Bamboo Garden is a Chinese restaurant located in the Village Oaks Shopping Center in Martinez. I got a tip from a Yelp Elite friend that I should come try this place. This is a nice restaurant. It's clean and neat. Spacious dining room with lots of tables. I was told the bar is leftover from the previous owners. So I don't know if they serve all that wine that's on display. The customer service is outstanding here. I was at Bamboo Garden on a Tuesday, at around 4:30pm. It was about 73*F. My server asked if I would like Iced Tea, which BTW isn't on the menu. This place has an extensive menu, but I ordered one of my favorite dishes......Tomato Beef Chow Mein- Hong Kong (HK) Style. My server took the time to explain to me what I was ordering. I said YES, that's what I want. The presentation was very nice. Chopped veggies, sliced beef, and thick gravy on top of a crispy pancake of thin fried noodles. She even served me the first portion. However, they put too much sugar in the sauce, and the chow mein was sweet. It was okay, but not the way I like it. I would like to return and try the Wor Won Ton Soup. ------------------------------------ Notes: Open Daily, but closed 2:30-3:30pm. -- Men and Women restrooms, no All Gender -- Free parking

Always a great experience. Good reusable takeout containers. My favorite was Mongolian 3 combo. Nice spice level without being overpowering.

A solid 4. This is my son's favorite Chinese to get take out. They make gluten free ordering easy for his wife. Mom and I dined in for lunch yesterday. It is big and quiet in there, so conversations are far from private. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was good. Not outstanding. A good experience.

Small restaurant in a busy shopping center. We were a group of 13 and were the only people eating in. There was a lot of people coming in for their take away orders. We ordered a lot of different dishes! 2 types of pot stickers, 3 prawn dishes, chow mein, fried rice, hot & sour soup, 2 different beef dishes, chicken and fish! Everything I tried was good! You have to a have decent hot & sour soup if you serve chinese food! It wasn't the best I've had, but it was good! The dumplings with Szechuan sauce were tasty and not over the top spicy. Very Good! The Mongolian beef and Hot & Spicy Beef with garlic were very good. I'll order these everytime! The beef was tender and good quality. We ordered the Orange chicken without spicy. The orange flavor was there! This is another dish I'd order every time. The Salt & Pepper Prawns & fish were awesome! Fresh, fried prawns and fish well-seasoned! The service was excellent! The food was out quickly! I'll be back! Cheers - Eric

One of the better Chinese restaurants that I've been to in a while. All the dishes we ordered were very good. BBQ Fried Rice, HK style Chow Mein and Kung Pao Chicken were excellent. Maybe I was expecting more from the Kung Fu Fish but that was just ok. Portions here huge for the price. Servers were friendly. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes.

We only go on the days that he works which I believe is weekdays only! OUR FAVORITES: Appetizers: - Crab rangoons!!!!! - Szechwan dumplings Mains: - Chow mein - Chicken with Mixed Vegetables - Honey Walnut Shrimp - Tomato Beef Chow Mein (this is different but good! give it a try! it's sweet) - Hot and sour soup

Mongolian beef but where's the beef????? It's mostly all onions and sauce. Never will I order this!! Please the cheap us.

Wow! Where's the beef for my Mongolian Beef dish! It's all onions and green onions over sauce! Never will I order this dish again! I'm disappointed I got robbed of my beef!!!

I love Bamboo Garden! I used to go here for lunch when I worked nearby. The restaurant is located in Martinez in a shopping center filled with other small restaurants. But this one is definitely my go-to when I want good Chinese food for an affordable price. Parking is never an issue and the restaurant fits about 50 customers. The employees at this establishment are really friendly. They even get to know you to the point where they know what dishes you like if you come there a lot...like me. Sometimes it gets busy during lunch and sometimes you see one waiter on the floor. Despite their busy hours, they do find the time to make sure they get your order in and out as soon as possible. My favorite lunch dish is the scrambled eggs with prawns with brown rice. My secondary favorite dish is the Mongolian beef and fried rice. The hot and sour soup and egg flower soup taste amazing in my opinion. Unfortunately, I got promoted at a different department and I no longer work nearby. Luckily, they do DoorDash so now I'm able to order from Bamboo Garden through DoorDash. I still order the scrambled eggs with prawns lol. Even when I do order and if they run out of something, for example, brown rice, they take the time to call to let you know and offer other options. 5 stars for me. I might even go there for lunch today. Price range for lunch specials: $10-13 (DoorDash) It's probably cheaper when you dine in.

We also ordered the turnip cakes, shu mai, chicken feet, honey walnut shrimp, and sticky rice in lotus leaf (which they did not cheap out on and loaded it with Chinese sausage and salted egg, which most places leave out). Believe it or not, the highlight of our meal was their water. Their water has a clean, refreshing, lemony essence to it, so it just goes to show you how much they value attention to details.

Whether you're in town for jury duty, work, or play, here is a good lunch spot. I walked into Aberdeen Café during the lunch hour. Booths lined the wall on one side, and the bar was on the other. Korean pop music played softly while other customers ate lunch. I was seated at the booth and was served a glass of water to start. I got the #2015 Salt and Pepper Fish Filet lunch special with hot and sour soup of the day, egg roll, and substituted-in fried rice. I was served the hot and sour soup first. It was a wonderful appetizer. The classic spicy pepper and sour vinegar were balanced. The bits of crunchy mushroom and soft tofu added interest and texture to the thick broth. This was comfort in a bowl. The entree was delicious. The fried fish was hot off the wok when it arrived, steaming on the plate along with fried rice, broccoli, an egg roll, and some sweet and sour sauce. I enjoyed the fish; the heat of the jalapeno slices and the salt elevated the light crispiness and mild sweetness of the fish. The fried rice was light and fluffy with bits of egg. The sauteed broccoli had a solid crunch, and the vegetable egg roll was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This was a good, satisfying lunch at Aberdeen Café. When I'm in the mood for comforting Cantonese food again, I'll be back for more.

Over the last couple years I've been trying to start it earlier and earlier during the holidays so that I don't feel horrible after Jan 1st. I realize Im getting older and I just want to eat more healthy meals at home in general. Because of that, I decided to stop making like 95% I used to make. Orange Chicken and Beef Chow Fun was part of that list This meal was supposed to be one of the last times I ate this meal and while it wasn't bad, I definitely felt just a tad disappointed with the quality. First off, respect for using thighs for the chicken. I feel like chicken breasts are doable but I feel like ultimately chicken thighs are the way to go for Orange Chicken. I really think that chicken breasts should just be reserved for something like Lemon Chicken. I also like that they give you a good amount of chicken too. A tiny more than I normally expect. Or at least thats how it felt. The flavor wasn't bad either but I the texture wasn't the best. Lots of the breading on the pieces were coming off easily which isn't the end of the world but it just felt like a single fried was used instead of a double fry for extra crispy. Not saying that happened but thats just what it felt like. It could have also been that it was sitting at the restaurant longer than usual. Im guessing it was the latter since I ordered DoorDash. I also ordered the Beef Chow Fun. It was fine but just overall found the sauce lacking. Same deal with the Potstickers. The texture was fine but flavor was just ok. I was really excited to try these too since it seemed like a favorite in town. But they were just ok imo. I honestly just felt like a lot of food just was rushed a little. The interesting thing though is this place also does sushi too so Im curious if their Japanese part of the menu maybe better than their Chinese side? Or Vise versa. Hard to say but I do want to try them again soon.
