Ming's has become one of those rare places we genuinely look forward to, almost once a week lol :P The food is incredibly high quality, tasty, and just plain yummy. The flavors are mouthwatering every time, and somehow the broccoli is always cooked perfectly. Crisp, tender, vibrant, and never overdone, which honestly says a lot. What really keeps us coming back, though, is the service. It goes above and beyond in a way that still catches me off guard. Here, they really try to work around your schedule, and that small detail says a lot. One small note, just to be fair... when ordering for pickup, and even once during pickup, my wife felt the person at the door was a little brisk with her. She jokingly compared it to dealing with a car dealership, in regards to their "attitude" with her. I've never personally had that experience, so apparently I'm the designated pickup person now. And they always give my daughter an extra fortune cookie IF/while we're waiting so... that's a plus, for my daughter lol!! Even with that, we keep coming back because the food is just that good. In my opinion, the food has always been good since my first time here, everything I tried from the honey walnut prawns to the chow mein to the fried rice to the steamed rice he list goes on... the food is always hot even when you order it to go! The lunch specials are fantastic soup, egg role, rice and entree and none more than $15 pp. Tonight was quite busy and I decided to eat in. My tea and water brought right away. I ordered the black bean beef chow fun and salt & pepper fish. I didn't take a photo as I just dived in. The beef in the chow fun was flavorful and fork tender. The chow fun includes bell pepper, onions, red chiles, I loved it! They make salt &pepper calamari, fish and shrimp. All are delicious and not too spicy. Very good basic Cantonese food, very fresh and presented in an appealing way. It's a small cozy place, nicely decorated, and is located in a shopping area with plenty of parking. I had the lunch special, fish fillets with bitter melon in black bean sauce. It's one of my favorites! You don't often find this and I was so happy to see it on the lunch menu! Hubby had the beef chow fun which was solid. The service here is great. The staff is very nice and very accommodating. Hubby was just getting out of an appointment nearby and I told them he wouldn't get here until 5 minutes before closing but they said to have him come anyway, they would cook up his food now and to take his time. We use to love this place. My wife and kid wanted Chinese for lunch so we went to Mings. Good deals on lunch special but my wife found a dead cockroach in her Mongolian beef. There is a bit of a language barrier so I had trouble conveying what was found in her food. Our actual waiter came by and we let him know. He took the plate and refunded her dish and apologized but honestly that was it for us. We wont be coming back. read more

First time here and the food was pretty solid. Started with the West Lake minced beef soup and also had the beef chow fun and the shrimp with lobster sauce. The soup might have been the best version I have had - small bits of carrot, water chestnuts, and mushrooms made every spoonful delicious. The beef chow fun had a good wok hei flavor. We went to Ming's in Pleasant Hill after seeing many great reviews. The restaurant's appearance is very nice, both outside and inside. We stopped in to try their weekend lunch specials. The staff was very friendly and quickly refilled our tea kettle with hot water. The Sweet and Sour Soup was a great start. My Crispy Ginger Chicken was excellent, though I did ask for extra spicy sauce to give it more heat. My wife loved her Yu Shaing Chicken. The restaurant is super clean and well decorated. Mings is a classic for a reason! Been ages since I have dined in. Great fast service with classic American Chinese dishes. We started with pot stickers and sizzling rice soup (my fav). Their crab ragoons are also great! The Mongolian beef could have been spicer but was good. Love the garlic chicken and broccoli with white sauce. Their fried rice has tons of flavor. May 31 2025 3.5 Stars My Son has been braging about Ming's so here we go. We ordered like four typical Americans. The Hits: 1) It is a small clean shop. Two bathrooms. Fast service. Not noisy (aside from my wife). The food servings look beautiful. 2) Hot and Sour Soup. As good as the best. Suprise! It has shrimp. 3) Honey Walnut Prawns-delicious. A large serving of plump prawns with plenty to share. Has walnuts up the Ying Yang. 4) House Special Fried Rice. Nothing special here but near as good as any I've had. The Misses: 1) Sweet and Sour Pork. Smallish pieces of somewhat dry pork with dry breading. Chewy. The sauce is not very sweet and seems a bit vinegary to me. 3) Salt and Pepper Calamari. Too crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. We asked for some sauce to try and save it to avail. 4) They put the rush on us to eat faster. The waitress spilled soup on the table and my plate in the process of pouring our soup unasked.. 5) Something made me feel uneasy both mentally and physically after eating here. I'm guessing msg but that's just a guess. 6) The waiter awkwardly holds and runs your payment credit card in front of you. He watches while asking electronically for a large percentage tip. You need to choose "custom tip" and then $0.00 if you want to leave cash like we do. I visited this restaurant for the 1st time approximately 1 month ago. I had lunch with my sister/friend. She recommend them. I originally wanted to go to Chef Choy in Pleasant Hill. She wanted to go here instead, so we did. The restaurant was nice and clean. The staff was very nice, inviting, acknowledged us right away, seated us. It took us awhile to decide what to order, as I had never had their food previously. We decided to get 2 orders of the Walnut Chicken, one with Chow Mein and one with Fried Rice, Spring Roll, Egg Rolls and Soup Of The Day: Hot & Sour and share the sides. I also ordered Tea. They took our order, brought it out in a timely manner. The food arrived hot. The Walnut Chicken was Nice and Crispy on the outside, tender inside. The Fried rice was mainly Rice with a few pieces veggies, and a pinch of egg. The Chow Mein literally had "1" minute piece of in it. And all you could taste was the Noodles and Grease, no seasoning. The Soup was a bit weird didn't taste as good as I have had elsewhere, but I ate it anyway. My sister/friend took one spoon of the soup, never touched it or the tea again. The portions were good, too much for us in one sitting. We decided to get the rest to go and add seasoning/Doctor it up at home. I attempted to reheat and eat mine the following day and it was GROSS !!!! Good Leftover Chinese Food can be reheated the next day and taste even better. Because the seasoning has sat on it for a while....Not This Stuff, I didn't even try the Egg Roll, it smelled funny. I ended up round filing all of it. I really wish we had gone to Chef Choy, their service, ambiance always great, the food was always consistent and delicious. Now Chef Choy has closed permanently. I Will NEVER go back to Ming's!!!!! They get a five for their food as they always have, they get a five for their service. And just for the niceness of the staff. Finally made it to Mings! Went for lunch, the hype is real. We shared the crab bites, ginger chicken and some fried rice. Everything was fresh and delicious. The fried rice was light and fluffy, the ginger chicken coating was crispy and the chicken tender and juicy. Flavors popped. My atmosphere rating is because the restaurant was very noisy due to a very large birthday party, so hopefully when I go to try other items it will be quieter. My food has been pretty good! Only one time where the vegetables all burned, and the how fun was super dry. But they ended up bringing me another order to my home which I did not expect. I had just called to let them know that perhaps something went wrong? I had never gotten there food that was actually "burnt "they apologized and the owner brought me a whole new order. I rarely ever leave reviews, but my experience here was bad enough that I feel the community should know. I ordered four dishes to go for my family, and honestly, every single one was a disappointment. The wonton soup was not even properly cooked -- the wontons were raw inside, which flavored the entire broth as raw flour. One of the meat dishes had vegetables that were barely cooked and chicken that was soggy instead of crisp. The chow mein was bland and completely forgettable. What upset me the most is that after eating, my whole family felt sick. When you spend good money on takeout, you expect food that's safe, properly cooked, and enjoyable. This was none of those things. I walked away feeling frustrated, upset, and like our money was wasted. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because right now I couldn't recommend it to anyone. What to do with the leftover food - which still has a decent amount of food left? What happened!?!? This place used to be good. I quit coming after the rat infestation a few years back. Same nice owner. Ming is awesome. I don't like writing this review but I feel it a duty. When I called in my order the woman was in such a hurry to get to the next item she cut me off when I was still saying the item name with umhmm, ok. She didn't get my order correct. That is not important. Bring back quality ingredients and a decent chef. I ordered 7 items. Mostly shrimp and noodles. All the food was bland. I appreciate that it wasn't salty but it all tasted like nothing except for the raw noodle taste on the wonton soup, chow fun and Hunan breaded shrimp. The salt and pepper shrimp had no flavor or spice at all. The shrimp was tiny and hard. It tasted like cheap, tiny farmed overseas shrimp. Not prawns at all! The chow fun and chow main tasted strongly of dish soap. Maybe in a collander in the dish sink!?!?!? Out of 6 of us, nobody could finish their first plate. Waste of money and the first time in my life I didn't save Chinese takeout for the next day. Also no to go soy, hot sauce, chopsticks, etc. Go to Yans Garden up the street if you want something in the area. I know labor and ingredient prices are up... but this place will be gone soon like this. Return things the way they were Ming! Please. We have been looking for a local Chinese restaurant for the last few months. I found Ming's on Google Maps, and thought we would give it a try. I'm very glad we did. First, the gentleman that took the phone order was pleasant, and took the order, and repeated it back. When I went to pick it up, the Resturant was clean and welcoming both inside and out. The dining room was about 1/2 full, but the steady stream of takeout orders seemed to never end. The staff kept me updated on when my order would be out. When we sat down to eat, the food was delicious, still hot (I took it back to Walnut Creek), smelled great, and tasted even better. The price wasn't too bad considering the price of food now. This is an excellent Chinese restaurant. I met some friends here for lunch and it was great. The ambiance in the restaurant is wonderful. The wait staff are attentive and helpful. The food was delicious. We all ordered from the lunch menu; it is one of the rare Chinese restaurants that offers their lunch menu on Saturdays. I had tofu with deluxe vegetables and steamed rice, one friend ordered sesame chicken and chow mein, and the other friend ordered Kung Pao chicken and chow mein. They ordered Arnold Palmers and I ordered hot tea; my hot tea came in a clear tea pot so I could see the blooming tea ball expand. Everything was lovely. We will definitely be back. read more

Great spot for Chinese food. Found this little gem while shopping in the area. We had a short wait, 3 to 5 minutes, when arriving towards the end of the lunch rush.
