coming into Doppio Zero i had very high expectations because of the yelp reviews and tiktok videos promoting this amazing italian restaurant. the host was really sweet and kind, but our server was not attentive and barely checked up on us. we were waiting for 10 minutes for her to check up on us after we were clearly done. i understand busy servers, but there was not a lot of tables at 12pm on a saturday. this place truly lacks the flavor and service that is expected of a popular restaurant. although i like my red chili flakes and parmesan, i do not want my food to only taste like that. i would not come here again and i would not recommend it to anyone. rigatoni pork belly pasta: looks very good, but tastes like chef boyardee. if you added handfuls of parmesan and extra chili flakes, it could taste a little better like something off of a school menu. truly so bland!!!! there were only about five pieces of shortrib, with three of them being fatty pieces. doppio zero pizza: apparently their most popular pizza! a white sauce pizza with prosciutto, burrata, arugula, parmesan flakes. doesnt taste like anything at all. do not recommend unless you enjoy bland pizzas. we also received our pizza UNCUT! when we told our server she went to go recut it but it was still uncut. the pizza cutter must have been extremely dull because we couldnt even see the indents or cut marks. we had to cut our own pizza and season our own food. truffle fries: crispy skinny fries, but overall lack flavor. cant taste the truffle or seasoning of any kind. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. When we arrived, there were several available booth seats, but we were seated at a table near the kitchen where the noise level was high. When I politely asked whether it would be possible to move to one of the open booths, the hostess responded in a rude and aggressive manner. The manager noticed that we seemed unhappy and asked about our experience, which I appreciated. He also appeared to have a talk with the hostess who politely sad goodbye when we left. However, throughout our visit, I observed other parties of the dominant majority being seated in the available booths while we remained at our table despite our request to move. One family even had children jumping around breaking glasses. While those that were similarly identifiable as us were also seated to the side. The food was also disappointing. Our pizza arrived in about five minutes, which made it seem rushed, and unfortunately two members of our party became ill afterward with symptoms consistent with food poisoning. Between the poor customer service, seating experience, and concerns about food quality, I would not return and cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

The Dude and I came to Doppio Zero at The Veranda awhile ago because we were craving pizza, cocktails, and a late-night meal. When we arrived, it wasn't very busy, although it looked like they had recently finished hosting a larger group event. The atmosphere was much more formal and upscale than we expected, but still welcoming and comfortable. We started with cocktails, which were well-made and balanced. For dinner, we ordered pizza and were impressed with the quality of the ingredients. The crust had a great texture, and everything tasted fresh without feeling overly heavy. We also shared dessert and it was the perfect way to end the evening. Service was attentive throughout the meal, and despite arriving later in the evening, we never felt rushed. Overall, Doppio Zero delivered exactly what we were looking for that night: good cocktails, great pizza, a relaxing atmosphere, and a nice place to unwind after a long day. I like the food and the atmosphere here, for the most part. We have been here three times now, but I'm not sure we will be back again. In this last trip, as has happened once before, they didn't honor our reservation. The front hostess stated that it was a 15 minute wait, which is the same amount as for people without a reservation. I get that things happen, but it's happened twice now (out of three trips) and the front hostess was just straight up rude about it (for the record, we did say the simple response, "but we had a reservation," which she acknowledged and then followed up with rudeness). We aren't high maintenance people, so her response was just striking. Watching her with other people, I'm pretty confident it wasn't us. The wait staff also seemed pretty overwhelmed, so it may be a management problem more than anything. read more

I came last week and ate outside because the weather was great. I ordered the vegetarian Carciofina pizza which has basil pesto, artichoke hearts, mozzarella, olives and Calabrian chilies. The menu lists black olives but they were Kalamata which I prefer so that was a plus. The only issue I had was the oil from the pesto made the dough extremely greasy/oily and my plate had a lot of oil sitting underneath the pizza. The waiter was very kind and had the kitchen remake it with less pesto, less cheese and cooked slightly longer. I usually don't care for goat cheese, but it was so fresh and tasty in this salad. A fruity and tart salad that serves as a nice, light appetizer. Doppio Zero Pizza-a white sauce pizza. I had trouble choosing which pizza to get but having seen that this one had burrata cheese, it was an easy decision after that. This pizza is good but it is heavy. The burrata and oils make it a very creamy pizza. The dough is soft and pillowy. I'd get this again! My friend and I shared both. We both arrived for a late lunch and were hungry, but we still felt very full afterward. On a day with nice weather we opted to sit at one of their many outdoor tables with umbrellas. It's located in a shopping plaza so you can walk off your food coma or hit up the desert spot next door for something sweet. I have been here several times with my sisters. I believe we first went here somewhere in September and our subsequent visits here have been fantabulous 100%. For starters, you have got to try the burrata and truffle fries. Truffle fries are spectacular, and not too crispy. They are perfect. The burrata is also spectacular. Simple but lovely. Also, try the prosciutto and burrata. Very snazzy. My favorite dishes are between the ravioli, fungo pizza, gnocchi and so much more. Also, drink-wise, my favorite mocktail is the passion paradise. Service here is always spectacular. I've been a regular since September. And the environment is always filled with people visiting Veranda. Stop by here when you have the chance. Pretty pricy @$7 for 6 shrimp (when I opened the pizza box). But I say worth it and was a good choice. The dough was nice and airy with the slight crunch from the fire char. I wish the pears were seared or caramelized somehow prior to placing on pizza but the sweetness does come out nicely in every bite. Gorgonzola would've thrown this pizza out of the park. I also asked for cheese for the pizza and they gave me these preserved cheese packets which I didn't care for. Usually nice restaurants like this will have preheated fresh cheese on standby for Togo orders in mini containers. That would definitely be a good addition Doppio could implement. 10/10 - Kid's Alfredo Slight parsley served atop some freshly made bucatini and the cream of the sauce was in-house made. The texture of the pasta was al dente and the Alfredo was heavier on the cream and butter in a good way. Not too salty or cheese as most store bought or some restaurants use. We made a last-minute reservation for a friend's birthday and were so happy they were able to accommodate us just a few hours in advance. The staff was kind enough to store the birthday cake we brought in their fridge until we were ready for it--such a thoughtful touch! We ended up being a group of six (though we had originally expected eight) and ordered a mix of dishes to share. The appetizers--bruschetta and burrata--were a perfect start. We had a personal pizza along with several other happy hour items, including broccolini beats with burrata, shrimp and arugula, and a prosciutto board. I've enjoyed several lunches and one dinner at Doppio Zero over the past couple of years. It was crowded and quite noisy the night I introduced DH to DZ. (We arrived at the tail end of Happy Hour.) While a crowd is good for business, our table for two felt a bit close to other diners and our "senior ears" found conversation a bit hard. We both enjoyed our dinner entrees: rib eye ravioli for DH and salmon with forbidden rice for me. Sauce on the salmon dish was very tasty. We shared the hazelnut tartufo for dessert. Typically for lunch at DZ, I order a salad. Most recently my choice was the nectarine salad on a base of arugula along with goat cheese and pumpkin seeds and dressed with a lemon honey thyme vinaigrette. I added shrimp. (Chicken is the other add-on option.) I was joined by two former work colleagues who have larger appetites than I. Our table had lots to share: excellent brushcetta and a generous amount of warmed olives. We had a bottle of sparkling water along with a pleasant Italian Chardonnay. One friend had a salad followed by a pizza (with half of the pizza left "to go.") The other friend enjoyed his pasta dish. (Not sure exactly what it was, but it looked delicious.) Then it was on to dessert. The pasta-eating friend kept his simple: an espresso with a twist of lemon. Since my one friend didn't finish his pizza, he had room for cannoli. One reason I usually order salads is I like to save room for dessert. My first thought was to order the panna cotta, always a favorite of mine in Italian restaurants. But I couldn't resist the dessert of the day: pistachio cake. So light ... a true delight! And I still ended up with the panna cotta! My friend had ordered it ahead of time for my birthday. And it even came with a candle and singing servers. Our server, Lara, was knowledgeable and professional. She was very patient with us. Our lunch stretched on for more than two hours. We entered the restaurant. The front door was wide open, which in 85+ degree heat, is probably not a good sign. Particularly for someone like me with medical issues. The hostess looked at her watch and said, 'Oh, well, it's 5:55. I guess we can seat you.' Gee, the restaurant was 10% full (what a pleasant surprise.). Didn't feel very welcomed. So... we're seated... and it just is really, really hot inside. No fans and no AC. So I take a peek at the patio outside, and it's maybe 3 degrees cooler, but really not good. When I return to my table and the hostess. And she says, 'well I'm warm too, we could turn the air conditioning up, but it takes a while'. And I'm thinking, front door and patio doors open. Way too hot. Clearly the restaurant AC is not working, hence the lack of patrons. So we left. Note to management: Notify your patrons that there is a problem so they can make a decision to come or go elsewhere. We won't be returning any time soon. read more

This is or 3rd time here at Doppio Zero. The food is exceptional and very flavorful. I recommend the fried calamari for starters. Very crispy light and a good portion. I wanted to try their pizza's too even though I make my own neapolitan style at home every week. True test for this is to try the margarita to taste the bread sauce and cheese. Pizza was good but the cheese wasn't melted enough. The dough was very good with a sweet note to it( Caputo?) The San Marzano sauce was a bit bland for my liking. I know the avpn of Italy has their standards of the right flour, sauce and cheese ( DOP) to make it a true neapolitan. I don't know if this restaurant does or not but still a good quality pizza. My second pizza on our second visit was the Vesuvio with the yellow tomatoes, buratta, spicy coppa, evoo. Really great pizza with booming flavor. I would suggest that the coppa be ontop of the buratta so you can see it.( more pretty with color) The service is the best with friendly staff and great atmosphere, though a bit noisy when restaurant is full. I came here for a work lunch and prior to doing so, I looked at my previous review and got pretty excited. Unfortunately, this experience 4 years later was not as magical. First off, we had a very large party, so we were seated outside. It was pretty cold and windy. When we asked if the heat lamps could be turned on, the staff said that none of them were working. The staff was pretty nice, so I blame that on management. Anyways, on to the meal. I gave the bread 10 stars last time - it must have come out straight from the oven. Kind of hard to meet that expectation, but this time around was maybe 3 stars if I'm being generous - not needed for the meal. We ordered quite a few appetizers including Brussels Sprouts and Calamari. Everything was decent except for the artichokes, which were super salty. I split two entrees with a work friend. They were running a special holiday menu and I was pretty happy with the Ossobuco with Truffle Risotto. Meat was fall apart tender, risotto didn't taste too much like truffles, but was fine. The La Carne pizza was alright, but the crust needed some help - thin and flimsy. We ended trying out a few desserts (Tiramisu and Panna Cotta) and I thought they were all great. My wife came here a few times and said I needed to try it. Of course I was up for the challenge being that Italian is my favorite type of food. Located in the veranda shopping center so parking is abundant but the place gets busy. We didn't mind parking further away and walking, the weather is always sunny so it's worth enjoying a stroll. The interior is very clean and well kept. The waiters seem to have an Italian accent as well for what it's worth. Almost to complete the experience, you might say. The menu has plenty to choose from but not too much to leave you uncertain where to start. We got started with the octopus salad and fried calamari and shrimp. The fried appeteazer was good all the way through, especially with the well flavored sauces. I'd say the only negative in this review/experience would be that the octopus wasn't grilled enough or if it was supposed to be at all. That didn't take away from the great taste, especially with the salad. Probably the best tomatoes I've had in a salad. I was worried my lasagna might be too small but after asking the waiter, I had to trust his judgment. Not only was it a plentiful amount but the taste was pretty good, too. My wife got the branzino with couscous and my mom got the oxtail pasta. Of course I had to try both for quality control purposes. The branzino held it's own to any fancy restaurant that we've been to and the oxtail pasta left no room for bad critique. The plate was actually stacked to the heavens. The portions was the biggest surprise from the experience. Thoroughly impressed. The dessert had mixed reviews. The lemoncello cake was like a moist sponge cake that my ol'lady didn't appreciate but I didn't mind it one bit. The puff pastry dessert seemed like a deconstructed pastry with levels to it. My wife didn't like the pastry aspect that divided the sweet cream on bottom from what seemed to be a hazelnut chocolate mousse. Very minimal negative critique from her but overall a successful dish and service. We decided to go here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and was seated immediately. Vibe of the place is very modern and the air conditioning works very well in the middle of July. Our server was very nice and patient as we wanted to take our time when ordering. We started with the burrata and the broccolini - both which I can highly recommend. Broccolini was cooked well and covered in garlic, which I personally love, but I would understand if it was too much for other people. For our entrées, we got gnocchi and the Doppio zero pizza - both again I would highly recommend. Both portions were able to be split between two people so next time we'll probably just get one entrée. Pizza crust and flavors were very authentic when compared to my recent trip in Naples - aka the birthplace of pizza. Gnocchi was fresh and flavor was fantastic. I lead with cocktails because they're my favorite thing about this restaurant, but I have only great things to say about the food as well. I'm never disappointed in my meal, I've had both pizzas and pastas and everything is delicious. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the terrible parking situation at The Veranda. It's almost easier, if you live local, to just uber here, and wiser too if you plan to enjoy the cocktails. But sometimes I'm the designated driver, and there's nothing fun about spending forever looking for parking while your friends are in Doppio already 2 drinks and 3 appetizers in. read more

Beautiful ambience was the first thing I noticed walking into the doors of Doppio Zero. Warm, welcoming, visually stunning. At first I thought I was underdressed in the leggings and windbreaker I was wearing, but looking around,any others were dressed casually. We were greeted by the hostess as we entered, seated very quickly. Having a four month-old, I was relieved to see other families with children seated throughout the restaurant. Our server came to our table to hand out coloring pages for the kids, as well as take our drink order. We went with the Italian sparkling water, which was very crisp and refreshing. For our entrees, we ordered the Formaggi and Sage pizza, Salsciccia pizza, and the Fettuccine Oxtail. The Formaggi and Sage was my favorite. It's layered with mozzarella, fontina, Parmesan and Gorgonzola cheese. Topped with bits and pieces of sage. Our server provided us with a chili oil and chili flakes and I added both to the top of my pizza, dipping the crust in a little bed of the oil and flakes I made on my plate. The Salsciccia was great if you're more into pizza with tomato sauce. This pizza had Italian sausage, black olives, red onion, bell peppers, and mozzarella. A true complement to the Formaggi. We shared the fettuccine oxtail. The noodles are homemade egg noodles with the perfect texture and density. The oxtail was delicious as it was braised and tender. The sauce was on the sweeter side as you can taste the Chianti Red Wine. I did enjoy it, however, I was torn between the fettuccine oxtail and the Spaghetti Pescatore. I will try the latter next time as I am very curious about the octopus and calamari! My experience at Doppio Zero was a mood changer. I came to this restaurant while feeling under the weather and left with a more positive mindset thanks to the wonderful time I had in their warm and radiant environment. I truly recommend visiting if you are in the concord area. This restaurant is located in the perfect area of the veranda. We opened the doors to leave and were exposed to the many holiday festivities going on in the center of the plaza. Although freezing cold outside, we were enticed to walk around to the huge Christmas tree and to our surprise, there was a beautiful ice skating rink alongside the tree. We were able to secure a reservation for Saturday night the week of the reservation for 5 adults and 5 children. The table was ready when we arrived. The restaurant is bit noisy but a perfect environment with so many kids. Server was nice and attentive but a little slow. It's understandable since the restaurant was busy. I ordered the shrimp and fish pasta in red sauce and added the clams. I can tell the pasta was handmade pasta. I am not a fan of handmade pasta when it comes to Italian cuisine because it reminds me of Chinese chow mien. The texture of the pasta is softer compared to the ones I had in the past. The shrimps were firm and had a crunch to it. The fish tasted like any other white fish, nothing special. Unfortunately the clams did not taste fresh to me and would recommend skipping it. read more

Simply said, Doppio Zero is my mom's favorite Italian spot in town, and it didn't disappoint. The dining atmosphere is beautiful, with the location right in front of the fountains. The inside is very neat, clean, and has an elegant vibe overall. This felt like a fine dining experience, and the staff is knowledgeable. The food was very good and rich in flavor. If you're looking for Italian and large portion with great flavor, look no further. I came here with my family, we were a party of 4 adults and 4 kiddos and we enjoyed our experience and also had leftovers for days! Something I should warn along with the portion size is for kids, they're adult portions! I wish we would have just ordered 1 pizza and 1 spaghetti for all to split because again, so many leftovers. If it's so good, why 4/5: Service. I know service can make or break an experience and it definitely broke this one. I attempted to say one of the menu items and every time I said it the server corrected me 4x. I was trying my best to say it correctly, not trying to be offensive, but it got to the point where I didn't even want to attempt if I was potentially offending him. We never got checked on, and he definitely seemed irritated with the young/loud kids. Lastly, I probably would have ordered an alcoholic drink but was never given a menu or option. Friday dinner, busy but not overcrowded for a chain restaurant. Requested to be indoors as the weather was nice but chilly and was seated for two right behind the hostess desk, nice seats but 2 cons- sunset hits you right in the face and they have no shades to block; hostess area surrounded by fresh flowers but the flowers attracted little flies, not a pleasant indoor atmosphere when trying to eat and having to swipe flies away. The polpettine was tasty, a little dry in the middle. The polpo seemed like a small portion and had competing flavors, not sure if it was the potato puree not mixing well with the anchovies dressing. The branzino is an excellent choice for a seafood entree, especially with the kale. Short-rib fettuccine was a special for the day, needed to add a little more salt and pepper at the table, not really memorable. Not sure about a next time here, but maybe for the pizza and drinks/Happy hour (only on Monday and Wednesday ). read more
