This place is fantastic! I highly recommend their hot and spicy garlic sauce. It has a warmth, rather than an overt heat and a rich depth to its flavor. I'm also a big fan of their BBQ Pork Chow Main. The staff is always friendly, and my order is always right. This is the place to go if you're anywhere close by in Martinez. They're very close to the Morello Ave. offramp off Hwy. 4, so takeout is pretty easy. read more

With all my due respect to the hospitality and deliciousness of this kitchen - kudos to the chef! - I'm downgrading this place to 4 stars with hope to see some renovation soon. Other then that, here you go: From the moment we've entered, our team was greeted with respect and offered seating (yes, it was about 2 PM on Tuesday, so it was not busy). We've noticed that customers kept coming and going on average 3 to 4 tables occupied for inside dining, and that's outside the fact that in one hour they've served over 20-30 to-go customers including cool guy in a wheelchair in no time, in-n-out just providing your cell phone number and picking up pre-packed lunch. Our dishes served at no time steaming fresh with Green Sautéed String Beans standing out over Cumin Lamb. House Fried Rice, if you are to order one, will fill you and two more accompanying friends. Dumplings with Szechwan Sauce from Chef were soooo juicy to die for. Make sure to kill 'em while they hot. Service - there's no way you gonna be ignored! This private owned biz has the stile in serving fast and with the smile. Just don't waste time. On top all of that you'll be pleasantly surprised with the bill, that's cheaper then some fast food restaurants. Overall we glad that we've discovered this gem, that's so close to our home. Server / Front desk lady "Ada" is disrespectful and rude. Forces people to give a tip and disrespects you if you don't even for pick up orders. She also is always coughing on every time me and my husband go in, and rarely covers her mouth. She needs to learn basic manners on how to speak to people and hygiene. read more

The service is subpar. The mature lady with short hair and glasses has an attitude and does not have any customer / people skills. She comes off as a snob and like a miserable person who does jot want to be there. I understand this restaurant has been opened for many years but that does not excuse the snarky attitude of your servers. Bamboo Garden, Martinez We ordered take-out tonight, the Hunan dinner for four, and also the House Special Chow Mein. It was ready 5 minutes early, in 25 minutes. This dinner is listed as: $18.95 Per Person. Fried Spring Roll, Hot & Sour Soup, Mongolian Beef, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Steamed Rice. For 3 add Kung Pao Three Combo (Chicken, fish and shrimp). For 4 add Honey Walnut Shrimp. Mongolian beef was somewhat spicy-hot but good. My wife can't eat spicy. Sweet and Sour chicken had very good flavor. Kung Pau three combo was very yummy, but spicy, YES! Honey Walnut shrimp was AWESOME, crisp with a slight crunch to the honey-glazed shell, and a soft perfectly done prawn inside. I try to get a bit of the honey-walnut with each bite of shrimp...oh my! The white rice was light and fluffy-perfect, a welcome partner for each course. I normally am not a huge eater of Hot and Sour soup, but this was rich and very flavorful. I also had a cold and crisp Sierra NevadaTorpedo Extra IPA or two, to escort each change of flavor into the testing chamber (my mouth), just to cleanse the old pallete of course, and prepare it for the next flavor experience. The extra order of House Special Chow Mein had good flavor and had a little chicken, beef and prawns, no vegetables that I saw. L ike the rice, it was great to mix with one of the other dishes. Noodles were nicely done, not dry. Even the spring rolls were nicely done., not overcooked, freshly made. Everything was very well prepared, clearly freshly made, and the staff was courteous and friendly. In short, it was a welcome pleasure for the palate. Worth to mention, the portions are big. All the meats were lean and tender. A great value, and all around delicious meal with well developed, balanced flavors. Tried this place for the first time tonight and it was good. We got an order of veg spring rolls, one order of pork pot stickers, 1 order of general chicken and rice. Overall, the general chicken was very good, the pot stickers were good, and the spring rolls tasted like the frozen ones from costco. Yes, the serving size was generous and the price was low, but I found the food quality and taste to be poor. My honey walnut prawns had tiny chips of over browned nuts? Maybe walnuts, I would not really tell. The prawns themselves were okay, but had none of the tasty sauce this dish is known for. Served with a huge heap of gummy white rice with no garnish to be seen. My dining partner to my right has a gigantic heap of lemon chicken big enough for a family, but no lemon in sight. My dining partners all opted for combo platter so they could have ordinary soup and nasty egg rolls that were obviously mass produced, over fried and bland tasteless. Went on a Saturday night, it wasn't too busy which after having the food really surprised me. The food was delicious. It was one of the best hot n sour soups I have had. If you love spicy, it's a must, the fish is not fried, & it's served in the most delicious, spicy, flavorful broth full of Chinese herbs. Everything else was good, but not something that stood out as amazing. But if you enjoy spicy food, try the Kung Fu fish fillet. I will definitely try other dishes. read more

Our other Chinese restaurant changed owners and the food doesn't taste the same. We tried this place for the first time a month or so ago and the food is sooo good. I don't know how we overlooked this place before We just got the basics, rice, chow mein, walnut prawns, and string beans but everything was a 10! I def need to try more from their menu! read more

We've used this place numerous times for takeout, in fact it's our go to on holidays when most places are closed, to easily and satisfactorily feed a large number of people at the last minute. We like the food a lot, even my American-born Chinese husband approves, and are able to find something for everyone, even the picky eaters and those with allergies. The staff are super nice, friendly. We like the family meal options (probably called something different but that's what we call it) so we can get a range of items and it's easy to work with the staff to add on or modify dishes. Honey walnut shrimp is our favorite dish that we recommend to not go home without. Great spot! read more

The food is ok. Not terrible. BUT they do not know how to run this business well. Terribly unorganized. DON'T order from their website. They don't realize they even have a website. They don't check those orders at all until you arrive to pick up and tell them you placed an order online. But that's after you've sat there unattended for at least 30 minutes. All doordashers wait a very long time for the orders too. It'll take 2 hours for them to figure out the online orders. I'm leaving this review because it's happened to us twice. Save yourself some frustration and walk in to order. They don't answer phones well either. All walk in orders got attended to and got their orders long before us. They are severely understaffed. This is our go to Chinese restaurant in Martinez. We've tried them all (and miss 1 or 2 that have closed/retired). This Bamboo Garden is consistently very good. The walnut prawns are one of the best my family has ever had and we ordered that, among others, every single time. If you are in the Martinez vicinity, this place is legit good. read more

Came here today to try after hearing good things and I am so so so sad!!! Why?? Only because I haven't come sooner!!!! The hot and sour soup was the best I've had within miles and miles- possibly the best! The sweet and sour chicken sauce was perfect and those don't skimp on portion sizes. Also happy to report that the meat was actually meaty and not all breading like many places. The hot and spicy chicken was a pleasant surprise! It was phenomenal. The Mongolian beef was as my husband put it "the best ever." This is coming from someone who has had his fair share of Mongolian beef having lived in the Bay Area his entire life. We couldn't stop raving the entire time we ate and we didn't feel all full and heavy like we do after we eat at some other Chinese food restaurants. The male waiter was so kind. He made my son and my family feel right at home. He was patient, kind, funny, and super accommodating. I cannot believe this place had an empty chair that's seriously how much I loved it! Went for lunch Friday at noon, ordered hot tea, water and Walnut Prawn lunch special for $12.55. I had my two year old granddaughter who already had lunch. I asked for a small glass of water for her and they brought me a quart size to go container half full with water with a lid that had no holes and a straw which was completely useless. They had small water glasses that I saw they brought to other customers. The lunch specials come with soup and appetizer. The soup was egg drop, it was ok. The Walnut prawns were also just ok, they were crispy and not too doughy, but there was hardly any sauce and no shredded cabbage under the prawns. I always come back to Bamboo Garden for the delicious Chinese food but also for the excellent service I always get from Ada, Ada is always quick to bring my order and she know what dishes I like and she always serve me and my husband with her friendly smile. The owner is also really nice and sometime come ask how I like my food. My favorite dishes from Bamboo Garden are the mushu pork, garlic eggplants, spicy fried chicken wings, crispy seafood noodles, salt and pepper pork chop and many more.
