Great value for money. We were served miso soup and a side salad as soon as we were seated. Our water glasses were periodically refilled. I was surprised by the huge portion sizes! Service was warm and friendly.Totally worth it! Will definitely be back.

We came here on a weekday evening...craving some sushi and this seems to be a popular place! We ordered a few sushi rolls and they seemed pretty fresh overall. They have great portions. I liked the sesame dressing on the salad, even though it was probably very similar to what you might get at other places. The miso soup was also nice and comforting. We also ordered one of their specials, the mixed vegetable karaage. It was not necessarily what we expected, which was maybe something like small pieces of vegetables deep fried, but it ended up being shredded veggies like carrot that were deep fried into pancakes (3 pieces). It wasn't my favorite dish. We did flag down the waitress who was presumably the owner, as well, for a bowl/dish that had some old food on it. She apologized and brought a new one out. She then surprised us with a kimbap, which was not expected but very much appreciated. At that point we had eaten so much, we had to take it to go. Parking lot is on the smaller side. The outside of the restaurant made it seemed like the inside was small, but it was pretty spacious inside. Overall, it was a positive experience here, and I'd recommend a try!

Beef sukiyaki! One of the few remaining places that still has it on the menu..and it's RAD

Huge portions, very fresh tasting, and always delicious! Super nice staff and owner, too Here for a Birthday dinner, but try to make it here as often as possible!

Great portions and excellent quality and service. Salmon was fresh and plentiful as well as the chicken. Fish on the sushi was fresh and delicious.

I came here for lunch again. Beware, they keep increasing their prices. Ugh! I was a little annoyed when the staff said I couldn't bring my bottled water. There's no signs that states NO Outside drinks. Their water is not filtered and tastes terrible. They need to install a water filter. I ordered their lunch special Bento box. It was very good and big portions. I ordered the salmon with tempura Bento box and it was very good.

Still continues to be a decent option with consistent food, and good service when they aren't slammed. However when they are slammed, service borders on so irritating you want to complain, and understanding that they're understaffed. Prices are ever increasing, but the tempura is still crunchy, and the fish is still fresh. But the beef teriyaki is always tough and the water never has ice. Miso soup and Salad are great. Overall this is still a go-to when I visit.

The sushi here is great! We got the crunchy roll, rainbow, and crazy roll. Big portions and good ratio to rice. Rice here is seasoned well and great texture. Fish tasted fresh and buttery. One of the best rainbow rolls Ive had in the area. It had lots of different fish and was all great quality. The crunchy roll had great crunchy texture and not hard or dry. Service here is great. We were welcomed at the door right away and got seated immediately for lunch on a Saturday. Although there was one server doing it all, she did the best she could to be on her feet and be attentive. We also received complimentary got miso soup and salad. Food came about 10min after we ordered. The ambiance of this place is also great. We walked in and noticed light pop music playing which we enjoyed. Also the decor was also well japanese themed. The place also felt homely and family oriented. The restaurant was in a strip mall and we had no problem finding parking in the lot. Would recommend for a quick family lunch. Definitely coming back!

This place is reasonable, quick during not so busy dinner time. We have been here many times during dinner and it does get busy. Sometimes the service is slower during peak time but otherwise they do get your stuff in less than 10 mins. We usually order volcano toll, caliente and spider rolls. The rolls never disappoint. Sometimes you can see that the presentation gets clunky during rush hours. But atleast they make everything fresh. It's not a fancy place and sometimes I just show up in my pjs. The ambiance is relaxed and no dress code needed.

2nd time here because our first experience was amazing. The location is a bit random and tucked away, but it's worth checking out if you're in the mood for tasty sushi rolls--which are large in size compared to other sushi restaurants. Food options: Bento boxes, tasty appetizers. I recommend trying their sushi rolls. The Brother's Roll and Concord Roll are delicious. Taste: 8.5/10 Service: 10/10 -- they're attentive and respectful. Vibes: 10/10 -- I walk in and get a good feeling every time. Like "I know I'm about to walk out happy"... and it's true. We'll be coming back :)

Ate here for lunch on a Saturday. Both food and service were great. We were surprised by the huge portion sizes, especially the rolls! The tempura came out freshly fried and crispy. We ate as a party of 6 and ordered so much that the we also got a complimentary tempura sushi roll! Wow.

Great little place in an alley near Costco. The Bento Box offerings and the sushi boats are monstrous. They also are really nice to the kids as well and have great service. My kids like all the options and the place is affordable. I would say the sushi is pretty good quality for what you pay for. The alley and location is not the greatest, so be careful when parking around there. But overall i would recommend and focus on the bento and sushi boats.

Fried roll - like a California roll with shrimp tempura
    Rita W.

5 stars for the size of their rolls, especially their specialty ones. They are nearly twice as big as standard rolls around the area, more stuffed, better bang for your buck. The kids enjoyed their food here as well and asked that we become regulars, which is a great sign! We (party of 4) got here between 12:30pm and 1pm on a Sunday afternoon for lunch, and we were seated at one of the booths. We were given miso soups (yay, love free miso soup!), waters, and menus. There was also a specials menu on the table where the kids decided to get the tonkotsu ramen with California roll combo. We didn't see ramen on the main menu and weren't sure if we can order it separately as the daughter doesn't like rolls, but the son said he'll take her California rolls as well. What we ordered- The ramen with roll- wow, huge portions! Noodles were a bit soggy, but otherwise they really enjoyed it. They were a bit disappointed that they couldn't finish the whole bowl along with their sides. The California roll was really big and stuffed with the crab (imitation?) meat and such. Chicken karaage- the daughter said it was really good. Portion for this was huge too and she ended up taking a few pieces to go. Super rainbow roll- all for me! It's like a rainbow roll, but super. They add a shrimp tempura inside there and top the roll with the standard stuff plus some unagi and more. So good. About twice as wide as other rolls I've seen, with bigger cuts of the fish on top. Futomaki roll- decided I needed some veggies so I got another roll not knowing how big the portions here would be. The futomaki roll is one of their more standard roll, and it was pretty good and stuffed with everything as advertised, but a lil something was lacking, but can't quite tell what that is. Lunch bento with chicken teriyaki and gyoza- I absolutely love how they put practically a whole gyoza appetizer here instead of just 2 or 3 pieces like most other places with lunch bento. Amazing. All was pretty standard, but good. One of the more "normal" portions here, but still filling. Deep fried roll with shrimp tempura- like a California roll with shrimp tempura added in, but deep fried and covered with special sauce. We didn't order, but were given this to try, and it wouldn't be something we'd order and the husband has shellfish allergy, so practically all for me. I left feeling stuffed!!! Good value. Spent over $100, but well worth it. Keep up those portions, and we'll be back maybe more often than we'd like!

We come here whenever we are in the area. The tonkatsu and sushi is really good and the service is really good. The restaurant is clean and not overly crowded so it's comfortable.

They are not an "All You Can Eat" place. Order from menu.

Hi Do you take reservations for 8-10?

    They do not take reservations.

    Do they have AYCE?

    They do not.

Does anyone know the name of the complimentary roll? & if they have it on the menu?

In my experience they're no longer giving it out any more.

Are they now offering indoor dining?

No. July 1st indoor dining has been postponed.

Is this place an actual sushi buffet. Where you pay once and can order however many you want?

No it's not a buffet but they do provide a free random extra roll (varies in size) on the house to show gratitude. Honestly best place for sushi!

Would they accommodate special requests like can they make sushi without the rice?

Yes, from my experience, when you ask for a custom roll they have accommodated and it tastes delicious.

The ambience of this place was very warm and inviting and I can see that this restaurant has a very special place in the pleasant hill community from all the pictures they've shared with their customers. It checks out, because everything is so delicious and everyone who works here is so kind. On top of checking on us multiple times to see if everything was fine, they also gave us multiple free appetizers as I'm assuming business was a bit slow and we went near closing. We even asked for extra ginger to go, forgot about it, and one of the workers tried to give it to us still while we were already getting into our car... Their kindness went a long way and I am hopeful this restaurant prospers in lots of business! They more than deserve it!

BF had beef in his bento that he said was it was a little tough. The tempura was crunchy and tasty-3 pieces of shrimp and various vegetables. It's a much more personal and friendly experience this way. Much more conducive to conversation with your party. Our server was very pleasant and prompt to check back about ordering more and drink refills The restaurant and restroom was clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking and easy access without stairs or steps We started out with some apps, spicy edamame, agedasi tofu, and gyoza. Next time we will do the garlic edamame- the spicy one had both garlic and spice- and we both agreed we would like just garlic best. We do like spice normally- but it was the spicy garlic combo that was off for us The tofu was 2 bigger pieces- I've tried it here now, and don't need it again. I prefer it smaller pieces with more of the outer crunch My hubby liked the gyoza- he said they did the perfect crunch, and cooking time on them. We ordered a few more apps to try as well miso soup for 2, egg rolls and shrimp tempura Nice miso soup- hubby loved the crunch and flavor of the egg rolls and ordered more, shrimp tempura was perfect as well. Want to try the ramen and the poke next time. I tried the baked mussel- yummy- personally I would ask for no sauce, but I can see why this is popular. For nigiri we had the spicy scallop- amazing Garlic Ono- yummy Surf clam- chewy- not my fav. Want to try the Cajun tuna, basil tuna and jalapeño albacore next time Want to try the tiny next time- photos on menu look yummy My hubby really enjoyed the chicken katsu- cooked perfectly and with a yummy breading We tried the crazy cucumber roll- no rice- I love this- more flavor and not filling up As much on rice. Not sure if they do 1/2 rolls- but that would be a way to try more. So many things we wanted to try, but were too full- lily the burrito, nacho. Hubby loved his spicy tuna hand roll We always order a spicy tuna roll at every sushi place- kinda our test the rolls here standard roll. This one was amazing and didn't disappoint. Hubby wanted to order a second one- but I asked to try other ones to experience them. We tried the shrek roll- I wasn't crazy about the lemon avocado sauce on top... but I'm sure that's me Hubby ordered the adios fire roll- but didn't find it to be spicy The hamachi Kama was one of the bet be have had- very fresh and prepared well Again- so many things we wanted to come back and try- we didn't order any baked rolls or any from the fresh rolls section. I came across another Yelper's review and decided to try out Okini Sushi, in Pleasant Hill. It's a few miles off the 680 freeway, located in a scenic neighborhood. I ordered a delicious crab meat salad topped with avocados and I ordered off of the Happy Hour menu, with an aloha roll, it is a crabmeat, cucumber roll salmon on top with seaweed salad decorating the top of the roll. I ordered the mini chirashi don, which was a perfect main dish with five large slices of sashimi over rice, seaweed salad and a couple of nice spices of tamagoyaki (rolled egg), plus miso soup and a side salad. Easy listening music plays in the background, the wait staff are very nice and polite.
