, I'm sure we'll be back!
Quick and easy ramen spot with your classics available and some Hawaiian bbq as well. Parking is hit or miss here. They've got a couple parking lots near by, but they can be busy. So be prepared to take a little walk. The staff was nice and helped us promptly as we walked in. The atmosphere is kind of bland, only 10 tables or so inside, 4 of which are along side a bench against the wall. The location is a little small for how much business I believe they do. The food was good, not the best ramen, but certainly not bad at all. I'd have the tonkatsu ramen again, but I would probably try something else to explore the menu. The drink fountain was broken, but they did have drinks in a cooler.
I ordered from Ramen 101 for my family on 1/31/26. Let me tell you that food was piping hot and fresh when it arrived at my house! Great delivery packaging and care put into everything, which is not always the case when ordering out. Ramen 101 has a great variety for different food desires. My mother enjoyed the bbq chicken, grandma loved the teriyaki chicken, and my Papa and wife loved their to katsu ramen. The broth was rich and flavorful on all levels! I always love that you can customize the heat levels as well. Great prices, great flavor, the chashu was quality, the egg was beautiful marinated. My black garlic ramen was a flavor explosion! I also got it spicy and it was a perfect heat (not that hot for me so if you like very spicy you might ask for more). Good noodles, a bit thicker and good chew. Truly a lovely spot to warm your heart and tummy! read more

The ramen noodles and chicken karaoke were pretty good. A little skimpy on the noodles though. Ambiance is a bit sparse but functional. Service was prompt and friendly, but could have been more attentive and helpful. Prices were a little high for ramen, although all restaurant food seems a bit high to me. I wavered between a 3 and 4 star review but in the end gave it the benefit of the doubt. Overall good but nothing spectacular. read more

Was craving ramen so I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and we also had the chicken bowl, which is pretty inexpensive and just the right size for a light meal. This place gets lots of orders to go, but there are plenty of seats to eat in. The ramen here is solid, but I probably would not wait in a line for this place. I ordered my ramen mild, but the spicy oil sits on top of the soup so any scoop or bit of noodles sort of hits you with heat no matter what. Not super spicy, but be warned. read more
I've driven past here many times telling myself "I got to give this ramen place a try". I liked the ambiance. Darker color's, giving it a more cozy feel. You order at the counter and they bring out your ramen. From the time I ordered until I received my ramen was really quick. I had the Tonkatsu ramen. It looked great and tasted as delicious as it looks. This is the best Tonkatsu Ramen I've had so far. From the creamy broth to the roasted pork to the al dente noodles to the perfectly done Ramen eggs. If you like Ramen, give this place a try you won't be disappointed. read more

It pains me to give a 3 star after coming here so often and loving it. Placed a to-go order - 1 Tonkotsu Medium and 1 Miso Mild. Paid, grabbed the closed bag, and drove home. Got home and opened up the bag only to see they have us 1 Seafood ramen instead of the Tonkotsu. I gave it a try, it had 3 pieces of shrimp, 3 small pieces of scallop, corn and the normal toppings as their ramens do. I figure it's gonna taste delicious because I love seafood, but no, it wasn't as enjoyable as the other. Scallops were pretty chewy, and the shrimp had the freezer burn taste, blah. Anyways, my kid still loved his ramen so they get a few stars for not messing up his meal. Hopefully they don't give me the wrong one next time...and I'll also be sure to check my bag before leaving. *Tip - check yo' bags yo!!!! Lol read more

First time trying ramen .. I ordered the chicken ramen medium spice and my partner got the black garlic- spicy. Black garlic was definitely the most flavorful. The chicken ramen was okay. It lacked a little bit of flavor so I had to ask for chili sauce which helped only a little. Did come with a good portion of chicken strips. I do wish they had salt or something on the table to make the broth tastier. Gyoza! This was a 7/10 for me. It came with a packet of soy sauce and chili but I didn't find that they added the taste of them too much. Overall ratings: Black garlic- 8/10 Chicken ramen-7/10 Service: 9/10 friendly faces. read more

I love Ramen 101, best ramen!! Went back tonight for dinner after a very long time. It's still as delicious as I remember! Staff is always friendly and the restaurant itself is always clean. I wish their spice level was spicier though! The extra spicy level is mild at most. Can't wait to go back :) read more

I've always been a fan of this place, I like the broth specially for the Black Garlic Ramen. I also order the Unagi Rice a lot. I made sure to support the business a lot during the pandemic when it was To Go orders only. That's why I'm a bit disappointed at the amount of broth they give for to go orders. Check out the photo I have attached - the broth used to be full. Now I would say it's 60 to 70% filled. A broth can't be that expensive to the operation... I understand that inflation has made things expensive, but you can't limit the broth to a ramen place. That's the soul of the ramen and it's being taken away. read more

This place is really good! I got the tonkatsu ramen and the chicken karaage. They're generous with their noodles and portion sizes. I also tried the fried oysters and tofu that my friends got. Everything here taste good. How to order: You place your order up front at the counter and they'll bring it to your table, you can sit anywhere that's open. read more

The Ramen was really good we ordered the black garlic and the tonkotsu ramen, both were delicious. We ordered them spicy and it had a good amount of heat, if you like it very spicy order it is xtra spicy. The chicken squid we very tasty. Ramen For Dunch! I finally checked out Ramen 101 after reading many good reviews and recommendations. We happen to be in the area so we went for it. We went there for lunch-dinner, around 330. Is there another term for lunch-dinner, like brunch for breakfast-lunch? For this review let's call it, "dunch". Hahaha! So we ordered a Black Garlic Ramen and a BBQ chicken and beef rice plate so we can check out 2 items in one visit. The Ramen broth was a bit thicker than normal which I like, but flavorful. The pork belly was not as tender as I would have like, but the noodles were cooked just right, not soggy or tough. So, the ramen was definitely better than the one in Veranda. As for the rice plate, it was delicious. The large piece of BBQ chicken was so tender that I rarely used my plastic knife to slice it. It was well marinated and perfectly cooked and not dry. As for the BBQ beef, oh wow, sliced-thin but tender and tasty, and well marinated on the sweet side. Overall, the recommendations are good and the reviews are fair. I'll definitely return again whenever I'm in the area. read more
There's only a handful of ramen options in the Concord/Walnut Creek area, but this is my favorite one! Conveniently located in an area with lots of great spots to eat and shop at and also a parking lot! Some seating inside - they do ask for vaccination to sit inside! You order at the front and then grab a seat I got the black garlic ramen and it was delicious! Portions are generous, broth was flavorful, and the toppings were perfect! I also loved that the chashu was meaty and not overly fatty like some other ramen spots we've had. My husband got the tonkotsu ramen and he scarfed it up! read more

Yes. But you gotta get there early or non peak hours to combine tables.
Are all the ramens pork based broth expect for the veggie one?
I asked the same question when we ate there and they said, all soups were pork based.
Is the broth for the vegetable ramen vegan (not animal-based)?
Yes but the noodles itself are not vegan (egg noodles) but there should be an option where you can have bean sprouts instead of noodles
