Winner winner , Mongolian beef dinner ! This is a great find. Old school Chinese done Well. Not a fancy spot but clean and a super Busy take out business was going on. Prices Were reasonable and big portions for the food. Service was friendly and fast. The waitress made some good recommendations too. We like to try lots of stuff so we ordered enough to have a second dinner tomorrow The reason 5 stars...drum roll....Flavor Bomb! It was sooo good! read more

Wow. Horrible. How could we have 4.3 stars?! Sesame chicken, no vegetables whatsoever. No sesame seeds. Tastes like peanut butter. Restaurant owners are lucky im not allergic to peanuts. Wife got lemon chicken, tastes exactly the same as my sesame chicken, which is pretty much just rice vinegar and white sugar. Spring rolls maybe the blandest most boring thing Ive ever had. Hy cow, i can't believe how bad this food is! Will NEVER get food here again. Damn. Its sooooooooo bad. read more

I honestly wasn't expecting much, but the reviews seemed somewhat promising. I ordered through their online website and it was very straightforward. You actually pay for your order when you get to the store, which I would be worried for them if people place orders and don't show up. I ended up ordering Basil Eggplant with Chicken and Prawns, as well as Deluxe Chow Fun. The bag was fairly compact when I picked it up - two plastic containers of the dishes. When I opened up the container, they were overfilling! I'd say very generous portions for the price. -Basil Eggplant with Chicken and Prawns: I don't feel like this is a really traditional Chinese dish, maybe a bit more Thai, but it was delicious! I also wasn't expecting the sauce to be as red as it was. This dish had a lot of basil which I liked, and a lot of flavor. There was a good amount of protein. -Deluxe Chow Fun: Pretty good, the noodles were soft and bouncy, good amount of flavor, and also lots of protein. Service during pickup was friendly. When I was there, it seemed like the restaurant is popular, with both diners and people coming in to pickup their to-go orders. This is a very solid place for Chinese food! read more

Bamboo Garden is a Chinese restaurant located in the Village Oaks Shopping Center in Martinez. I got a tip from a Yelp Elite friend that I should come try this place. This is a nice restaurant. It's clean and neat. Spacious dining room with lots of tables. I was told the bar is leftover from the previous owners. So I don't know if they serve all that wine that's on display. The customer service is outstanding here. I was at Bamboo Garden on a Tuesday, at around 4:30pm. It was about 73*F. My server asked if I would like Iced Tea, which BTW isn't on the menu. This place has an extensive menu, but I ordered one of my favorite dishes......Tomato Beef Chow Mein- Hong Kong (HK) Style. My server took the time to explain to me what I was ordering. I said YES, that's what I want. The presentation was very nice. Chopped veggies, sliced beef, and thick gravy on top of a crispy pancake of thin fried noodles. She even served me the first portion. However, they put too much sugar in the sauce, and the chow mein was sweet. It was okay, but not the way I like it. I would like to return and try the Wor Won Ton Soup. ------------------------------------ Notes: Open Daily, but closed 2:30-3:30pm. -- Men and Women restrooms, no All Gender -- Free parking read more

Came her for lunch and was not disappointed! We ordered the lunch specials for general chicken and mapo tofu. Delicious!!! The hot and sour soup was also perfect! Portions were great because we got so full we had to take the rest home. Service was fast and friendly. There are plenty of tables inside and ample parking outside. I would definitely come again! read more

Everyone was nice inside and that was mainly it. The food on the other hand, not sure why anyone has rated this place 4.3 because that is way too generous. We got the bbq pork fried rice which was missing flavor 4.1/10, salt & pepper fish was decent not greasy but missing salt n pepper 5.7/10, crazy horse beef *which is not spicy at all! Claims to be super spicy, meat is tender and sort of flavorful 6/10, szechuan dumplings which we assumed were spicy but had a very interesting sauce definitely nothing we had tasted before 4.2/10 read more

A solid 4. This is my son's favorite Chinese to get take out. They make gluten free ordering easy for his wife. Mom and I dined in for lunch yesterday. It is big and quiet in there, so conversations are far from private. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was good. Not outstanding. A good experience. read more

Great authentic Chinese food and huge portions ! Always busy so be sure to call before rush hour

As always the food is top tier! I was eating with a broken tooth, so I had to keep my choices pretty soft. The Mongolian beef is one of my favorites. Tender beef, I got mine medium spicy, and chow mein. Delicious. I was definitely party of the "clean plate club" as my mom would've said. I took home some lemon chicken with fried rice and an order of egg rolls. All of it was fantastic. 10/10 every time. read more

Decor is very simple and we were waited on right away, restaurant was half full possibly during lunch hour. Only problem I had was all our dishes came out one at a time and took a while to get all four of us our meals. My co-worker was almost done, the time I got my food, maybe it's made nice , hot and fresh? I ordered honey walnut prawns, they were big and tasty, but I have had really delicious ones elsewhere, portions are on smaller side too, usually I can bring half of my food home, but at here, it was just enough to finish in one setting. read more

Small restaurant in a busy shopping center. We were a group of 13 and were the only people eating in. There was a lot of people coming in for their take away orders. We ordered a lot of different dishes! 2 types of pot stickers, 3 prawn dishes, chow mein, fried rice, hot & sour soup, 2 different beef dishes, chicken and fish! Everything I tried was good! You have to a have decent hot & sour soup if you serve chinese food! It wasn't the best I've had, but it was good! The dumplings with Szechuan sauce were tasty and not over the top spicy. Very Good! The Mongolian beef and Hot & Spicy Beef with garlic were very good. I'll order these everytime! The beef was tender and good quality. We ordered the Orange chicken without spicy. The orange flavor was there! This is another dish I'd order every time. The Salt & Pepper Prawns & fish were awesome! Fresh, fried prawns and fish well-seasoned! The service was excellent! The food was out quickly! I'll be back! Cheers - Eric read more

One of the better Chinese restaurants that I've been to in a while. All the dishes we ordered were very good. BBQ Fried Rice, HK style Chow Mein and Kung Pao Chicken were excellent. Maybe I was expecting more from the Kung Fu Fish but that was just ok. Portions here huge for the price. Servers were friendly. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes. read more

this used to be my go to Chinese restaurant. Went there for lunch today and it was absolutely horrible. you have to pay extra as has always been for the chow mein but now it's just noodles not a drop of any kind of vegetable and the prices have gone up also. I asked the waitress why no vegetables in the chow mein and she could not give me a straight answer. The shrimp were awful, and the chow mein noodles had no flavor whatsoever. I won't be back, and I have been a frequent customer. read more

Came here about a week ago. We have a go to when my family and I order Chinese food and it was closed this particular day. So we looked around to see what were our other options and came across Bamboo Garden. Glad we did because the food was good. We ordered quit a few items and all were tasty and good. We ordered online and the service was fast and prompt only had to wait a few minutes from actual pickup time but that was OK no problem at all. The ambiance inside was nice, it felt comfy and it was a nice size inside not too big or small. So would go back and eat inside restaurant at another time. Again first time here and wont be the last. Cant believe it took us this long to try out Bamboo Garden being I live in Martinez. Would and will recommend Bamboo Garden to anyone who is looking for some good Chinese food. read more

I love Bamboo Garden! I used to go here for lunch when I worked nearby. The restaurant is located in Martinez in a shopping center filled with other small restaurants. But this one is definitely my go-to when I want good Chinese food for an affordable price. Parking is never an issue and the restaurant fits about 50 customers. The employees at this establishment are really friendly. They even get to know you to the point where they know what dishes you like if you come there a lot...like me. Sometimes it gets busy during lunch and sometimes you see one waiter on the floor. Despite their busy hours, they do find the time to make sure they get your order in and out as soon as possible. My favorite lunch dish is the scrambled eggs with prawns with brown rice. My secondary favorite dish is the Mongolian beef and fried rice. The hot and sour soup and egg flower soup taste amazing in my opinion. Unfortunately, I got promoted at a different department and I no longer work nearby. Luckily, they do DoorDash so now I'm able to order from Bamboo Garden through DoorDash. I still order the scrambled eggs with prawns lol. Even when I do order and if they run out of something, for example, brown rice, they take the time to call to let you know and offer other options. 5 stars for me. I might even go there for lunch today. Price range for lunch specials: $10-13 (DoorDash) It's probably cheaper when you dine in. read more

Bamboo Garden completely surprised us, in the best way. Every single dish we've tried so far has been a total winner. The Mongolian lamb deserves a special shoutout. It's incredibly tender, perfectly seasoned, and has that deep, savory richness that makes you keep going back for "just one more bite." The prawns with lobster sauce are phenomenal, plump, juicy prawns coated in a silky, flavorful sauce that feels comforting and indulgent without being heavy. You can really taste the care in the cooking. If you're looking for a great spot to eat, this place is a must. We're already planning our next visit. read more

I am chinese. Chinese food has many different categories. Amongst this category of cuinese food this place does a good job. Food is flavorful and delicious. For example the hot and sour soup they added green onions which balanced the flavor well. Food is just a tad pricy. This place is so good. I wanted Chinese food and was always slightly disappointed with what I had gotten around here. I somehow landed on Bamboo Garden and wow. This is what I've been looking for. The BBQ pork fried rice is so delicious and the portion is huge. I got that and vegetable egg foo young. I got 5 meals out of it. My roommate got one of the lunch specials and mentioned it about 3 times this week. So here we sit a week later having more of it. I got beef with snow peas and she got sweet and sour chicken lunches. Great food, great portions, great price. Try it!! read more

We really enjoy bamboo garden. Great and fresh local Chinese takeout. I do always see a lot of people dining in so I will have to try that out one time as well. Every time we come, we definitely get the honey walnut prawns, and they are always really yummy. I really like that they offer a dinner combo, you can pick one entrée and you get either chow mein or rice with it. They also always give me an eggroll with it. A few areas they could improve: - never include soy sauce or chili oil in my delivery orders - this week my fried rice came only with egg in it? No veggies?! Weird (pic added) - sometimes the fried stuff tastes like its been in older oil... might need a refresh. Overall, very reliable chinese. Hot, fast and constantly good! read more

Came here on a whim with my family after I strongly craved tomato beef chow mein. Let me tell you that I was not disappointed at all. We came during an early dinner hour. The inside wasn't packed only because most people were ordering takeout. The ambience was nice, and the inside was nicely decorated and welcoming. We ordered an assortment of dishes: Tomato beef chow mein - This was my favorite dish out of the bunch. The delicious sauce evenly coated the noodles, and the beef was tender. We were so impressed and obsessed with it that we placed two to go orders of it. Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet - Also one of my favorite dishes from our order. Even with the sauce, the fish fillet retained a savory crisp that melted in my mouth with each bite. Black Mushroom with Bamboo Shoots - My favorite part about this dish is the texture. The chewy texture of the mushrooms mixed with the slight crunch of the bamboo shoots made for a nice combo. A perfect accompaniment to the other entrees. Overall, I'm more than satisfied with my experience here. Glad I can count on this place for quality food. read more

I can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review of this place, I guess I just kept forgetting. Anyway, I've eaten here several times, both dine-in and take-away. The restaurant itself is typical Chinese restaurant decor and it's very clean. The employees are hard working. Each time I've ordered To-go food, it has always been ready on time or before the promised time. The quality of the food...delicious! For those of us that prefer vegetarian options, they have a ton. The quantity is that I usually have enough for 2-3 meals , depending on how hungry I am. Do I recommend this place? Yes, yes I do. read more

They serve the tastiest veggie chicken I've ever tried. They have Mongolian, lemon, orange, general those and sesame veggie chicken. We tried the sesame veggie chicken which came with a flavourful sesame sauce that was reminiscent of praram. The portions here are beyond generous, basically about double the size of Berkeley entrees. The veggie chow main costs $11.95 and was about triple the size of most restaurants. It included zucchini chunks which were fresh. Benson, who works here, is very hospitable. This restaurant is a gem. Worth the drive to Martinez. read more

Always good food and big portions. My favorite dish is the Tomato Beef Chow Mein--brings me back to my childhood. Their Walnut Shrimp is good as well.
