Interior is modern and minimal and kinda looks like it used to be a Chipotle LOL OYSTERS: Kumamotos are my fav :3 Topped with some sort of horseradish, masago, green onion combination~ GOLDEN EGG SAMPLER: SO MUCH QUAIL EGG. I think this would have been better shared with two others (so much... yolk...), but fresh & delicious nonetheless OCEAN BREEZE ROLL: Minimal sauce to highlight the fish flavor...! With just the right amount of rice; not too vinegar-y, either. You can really taste the sweetness in each fish. I'm super impressed~ MATCHA CHEESECAKE: Light in sweetness but dense. Very creamy with distinct matcha flavor. We loved it! For their Mother's Day special, they offered a free piece of jewelry (???) for any receipt total over $100. I chose a black metal ring. Never seen a deal like this before...? Though... This place takes it upon themselves to "massage" their gratuity, the amount they charge you on your credit card will be much higher than what you put down on the bill for "custom amount". The gratuity already starts at 20% if you don't use "custom amount"! There's also a credit card surcharge. This place only had paper placemats, there aren't even chopstick holders. What a hidden gem!!!! They have only been around for nine months. I came here with a client for lunch today, first time here for the both of us. They have a lunch special and we both got their nigiri and sashimi lunch special. Five pieces of nigiri and five sashimi chef's choice. It was awesome!!!!! The sushi was good and fresh. The crunchy taco sushi's were really good. I liked the crunchiness of the seaweed. We got our food pretty fast except they forgot two of our orders but once we told them we got it pretty fast. Desserts were ok. Something to try at least once. Perks: for every $100 you spend you get to pick jewelry from a shelf they have which includes necklaces, bracelets and rings. Also they have a stamp card for every sushi roll you order. Looking for a quick bite, we stopped by Shin Sushi, tucked inside a strip mall near DVC. The inside is cute, and it seems pretty new to the neighborhood. Our waitress was friendly, which made the experience pleasant right away. We went straight for the lunch menu and ordered a roll along with some sake. The food came out quickly, which was perfect since we were just looking for something fast. I've been to Shin Sushi twice now and would gladly go back. One small but thoughtful touch: they sell their own house soju sauce, and there's a cup of ginger on the table so you can take as much -- or as little as you want. It's a simple detail, but it prevents waste and lets you control your plate instead of automatically getting a pile you didn't ask for. Overall, the sushi was very good. My personal benchmark for "amazing" sushi is when I take a bite and think, "This is the best ___ I've ever had." Shin had one or two pieces that hit that level, and everything else was solidly good across the board. The texture was right, the fish was clean, and the execution was consistent. I ordered the Shin Moriawase (12 pieces of assorted sashimi and 6 pieces of chef-selected nigiri for $55.95). Comparable sushi in San Francisco or other major cities would easily run 50% more. Stopped by today for lunch with my daughter after school (DVC) and holy moly we are so happy to have stumbled upon this restaurant. When we walked in, we were blown away with how clean and stylish the place was. The cat theme was absolutely precious! The service was 5/5 and the food was triple that. I had the shin roll which hands down is my new favorite roll, so I have to come back here forever to fulfill that craving. My daughter got the chicken katsu lunch bento and it was cooked to perfection and came with a scoop of matcha ice cream at the end, which was a happy way to end the meal. Sushi is always quality and there hasn't been anything we've ordered that we were disappointed with. there aren't many tables, but I haven't seen people having to wait too long when all tables are filled (probably because this place isn't too well-known yet). Still, always very clean and such cute decor. The owner is always so nice to us when we come. We have a daughter and when we go there she knows to ask for coloring pages that the restaurant provides. My favorite is the salmon nigiri (basic, I know) but the salmon is always SO buttery--it's almost ruined every other salmon nigiri I get anywhere else. Really impressed by the quality here. They don't use lower grade frozen tuna or salmon, and you can taste the difference. They even use bluefin tuna in their rolls, and the nori crunch is out of this world!! The owner is incredibly sweet and takes pride in what she serves. She uses two grades of salmon, top grade for sushi and second grade for kitchen items only. The salmon was super fresh and flavorful. I was craving Japanese food while we were running errands in Concord and found Shin Sushi that had a great rating so we decided to give it a try and it was so worth it. The restaurant is clean and decorated well. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the service was exceptional just like the food. Shin Sushi is located in the more low-key part of Pleasant Hill. We found the restaurant through Yelp while we were across the freeway at the Veranda. It was pretty quiet on a Tuesday night. Only one other table with patrons when we arrived and left. Clean establishment with some TVs up behind the sushi chef. My opinion of the food was really split between the fish and non-fish items. I was happy with the omakase, chirashi, and generally anything with fish. It was fresh and well-portioned. Nitpicking, but would have liked a little more rice with the chirashi. There were two items we didn't particularly care for. The pork katsu was a bit on the tough side (not juicy). I saw other reviewers saying they liked the chicken katsu, so maybe it was an off night. The karaage did not meet expectations. It's often double fried, leading to an extra crispy exterior. The coating on these were soft and a little doughy. Tried this place for the first time and its located where the old Quickly's boba spot was in Pleasant Hill. Good amount of parking and easy to find. The server was super sweet and she gave us her recommendations. The sushi was super fresh and beautifully prepared. The beef teriyaki was soft and perfectly cooked. She continued to check in on ur through out our meal. The menu was 4 pages long and I think if it was placed in a book it may be easier to navigate. It was a lot of information so could feel overwhelming as a first timer. That is my only suggestion. I think if we didn't ask for recommendations it would take forever to go through the menu, there was a ton on the table coming in and needing to figure out what everything is. My family and I dined here and were instantly greeted warmly. Our server was so pleasant and nice and patient. She even brought out kids menus with markers and crayons. We came for a late lunch/early dinner and it was nice and quiet, but more guests did start arriving as dinner time came closer. The music was VERY CUTE and made us giggle and feel happy bc we could tell the songs were all about sushi and sashimi and other Japanese foods. We ordered miso soup, gyoza, a kids bento with katsu chicken, a chirashi don, a volcano nori crunch and a GTR roll. The fish was fresh with great texture and taste. Came here after watching a movie at the Pleasant Hill Century Theatre. Overall, this is NOT the tip top highest quality sushi place. Don't expect to get the best sashimi that will blow your mind. What it IS, is a very well priced tasty roll shop. They're all very decently priced (~$15 for a deluxe roll) and decently sized to fill you up. I would argue, they don't have any rolls that stand out. They're almost all a Cali Roll base with something on top or some modificiation of all these things. Ultimately though, it's pretty dang good. Decided to try out this new sushi place for a late lunch and I'm glad I did. This place recently opened a few weeks ago. It's clean and the service was excellent it's also family and kid friendly. The food was presented nicely and tasted good. Ordered Edamame with garlic to start and shrimp and veggies tempura appetizer, it was crispy and cooked perfectly the best I've had in a long time 10/10 wasn't fond of the unagi hand roll because it was tough to bite into the seaweed! Excellent Sushi! I have now had 6 total rolls from Shin Sushi and I couldn't be happier! Overall the rice and fish taste really fresh! Inside of the place looks brand new. Both times I have come in I am still surprised it isn't super busy! My kiddo devours the avocado roll which for our family is an extremely rare thing! It's refreshing because it allows us to get our sushi fix! The only issue is the miso soup. It's awful! I am kinda shocked that it's not nearly in par with the sushi. Family of 3 visited on an early Sunday evening. It's got really cute cat decor and a looping soundtrack of someone singing about sushi. Not annoying, but obvious. Food was good. We ordered a number of rolls and I got the 6 piece sushi sampler. The staff was friendly. The menu had a lot of seasonal limited time items. They also have HH deals going on (but not during the time we went which is totally ok). I also appreciate the smaller half rolls so we could try more things. Service was really slow. We ordered 7 different items and it took well over 40 minutes for the first time to arrive. I think this wouldn't have been so obvious if they had brought us at least one item to eat while we waited for the rest. The restaurant wasn't packed... so I wonder what the hold up was. If you are in the area give it a try. I think once they've opened a bit longer they'll probably be speedier. read more

Seems like a brand new restaurant and it's located in a quiet plaza in Pleasant Hill. We came for a relatively early dinner, 5:45pm on a Saturday evening and there were two other tables present. The restaurant is small, but well-kept and clean. We ordered 3 specialty rolls: Pleasant Hill, Paper Albacore, and the Ocean Breeze. The fish was fresh and the rolls were on the smaller slide, but matched the prices on the menu. Service was on the slower side, but they looked understaff. It took 30 minutes for our rolls to come out and we weren't offered small plates to share. It wasn't until we were done with our roll that we were able to flag down the server for plates for the next two rolls. read more
