Ambiance: 5/5 :: highly clean, airy and bright! service: 5/5 :: staff is very nice; very friendly Food: 5/5 :: if you haven't eaten here, you're missing out it's Saturday evening and my daughter and I went right after her brow appointment. They were not busy when we got there but every time we would walk by they were always busy. we finally got to eat here and the food is really good. We ordered several dishes and were not disappointed at all! I didn't get to take pics of all the food we ordered bc we were both very hangry! :) but the food is made to order and very flavorful and better than some other restaurants we've gone to. Will we be back? heck yah! And we'll be ordering different food next trip! thanks!

A sushi place inside Sun Valley Mall...amazing! I was impress that there is a place to have Chicken Teriyaki and sushi. This place is not in the food court by near Sears. Here is what I like about Hello Chicken & Sushi....my Chicken Teriyaki came with Macaroni Salad on the side. I really loved my Macaroni Salad. The taste of my Chicken Teriyaki was good. For a moment I thought I was having Hawaiian BBQ. Inside Hello Chicken & Sushi was OK. It use to be a taqueria. It is nice to dine inside and relax. I told the people that work at Hello Chicken & Teriyaki that I enjoyed my food. They did served me a great Chicken Teriyaki. I will definitely say hello again to Hello Chicken & Sushi

Love, love, love this place. Hello chicken has been home away from home. Food is great and customer service is amazing!!! If your looking for great food At Sunvalley mall this is the place

    Gimbap

Best place to eat in the mall in my opinion! Thought the name was odd because chicken AND sushi? But then I realized it was KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN! I didn't take a picture but I believe it was the soy wings I got and they were amazing and decently priced for chicken wings. I really loved the gimbap if you are just looking for a quick snack while shopping. You can never go wrong with a California roll and it's at the price a California roll should be (if you are paying over $10, you're getting scammed)! Lastly the Bulgogi bowl is the perfect option if you are just looking for some meat and rice lol. I do wish they sold kimchi on the side for it because I think it would be the perfect meal. The staff are so kind. Whenever I come in it's the same lady working the front, with a man and a ajumeoni cooking in the back. I can tell it's a small family restaurant and they are doing a great job. I will always come here whenever im at the mall.

Hello Chicken & Sushi is located in Sun Valley Mall. Now, when hearing this your first reaction would probably be similar to mine, and that was, "this has no chance of being good". However, after I got over my initial hesitation, I'm glad that Hello Chicken & Sushi has found a home here. While they aren't the only sushi place in the area, as there are plenty of other locations not far away in all directions, they do fit in pretty well in regards to pricing and food quality. First off, menu pricing is very comparable. Especially for the mall, this is a nice option to have when you're not looking to drop a ton at the other places there. While the portions here aren't going to be super filling, the price of everything does make it reasonable. Their menu is fairly sized, between the Korean side, and the side. The chicken part here is the Korean fried chicken style, so if you're up for Korean fried chicken wings, this is a great place for that. But of course, they also offer sushi options here along with the other basic Japanese dishes, so there's those options too. I've been here several times now, tried quite a few things on their menu, so I'll try to cover a few of the highlights here, and steer clear of here. First, the sushi stuff. The sushi here is pretty cheap, especially if you're someone who enjoys their California Rolls. Hard to find them around for this price, but the California Rolls here are quite tasty. Because of the price, they're obviously not going to be huge, but compared to other places that charged 1.5-2x more, I still feel it's worth it especially because it's tasty. I would recommend the Spicy California Rolls too, which is just cost a bit more, but totally worth it if you like a bit of spice with your meal, though keep in mind it's not THAT spicy. The Lion King here is quite nice as well. If you're somebody who likes your Lion King saucy, you found a good place here with that. Lots of flavor, very creamy, and well sized overall for the cost. The fried chicken wings here are nice. I do wish they had an actual sweet chili flavor for their wings, but their sauces are almost all savory side, even the ones that mention sweet in the glaze, but it's really not that sweet. The wings themselves are fried quite crunchy, so no worries about the wings being too sauced and soggy if you want to go with a saucier version. The wings are also pretty big too. The chicken teriyaki here is nice. It's not quite as saucy as I usually like it, but it has a nice grill/char on it, so adds to the flavor of the overall dish. They don't use thigh/leg meat for the teriyaki, so if you're someone who prefers a chicken more tender with this dish, then you may not enjoy this as much. Pricing wise it's reasonable, but it's also not going to be s large portion, but it does come with rice and a Asian coleslaw, so if you combine all of that then it would be filling and enough for a regular person. The garlic noodles, while looks great on the menu, is rather hit or miss. The first time I had it was quite tasty, and quite garlicky. The second time I tried it was also the same. The third and the fourth time I tried it, it's gone in the other direction. Tasted like nothing, bland, and barely any garlic flavor to it. The other downside here is that they don't use egg noodles, so it's more like angel hair pasta rather than garlic noodles. Again, it had been good, I asked about this later on, and they told me they stopped putting as much garlic into it, which checks out. Before I recap, lastly, the selling point here isn't just the food and cost, but the staff. Owner is incredibly friendly, and it is very much a family runned style restaurant. I often would see other members of their family helping out with the restaurant. The wife does most of the cooked food prep, while the husband is mainly the sushi prep. If you need options for catering, larger orders, or just other things they're more than willing to help you out even though they haven't even figured out the catering stuff just yet, but provided options anyways. Overall, a great family run, Korean/Japanese cuisine place. The sushi here is solid, though nothing is going to be a huge roll. The chicken stuff here I all enjoyed thus far. The pricing is a great selling point, and worth it especially for the mall setting. I would recommend trying them out, even though if your first reaction of mall sushi resembled mine, give it a shot!

The food here taste amazing. I never thought it would taste so satisfying. The chef here is great. A lot of people actually come and eat at this place. It was not busy when we came in today. The tables were clean and the place has some plenty of space to eat. It's not crowded.

    Lion King Roll $10.99

I've had Hello Chicken & Sushi bookmarked on Yelp for several months. I saw that it had almost perfect reviews so I knew I had to check it out. Hello Chicken & Sushi is located at the Sun Valley Mall right across from McDonald's. It's a small place with a few tables for dine-in. The food is made fresh so be aware that there might be a wait for your food. I got a Lion King Roll $10.99, if you're a baked sushi fan then you'll know that $10.99 is pretty cheap for a Lion King Roll. They're usually priced around $16-$18 in the Bay Area. Even at the $10.99 price the taste is not compromised! The sushi was delicious, and I did notice that it does taste a bit sweet. I think they might add sugar to their sauce. Great price for great food! I'll keep returning if they keep it that way!

Left is Golden Gate sushi, Right is Spider roll- both were amazing! Chicken karaage on top

04/02/24- Back here at the mall and it's time to try another good stuff and see if all the great things stay the same. Greeted by the Chef/owner upon entering, a huge plus. That feels like Home and family atmosphere. Ordered spider roll (again) and fried california roll. It's all fresh and made to order. Had to order it to-go to bring at the food court as kids have a different orders of their liking. Both were tasty and good. Eat it while it's hot, since it's fried. I forgot to snap a photo as I jump right in action! Will be back again, hopefully garlic noodles will be available when I return. It looks quiet here but the price is reasonable and the quality is a top restaurant quality, only the freshest of ingredients! Customer Service is Superb!

Great, quality sushi that is affordable. They give you large portions and the food is better than most sushi places in Concord. You don't get the table service, but it's most definitely worth it. I still go to my favorite sit down sushi restaurant when I want table service, but you'll find me here more often! Everyone is very nice and welcoming!

I came across another Yelper's review and decided to try out Okini Sushi, in Pleasant Hill. It's a few miles off the 680 freeway, located in a scenic neighborhood. I ordered a delicious crab meat salad topped with avocados and I ordered off of the Happy Hour menu, with an aloha roll, it is a crabmeat, cucumber roll salmon on top with seaweed salad decorating the top of the roll. I ordered the mini chirashi don, which was a perfect main dish with five large slices of sashimi over rice, seaweed salad and a couple of nice spices of tamagoyaki (rolled egg), plus miso soup and a side salad. Easy listening music plays in the background, the wait staff are very nice and polite. The family at the next table with two little kids were given cute children's sectioned plates with kids' chopsticks, which was very convenient for the four year old to use, however, the two year old wasn't big enough to use chopsticks. This was a perfectly delicious lunch, with enough leftovers for a later dinner meal. Do try out this restaurant if you're driving along in the East Bay on the very long 680 freeway, it's a detour of five miles in land. There is plenty of parking here, it's located next to a barbecue shop with sauces, which I'll need to check out afterwards.

Not sure if they do 1/2 rolls- but that would be a way to try more. So many things we wanted to try, but were too full- lily the burrito, nacho. Hubby loved his spicy tuna hand roll We always order a spicy tuna roll at every sushi place- kinda our test the rolls here standard roll. This one was amazing and didn't disappoint. Hubby wanted to order a second one- but I asked to try other ones to experience them. We tried the shrek roll- I wasn't crazy about the lemon avocado sauce on top... but I'm sure that's me Hubby ordered the adios fire roll- but didn't find it to be spicy The hamachi Kama was one of the bet be have had- very fresh and prepared well Again- so many things we wanted to come back and try- we didn't order any baked rolls or any from the fresh rolls section. They finish with ice cream several flavor choices- vanilla, green tea, mango, strawberry, cherry

I eat a lot of sushi and this quality was great!! This is the first ayce that actually had other things on the menu other than sushi. My fiancée doesn't eat fish and there was enough on there like ramen chicken teriyaki fried rice. The KFC chicken was absolutely delicious!! Crispy and sticky sauce was a hit with the whole table. The ambiance is typical. Tables it's a bit echoey lol but maybe that's because it was only us and 1 other table. Bathrooms are clean but beczreful in the women's if you don't move for two minutes the light shuts off haha
